hey guys
I was wondering if there is anyone that has bought an unlocked TP2, and who has AT&T, could tell me if the unlocked version of the phone works with AT&T's 3G bands. I've been asking this question all around the rhodium forums, and I've been getting some very convincing answers, but I really need to hear it from someone who has actually purchased the phone and who has AT&T in the U.S.
and also, does anyone know if there is any form of warranty or insurance offered when you buy an unlocked phone?? that's one of my major needs, just in case something unexpected happens. If there isn't then I'm gonna have to wait until AT&T releases their "customized" version of the TP2. with all of AT&T's design flaws.
thanks!!
i dont believe so if i remember correctly it does not have 850 and 1900 band for highspeed...you would only get edge connection and make calls.
TP2 For USA?
I have also been looking high and low, I have located a decent website that really sets me at ease as a buyer the TP2 is not here yet, but it is still early- either way, the FAQ really set me at ease, I am planning my Tp2 to be purchased from them- not only is there an option to assure connectivity in the US on all levels of at&t'S network, but the freq's upon which the phone one purchases are listed on the site- AT&T to my understanding is on 850 & 1900 mhz- which is clearly displayed here- not only that, but here is a "compatibility" chart where one can actually select the network of any proposed purchase-
http://www.cellhut.com
Like I said, the FAQ really made me feel at ease- plus they offer an additional warranty along with the manufacturer's (for purchase)-
that is the plan, I will definitely post any positive results- It is tempting to just buy a new TyTNII sans the AT&T crap, plus the front camera, instead of waiting for the TP2...

Sorry to disappoint you but the best option is to wait for the AT&T release. Here's why:
Starting with the Touch Diamond and the Touch Pro, HTC released a European model which does not contain AT&T 3G bands and is only useable on the EDGE network which is much slower. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the only brand new factory unlocked versions have been the European or Asian models. The price is also much higher for an unbranded unlocked phone. All indications are that they will be doing the same thing with the Touch Pro2. The following is the specs on the TP2 straight from HTC's European website: Here's the link.
NetworkHSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
Up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
(Band frequency, HSPA availability, and data speed are operator dependent.)
You can see that HSPA (3G) is only supported at 900/2100. AT&T uses 850/1900 for 3G. I made the mistake of purchasing the HTC Touch Pro from Europe then had to sell it for a $400 loss on eBay and purchase the AT&T Fuze from an AT&T store.
Typically, HTC releases their new devices in Europe and Asia 1-2 months prior to a US release. It may be torture to have to sit and wait on it while your friends across the pond are already flashing new ROMs to their new shiny phone, but you'll be much better off.
really? there is another thread on the rhodium forum titled "unbranded touch pro 2" and the thread starter posted a link from infosync.com saying that HTC is planning to release a version of the TP2 in the summer that will be compatible with AT&T's 3G bands. how true is that? i hope its true! im getting really anxious and impatient!

Yes, I read that after I made my post above. That is great news since I don't think I am going to like AT&T's modifications. I am not eligible for an upgrade yet anyway since I bought the Fuze not that long ago. I wonder if it will be released at the same time as the Europe/Asia models.
I can't find the TP2 on cellhut.com. They must have taken it off their site. I certainly wouldn't trust a dealer that I am not familiar with and hasn't been vouched for on this forum.
don't you think the reason it's not on the site is because it's not out yet? I was actually thinking about just buying it straight from HTC, but the one thing I need to be sure of is if it will support AT&T's 3G bands.
so none of the TP2s being sold on expansys or any of the other sites that are offering them will support U.S. 3G?

