Tmobile GSM Touch Pro 2 NOOB HELP!!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android Development

Hello people, I am doing this from work so I hope you can understand why I really haven't had 100% time to devote to researching (I did however devote more than 80% to research) I Have a US T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. I flashed a ROM on it about a month ago and then I got hooked but I wanted something that I saw where the ROM has animated gestures for Weather and other cool aesthetic features (Manila 2.6, or ManilaMan I believe). I do still need it to be not freezing and such. I went and tried to install a manila rom and after that I got freezing and my screen wouldn't get back to normal (it stays just black) I was told I may need to wipe my phone clean (perhaps with Task 29) and flash a normal compatible T-Mobile US rom and THEN put the FLASHY looking COOKED ROMS on. Basically I would like to have a nice flashy rom without the stuttering slowdowns on my TP2 also and I'd like to know what to do 1st. I've seen plenty of threads that end up giving you 98% information and the other 2% ends up bricking your phone. If I could get some links to better my search for knowledge I would really like that. I know this is long and I truly appreciate this, I haven't even made a twitter account yet.lol. Enjoy your day people.

Head on over to the WinMo ROM development board and get the latest EnergyROM. The one with Manila 2.5. I'm pretty sure that's what you're looking for

htc hd2 touchflo on at&t tilt2

I am a little new to XDA...but I cant really find a straight answer to a question I have.
I just purchased the tilt2...love it. Unfortunately, I watched videos on the new hd2, and while I don't want the phone....gotta have my keyboard....I think a couple of the touchflo tabs make MUCH more sense.
So basically, I am wondering if cooks on here feel that at some point they will be able to offer some of those features in .cab files?
I dont want a whole new rom, I tried that on my original tilt...and it just never worked perfect, gps problems, some menus didnt look right. I really just want the phone to work perfectly like at&t intended...but with the new contacts tab, email tab, and maybe the new home screen that allows weather backgrounds and I believe allows a couple contacts straight on it.
Anyway...based on how people have been able to pull apart software for these phones...does this sound possible? or is touchflo simply too complicated to only pull parts of it out? I wouldnt want to simply entirely replace my at&t tilt 2 touchflo version with the hd2 version because I have heard that you would lose landscape mode for touchflo?
Anyway...just wondering if I can hope for this...or if I simply need to accept what I have until the touch pro 3 comes out?
p.s. I am assuming I would need that new version for what I wanted..unless hacks are possible? Basically I love the new email tab that allows you to read your emails right from there instead of showing them in an envelope.
I like the new contacts tab much better....more functional than that rotating carousel thing.
New today screen is nice with the weather background...and I like the idea of contacts on that screen.
No, you aren't going be able to change your TF3D with a simple .cab file.
It would require the flashing of a new ROM.
the HD2 'Sense' interface is Manila 2.5 and is in many ROMs over at the development section. Since Manila 2.5 is only designed for the HD2, when using the interface there is no landscape support for when the keyboard is slid out.
No one in xda-deveolopers has shown the ability to be able to take some features from Manila 2.1 and mix them with 2.5. If they could, I'm sure HTC would hire them in a heartbeat. HTC has an entire team of paid workers that create the Manilas. It takes time and skill and LOTS of work.
I would recommend just flashing a good Manila 2.1 ROM. Get rid of your AT&T bloatware. NGRZ's Photon ROM (in my signature) is a good place to start. It is very fast, stable, and comes preloaded with a ton of useful apps.
You will have less problems with his ROM than AT&T's stock ROM.

Thank you for the response...I figured that was the case.
So let me ask you...I am very nervous about flashing the ROM on my brand new expensive phone. My main concerns:
1. Is their an easy way to go back to the stock setup?
2. When i flashed my first tilt, I had radio problems that never really got fixed
3. What advantage does that ROM have over the stock...other than space? I find the stock ROM has pretty decent speed honestly
4. My main concern: I don't like losing any of the functionality of the stock ROM...I actually like the default ATT opera page, etc.
5. If I could find a ROM that would simply remove things like the ATT mall, but otherwise leave everything else stock..and work just as good as stock...gps, opera, keyboard mapping, etc. I would do it. Oh...I wouldnt mind having custom wallpaper on all tabs.

