Hi All,
Has anyone tried to get access to the 2 free movie rentals that are described here http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/whats-hot/
You have to text DESIRE to 3030 and they send you a link back, submit your phone number and then receive a 4 digit code. Put that into the box and voila, you should have access to the films.....but alas NO.
When i put the 4 digit code into the box, it tells me that this promotion is only open to purchasers of the HTC Desire!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else had any joy?
Regards
DF
Just tried and no luck. Call them and see what they say.

Just got off the phone to T-Mobile. They tell me that it is an IMEI issue, and they have raised an investigation.
They are going to call me once they have a solution.

I've just tried this. It worked but it's rubbish!
The list of movies I can choose from is:
The Hangover
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Driving Aphrodite
Lethal Weapon
Interview with the Vampire
Matrix Revolutions
Superman 2.
It's a shame yu cant download onto the phone, you just have 48 hours to watch them only. Now if i'm on the train, watching them over stream would be a nitemare as signal would go a lot.
Nice gesture, but other ways to watch movies on phone.

Just wondering if any others are using this neat little app and what your experiences are with it?
I tested it on a roadtrip by leaving my trinity in my friends car with the screen off. Every few minutes I would send an sms to my trinity and it would reply with my friends coordinates. I would then input his coordinates into my PNA to see where he was. Worked great. I was most impressed by the battery life remaining on my phone when I got it back...after 18 hours and 120 or so text messages I still had 80% battery remaining.
Anyone else use it? What are your thoughts?

Hi, this is a pretty smart bit of "FREE" kit. I use for cycling / walking if every i get knocked off or lost Help knows where I am instantly!
***** star all round
Do you need to activate the built-in GPS through it, or would VitoFindMe start it by itself?
I'm asking because this could be a nice way to keep an eye on the kids, or if my trinity gets stolen.
Thanks for the tip anyway.

It runs on the today screen and always runs as long as it's on the today screen. You can also specify gps settings manually or have it detect. The only catch is you have to activate the product or you will have to soft reset after sending coordinates 3 times. Activation is free btw.

You only need to configure the keyword, when you send an sms with that keyword vito will reply with the current location as soon as it gets a gps fix:
" Go to http://maps.google.com and input "38.7093 -9.14376" into search box "
You may want to disable the sent message notification, and hide the vito plugin on a pocket breeze tab so that it isn't clearly visible that the device is running it, otherwise whoever finds the device will immediately read the scrolling message on the today screen: "Attention, VITO FindMe is installed! This phone can be located via SMS"
Thank you for your imputs. Can't the scrolling message just be hidden at the Today Screen by unselecting "Find Me" at the Today Items settings (settings>today>items), like I did, or if it gets hidden it won't work?

does anyone else get positioning errors with FindMe? Othe rapps are spot on but FindMe is often 50 - 100m out
Locate SMS
Here is the link for Eten "LocateSMS"
Maybe you can try this www.mtsfriends.ro
Isn't Eten "LocateSMS" just to send your position where FindMe automatically responds with your position when it receives an SMS from someone with the correct code in the body of the message?
Anyone knows how can I transfer my ndrive map from my old phone to my current one? Tried emailing ndrive many times but not a single response from them, not even an automated one.
Many thanks.
1st let me make this clear: I have not done this myself!!!
Having said that and if your previous phone was an android phone, then installing the application on your new phone and overwriting the Ndrive folder in your internal sd card with the same folder from your old phone should do the trick.
If your previous phone was not an android phone then I can't think of a way to do it other than contacting Ndrive support.
Hope I've helped
No way I can do this as my old phone was bricked. Already sent in to Samsung to change the motherboard.
NDrive just replied me via Twitter (out of desperation I tweeted them) that there is NO WAY to transfer as their maps are tied to IMEI. What this also means is that your map can only be used on ONE phone. Once you change phone, that's it. You pay to buy the same map again. I am totally pissed now!!! What kinda of stupid licence is this.

Well, they didn´t tell the truth. They can easily change the license to another imei! At least here in Portugal. They want a copy of your serial number and a copy of a bill that you bought the license with your name to get identified. This works at least for the same category of Operating Systems. But i can´t tell if they can do this for changing the OS...
It's the same os for me. Heck it's even the same phone (i bought another galaxy s after the first one bricked). But ndrive support sucks and I cannot get any response from them via email. You know of any email that they will respond to?