Expansys has the UK model listed. They will probably sell the US unlocked version as well, but I would never buy from them again. They lie about items being in stock and I have never received anything from them quickly. When I've purchased from overseas in the past I have used Clove who have always been honest about stock and are very fast shippers. Hopefully newegg.com will have it. They sell some other unlocked HTC phones.
so once those sites start selling the US unlocked TP2, we can buy it from there and they'll work with the US 3G bands right? we just have to wait until the unlocked ones are available online?
Hey everybody,
I actually emailed HTC-America ([email protected]) and I asked them if the Unlocked-US version of the TP2 would support 3G networks. I said that they confirmed on their twitter feed that it would be coming to the US, so I was rightly wondering whether an Unlocked-US version would support our weird 3G frequencies.
I think there was a misunderstanding because they said that the HTC twitter feed was in no way run or affiliated with HTC, which doesn't make sense because ON the TP2's product overview page, they actually link to their Facebook, YouTube, and TWITTER accounts.
So I emailed them back saying that of course they have to run that twitter feed, and asked them the question again, but they probably won't get back to me until Monday at least. I'll keep everybody updated on the responses I get, as I, and many others, would REALLY hate to buy another AT&T subsidized model of anything.
Dave
thank man that's good. that doesn't make any sense tho! how can they say that they're not affiliated with the HTC twitter feed? that's stupid lol. keep us updated bro!!!

I mention Clove in case you ever plan to buy from the UK. Quite positive they won't be selling the US version anyway. If there is a US unlocked version look for it to say UMTS or HSPA with the bands 850/1900. For GSM it will be quad-band and work most places in the world. Of course, online retailers sometimes make mistakes in their listings so you may want to confirm it by contacting the company you purchase from, or even better wait for someone who bought one to post their results in this forum.
I got the reply from HTC today, and it was a kind of mixed answer. The reply to my last email I sent was this:
... I understand how important it is to have the full information for upcoming products. Until there is information for this product available on HTC's United States web page, then we would not be able to confirm the specs for an American release of this device ...

Soooo, even though they "officially" announced it coming to the US, it's not officially announced that it's coming to the US? I don't know what they mean, but by the way the email used "until" instead of "unless" and other ways it was phrased, I think the answer is yes, we will get an American release. But, maybe I'm just over analyzing it. Tell me what you guys think about it.
Dave
it just seems like they don't wanna give away any info about the TP2, even tho they already did. they're not making any sense by saying there is no word on a U.S. release, when we all know that there was an announcement of a U.S. release a while back. seems like they're basically saying there will be a U.S. release; they just wanna be secretive about it at the moment, which seems pointless to me

i think that its more so the fact that when it come to the US they have contracts with all these companies that rebrand the device. so they choose to with hold the info to give those companies the best chance at selling the rebranded products.
htc will not be releasing a unlocked U.S. Touch Pro 2. at&t version will be called the fortress and is suppose 2 come out in july. Then you can unlock that version like my fuze is.

I agree with you that there will not likely be a US unlocked version since I don't recall HTC ever doing that before, but how do you know for sure? Also, I haven't heard any time frame for at&t's release until I just read your quote saying July. Where did you hear that? Was it from a reliable source? Thanks.
^ U might want to wait (like many of us), and not live on the EDGE w/o 3G!
I haven't heard a peep out of them. Even phoned them up today to ask and the lady simply told me they have nothing on their systems.
I find it strange as they were always such strong supporters of Android and from the G1 to the Nexus devices. I've seen this, but nothing else to back it up.
Anyone know anything about T-Mobile and if they are simply going to offer it later or they are actually not offering it at all?

