FAKE FINGER PRINT - lock screen - Windows Mobile Software Development

Excellent app. It works like a lockscreen and it fakes your finger print, but did not found any to windows mobile. Only founded to symbian.
I challenge you all great devs to work on something like this, but even better, adding it a clock, date, missed calls and messages. It would be great
take a look at the app for symbian here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyXyt-Ui5AM

well challenging doesnot looks good
atleast show some respect and request
i hope many people here would like to make such application

ok sorry, i am a noob on these things. I request all great devs, i beg them, and if i could at the moment i would donate of course.. for an app like this.
thank you all, you make my mobile devices not just phones!

looks like your thread needs a bump
even i too need such app

Sounds like a great (and possibly easy -no idea about developing-) idea!

yeah not that much pain but i dont know why people are not working on it

+1 for me looks funny

I thought I might as well as post this here now...
I am working on making this Fake FingerPrint Scanner Lock-screen.
I really have very little left to do...
-Vibrate (tougher)
-UI for configuring (easy)
-Topbar stuffs like Signal and Battery (A side-project I have been doing that is almost done)
-Some text on screen...
Besides that, if anyone wants to beta-test what I got...PM me....its First Come, First Serve, not too many will get the beta.

To all watching this thread in hopes of a release...here is an update:
I have made some progress on this project. Visually it is close to done (just need to add a few components), functionally, I just have to add in a feature here and there and the ability to customize it...and there should be an initial release!
Hang tight...shouldn't be more than a week-ish (schedule permitting)...

I hate hate hate making promises, BUT ... I have (gone against my greater morals) and settled with a decent solution to some of the problems i have been experiencing with this program...due to this (which puts me ahead quite a few days), I will be giving my beta testers the program to test a bit for a day or two, get some reports, fix some bugs, and WITH LUCK and good scheduling, there MAY be a release this coming Sunday!!!
Don't hold me to this though, I am just speculating, and I am really eager to release this

that is actually pretty sweet, hope it gets ported to htc devices

I am on the verge of being ready to release a public beta. I am currently working on implementing a GUI for CONFIGURING the lock-screen, so it can be customizable. After that is finished, and I address any bugs brought up to me by my beta testers, i will release. I hope this can occur soon!

Boot Animation Tester[V 1.02][Will be Theme tester soon]

The other day I read that awesome Tut on how to create a Boot Animation by kusotare [link] because of this I started creating a few animations. While doing this I would test them out by flashing them, I did not like this so I created an applet that will basically animate them for you... Its pretty simple code, I am sure anyone on here could do it(and im sure some one has) but I figured I would share it with anyone who wanted it.
All you have to do is extract the .zip into a folder, and when you want to test your animations drop 'android-logo-mask.png' and 'android-logo-shine.png' into the folder. After you put them into the folder, open(double click) 'BootAnimationTest.htm'. This will open up your browser and show you the animation.
Requirements:
-This requires that you have the JRE installed
-'android-logo-mask.png' should be 256x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
-'android-logo-shine.png' should be 512x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
If you want, until I make it fix it automatically you can
find dimensions of android-logo-mask.png n put those values in BootAnimationTest.htm
Click to collapse
Future:
-In the future I plan to make it were it doesnt matter what size your images are.
-Turn this into a full fledged theme tester!
Feature Request: If you have an idea that you want me to add to this let me know, and most likely I will do so.
Just added a Video!
Change Log:
V 1.02:
-Added buttons that increase/decrease the speed of the shine

Awesome, I will have it where it does it automatically though, among other things... I also think I may turn it into a Jar and have it launch in its own window.
Edit - those red dots, are actualy my name... what happened is that you resized it, so it shrunk the applet.