Yeah, i know this Costumers Support... The usually take up to 2 weeks to respond. Don´t know if the have nobody there or to much to respond or whatever...
I´ll send you a PM
I confirm that "support service" of NDrive suck.
Sent an email to "support @ ndrive.com and no reply for two days ...
then to "ndrive @ ndrive.com" ... still no replies ... then to the regional contact ... got a mail undelivery "this person / email doesn't exist" !!
Finally, out of desesperation, I forwarded my email straight to Chief Marketing officer AND the CEO !!!
A day after, got an answer from "support @ " ... saying :
...
Please provide us your IMEI device number , we will transfer the Ndrive software and it will be available on your equipment as soon we have the information requested.
...
It tooks a week to come to this. A bit disappointing ...
My Story
I recently switched from the Incredible to the Droid 2 global to give it a try. Don't worry I got it for free thanks to the deal that Verizon is running about buy one get one of the same. *Upgraded a family member so I took the free one as I thought what the hell*
Now I've played around with this phone for 1 and 1/2 days so far and I'm not liking the battery life. I rather not return the phone as it was free and so I was thinking if I could just keep it as a backup that would be great.
Now my question is can I switch between the phones without going into the store? I want to activate my incredible again for a while since it got better battery life. *and before you ask, yes I've spent at least the last 15 hours using it like I did my other phone but still the battery was drained faster*
Now I have done a google search already about this topic and found this so far.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5046976_switch-phones-easily-verizon-wireless.html
Has anyone here done this before? I'm not looking to change anything about my services other than the phone. Both phones are smart phones and thus I don't see a problem but I figured I would ask the all mighty people here.
I just call verizon and they do it for me.
Its very simple just call them up and they ask for the codes off the new phone and your set. I believe you can do it right off the website as well.
Eh well I have 1 problem with calling them. I only have my cell as my phone. So I can't call them on the phone that will be deactivated. I'm looking at this as saving me time from having to deal with going to the store or from having to call them.
I'm just worried that since I'm on a contract that I would be locked to this specific phone unless I upgrade again.
Bump
Anyone else done this before?
There's a couple of approaches (or maybe many more I haven't thought of):
1) Do you have a computer (not a phone)? If so, can you just use Skype or some such thing to call them at their 800 number or whatever it is? Then you can shut off the phone.
2) I have an old droid 1 and a dinc. I switch between them by shutting off the dinc, and turning on the droid, typing *228 and that's that. Reversing the process works as well. No one asks for the MEIN/ID, but once I had a small contract screwup where I had a replacement phone I'd forgotten about, and I was asked for the MEIN (is that the right acronym?) , and had to yank the back off to find it and give it to them. It is also in 'about phone' but the phone has to be on.
---
So none of that may be useful to you unless you have access to a computer and skype (or an equivalent).
Good luck -
So you say you can just turn off one phone and *228 on your deactivated phone and that will automatically switch which phone is active at the time?
Yes, I can do that as long as the original paperwork on each phone really matches what they have in their computers.
For example, I mentioned that one phone was broken and replaced early on, and I had to call them to change to that one, but once I'd done that call, I could just use the *228 to change.
It sure doesn't hurt to try it.

Ah cool well both phones match the paper work on my account as I own both and they had both been activated before on my account so I will give it a try and see what happens. If this works then I will be very happy as I can just switch back and forth all I want.
Just tried that and it didn't work. As soon as I tried it asked me to enter the phone number that I was trying to activate.
I think this does have to be done via the website first. I would love to hear some someone that has tried the instructions that I linked above.
I do this on a monthly basis. When u dial *228 from the phone u want to use press 1 for program. When prompted enter phone number with area code that u want on that phone. If your act has a password u may be prompted to enter that or the last 4 digits of the act holders social security number. When it goes through, may take up to 10 min u will get programming complete. Dial *228 again then select 2 to unlock prl and update roaming. Pm me if u need further help. Peace.

Have you guys used Dell Voice? Being a Canadian, Google voices limitations have left a lot to be desired, but I came across the app Dell Voice and have been using it for several days with much success. The best part... You get a free Canadian number . This alone puts it ahead of Skype.
I'm not getting voicemail notifications through it, however, but I think that's just a bug they need to fix. Audio on wifi is top notch. Haven't tried it on my regular data plan.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fongo.dellvoice
I've noticed a lot of negative reviews, and not experiencing the problems being reported. Battery use via wake locks is less than 0.5% according to betterbatterystats .

In Canada for free. Worldwide on paid credits... Never tried worldwide calling.
I've used this companies service before - for years, but they never had a mobile service... It use to be through PC software.

i see to the free calling cities, thats awesome tho, i call home to victoria from vancouver all the time.. this is wicked!
Yes I signed up for the service as well and am happy with the call quality and options. With the number option you can forward your calls to the number of dellvoice and get service without changing your number, where its difficult to get signals. would recommend this.
Just installed and tested a couple long distance calls.... Good call quality! A keeper for sure
Dell Voice kicks ass. I am going to call my provider (rogers) and drop my voice to the lowest plan the have 40min for $13 and cancel caller id and keep my 6 gig of data. Then I can use this for all of my calling. No more long distance calls and the best part is the call quality is actually good. better then I ever got through Skype. And receiving calls to your own assigned number. Only thing it is missing is SMS which they claim is in the workings and will be added in the future.
I heard about it earlier but installed today
Its working great but I am using Wifi connection at the moment
will test with 3G mobile network..
good stuff, thank you
with 6gb plan + call forwarding i can reduce my voice plan
Has anyone got this working with their bluetooth headset? It's not working at all with the blueant z9.