Replies on their Facebook page vary from "no info yet" to "we're not going to stock it".
It seems the only way to get it on T-Mobile is going to be through a third party supplier. And none of those are advertising upgrade prices - they all ask you to call.
I'm seriously considering porting my number to a PAYG O2 SIM and then returning to T-Mobile as a new customer.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED WITH AN OVER-THE-AIR UPDATE BY GOOGLE. IF YOU SUFFER FROM THIS PROBLEM THEN YOU SHOULD WAIT FOR THE UPDATE TO ARRIVE ON YOUR DEVICE.
Full details:
What the problem is
The device has an issue of volume acting strangely. Most often the volume mutes very quickly. Sometimes the volume starts 'jumping' between muted and loud very quickly.
This volume issue happens often during phone calls, using internet or receiving SMS text messages.
Some users are also reporting that when calling, they can hear 'radio interference' sounds.
The device is often unresponsive while the problem happens. Power button not working for the brief time has been reported.
How it happens
The problem happens while the device uses GSM 900 network, that is when the device is in 2G.
Your phone is on 2G when it uses E (Edge) and G (GPRS) connections, both data and mobile. If data is used, a small letter near signal indicator points out what you are connected to.
The problem happens while another device that is on GSM 900 is nearby and is transmitting in 2G network. This happens even if Nexus itself is not using any networks at the time (such as when radios are off and the device is in Airplane mode).
The problem is more evident when user is in low-signal area and more 2G information is transmitted.
The problem also happens in bootloader and is not the fault of Android 4.0 itself.
Please remember that the problem does not happen for all 2G networks, some 2G networks (especially outside Europe) do not use GSM 900.
How many users are affected
Every Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset seems to be affected by this problem. Majority of users however are not encountering the problem due to not using GSM 900 2G networks.
2G networks working on GSM 900 are majority of Europe, Africa, Australia, Middle East and large part of Asia.
In UK, the GSM 900 is used by O2, Vodafone, giffgaff, Tesco Mobile.
What Samsung and Google are saying
No official statements from Samsung other than asking people to send details of the problems on their customer support e-mail ([email protected]).
Samsung did post a quote on their Samsung UK Facebook wall that says 'We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.' This quote is said to be originating from Google according to Samsung, Clove, androidpolice.com and The Verge.
Google employee has confirmed in an Android developer chatroom that Google is developing or has developed a software fix for the problem.
Another Google employee, Dan Morrill, shared a post by Lee Johnson on his wall and said that he is very accurate in his estimation about how software can fix this hardware flaw.
Google has replied to a customer support thread that there is a fix and it will be rolled out in the coming week. It is possible that the 'coming week' refers to week starting 5th of December.
What sellers are saying
Handtec and Clove conducted additional testing on the devices and both found the volume bug to exist on their devices.
Handtec stopped the shipments after the problem became widely known. Samsung Distribution also stopped shipments for sellers few days later, delaying shipments of the device for a week.
Clove stated that according to what they heard from Google, that a software fix is being worked upon. Clove stated that according to their sources the problem is in software and not hardware. Clove has not gotten this information from Google or Samsung directly however and refers to their inside research about information found online and their own sources.
While it was originally believed that the shipment delays are because of Samsung flashing the devices with updated software that will fix the bug, the new devices shipped on 29.11 also carry the bug according to Clove. It seems Samsung held the shipments to give Google additional testing time with the fix and held back possible refunds and replacement handsets would have gotten had the shipments not been held back.
Is it hardware or software problem?
All the tests conducted by many users so far indicate that the problem is in hardware and that the device receives signals from 2G that it should not receive due to not being protected from radio interference. This is also shown while the device runs in bootloader.
Many engineers here and in other forums and social networks say that a cheap hardware shielding would fix the problem easily, however Samsung and Google intend to fix the problem with possibly as valid means through software.
If the software fix manages to patch the problem, then it really does not matter if the problem was in software or hardware, as long as the device works properly and there are no after-effects, since some users fear that the software fix of a hardware might cause additional battery drain or unresponsiveness problems. But this is merely an opinion, we will know more once the patch is out.
The flaw is confirmed to be a hardware flaw by engineers, as well as a Google employee (referred to above). But both state that it is common for this type of hardware flaw to be patched with software and it is likely that many devices you already own have such patches in place without you knowing it.
What you can do
Wait for the update to arrive on your Galaxy Nexus. Google is slowly rolling out a fix to all handsets right now. Make sure you have internet or data connection for the update and have your phone in a charger just in case while updating.
Have it on mine
bought from Phones4u in the Trafford centre, Manchester
This looks really bad. While I am sure many people who don't have this problem won't even bother to vote in this thread, the fact that there's just one vote for someone who does not have a problem, is a surprise. I expected 50%-50% at worst.
Bought mine from O2 store in Liverpool. Problem continues even after factory reset.
Phones4u market street manchester.
I also posted the problem on Samsung UK Facebook page, those of you who have a problem should post there too so they are made aware of the problem. This might help get to the bottom of things quicker.