Yea, thats why I made it, I got tired of having to flash over and over to test mine.
Thanks for the kudos on my tutorial. I had a tough time doing it my first time around, and after six or seven hundred of my friends with G1s asked me how i did it, I finally broke down and did the tutorial.
On the other hand, I absolutely love what you've done with the applet. That will certainly make it easier for people to come up with something they'll really like instead of having to tweak-and-flash as most of us have been doing for ages. Excellent work!

by the way, i added a link to the first post here into the tutorial post. you really did hit a keystone here thats gonna help people. cheers!
How do you guys feel about the speed of the shine? I think I will add a button that will let you make it faster or slower
Helpful, fast and time saving tool...
This is really a great and helpful tool. Its a must have on the utility belt of all theme-er's.
Excellent work...
This is an awesome tool, it'll help me cut down on wearing out my NAND flashing theme updates over and over just to test the boot screen. Thanks a lot!
Edit: Just tried it out on one of my old non used boot animations I had, the 'animation' scroll should be faster in my opinion. I remember seeing it speeding by at least 2x the speed as the applet does it. BUT the buttons to increase/decrese speed would be ideal. Some people may prefer it slower, some fast.
Again great job on this, you saved a lot of trouble!

Is that possible? IF you're able to do that, you'll hear a lot of "I LOVE YOU"s from theme makers, especially me.
I understand it would be a 'rough draft' sort of thing considering the .9.png and such but really just to see everything 'together' before flashing it would be a welcome change than what we can do now.

Yea, I don't think it would be hard at all... It will just take me a while.
Edit - Ok, so I just posted the new build. This build just added the speed buttons. By the end of the week I hope to have a build that is a full theme tester up. I also think that later on down the road I will make this into a JFrame instead of an applet. Also, what is the deal with the .9.png?

.9.png are images that Android resizes to work in any situation. like the buttons. sometimes they are small sometimes they take up the whole screen. you have to sign them in eclipse for them to work right. check out this thread for a more detailed description of them and what it takes to get them working properly.
if you do make a theme tester I will have kids just so i can name them Burlyskink.
For theme and boot testing...did anybody see the news story about running an emulated Android os (complete with G1 skin) on a Windows PC?
It looks just like a brand new fresh stock G1 and it works. I wonder if that could test out themese and mods?

I have most of the icons changed, market app icons and other apps not pre installed will not be changed. 1 thing is I don't have the I.E. icon cause I hate I.E. so firefox it is!

Awesome man, love it, can't wait ...
Few suggestions:
* WiFi symbol like the wireless connectivity icon on 7 (Not sure how best to demonstrate the bars of signal though, maybe the waves that come out of it?)
* Similarly, 3g/EDGE have the picture of two computers with the globe, lighting each one up for send/receive
* Muted and battery icons
Only suggestions, re-reading those, most would be a pain to implement I'm sure .
Love the dialer too
I like to look of this...
+1!
totally funny and cool!!
Please release ASAP xD
Hoping to have this available for release on Sunday night.

I am sick of all these ROMs

I guess what I mean to say I am sick of all these problems, with both stock and cooked roms, I just want a phone that works smoothly.
What I wouldn't give for ANY ROM that is reliable.
I have tried ROM after ROM, and I still have not found even one that is truly reliable. The stock ROMs, or ones close to stock are maybe better but not OK.
I am so sick of the slow HTC messenging client (I have tried the fix to disable it, but that doesn't work)
Even the regular windows messenging freezes.
In fact the phone seems to have a lot of fun freezing up all the time. It usually unfreezes after a while, but why would I want a phone that I have to wait 5 minutes for before I can do anything?
All I want is 1 reliable ROM. It doesn't have to be lightning fast, just something that doesn't waste my time.
It would also be nice to have something with a bit of cool graphics in it too, but that is not important.
I have read online about a lot of people having the same problems. Why can't we seem to fix this? I have a lot of faith in Xda-developers, so I know this can be done.
try cooking your own then maybe you'll see how hard it is to make a reliable rom. :|
Yeah, I don't mean to give any offense to the chefs, as I thank them for their effort, but I think the problem is deeper than that.
I just want to know what I can do? Or maybe how can I help to discover the root cause of these problems?
you know...i dont think its the ROMs...
honestly i think it's because the stuff that's on the phone (whether its a stock ROM or a cooked one)
it NEEDS more memory...
thats what i think at least...
well how can one build a ROM that is snappy and reliable?
Its not the RAM, its the Qualcrap MSM7200 processor. Same processor for 3 generations. Thats why.
Check my signature & words of Gandhi Ji, you will understand why we fail. Our greed always outgrows our technological developments & what we are left with in the end is nothing but frustration.
To be specific have shipped ROM & attain the nirvana.
Kind of same feelings here. I have been using modified ROMS and now I realized that some of my text messages don't go through to people. This is kind of bad because I already fired one person from our company because there was misunderstanding cause she never received the message but I didn't believe her cause I got confirmation from the operator that she got the msg
and JUST now the phone just suddenly went blank and now it says that has to reset the device completely. I didn't even touch the phone I just noticed that it had lost the wallpaper suddenly and then tried to reinstall the wallpaper didn't work. Then reset and the phone didn't get on anymore
Luckily after some waiting the screen came and said I can reset the device. Now has to reinstall everything again. Fuuuuck. Would have other things to do than this..