Here's some feedback:
1. Right now, no -- since the Tilt2 has just been released, many folks are waiting for someone to successfully dump the stock ROM in case we need to go back.
2. Many of the custom ROMs do not include a new radio -- you'll just have to read up and decide which ones you like.
3. Every custom ROM has a different advantage. In some cases its visual, in other cases speed, stability, and some are just highly experimental with features taken from other phones.
4/5. Again since the Tilt2 is so new, give it a little time. Usually there are some chefs who feel the same way you do and will use a stock ROM and just make minor tweaks like taking out some unnecessary bloat and adding some useful programs.
I would recommend if the stock ROM is working ok for you, to stick with it for the time being until some more ATT specific ROMs start getting developed and you find one that will suit your individual needs.

4/5. Perfect, thats a great answer for me. I think that's what I really want is a stock ROM with some tweaks for speed and bloat.
A. Does a stock tweaked ROM usually mean I dont need to worry about fiddling with radios? and the GPS and stuff works just like stock?
B. Any specific ROM chefs that you know of that I should follow that typically do these types of ROMs?
oh..this is unrelated, but does anyone know why I am having issues running software that seems to work fine on other touch pro 2's...I keep getting errors about .net versions being wrong. I tried installing the .net compact package from Microsoft..but it just says it fails during install. This is kind of a pain because I can't get some really common apps to install.

any benifts to 6.5 on jan 20

any benifts to 6.5 on jan 20 ...campared to 6.1
heh?
heh? can you give more details about your question?
He's talking about the WinMo 6.5 upgrade for T-Mobile that is scheduled for official release on 1/20. It's the same leaked one that has been floating around for the last week or so.
To answer the question, I was running it for about 4-5 days. It's a solid ROM, but it's nothing to brag about. It's actually a little slower than most cooked ROMs offered in this forum. If you haven't done HardSPL and tried a cooked ROM, I would suggest doing so. You can always re-SPL/lock your phone if you need to return it for warranty purposes, and now that there is an official T-Mobile ROM you can just re-SPL/lock and then flash the 6.5 T-Mobile ROM to send it back.
T-mobile already official released WM 6.5 two days ago, (it is the same one leaked few weeks ago), see here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1611377
It is a very crappy ROM

It's the official version, I'm sure, but it's not officially released until it shows up here: Windows Mobile Upgrade. The fact that the link is hidden -- i.e., it's not published on T-Mobile's website nor on HTC's website -- means that they haven't released it.
I don't think it's crappy. Sure, that's a matter of opinion...but I've been running custom roms for months that are well beyond T-Mo's WM6.5, and I have to say it's not bad.
I like the new Tmo rom out now but in time will look at some other roms. Just want to make sure that the official go gets my official go lol. I can tell some effort was put into it so its not bad at all.
Looks to be legit, I stand corrected.
kable said:
Its not the official T-Mobile Rom because it doesn't have the T-Mobile Logo on the Startup animation which means it still needs to be updated if only to add that. Who knows what else might be added or removed. Until then its a prerelease.

The one I flashed from the hidden-official link (not the leaked link of 7-Jan) has the "Stick Together" boot screen...which is T-Mo USA.
My phone didn't have that boot screen...lost it months ago when I first flashed a custom (WWE) rom.
ive been running it now since it was leaked, and I love it.... Im staying on this rom more than likely, but I want to try a custom rom, as its been a while since I flashed any cooked ones........... Of topic but whats a good leo 6.5.3 rom with the least bugs???????? Anyone??????????

Keep flashing...keep reading...it all depends on what your taste is like, and what you use your phone for!
i hate hearing keep flashing and reading..... Lol read any thread on any custom rom and its nothing but issues..... Im not into taste, I want stability, if ya cant suggest that, please dont suggest the obvious which ive already done, just wondering if anyone could steer in the right bugless rom direction....... But ill do what I always do, read and get discouraged from all the complaints........ thanks
I've been running the leaked rom for about 1 week now and so far it's a little slower than the stock 6.1 rom. Probably because it consumes more resources. My memory is always around 60% when it used to be 50% on the old rom.
The bugs i've found were:
I'm getting will not wake from standby about 1-3 times a day.
Music will not play after a soft reboot or after connected to the PC in Mass Storage Mode. It seems the media is scanning in the background but there's no message saying so. It would take about 20 mins before a file can be played for 6gigs of music.
Looking to install the new Rom, it's official now.
I've been using Timor for the past month or so and I've loved it. Very fast and Very stable. I've only had a couple problems where it freezes in the transition from texting to the home screen. Other than that it's my fav so far.

