Hi guys,
I saw this on another forum, but a guy said that his other friends on t-mobile had much higher download speeds on 3G than him on his Desire, so he entered their 3G settings into APN and apparently has much faster speeds. I'm not sure how to measure the speeds so thought I'd just post the settings here for you guys to see whether it really is faster or not! Here it is:
name= T-mobile Internet
apn= general.t-mobile.uk
username = t-mobile
password= **
mmsc= h ttp://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002/
mms proxy= 149.254.201.135
mms port= 8080
mmc= 234
mnc= 30
auth= pap
I can't post urls yet so there's a space in the mmsc.
Probably shouldn't delete original APN settings just in case.
Download speedtest from the market
That's what my settings already are...

For those not sure, the password is "tm"
ok before i had DL 5kb/s and UP about 200kb/s
now after entering these settings i have DL 170kb/s UP 50kb/s
any idea if changing the settings will make us pay them some kind of extra charges?
I've tried this with vodafone and can confirm it works. In fact the settings I used were from vodafone's actual website under Vodafone MMS.
I was testing under HSDPA signal:

Hi I don't see how the settings mentioned would affect your browsing speed as by default the handset will only use this APN for MMS messages. My handset by default is set to use 'Vodafone Post-pay ISP' APN.
Hi
I can confirm that for T-Mobile UK changing the settings as mentioned does improve speed e.g. from download 0.5mb/s to 0.95mb/s (tested just before and after changing settings)
Thanks

not sure if its just me but on my phone (running a rooted custom rom) if I change the mnc to 30 (like stated above) the new apn is not saved and autimatically deleted.. If I leave the mnc on 33 it will then allow me to save the apn. anyone have a clue why this is?

Hi everyone,
Ive been testing the new ROMs for a while now and have flashe everything except for nprussells release from today. On all of them (with or without MMS fix) I found that MMS wouldnt work. Retesting MMS on most of the ROMs I've found that deleting all original APNs (as we normally do anyway) then adding 2 APNs as below resolves all MMS issues. I can now receive and send MMS without any additional apps, mods, etc.
To add 2 APNs: add one for data, call it whatever you want and add information ONLY for data access (no mmsc, etc) leave these as they are by default. Also leave APN type and authenication.
Then for the second APN add only the data server + MMS info. Again leave authentication blank. Then under APN type type mms.
Do not add any more info for data access and make sure that only the data APN can and is selected. Also ensure that there are no other APNs.
UK Network settings: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Hope this works!
ps I know that this has officially been resolved but I am sure Im still getting problems with not receiving some texts :s
I can't get MMS to work, could you expand a little more on your fix?
ie what exactly I would have to do ? (complete N00b here )

Hi,
Please provide more details on the problem - which ROM are you using and what have you done so far?
In detail you should download APN backup & restore from the market and use it to delete all APNs.
Then go to wireless settings, mobile network, access points.
Add two new APNs as described above - remember to save them both and set the data APN to active. Also make sure that mobile data is enabled. Then you may need to restart you phone although I didnt have to.
If you need specific settings then please let me know which network you are on and in which country so I can help you further

According to the O2 forums, you can only use one APN, so all settings have to be put into one (I have tried setting up 2 different ones and that didn't work either)

Hi there,
I am unable to add APN's to my desire for some reason. Whenever I add details and attempt to save them the APN isn't displayed in the APN list.
I have noticed however that this only occurs when I change the MCC or MNC to anything other than default.
Ive got some settings from a friends Nexus One who is on the same network that I am (MTN South Africa) and his works fine.
These are his settings:
INTERNET
name: MTN ZA
apn: internet
username: mtn
password: mtn
server: *
mcc: 655
mnc: 10
apn type: default,supl
MMS
name: MTN ZA-MMS
apn: myMTN
username: mtnmms
password: mtnmms
mmsc: 196.11.240.241
mms port: 8080
mcc: 655
mnc: 10
apn type: mms
I think it does save APN settings, but for some odd reason you can't see them any more after saving.
Same thing happens to me, but both: 3G and MMS work.

Yes sir I did
Any news on this?
I have an HTC Desire... Same problem... Any news?
same here, any fix?
any idea? bump.
same boat - there must be something going one.....anyone??
i have the same problem. whenever i try to add the mcc and mnc and save, nothing gets saved! i have a brand new desire and im very disappointed. if i cant browse the web then its pretty pointless..
i read somewhere it could be a permission problem with the sd card, so i formatted it, NO GO...
please help anyone!!
same thing's happening to me. any ideas?
also experiencing this issue.
Got it working!
I bypassed the market via the app "Market Access". It changed something to the sim value so the apn settings won't save.
Hope this helps!
i also had this problem, i just make a factory reset and every thing work fine ever since, and i have change the APNs several times after with out the issue
When this happened to me (blank APN settings screen - couldn't add / save) I did this:
Go to the APN settings page
Click MENU
Select "Reset to default"
Wait for confirmation of reset
Now click MENU
Touch "New APN"
Add your details per your carrier
Touch MENU
Touch "Save"
Worked for me roaming in the US with a UK Vodafone SIM dropped in an unlocked (not rooted) HTC Desire from UK T-Mobile.
They were saving but invisible
I had the same problem - they were saving but not being shown - when I changed to a SIM card from another provider they all showed upa nd I was able to select them. Not really a solution but if you have another sim card perhaps a workaround.

Hi, I recently unlocked my Incredible 2 and I'm in India. Hi there,
Just a small correction I found.
"APN TYPE : INTERNET + MMS" should be "APN TYPE : DEFAULT,MMS". I found the setting at http://androidforums.com/hero-support-troubleshooting/45005-mobile-network-apn-settings.html
Also that thread set the following proxy, port:
Proxy: 74.49.0.18
Port: 80
Once I made these change, I finally got Telus LTE data working again.
Thanks!

You don't need to set the proxy and port. Getting rid of the proxy is only really a concern if you want to block (some) adverts.
I believe "Internet + MMS" is for a device original to Telus. "default,mms" or "default,mms,supl" is for devices not from Telus. That's been my experience, anyway.
YMMV
I never get disappointed with XDA this thread saved my behind

When I get an MMS, it just gives me the option to download the msg, but never actually does.
Anyone have any idea?
Thanks

that is my settings also, now if ur using a different rom, from the N9005.. I get that message and its due to the message size, tmobile has 1mb download and overseas rom has 300mb, so if someone is send a pic that is too big, u won't receive it..
I jump around from different roms, and sometimes I get that when the pic is too big...
but if ur on a tmobile rom, u should not get that message..

Thanks for posting your settings.
So I'm glad I left my straight talk service active. After I left my house's wifi connection and drive one hour to work I found out that not one area within 1 hour of my home gets ANY t-mobile service. All I can connect to is AT&T, and with NO data services, since I'm roaming,
I switched to T-Mobile to take advantage of the Wifi Calling feature on my Note 3 N900T (Factory Unlocked). It works awesome, and is just what I need, since all I can get at my home is Verizon, sadly.
Anyhow, I'm going to give up on T-Mobile and go back to Straight Talk AT&T LTE and just live with not being able to Make or Receive calls on my Cell at home. It would be nice if AT&T would support this feature.
Does anyone know of a good WIFI calling service that integrates into your phone well? Without getting another number assigned to your phone, like most of the services (apps) on Google Play do.
Thanks.