Maybe we should start a quest to find that one ultimate ROM that makes this thing into a phone we can rely on.
I bought this phone because I use all of it's features heavily, I text and email and call and view documents, and surf the web and listen to music and watch videos and more constantly on this thing.
For it to be unreliable negates all the good functions it has.
How about we all work on finding/testing one ROM that is priority #1 Reliable?

lol...seems kind of a self defeating goal. Can there be anything such as the one perfect Rom when we each have our individual preferences and priorities? Also, we have to factor in the reality that the networks themselves are not reliable. So, if ATnT or Verizon drops calls and text messages, can we really say it is the Rom that is unreliable?

I was thinking of making one that can be the basis ROM from which all others are birthed. Or at least find what formula or tricks we could apply to make the ROMs better?
lawlz. Good Luck finding the 100% perfect rom.
If you look at each rom's thread, each new rom they release more likely has a new OS build. Then each new build has their own issues, either from previous version or new issue entirely.
IF the rom the chefs release is just plain unusable, they normally release a FIXED rom with the same build.
Known issues are just that, chefs normally don't fix them because they just can't. So hoping for a new build of the software might fix it.
Each of the roms' issues can be fixed with patches, there are general patches that can be found all over or a patch by the chef when they sometimes forget to fix an issue unique to their rom.
From what i've been noticing, no chefs has cooked up the same rom more than 5 times to fix some issues until it is 100% perfect. By the time they do that, there's a new build of the software and they'll be cooking that instead. Not only just the OS build, they'll also add/remove some programs, change programs to newer versions.
All of these combined will introduce new issues.
Then the cycle continues...
There's about 20 or more Rom selection out there that you can choose from. There's gotta be one that is close to your preferences.
A rom that is deemed 100% reliable to others may not be the same to you.

Perhaps then we should deem what is reliable. Firstly, 100%, I know, is too much to ask for, but I want as close as I can get.
So reliability to me means: I can use the phone as it was meant to be used.
This means: no freezing, no need to reset constantly, when someone calls me I can see the caller ID, etc
Simple and easy.
Now is that too much to ask for?

Well there are Roms that are really reliable and very fast. I'm using the same custom ROM for a long time now... I never had to reset, no freezing. It just works.
It's more stable then stock even. Just search in the first 3 pages of the rom thread for the touch x roms.
So no it's not to much to ask. I think this thread should be closed because it's only about whining. Nothing constructive.
EDIT: and that's not the only ROM that is stable. And let me remind you that al cooks are doing it for fun and free willing. As end user you can't complain. You have no right. Asking and making requests is fine, but I'm getting sick of people saying nobody is listening or will respond on questions asked multiple times and awnsered multiple times. The same is for people screaming other people don't make them what they want while they have to knowledge about the subject at all.
This is not ment offensive in any way to anyone.

Well, as I said in the first few post, it is not the fault of the chefs, and I appreciate greatly all their efforts. I never complained about the chefs and their ROMS, it is the system itself. Perhaps I am asking Windows Mobile to be better.
It think it boils down to Microsoft building a system that is not up to par, then HTC trying to hack on their software which creates a system that is is inherently flawed.
I fully support and am grateful for all the custom ROMs out there. At least it gives us more interesting choices.