Anyone reported to Google support forum?
dont have the device yet so would be hard for me to respond when google asks for logs etc. That would be the best thing to do though.
According to this video, it seriously looks like a hardware issue, so letting us know where you got the phone would be even more helpful.

I haven't noticed any problem with my phone but I have locale installed so I'm not sure if that is masking the problem.
to those trying to replicate, try turning off wifi, then disabling 3G (settings - wireless & networks - more - mobile networks - use only 2G networks). When it connects, get some data going (load a large website for example), or make a call, see if that sets it off.
it may not work 100% of the time (if it's really radio interference, there are a lot of variables) but it seems to be related.
I do have this issue. Got mine at the launch event at the Oxford Street Phones 4U.
Anyway in the other thread it looks like people are narrowing down the problem to something related to 3G or Wi-Fi signal. I think that might be the case since it had only happened to me while I am outside and not connected to Wi-Fi. (I use JuiceDefender to automatically disable Wi-Fi if it doesn't find any known spots)
I got mine from Oxford St. too. Same problem here.

had this problem yesterday with my vodafone sim.
been using it with my o2 sim today and not had the issue occur.
doubt the network would be an issue but thought i'ld just throw it in there.
yep, I have the problem too. I got mine from Phones 4 u On the lauch day in Oxford Circus. Hope this is not HW related!
I seem to have this problem intermittently. Thought it was just me doing something wrong.
Got mine from O2 over the phone.
I'm assuming it can be fixed with a software patch.
Im also having this issue. Purchased from phones4u today 19th nov 2011.
Dosnt happen all the time though. It did happen when i had my old desire next to it and was loading spotify on my desire....
What software version does everyone have? Hopefully the next (assuming 4.0.2) will fix it.
I've noticed on other sites that this comment by HTC has somehow convinced people it is possible to get an unlocked device on Verizon.
This is FALSE
Verizon will NOT activate a non-Verizon model of The One. I already tried to activate the Google Edition and failed. The rep told me "It's because it doesn't have Verizon software on it". I responded by saying "That's the whole point" and she didn't have much to say.
Nobody should think that this is about people trying to get "cheap" unlocked phones - it's about having ANY unlocked option.
This is about our ISP trying to control our computers hardware and software, and we need to recognize this and fight back. Otherwise, before you know it, Comcast will be forcing you to buy their computers and run their software just to use the internet.

Actually, they don't come with the CDMA radios that are necessary to operate on Verizon's network. The person you talked to didn't know what they're talking about, the device couldn't be activated even if the rep wanted to.

Lol good job trying the google edition on VZW, given that it does not have a CDMA radio or the proper LTE bands
it also looks like if Verizon gets the Nexus 5, it will be its own version like the galaxy nexus. The version that passed through the FCC didn't have verizon bands.

Yeah I know, kinda stupid. But it was because I had just read this whole article about how if you wanted to get The One on VZW early, you could just buy the Google Play edition.
The website was also VERY unclear about carrier support. Without doing research on the exact frequencies, there was really no way for the average person to know that it wouldn't work on Verizon.
It honestly felt like I was duped. So I shipped the phone back to Google, but then they never issued me a refund even after 30 days. Only after calling my credit card company did they refund all but a 15% restocking fee. Doing business with Google blows.

TBH... it's your fault for trusting garbage blogspam. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's just what it boils down to. A quick 30 second look around the site shows that all they do is copy and paste the same filler text for each "article", change up a few words, and post it.
On top of that, it's common knowledge that Verizon is a CDMA carrier and does not just let you activate any random phone on their network. Only GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile allow that.