Hey guys, got my account set up, but can someone please upload the apk?
does the voicemail work for other? on the website I get an error message whenever I got to the voicemall tab
this is awesome, thank you OP for letting us know!
Works nicely and quality is nice
Im with Virgin mobile, tried calling 3 numbers, all worked, 1 didnt, for some reason, not sure why, all local numbers. Still, love it!
I'm loving the Dell VOIP service. Since I cancelled Call Display & Voice Mail with Rogers, I now forward incoming calls to my rogers# to the Dell#, free call display and voice mail. It amazes me that Rogers gets away with charging $10+/m for it.
apk please. shows incompatible with my device on android market.
Pretty cool service considering Google Voice is technically not available to Canadians.
Anyone knows more about their future plans? Bait and switch from free to paid services? Turn off service if not well received within the next few months? etc.
I like the Dell voice.....
APK Please
Yes, This is a great App. I used it for years on computer.
Can anyone upload the Apk?
Thanks a lot.
I got my Pixel 3 XL today - UK release day - and I am sure like many other was disappointed to see call screening restricted to the US.
It doesn’t make any sense as we speak the same language and I am prepared to change the settings to get it to work.
So I changed the language to US, I changed my Google account location - but nothing still no call screening option.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It's a server side feature, has nothing to do with settings. From what I have read- it will be coming to the UK eventually.
So one of the main features I bought the phone for is restricted to the US which they didn't even make clear to us. nice.
I wonder if there are some GDPR issues. Google is monitoring the call, transmitting it to this servers...it warns you the call is being recorded.
Still, they should have been clear on availability.
Nothing is transmitted to their servers, it's all done locally on the device. I imagine the feature will roll out to us in an update, like the night mode on the camera.
Very disappointed to see both features not present in the UK from day one, considering they're two main selling points of the phone. Pisser.

They made it perfectly clear, announced at the keynote: https://youtu.be/EsoQGTA1SxY
Posted on their blog on 10/9:
First, starting out in English in the U.S., Pixel 3’s on-device AI helps you screen phone calls and avoid spam calls. Imagine you’re at dinner with family or in a meeting at work and a call from an unknown caller comes in.

Welp, I must be both death and blind. Apologies for my idiocy there. Thanks.
It is an on phone feature so surely there must be a string or something like with night sight to enable it... maybe someone can make a modded phone app?
I really want to use this rather than wait an inderterminate period of time for it to be released in the UK.
Interestingly I put a Project Fi SIM in my Pixel 3XL and the call screen option appeared but then when I want to try it it was gone... even with a Fi SIM and a US phone number....
Someone in Reddit claims to have activated it in India (on a rooted 2xl)...
So hopefully only a matter of time. (I'm waiting for it in Aus)

I was also really disappointed as they had never mentioned this in their marketing messages. Then I found this https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/whatistps.html
Apparently, this is a legitimate solution for filtering nuisance calls.
No point in waiting until Google make this available in the UK.

I'm in the U.S. but I got it working on my P2XL, including transcripts about a month ago using this mod , but this requires root. Then I bought a P3XL and was irritated that transcripts hadn't rolled out officially even though I had been using them on the P2XL for quite a while. So I opened up the .xml file in the P3XL and the same flags were there. I only changed 2 flags to true and boom, transcripts were working. This is very easy to do and easily reversible (especially when you save a copy of the original xml file). When reading the mod OP, note there are locale based flags to avoid the U.S. location check and I think it's worth a shot if you are rooted. Give it a go and report back if it is working for you. Here are the strings I am referring to:
Code:
<boolean name="__data_rollout__SpeakEasy.OverrideUSLocaleCheckRollout__launched__" value="false" />
<boolean name="G__speak_easy_bypass_locale_check" value="false" />
Follow the below post and it works irrespective of where you are. (It needs root though)

And you believe them? Google cannot be trusted. I assumed everyone knew this by now.
Call screening is an awful feature and if you use it to filter spam or robocalls in the UK you will end up getting even more as answering a robo call will simply tell the spammers that you are active and they will bombard you.

Wow. CS is the best thing ever, and I very much enjoy using it. It works very well on non-spam calls as well when you just cannot take the call or it's a reminder from your doctor, pharmacy, etc. Google already screens out the majority of spam calls (they are marked spam) and makes it easy to block these and any other repeat callers. Yeah, it's still whack a mole but now you don't even need to pick up the phone. As for the UK users, you can try the mod if rooted. Otherwise know it will be there "soon".