Test kernel: Zoom bar acting as multitouch pinch to zoom

Someone asked what the point of the new .39 kernel is, well here's a new feature I've coded up that was made possible due to the more modern kernel.
I have modified the touchscreen driver in the kernel so that the zoom bar is now working, and it sends signals to Android that make it think you're sending a multitouch pinch-to-zoom.
I've got it set so that it sends an input from the center of the screen. As you slide right, the driver tells Android two fingers are moving apart from the center. As you slide left, the driver tells Android two fingers are sliding from the sides towards the center. The net result is that the zoom bar works in any app that supports pinch to zoom.
I've uploaded a video showing it in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRWUzPveU14
I'm going to submit this patch soon, and I'd like it if some people would try it out and give any feedback before I do so. I suppose things to pay attention to would be any increased wonkiness in the touch response, as well as boundaries for the zoom bar. Also, if you have a better idea on how this should work, it's now or never.
Unfortunately, this is a modification of the new .39 kernel, which means that a lot of things are not working on it, and this test kernel will most likely not be suitable for daily use if you like wifi and the other things that don't work on .39 yet.
In order to install you must do the following:
1. Replace your zImage with the one attached.
2. Use the .39 haret (included in the zip for your convenience) with the .39 startup.txt line (set initrd_offset 0x00a00000)
3. Place the included android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.xml under /system/etc/permissions. I tried bind-mounting it from conf, but for some reason that did not work for me. If you don't do add this permission file, the multitouch points will still be sent to Android (and will show up in the app Multitouch Test), but Google's own apps like Browser will ignore them.
Amazing.
First time, I can use this since ages.
Unfortunately, my phone has become very sluggish with this test kernel.

I totally agree with that!

Nice work!
I assume pinch-to-zoom is pretty well supported in Android. Does this mean the zoom bar is now more supported (for zooming, button hacks aside) in XDAndroid than it ever was in officially baked HTC WinMo?
Impressive. Thanks for the vid.
I'm planning to give the .39 kernel a quick test run, hopefully this weekend. There's some software that crashes on me on open now and I'd like to see if its any different with .39. I'll try to give this a whirl then.
As for functionality, the p2z is cool, but not something I've been pining for. I don't know exactly what your plans are, but I'd love it if that function could be switched off easily (a line in startup.txt?), so future hacks creating, say, soft buttons on the bar instead could be more easily implemented.

well that bar has been designed to be a zoom bar. you can do whatever you want with it but always a zoom bar remains using it as a "virtual button" is possible but on the phone you will always have the magnifying glasses printed
What you suggest is an hack to the original zoom bar design and it's not as useful as the zoom function (that on our resistive single touch screens is missing)

All I suggest is flexibility. I'm not trying to steal your zoom

All you are actually suggesting is complexity, indeed. A "soft" array button must be handled properly by the kernel / os / applications and it is a lot more than "one hack" for a function that will be probably not used because the zoom is a bit more important than a button
I'm going to have to break out the bold, aren't I? I'm not asking for soft buttons. I'm asking that this implementation be flexible enough to allow for future hacks like soft buttons, whether they are your favorite or not. I don't even know if the request is necessary, but I never imagined it would be controversial. If that flexibility really is too complex, forgive the request and ignore it.
It's "controversial" because you are asking for a strip of capacitive touch to turn into buttons. As the OP indicated, implementing this requires not only a new kernel+touch, but files in system.ext2, so the system _thinks_ you have p2z when you still have a resistive screen. So what you are asking for is to make that "flexible" when the base feature has barely been coded+tested.
If you truly want capacitive soft buttons, look at the DIAM or RAPH. Back way then (2.0ish), the LED on the bottom button-panel/scroll would light up on finger contact (not pressed) when running xdandroid. It was more of a "wow it's cool" thing because it was a strip of capacitive touch with 5+ LEDs. I don't remember if the p2z worked with the center scrolly or not...

Alright, settle down children.
I think you're looking a little too far ahead fortunz, but that's just my opinion.
To manekineko - holy crap dude, that was fast! Nice work, definitely want to check it out.
But if you're on CDMA... then I'd imagine the experience is painful with data connected... still, great work. I'm sure the .39 kernel folk will gladly accept your patches, that's seriously cool!

Fair enough. I was just trying to avoid any potential "now or never" deadline issues.