I don't really care if you think it's my fault. Thanks for sharing though :good:
UPDATE: after two separate tweets from the U.S. T-mobile company official Twitter account stating (or implying) that LTE band 71 (600 MHz) would also be included in the "carrier unlocked" version of the LG V30, now the U.S. "T-mobile Help" (customer service) Twitter teams says they don't know. Please note this is a different department than those "T-mobile" Twitter team (management) who said yes.
But thanks to @Septfox for trying to pin down the answer, even if it's "we don't know".
Since the LTE band 71 has NOT shown up on US998 in FCC documentation, this probably means no. UNLESS:
1) LG submits a revised spec sheet to the FCC, which can be done. It would actually be in T-mobile's best interest for LG to enable that band on the "carrier unlocked" model. While T-mobile would not make money off hardware sales, they would gain additional customers who are considering switching. (Many people want a phone NOW, but need to get their ducks in a row family-wise to switch over to a new carrier.)
2) T-mobile radio can be flashed onto rooted "carrier unlocked" LG V30 US998. All the LG V30 hardware (antennas, etc) should be the same. At least from manufacturing efficiency it should be the same. Then it just depends on the firmware to enable specific bands.
_________
ORIGINAL POST:
T-mobile LTE band 71 (600 MHz) will also be available on "carrier unlocked" LG V30, not just on T-mobile's LG V30
LG V30 US998 will have ALL the U.S. carrier bands, so you can take it to any carrier you wish -- even T-mobile. Otherwise it would be pointless to have a U.S. unlocked carrier version if there were any carrier bands it did not have.
This is also the LG V30 model number that will be eligible for REAL bootloader unlock, unlike the recent T-Mobile LG G6.
______
T-mobile has LTE band 71 on their newly implemented 600 MHz spectrum and the LG V30 is the first phone to use that band.
While LG also releases "carrier unlocked" versions of their flagship phones, which qualify for REAL bootloader unlock and thus root, TWRP, custom ROMS, etc., no spec websites have listed LTE band 71 (600 MHz) on the upcoming carrier unlocked LG V30 US998. (While not yet announced, we know the model number because B&H Photo has a placeholder page and it matches previous "carrier unlocked" model sequences. It's also the model given to reviewers during the pre-announcement embargo period back in August.)
So, people assume and even T-mobile customer service reps have stated that to get LTE band 71, you must buy the T-mobile variant of the LG V30.
For people who want dev work, this was disappointing, because while T-mobile previously was dev friendly with either unlocked bootloaders or easily unlocked bootloaders, this has changed in the past year. I could give multiple examples, but the most relevant is the recent LG G6... The T-mobile LG V6 bootloader is ostensibly able to be unlocked, but not really. LG/T-mobile removed all ADB flash commands except for bootloader unlock.

Like having the keys to the car, but there's no car. In effect, the phone is still locked down. So, months later still NO root, no TWRP, nothing can be done.
Six months later, there's still no root (even with a 22 page root bounty thread), no usable TWRP and no usuable ROMs. Yes, some devs have ported ROMS for the T-mobile LG G6, but no one can use them. Meanwhile the UNLOCKED LG G6 phones have tons of dev work, because they qualify for REAL bootloader unlock.
A second subset of stakeholders are people who are considering switching to T-mobile (or T-mobile affiliated MVNOs) in the future. They would have to buy T-mobile LG V30 now to be future proof, as T-mobile will roll out more of this 600 MHz spectrum in coming years. The "carrier unlocked" model (which can be taken to ANY carrier) would not work for them, if it didn't have LTE band 71...
Then, yesterday, from the official T-mobile Twitter account, T-mobile stated that to get full 600 MHz experience, you could buy their LG V30 OR buy the unlocked version direct from LG.

Well, the unlocked version is LG V30 US998. And yes, while you can buy unlocked versions straight from LG if it makes you feel better, you can also buy them online at B&H, Amazon, even eBay.
IF TRUE, this is great news for the dev community and for LG V30 users. This is also NEWS because no other websites are stating this. And if T-mobile is officially stating this through Twitter -- just like they have officially announced many other things, why wouldn't it be true?
I've contacted one spec website for them to correct their now outdated information, and sent it to XDA News as it's big news.