The cooked ROMs off of this site have worked out better for me than the stock ones. If I find something that doesn't work I can complain about it and the chef get around to fixing the problem. Try getting T-Mobile to fix something and then post it in a decent amount of time.
In my view, cooked ROMS are way way ahead of stock roms, be they wm6.1 or wm6.5.
The stock built ROMS are too "flat", less imaginative and too much of light weights for devices with unlimited potential like my tp2.
I just gotta say that temperbad does have a point. As someone who likes to hear technical issues as well rather than personal thoughts, it can be a bit frustrating to be trying to get some real bugs, issues with a ROM and have to wade throught comments about colors of screens, and how nice the buttons look. I wanna know a) what goes wrong, b) how does it happen, c) is there a fix. Whether the start menu seems shinier than others is irrelevant to me. Perhaps others feel the same?
well i flashed the 6.5 ...its ok ,i like it ...but nothing extra special about it ...the 6.1 was almost the same...all they did was add a few extra features and colors...with my original 6.1 i could get the same cabs of this site, but it is stable...my next move would be flashing a cooked rom ...but i dont now which one till i read the bourd
Flash It!
I flashed it about a week ago and I really, really like it. The RAM usage IS slightly higher, but I would think that's to be expected. But IMO, the new ROM is faster than the old stock 6.1 ROM I was using. Very stable and no freezes and the like, and that is after adding a couple thousand contacts, syncing a gazillion text messages, and adding a boatload of programs. Plus WM 6.5 is negligibly better aesthetically than 6.1....but better nonetheless.
The plan was to try the stock ROM along with a couple other custom ROMs on the same day...but I've been really satisfied with the stock ROM. Which the exception of Sense 2.5, I personally don't know what I'm missing with the custom ROMs...but I'd love it if someone would tell me specifically what that is.
On the same note, as a new member to this site, I love the forum format for FAQ's and such, but I really wish the site was easier to filter through. For instance, I considered flashing a "Energy" ROM. After deciphering the thread topics and finding his kitchen, then seeing that that there were about a million posts in the thread, I just got lazy and stuck with the stock ROM What if each cook had a "store" that he or she controlled with multiple threads in his store for each ROM and iteration of them...? Though I'm new to this community, I don't believe you would sacrifice the essence of the site with more usability. I guess that would take some web developers and additional resources so it's probably wishful thinking. But since they're talking about bringing in non-HTC phones I don't think it should be out of the question.
I also didn't realize initially that a lot of the themes, task bars, ROM's, software, and etc that are compatible with the TP2 are actually in other phone forums that run WM 6.1+ and Sense UI. Then of course, there's the generic applications and themes forums. It can be a bit much at times if you're anal like me and you want a certain clock and a specific taskbar. I don't mind searching at all, but try a search for "transparent clock" or "htc taskbar" only if you're brave...
ANYHOO *back on the trail* I like the new TMO 6.5 ROM. I don't have any benchmark tests or anything, but it "feels" faster to me. And far as I can tell, some of the cooked ROMs are stock ROMs with built in themes, minus bloatware, added tweaks, and built in software. I do all that stuff myself anyways
Try b16b's roms, 6.5.3 leo is awesome least buggiest one for me, and I've tried them all (even the legendary energy roms). You just need to install leo 2g dialer I think because the dialer will be missing, oh and it uses x2 task mgr (no task mgr in others 6.5.1 roms) and Ms stock msg. You'll be missing alot of things but you can always add it, I did.
no thanks he needs to finish the rom ...so we dont have to add cab files

