I'm in the U.S. and kind of confused about how everything works. If I buy an unlocked T-Mobile MDA off ebay or somewhere else, will it work with a T-Mobile UK Pay As You Go SIM card? If not is there a list somewhere that says what SIMS work with what phones/PDAs?
I'm thinking about selling my current phone and getting a Voda TP2 through my gf's contract, but I am on Orange.
Is it possible to sim unlock a Voda TP2?
ordered one today from MPD on vodaphone, the phone comes un branded and not locked to any network
Same here, best way to go if you don't have to upgrade.
Same here got my orange sim card in temporary until my PAC code comes through. anyone Know how long it normally takes orange to send out.
I had TyTN and TyTNII from Vodafone.
Great place to buy as they never give you grief over returns.
Neither of my devices from them came locked. I don't think they ever lock HTC devices.
Paul.
Im on T-mobile within the UK and my contract runs out in October. Having read up this phone it seems an ideal upgrade from my current HTC Kaiser.
Does anyone have any infomation or knowledge on when it will come to the UK and what networks it will be on?
thanks guys
It's here now, and you can get it on Vodafone business.
Through Mobilephonesdirect you can get it now on T-mobile or Vodafone, but as you're with T-mobile now you will have to sign up for a new contract with a new number. You can port your current number to another network's PAYG, then back to T-mobile if you want to go with MPD + T-mobile.
T-mobile are no longer offering the phone as Vario V, apparently they decided to offer the N97 in it's place.
I don't know yet about orange or o2.
Hi. I have just purchased a "brand new sim-free unbranded" HTC Desire, however, when I inserted my o2 sim card and switched the device on I got a message that a different sim card was being used. I also had to select between three carriers being o2 contract, o2 payasyougo and Tesco Mobile.
Basically, my question is how can I check that my device definitely is sim-free and unbranded and not previously locked to a network?
Sorry if I am being vague or not supplying enough information. I otherwise love the phone and still trying to figure it out haha.
Many thanks
Scott
Your phone is working so its unlocked and it was just setting up your gprs settings
Don't know why anyone would pay out for a sin free phone. Because almost all pda phones you can unlock for free and debrand them as well

Unlock for free!?
I'd love to know how you network unlock the Desire for free?!! I've failed miserably despite buying a code.
Hello, do any of you know how to tell if galaxy nexus is carrier branded in my case vodafone romania carrier branded? I play to buy GN from vodafone and I was told that the phones are only carrier locked but not carrier branded. I want to make sure they are not carrier branded, is there any way to tell??
I am worried that if it will be carried branded (and not as they say in the shop, carrier unbranded) I will not be able to have future OTA updates after google releases them, instead I will have to way for vodafone to brand the update and only after that I will have it on the phone. They said that they will unlock the phone for free as I will buy it contract free.
Ty in advance for the answer.

Hi - got it this morning from Vodafone RO: I confirm it's not branded.
I got mine today from Vodafone Romania. Not branded, but carrier locked.
MIne too is vodafone locked Any chance to unlock it?
Vodafone will unlock it for you vodafone.ro/business/asistenta/telefoane-si-echipamente/service-si-reparatii/service-telefoane-vodafone/index.htm
I am waiting for mine to arrive. BTW which configuration is it YAKJU or YAKJUXW?
I got the phone yesterday from Vodafone RO and I also confirm that is locked on Vodafone but it's not branded.
FYI, the ppl at the shop told me that I can get it unlocked in any Vodafone shope for 50 € and I wont loose the warranty, also there is the option to unlock it at Samsung site and the warranty won't be lost this way. So you either pay Vodafone 50 € to unlock the phone or go to Samsung and unlock the phone for 15$. The process of unlocking is the same in both cases only Vodafone charges more and the wait time is a maximum of 2 weeks.
Ty all for the feedback...