I must be the only person reading that Twitter quote as buyers having the option of purchasing either 1) from tmobile to get 600mhz support or 2) from lg to get the unlocked phone ( but no 600mhz support). This from the sentence structure. I hope I am wrong.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who read it like this, thought I was just being paranoid :v
I did send them a tweet myself, but because I'm an idiot and tired, I didn't word it so that the "yes" replay was explicitly for the unlocked variant.

Someone else tweet'em, ask if the unlocked, non-carrier variant will have 600mhz support without having to mess with it. Just that, don't mention the T-Mobile variant at all. I'm going to bed : |

Still, this seemingly twice via Twitter they've stated/implied the unlocked carrier version of the LG V30 will also have 600 MHz LTE band 71. IF they are NOT saying that, it's very misleading. Yeah, I also parsed the original tweet, but decided it made more sense to take it at face value... Why would you have a carrier unlocked phone if it didn't have all the carrier bands? I may be wrong, and if so, I'll be the first to update the the first post.
NOTE: Please, NO ONE quote any online or phone T-mobile customer service reps. Those people don't really know about stuff like this. Yes, even at the "highest levels". And I mean that in the nicest way. [emoji14] I don't know how many times I have seen transcripts posted here on XDA "proving" something from from various customer service "chats" (escalated to the "highest level") -- which of course were totally wrong.
One example specifically was Samsung online customer service reps saying the Galaxy S8/S8+ Snapdragon U.S. "carrier unlocked" version would also have bootloader unlock? We KNEW that was wrong, even before the phone was released.
"But I have the transcripts!" Doesn't prove a thing.
At least Twitter posts from company account are considered official company statements. And I happily accept those as proof. Even the president of T-mobile re-tweets the company's Twitter posts.

Hopefully I'm just reading too much into it, but the FCC documentation supports only the T-Mobile variant getting band 71 iirc. We'll see in a couple weeks.
In other news, apparently the 128gb variant isn't going to be that much more expensive, something like $50...but I can't remember where I saw that.

I have no explanation for the FCC findings unless there's going to be a "revised" submission or something before the US998 model is officially announced.
Other related questions are whether the unlocked V30 will support volte and/or wifi calling.
Based on the info in this link, it appears that unlocked LG devices do not have a good track record of supporting these features. I hope that changes with the V30.

That would be my guess, yea. Someone over on reddit has suggested that if what T-Mobile says is true, it might mean that LG has/is going to file a class 2 permissive change so they don't have to go through all the hoops again.

I read somewhere earlier that someone successfully used VoLTE on Verizon using an unlocked g6, no screwing around needed. No wifi calling, though.
The g6 is probably the closest thing to an actual predecessor for the v30, and as far as I've seen Verizon sets the bar highest for "how much of a pain in the ass do we want to make it for non-native-variant phones to use our features". So I would expect carrier-agnostic VoLTE/HD Voice/etc at the least, and extras like wifi calling requiring some custom tweaking to get working.
At this point in smartphone history, the V30 (i.e. US Unlocked) not having wifi calling would be epically stupid. I find it hard to fathom LG would not include wifi calling on this device but then again some of these companies have a history of omitting "no-brainers" .
I'm not fond of 18:9 but will accept it. If on top of that LG leaves out wifi calling it would give me pause...
I'm with mintsim (tmo) so 600 mhz is great but wouldn't a deal breaker.
I really hope this is wrong but...
This is what they said to me.

Great question! You would need to purchase the T-Mobile LG V30 when it comes out in order to take advantage of our Band 71. *RickK
I am a new user so I cannot link directly to this but feel free to look it up. Maybe RickK doesn't know what he is talking about, right??