I dont understand all these roms :(

hi all, if im right then my warrenty on my TP2 finishes in september.
So what im looking to do is stick a new cooked rom on there.
im pi55ed off with my phone because its sooo slow and it keeps failing on me but i dont want to get rid of it really because 99% of my friends either have crackberrys or ipoones and i want to be different.
i am a complete n00b with all the techy stuff like tweeking the phone.
I have a few questions for people with cooked roms
1 - what sort of memory does your rom run at?
2 - how long does your battery last and on what type of usage?
3 - do you need to keep doing soft re-sets?
4 - is your new rom quick and reliable?
5 - are all the features quick and realiable such as bluetooth?
i think thats it for now, i will start looking into the roms more from now on so i can hopefully just do it once and do it right the first time.
however if there are any chefs in london who are willing to build me a complete custom rom then PM me and we will discuss it further about the rom and pricing for your time ect...
THANKS in advance!!
1. The memory of some chef's ROMs can run as low as 40% on startup, moving up to about 50-60%. It depends. Look for the "lite" or "clean" ROMs for better memory.
2. The battery lasts me all day, heavy use through texting, phone calls, and internet. Using GPS, I'd imagine your battery would die fast, and phone calls don't seem to last longer than 3 hours before needing to be recharged.
3. Sadly, soft resets are needed for almost every WinMo device. That's the downside of all WinMo devices, though on the plus side, you get infinite customizability.
4. One of the most reliable ROMs with the most features is Valkyrie's ROM by Agent_47. I'm honestly no fanboy, but I have tried everyone else's ROMs, normal version, not lite or clean, and they all lack, or are crippled.
5. I don't use bluetooth, but wifi, phone signal, and GPS signal depend really on what radio you use. The different radios can be found in the ROM section. I use the most current one, .77, and I get good strength on all of the above.
thanks for the info, heres a bit more about my phone and its uage atm...
on the stock rom im using with using cleanram my phone runs around 60% - 70% but startup is just over 40%
Also i found my battery lasted 2 days when i had a 2gb card and now just over a day if im lucky with the 8gb card, so i may change it for a 4gb card which should be enough space for me.
Well, some clean and lite ROMs have as much as 80 MB free at start up (meaning, I believe that you would only have 20% on startup; any members can correct me if I'm wrong). I have only had 40% at most at startup, because I use feature packed ROMs.
I don't know anything about the SD card using more phone power, but you can give the 4 GB card a try. I get over 2 days on minimum usage with an 8 GB SD card. With max usage, as I said, I get about a full days use, with around 40-50% of battery life left.
also if anyone is local to me and wouldnt mind letting me have a quick play with there tp2 with a cooked rom to see how different it is to stock then please PM me
i went into a vodafone store today to double check about my warrenty, but after the 12 months manufacturer warrenty is over then vodafone have their own warrenty to cover the phone untill my contract is over.
now i know this im unsure if i should flash my rom now incase i do have anymore problems with the phone ??
what do you all suggest?
Just do the flash and get it over with You only have ONE first flash and then after that everything wont be as stressfull..
Also.. if you want to see what custom roms look like running on the phone just search for some custom roms on youtube. I'm sure you'll see some there. You'd get a more thurough view of what they do then if you were just bumbling around with it for 5 minutes on your own.
fair enough, i need to get my compuuter working then i guess to flash it!!
when tmo had a rom flash from wm 6.1 to 6.5, all i had to do was download the file...why are these roms on here implemented differently...???

Because custom ROM's don't have the critical "signature" that can only come from the manufacturer or carriers themselves. The stock SPL won't allow ROM's that don't have that signature, so that's why you have to replace SPL with a custom one when you want to flash ROM's issued by anybody than the carriers or HTC.
Sorry for the threadjack... but i was wondering the same things as the topic starter...
May i just add a few more questions?
*Roms like Energy, do they support BT and GPS?
*Is the problem with the sms lag (phone not waking on receiving) solved by a cooked rom?
*What are the major drawbacks when switching for standard to cooked? Ok the waranty is cancelled but anymore?
*I have a WWE version with WM6.5 ==> can i only install rom for 6.5 or can i install roms based on 6.1?
*I've looked at radios and the compatiblitylist... does this mean i have to install the wwe radio to get my device working?
feel free to ask questions here about roms ans im interested in the answers too
also the other week i saw a thread that had 2 cabs that make the TP2 run quicker and i had to get off of the laptop and now i cant find it. does anyone know what i mean if so can you help me locate the cabs.

