Hi I cant get the ROM Update utilities to work as they either cant find files when opened or the programs stop working and are closed by Windows. I am running Windows 7. Is that the problem and if so is there a solution?

I have installed WM 5 on my XDA IIs about three hours back and since then trying very hard to make Activesync recognize my device. But alas!!! no luck...
When I put the device in the cradle, the Windows XP on my laptop detects a new device "Windows Mobile-Based Device" and asks me to install a driver. Ashtonishingly, the driver is not found automatically. So I tried for some time and found that it is looking for a file - rndismpx.sys. I searched my laptop for this file and found the file to be in \Windows\system32\drivers directory. I gave the path in the installation, but the installation aborts saying that the file is not found...
I have done the settings that the Wiki site said. But even after that my device is not being recognized by my laptop.
Any insights as to why is this happening... I did try and search the forum, but could not find anything specific.
Thanks,
Siddharth
Are you sure you're running Activesync 4.1 instead of 3.8?
I had the same problem too. But I didn t found a solution. Please help me too.
Well, I know this is a long shot, but I am hoping that someone has found themselves in the same situation as I did. I am beta testing Windows 7 and when I attempted to connect my HTC Cavalier to my desktop, Windows is unable to locate the appropriate driver for it. I had no issues with my Windows XP and Vista versions. Anyone found a fix for this? I have looked everywhere for the HTC USB driver download, with no luck. Maybe someone can export the driver from their Windows copy?
Any help would be appreciated.
Not the answer I guess you want to see - but I have the cavalier working just fine with Windows 7
Any chance u could send me the driver .INF? I would really appreciate it.
I didn't have to download any specific INF file or drivers - it was supported directly via Windows Update and the WMDC.....check your version of the WMDC - latest build is 6.1.6965

hi i'm syg, i'm a new member.
I'm havin the same issues with my HTC Touch Pro & windows 7.
except now, my usb mouse doesn't work & I'm having issues with my external hard drives. so I'm hoping someone else knows what's going on.
You need to install WMDC 6.1. They have both versions - drvupdate-amd64.exe and drvupdate-x86.exe - for the 32 and 64bit , check Microsoft... (Google 'WMDC 6.1')

Not sure, I use WMDC in Windows 7 x64 Pro without any issues. I installed it through Windows Update. I haven't had any problems at all with it.

Same here, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and no problems with recognizing the phone. Works perfect. Delete the temporary driver in device manager do a restart and try again.
No problems here...
Windows 7 ultimate N
The N is without Mediaplayer
Mediaplayer is a dependand component for Windows Mobile Device Center and without Windows Mobile Device Center you cannot install the Mobile drivers.
get http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d3-166a-4c75-b90c-a6cef9b414c4&displaylang=en
It it will work
Funny that it cannot tell that Mediaplayer is missing.
Have a nice day everyone
When I try to install Windows Sideshow I get the following errors:
1. A problem has occurred with tmarshaller.exe
2. A problem has occurred with shell32.exe
When I click these errors away the installation is finished, but then my device doesn't respond to anything.
After a soft reset I can start Sideshow, but even when the device has a bluetooth connection with my computer it gives the following message:
"Make sure that this device is paired with the PC over Bluetooth and that the PC is turned onn and within range.
If this problem persists, wait a few minutes and try again."
When I remove the application and reinstall it again I get the same problems.
Anyone know what I can do to make it work?
Using Windows Sideshow on Xperia X1
Hi, I can't help with the error codes but I have successfully loaded Windows Sideshow onto my Xperia X1 and can see information from my Desktop PC.
Background info:
PC Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Xperia Operating System: Energy ROM based on WM 6.5.3
The steps I took were to install my USB Bluetooth adapter but install using the Standard Bluetooth stack drivers that are built into Windows 7, create a Pairing between my X1 and PC so i never need to input a code when transferring data.
I then installed the Windowssideshowforwindowsmobile.cab and .NetCF V2.cab to my X1 (Install to Device and not storage card)
then go to control panel on your PC and under Devices you should see your Phone/PDA listed - access the settings option by right clicking and go to the 'Services' tab, select all Bluetooth services by putting a Tick into the box.
I had options for Activsync over bluetooth and windows sideshow.
then on your Phone/PDA start the Sideshow app and select connect.
to add new apps/gadgets to your device go to Control panel/windows sideshow.
Hope this Helps.

Hey guys
I specialy registered to this forum for my next question/problem.
First of all, I'm using Wildfire s, 2.3.7, CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-marvel.KANG + i'm using Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
I was trying to install
"[Tool] Android Screencast 0.4 (open-source)"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557717
But when i connect my htc to pc with usb debugging it fails to install the driver. I've downloaded many usb_drivers from all over internet and tried to install them manually using device manager but it doesn't seem to work.
Finly i found the "HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe and it worked on other computer (Win7). when i tried to install it in win 8 it gives an error telling that Driver installer in not supported for this OS. tried to run in capatibility mod but no luck.
Also tried to modify the usb_driver files "android_winusb" my adding lines in end etc.. still didn't work.
usually i don't ask help from any forum rather i google things and read other ppl posts. which worked.... until now So now i'm asking for help at this topic, i've been through almost every post in xda telling about Device not found, without any luck there eith.
If needed it's possible to remote controll my pc with teamviewer.
Help is really appreciated.
ps. device manager shows that yellow attention mark.

why not just post the answer?
had trouble getting drivers for windows 8 64 to work when trying to flash ruu update. could not find drivers online or a thread on xda, eventually downloaded the google drivers from sdk, and they worked perfectly after manually installing them for the android phone and then again for the android 1.0 device when it boots to hboot.