Yeah, after I got the .39 kernel, it took me like 30 minutes to get it working for the first time, and then a bit more time to clean up the code to look nicer.
Whereas I'd spent hours banging my head on the wall with .27, never quite sure where the problem was, since I thought I was sending all the right events in the driver. Now I know I was sending the right events (because it works in .39) which means that the problem must have been something in the kernel not passing along the multitouch sync events (I know it's that event missing from debugging the userland). That narrows things down quite a lot, but I don't think I really want to go back and spend the time fixing things up in the obsolete .27 kernel though.
Awesome work Manekineko!
I think the zoom bar code will be a fun addition to future cooks. It will be fun to see what uses people come up with. Be it soft buttons or just a zoom bar. Either way, cool stuff.
There never is and will never be a "now or never" with Android. If you want a feature and it can be coded, take the source and run with it. You may run into walls, and there will be many, but at least you can try - that's the beauty of open source.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not going to be implementing it at this time, but the way things are structured in the code, it wouldn't be hard for it to be done by someone interested in the future.
When I was fighting with getting .27 working, I considered at one point simply turning the zoom bar into soft buttons. However, I was never able to come up with a practical use for soft buttons on the zoom bar. The thing that makes it hard is that the list of keyevents Android understand are extremely limited.
You can see for yourself here:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
Set the filter level to API level 8 to see what's available on Froyo. Unfortunately, really useful keyevents like button zoom in/out only became available in Honeycomb (API level 11).
I'm not sure that soft buttons for things like home or power or search would be very convenient when they're not visible on the physical device, are right next to the screen, and could instantly rip you out of what you're doing.
Just in case anyone happens across this that is interested in doing so, here is how you'd probably want to do it:
Android's KeyInputQueue.java, which handles inputs from the touchscreen (and everything else). Do a search for readVirtualKeys and see that it reads from /sys/board_properties/virtualkeys.tssc_manager. Edit the driver so that it generates the virtualkeys file in the format specified in KeyInputQueue, and disable all of the topaz/rhodium zoom bar code.

Flexible structure is really the only thing I was after. Glad it was already in the plan. And thanks for laying out some possible paths to additional features as well.
Thanks button activated! Great work!
whoops thanked fortunz accidentally -1 buddy
If anybody could find an app that supports touch pressure on a regular kernel on XDAndroid, that would be really helpful. I need to check how much we support pressure to start with and make sure that still is the case with this patch.
I tried Crayon Doodle Lite from the Market, which claims to support pressure, but I'm not seeing any pressure on a regular no-zoom-bar build, so that's not working as a test. Or it may simply be the case that pressure touch has always been broken.

+1
Developing in a way that MAYBE, ONE DAY, SOMEONE, WILL (or just will not) adds unuseful complexity to every software.
BTW: Great work manekineko
Good job, but....
Broke my internet (is zoom tested with gprs or is it CDMA only ?)
Kernel.39+RIL2+F22 is running fine on my R100. After drop in of the Zoom-zImage, connection died.
Without zoom with working connection (SMS error is my operator NOT android):
k39_no_sms_log(537).txt
Zoom added - go to line 552
k39-zoom_no_data(552).txt

Android O - LOS 15 - for our Moto G5+ !

Hey, i just found this with google!
I am not responsible for anything good or bad that happens, i just share what i found.
http://cloud.vache-android.com/Moto/tmp/o/
I tested it as second rom with multirom. it boots but its not a daily driver. but its nice for trying out android o.
sooo as the sh#t storm began. i share this for those who want to test android 8. nothing more.
THIS IS A TEMP BUILD, so dont expect anything work nice and smooth! its not a daily driver
Here a screenshot
I just found camera not working. what else, have no idea. justtry yourself
Tempted to try this with MULTIROM...
Hopefully it will be stable enough soon as it seems to be already by what you're saying.
Also, I was just joking, it's cool that people got to find the builds. Earlier testing

Booted it up just a bit ago
not usable at all. No Sim Card, bunch of FC, no connection to camera. about what you would expect for a early nightly. OS looks nice though, and it suns smooth from what it can run. Looks promising!
These results were with the 29-Aug-2017 13:14 build. it's the latest that I can see.

yeah its realy not useable but nice to try just for seeing what android o looks like.
can recommend to install it as second rom with multirom.
I'm going to try the builds every few days and report back here.
Going to start comparing files between as an unofficial changelog :V
EDIT:
Alright, Today's build seems to have extra files for Sensors and RIL.