I don't know about two cabs to make it run faster, but there's two that will help with the memory management and help keep more of it free for you, is that what you're thinking about? They're called the SSK Dynamic Resource Proxy cab and the no push internet cab.
I recently flashed deepshining x7 rom and I can't believe I waited so long. My TP2 feels faster and I love all the options available such as Cookie's home tabe editor and the such. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you flash. You can always flash back to the original if you don't like it.

You bet! And yeah, these are the first two cabs I recommend all new Rhodium owners run...I don't know if they'll clear up all your issues, but you should at least see a significant change in available RAM.
Ive just put them onto my phone and doing a soft reset!
Ive also changed to the windows today menu last night and its running a bit better with that!!

Slow performance after WM6.5 upgrade

Hi, I have a Verzion TP2 and finally took the plunge to do the VZW WM6.5 upgrade.
Bad decision! I'm experiencing really slow performance and reduced battery life.
I like some of the new features, but the slow performance is not acceptable.
Anyone have any good advice for speeding things up? I know disabling sense UI will help, but then it would just be another crappy WM UI phone.
I did some searching here and wasn't able to find much. (Admittedly I didn't spent tons of time looking.)
Help is greatly appreciated! TIA!
Just put a custom rom on your phone and most of your problems are solved. And believe me, you never want to go back to stock.
THanks for the info. Not certain that I want to go away from stock because my carrier (Verizon) may get quite cranky & not want to support me or service my phone if something goes wrong.
I have an unbranded European version of the phone on the UK Vodafone network, so I'm not sure how much help I can be. But I thought I would offer some advice based on my own experiences.
Firstly I assume the version of WM6.5 you upgraded to is the Sense 2.1 version and not Sense 2.5? I remember when I first upgraded I immediately noticed a big slowdown in comparison to the WM6.1 version which flew. If it's any help, you'll soon learn to live with the slowdown and eventually it will become "normal" and it's only when you downgrade you'll realise the difference.
In terms of speeding up the device there is not much you can do, apart from reduce the ram usage. There are a couple of cabs which significantly lower the ram usage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532948
Secondly you might want to install an app called "memmaid" or "sktools" and disable certain processes and apps from starting up. Admittedly I don't really know what most of these processes do, but I've generally found these ones are ok to disable:
certenroll
notificationmanager
htcsipsrvc
gpsprivacy
softwaredisable
htcservices
dtpt
sqmupload
btagsvc
ssw
ussd
htcap
The same goes for startup applications where I have found these are ok to disable. (ignore the apps that are not installed on your device)
poutlook
speedbmonitor
delwmptempfolder
htcstartup
pkg
spbmobileshell (I have a switcher between this and Sense interface so dont need it on startup)
memmaidtweaks
superstarter.exe
Also, I remember seeing certain apps u can download from here that strip certain branded roms of all the bloatware. As my Touch Pro 2 is not branded, I've never used one and don't have any knowledge on them. But I'm sure someone on here will gladly point you in the right direction for a Verizon one. (If it indeed exists)