The problem is, wifi calling requires support from the carrier end, probably their special app, and maybe even some special RIL and framework stuff depending on the carrier. You're on a phone that you went out of your way to not buy from them, so they're not exactly inclined to provide any of that for inclusion in the OEM's ROM.
And that's the impression I get of using unlocked phones here in the US: technically you can go to any carrier you want, but getting features beyond voice and data working pretty much depends on whether or not they decided to make things easy and use AOSP implementations (like what looks to be the case with VoLTE), or an enterprising dev manages to spackle something workable together.
... or maybe I'm full of crap, who knows. I'm on Tracfone, MVNOs don't get all this fancy stuff :v

Considering the ambiguity of the other tweets, and the FCC entry lacking b71, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he were right.
Sure would be great if LG would respond on Twitter. I know it's an unreleased product, but come on. I really don't see the issue with providing potential customers a bit of basic information that could make or break their decision to purchase said product.
Pointing out again that, regardless of official support, it's not terribly unlikely that the hardware is the same, making enabling b71 manually a possibility. We should get one of the review unit people to try screwing with service menu settings, to start.

Can't sleep, going at this again.
Between canned responses and conflicting tweets, I'm getting the impression that T-mobile doesn't actually have the information.
https://twitter.com/Xoftpes/status/908608113124577281
Finally. As I suspected, T-Mobile (or at least, their Twitter team) doesn't actually know.
And it makes sense that they wouldn't; T-Mobile quite frankly doesn't need to know anything about the unlocked variant, and it's not as if LG is particularly keen on volunteering information at the moment.
They're concerned about their own variant having support, and rightfully so considering it's the first and currently only phone that does (on a somewhat related note: FCC filing says that the Pixel XL2 doesn't have it).
If it's not already in the works, I would expect LG to file a C2PC after people start complaining that their unlocked phone has an incomplete set of important bands, and failing that...aforementioned other options.

Thank you, that's actually more helpful that the silly online customer support reps who give wrong answers. The company Twitter team statements are considered official, in that the T-mobile president often retweets them for new features/plans, etc. Which is why the first two tweets were NEWS, that seemingly LTE band 71 (600 MHz) would also be included in the "carrier unlocked" version of the LG V30.
_____________
UPDATE: after two separate tweets from the U.S. T-mobile company official Twitter account stating (or implying) that LTE band 71 (600 MHz) would also be included in the "carrier unlocked" version of the LG V30, now the U.S. T-mobile Twitter teams says the don't know.
I'm laughing at you than. Because that's a tweet I shared.

Not condescending or rude to reiterate customer support reps statements will not be accepted as proof.
I said that earlier in the thread, and gave proof why. Go read the hyperlink post I gave as one example. And over the years I've seen many more. Customer service reps are notoriously ill informed on technical matters.
Then customer support transcript was posted anyways? If you read the thread, I clearly asked please do not offer something like that as proof.
For me, only T-Mobile or LG official company statement is acceptable, of which company Twitter account is an example.

I'm not talking about tweets. If you shared a T-Mobile company tweet, that is legit.
I'm talking about online customer chats.
Which was it?
It was news because in two separate company tweets T-Mobile stated or implied the carrier unlocked version of the LG V30 would have LTE band 71.
Now @Septfox has pinned them down further and they say (via Twitter) they do not know.
That's where it stands.
If you have a company tweet clearly saying no on this question, then post it. Because your first post sounded very much like online customer support chat or something.
My replies have been detailed and clear on acceptable proof.
It is a tweet!

Original posts (plural) saying yes or implying it were from "T-Mobile" account while these two latest are from "T-Mobile Help". I KNOW T-Mobile customer service ("Help") has been told to say you have to buy T-Mobile branded phone.
I was hoping "T-Mobile" knew something "T-Mobile Help" did not.
And yes, I hope LG files C2PC with FCC to enable that band on the carrier unlocked version. It would benefit both LG and T-Mobile.

Why would LG/Google do that? Leave that off the Pixel XL 2? They don't need T-Mobile "permission" to include that LTE band 71, and LG already has the test data, etc.