You might also want to install "advancedconfig" where you can tweak certain things in your phone to speed it up a bit.
I realise you don't want to go down the custom rom route, but unfortunately it may the only way to achieve what you want. I've now customised my official WM6.5 Sense 2.1 rom to how I want it (whilst waiting for my upgrade so I can switch to something like the HTC Desire on Android) and therefore don't use a custom rom, but I've tested the vast majority of the custom roms and I'm sure you'll find something you like. In your case, I'd suggest a hybrid of WM6.1 with the Sense 2.5 interface. If you can get your head around the lack of smooth scrolling in certain apps and what-not, you'll find a nice balance of speed and a very pretty sense 2.5 interface. (I personally couldn't get my head around it haha!)
I'd very much like to use a custom rom as I quite like Sense 2.5, but there was always a problem with the text message app. Be it the very slow "HTC Messaging" or the problem with the unread count after disabling it. I haven't tried a custom rom in a few months now so I'm not sure if this has been resolved. If so, can someone please let me know as I can't keep hard resetting my phone to test.
Anywayz good luck, and I hope this helped a bit. I don't come on this site too often but I will bookmark this page and try and remember to check it so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks fade to black for your well laid out response.
I am also waiting to upgrade to the Desire next month but I am not sure I want to get rid of my Touch pro 2. I am so used to the hardware keyboard plus even though I would have had the phone for 1 year by 30 July, it looks brand new. Carrying 2 smartphones about is not an option for me. I have also just had the screen replaced under warranty after it developed newton rings. HTC returned the phone with the latest WM6.5 i.e. with Sense 2.5 and it seems very smooth. No crashes or nothing since I have had it back about a week now.
You're very lucky then as I still have a year left on my contract :-( Lol..
Yeah losing the hardware keyboard is a bit worrying, but i've not had the HTC Wizard, then the Kaiser, and then the Touch Pro 2. So to be honest I'm quite looking forward to a "thin" device for once. Hopefully will be able to get used to the onscreen keyboard.
You could always try waiting a few more months until HTC release an android device with a keyboard? Tbh it's quite surprising how they haven't already.
@Fade2Black101 Thanks for the suggestions! I have begun looking at things and immediately went for disabling the push internet because my memory is a bit tight. Well, instead of installing the CAB file I went in to manually edit the registry and found that it was not enabled in my ROM. :-(
I'm going to try some of the other stuf you suggested, but have not had time as of yet.
I probably shouldn't be, but I am shocked that Verizon released an update that brings the phone to it's knees in terms of performance.
was there a noticable difference in ram usage after editing the push setting? I remember when I tried doing it manually and it didnt have the same effect as installing the cab. So unless you noticed a big change, i'd suggest using the cab.
I don't have Verizon, but, if the rom's out there for Verizon are like the GSM ones, you can probably download the "stock" Verizon Rom, in case you need warranty service. Just flash back to the stock version before returning it.
Of course, if you phone is unbootable, then, you're pretty much screwed

THanks for the info. Not certain that I want to go away from stock because my carrier (Verizon) may get quite cranky & not want to support me or service my phone if something goes wrong.

I checked the registry and the settings weren't even there except for one and it was set to disabled. Also when I check the task manager under processes, opera isn't there. So I'm pretty sure that push internet is not running on my phone.

Turn the S4 into an Oppo Find 7

I wanted to let everyone know for the past day or so ive been testing out the Color OS 2.0 for the I9505, here are some of those results, screenshots, and how to install for yourself.
So, the reason im bringing this up to get started is that for the past year or so i was unable to install this rom on my S4 i assume from not having the correct version of TWRP required for the install (AND the install will fail a few times for random reasons if SU is not installed (rom or not)...I found this out after a full wipe and it not letting me install the rom until i rebooted back into TWRP and told it to root my phone because it found no root access.
So the initial install went like this
Wipe...
Install...
fail halfway...
wipe...
install...
fail haflway...
reboot to recovery from recovery...
tell twrp to root....back in recovery....
wipe...
install...
success...
Now the rom does include its own gapps package so there isnt a need for that, It also includes its own kernel that because of how heavily modified Color OS is from stock cannot be changed (unless you can find one that will work, the AOSP Ktoonz kernel didnt work and that was the only test i really attempted as i had to re-install the rom (wouldn't boot)
So, once the rom is installed it asks you to pick a language and looks a lot like regular AOSP (dark) but as soon as you do it prompts for wifi and settings FC's, then you move on to accounts and accounts FC's
So to get through this just skip ALL setup processes and type in your name with the built in keyboard (it has to be changed back to full qwerty or your gonna come up wth some weird things)
Then you can go into settings and apply your accounts and things like that to get your contacts and everything back per the usual.
Now onto my impressions of the rom so far...
This is the fastest rom i have ever put on my phone and yes it does come at a cost but from what i could see it is the most overall fluid rom especially when it comes to animations.
It has a lot of cool features i am still learning to use (gesture panel pull up from bottom, lets you draw a shape to preform action and set your own custom...looks cool as hell) and none of them even when enabled slow the device down.
The cost however is battery life...you WANT to have an extra battery or a fast charger on hand because this thing loves to suck power. Im alright with it currently with how fast the thing moves i am going to use it as my daily driver but i went from 50 to 2 in about an hour and a half with screen on. Screen on time isnt that awesome on this phone but standby seems to be pretty good.
Its a nice break from AOSP and Touchwiz, thats all that needs to be said really. Its much faster than either AOSP or Touchwiz even with custom kernels you can take that from me being a crack flasher, ive gone through every kernel made for the device, learnt about them, customized them, and then moved on to test another kernel.
This rom has ceased development but will currently be remaining my daily driver until i can find something else unique, i would say give it a shot guys and see how much you like it
For my install i needed TWRP 2.7.1.0
It will fail, do some troubleshooting to find out why (such as change to RM -rf formatting in settings in twrp) and after you wipe reboot to recovery and let TWRP do the root thing even though there is no rom (i dont know why this mattered at all -_-;;;; but it did) do another wipe when you get it and you should be able to install the rom and it will boot. (THERE ARE NO SIGNAL BARS TO INDICATE SIGNAL STRENGTH when you get in) and once you are finally in make sure you run to your APN settings under Mobile network and then go down to the T-mobile LTE APN and modify it, remove the password and the server info thats in there (for some reason) and change the APN protocol to IPv4/IPV6 and the roaming protocol and then save it so you have good data speeds and such (just to make it set up the same as a standard T-mobile rom)
in this rom ive noticed you CANNOT have wifi on and send MMS so to send pictures ensure you are off of wifi.
There is also a problem being noted in the comments on the rom page with Whatsapp...i dont use it >.> i know what it is but whatever it doesnt bug me at all.
Alright SO TO CLEARLY LIST THE STEPS
1. Wipe phone
2. Attempt to install rom
3. (IF FAILS on install) wipe phone
4. (IF FAILS on install) reboot from recovery to recovery
5. (IF FAILS on install) tell it to root
6. repeat steps 1 and 2.
7. when successful, boot into rom
8. select english and FC your way to the end of setup
9. enter your name or a random name into phone owner
10. setup your account in settings (or just open play store and it will prompt you)
11. Match your APN to T-mobiles standard (Settings>mobilenetworks>APn> T-mobile Us LTe)
--------Remove Password, Server, Change APN protocol to IPv4/IPv6, same with roaming, save and use that apn-------------------
You will not be able to send MMS with WIFI on. (you can if its off)
You WILL have to change keyboards (the one that comes with the rom is absolute ****, use enter to keep what you type english...)
There is a FIX for Whatsapp inside of the roms official forums ( i dont use it though )
ALSO unsure if USB file transfer is working right >.> sure there is a fix for that but it doesnt but me either. (i use wifi file transfer anyways >.>)
YOU CANNOT INSTALL A CUSTOM KERNEL (unless your willing to find one that works)
So far i havnt found any problems for my use, this is one of, if not the, fastest and smoothest roms ive ever used so i am attempting to show others the awesome

Just for those of you who didnt know this was out there, or were like me and gave up trying to install it at first.
SCREENSHOTS (CLICK FOR FULL RESOLUTION) (TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM PHONE) (VIA OPPO 3 FINGER SWIPE UP (customizable to change to anything i believe))
Now to get dual tap to wake download an app called Knokr <- from the playstore (its part of the Oppo screen so this is the only way to emulate)

Yeah I really like it once its got a new keyboard. Havnt had a force close or random reboot. The thing is so much smoother than any other rom ive tried its crazy. And after about a day the battery drain has gone away. I honestly am thunkibg about keepimg the thing if it keeps going this well as a perm backup.
The onky issues ive seen i listed in the OP but they arent problems for me really
Looks interesting. Props on the info, I'll look into this soon

All Functional
IT seems everything i use the phone for is functional on this rom. I have seen no issues at all with everything that i regularly do and with some added functionality from the android general section (acid audio (i prefer it >.>)) I dont see any reason to change off the rom o.o it has some of the best touch response i have seen on a rom (less lag on inital jerk from finger than touchwiz/aosp) the only thing its missing is the over the top customizations some roms have that will be kinda stock in android L o.o so i think im going to wait for either an L rom or color os 2.5 > 3
>.> <.<
unless another rom peaks my interest before then but im so tired of AOSP and Touchwiz xD and that seems to be the majority of this forum o.o like ive googled a lot of other roms... >.> MIUI and XUI both exist for this phone as does Color OS and many hybrid Touchwiz/AOSP roms exist over in international, as well as many roms that just never make it to our forum because they are being undercut by the popular roms for our device and immediately jump to the end of the forum..some of which are more stable than some of our most popular roms >.<
Sorry i ranted, just overal kind of curious what the Samsung user Obsession is with Touchwiz and AOSP when better than both exist for the devices we use >.> i mean i get liking the style of a rom but im not used to entering a forum here where other roms dont exist o.o i wonder what roms the nexus devices get.
Ooh! This looks fascinating! Im pretty new here but ive lurked forever and I have been looking for a new rom to try. It looks like we value the same things in a rom and the bugs wont be a problem for me either (almost never ever turn on wifi for instance) so im excited to try a rom that youve decided will be your DD.
Ill let ya know how it worked.
Oh man. This ROM is cool...
My phone played nice with it upon install for whatever reason. On my first wipe it took. Most of the setup crashed like you said, for some reason the google log in part didn't crash. After changing the APN settings everything seems to be working great. It really is fast and responsive ( there is a scroll slide effect kinda like iOS that makes lists feel slick)
My small qualm is that it shows that you have no service at all times. Even the weather app says "no service" in it so having that on the home screen and in the status bar is bothersome.
My large qualm is battery. This ROM is freaking gorgeous, I seriously want a phone beefy enough to run like this for a long time, I can't stress how pretty this is for anyone who hasn't tried Oppo's stuff. But I'm getting roughly what OP did on battery though, it feels like only a bit over 1/3 the longetivity of most other Roms I've tried... Reminds me of my old iPhone 4 after 3 years of use. So that really bites. But hell if it isn't pretty.
Another user said the battery problems go away after the ROM settles so imma give that a bit and if it does... I couldn't possibly change it. The weather effects on the home screen are addicting and I love how the rain/snow will fall on icons and splash or accumulate. It feels like a ROM in step with the future.

Oh shoot I forgot to mention, sorry to spam this thread! Some apps return "package file invalid" and you flat out can't install those apps. This was fixed for me by wiping the caches in recovery but I've read this doesn't always work. In the end I personally got every app I wanted installed so idk if that will be a problem but yeah.
My issues with battery life so far have greatly dimmed, I am unsure if it was just the rom getting used to itself or the kernel setting itself up...but my battery issues have gone down greatly.
THOUGH I will mention that it is still worse than AOSP and Touchwiz, just not by nearly as much as previously thought. (EDIT: THE BATTERY LIFE, I actually don't think ill give this rom up
Also I did also have the problem with "Package File Invalid" and I also wiped the caches to get everything to install properly, but I also found that a full storage wipe of the phone (copy everything important off first) prevents that issue with most roms, I may try it with this one if I decide to ever uninstall it in the first place. The rom is kind of amazing...
Normally I would be experiencing some kind of stability issue with an app or something by now or maybe a keyboard...but not with this rom, not at all. It is still running as amazing as when I first turned it on.
OH I have to mention I guess that I did turn on some power saving settings so that may have been what effected the battery life so dramatically. In honesty I think now it lasts me quite a while...I may actually think I get better battery life in the last 15-20% than AOSP or Touchwiz, touchwiz being the only one with a decent power saver setting (with ROM)
but yeah I love this rom and wish there were more like it for our device....I know miui is available and I might look back into it for more of a full themeing effect, but I love the gesture panel and im gonna try to port it over to the miui rom >.> and see if it will load. Seems to be an app that's built into the phone but im unsure how deep rooted it is.
MIUI+ColorOS = Amazing combo.
Thanks though guys for looking into this! glad to see some other crack flashers around.
This rom does seem to be taking kind of a large leap, but at least its forward.

Honestly the battery did get better after a couple days. Aosp has probably spoiled me. I really really liked this ROM.
Edit: and I know what you mean by "forward thinking" this ROM feels like the future.
And yes, definitely a crack flasher here. Even now that I have a ROM that I always fall back on I'm still flashing at least a few times a week, and trying new Roms on weekends. >.<
Will try this soon
this is a really nice rom for the s4 , i didn't have to reflash at all, one wipe flashed the rom, it was succesful and booted right up on the first try. Thanks for this, i tried the newest 9/6 debloated version from the link in the OP but it seemed to be a lil glitchy, the one in OP works fine. Thanks again
