Have searched, but am fairly sure this specific one isn't covered:
Using |R|6.5.5|ROM|WWE| ★ Energy Series 23547/21895 |Mar 17| ★ Sense 2.5 ★
Go to "People" on the sliding bar, click "all people", then create a new contact to the SIM using the hw keyboard. Now, once added, go to create another contact to the SIM and this time when you press a key on the keyboard, the display will not accept the key input and will "scroll" slightly up (2 or 3 mm). So it gets rid of the on-screen QWERTY input (which always pops up when you tap into which box you want to type in), but doesn't accept the keyboard input.
Soft reset doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
this is a rom specific question and should be posted in the thread of that rom.
Since the chefs get leaked roms and touchflo builds, there are some bugs that have yet to be ironed out.
also just tried on my device (running an the 3/5 NRG rom build 21XXX ) and everything works fine.
Much appreciated, since it's working on yours, will reflash first and see.
Thanks,
Raj

I install a third party Soft Input Panel (SIP) called "The Phraze-It."
the problem is when i choose to fire up the input, it does not fire up. it remains with the idiot default keyboard.
anything i can do in the registry? i try to use SIPChange but still not working.
Please help me!!
I encountered the same problem on ppc-6700 WM5. Their support say I need to hard-reset.
Could be a problem of Black ROM... Try LVSW ROM, works here...
Could be Black or could be a memory problem. I had an issue with Calligrapher that resolved after removing the HTC Home plugin.
I tried SIPChange to set a new keyboards (HappyTappingKeyboard and TenGO Thumb), but it didn't seem to work. Eventually, I found IMselector/IMselecter (the filename was spelled one of the ways). It is somewhere on the board, I'll go look for a link for you. I used that to set the new keyboard as the default keyboard, then softreset. The new keyboard worked perfectly.
the cause of this is the custom skin of the original keyboard. there is .mui file which u will have to overwrite but i dont know exactly to get it back to original.
at10ti0n,
can you elaborate further step by step on the .mui?
Anyone,
what is the link to download the IMselector? please! i still can resolve the problem
Here's IMSelecter. Install this to Device, not Storage Card.
After you've installed your 3rd party SIP, use IMSelecter to choose that SIP as default (there should be a drop down list, and in your case, just Phraze-It). Then, tap the power button to suspend and thus keeping the change (just to be safe), and then soft reset. Your SIP should work.
(this whole process was used on WM5, try it out, if it doesn't work, PM me.)
I installed IMSelector on my HTC Touch running stock HTC WM6 ROM. It correctly sets PCM Keyboard as my default SIP. However, the SIP icon now shows virtually all the time in the lower area (between the soft keys) every time I start a new app or go to the Programs window - regardless of whether or not there is an input box on the visible page. The default device behavior is to only show the SIP icon when the visible window contains some form of input control - i.e. text box, combo box, etc. Now, I get the icon on evrery new screen.
Any ideas on how to get the default behavior back?
Thanks,
-Scott
I do not succeed in running PocketCM keyboard on B&B 4.0. I can install it successfully, but when I select the keyboard to use it, it always switches to the default keyboard.
Does anyone else have this issue?
You need to do a softreset after installing the .cab! That worked for me.
I don't know if you saw this, but on the site where you downloaded the PocketCM Keyboard there is also a forum where you can download dict. files in several languages (like Dutch, German,...)

i just installed it (v0.5) and immediatly after i made a soft reset. but i have the exact same problem you described. when i select it, it switches to standard keyboard instead. also, i cant open its option dialogue because PCMKeyboard has to be SIP to open that dialogue.
are you trying to set the PocketCM Keyboard via Setting\Input??
What you could try, is to change the keyboard from any screen where you see the keyboard icon down in the middle of your screen.
I am working with the 0.4 version and it works very good and quick.

i tried both with no success. i guess i will look for a v0.4 and try that one.
[edit: ok, v0.4 doesnt work.
what i found is this: http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?11,801
this is not the best solution, but hey, it works even with v0.5]
I used SIPChange attached, selected PocketCM as default and soft reset. Works like a charm since then (4 days). Just to let you know.
I agree with Doume. It worked for me, too, with sipchange.
NEWS V.5 POcketcmkeyboard
http://pocketcm.com/keyboard.php
I tried with SIPchange, that didn't work.
This tip from the pocketcm forum worked for me:
Make a soft reset. Try to enter an app where there is no possibility to tape (for example Settings) and try to select this keyboard. And after that you can use it in necessary apps. For me it works.

great keyboard by the way!
It seems that this is a bug of BB 4.0, because I have this problem with PocketCM Keyboard AND Phone Pad (HTC). But Phone Pad works always for a few days and then i have to soft reset. PocketCM Keyboard works never.
That would be so great if Pocket CM v.10 and Pocket Keyboard v.5 would be integrated in rom 4.1. Just a suggestion.....
PocketCM Keyboard will work in B&B 4.1
Try this one, uninstall pocketCM Keyboard and soft reset.
Install IM default selector from CAB, now softreset another time,
Install PocketCM Keyboard 0.5, start-programs-imselector, and choose PocketCM, start-settings-input-PockectCM again.
Soft reset, and voila.
This method worked for me
I installed pocketCM Keyboard. Changed the SIP under settings. Soft reset my phone (using HTC P3300, WM5.0)
Opended program like ' Notes ' . Before start to write anything I've changed the SIP to the new installed app (with the keyboard icon on the bottom).
Changing SIP this way solved my problem of the self-changing SIP.
I hope this is of some help.
cheers

i just reflashed to B&B4.1 lite and installed the newest pcm (v0.13 beta) and pcm keyboard (v0.8). both work like a charm.
Can we "downgrade" to the WM5 on-screen keyboard layout? I dont like skins that waste room, I just want the good old fashion WM5 version I have used over the last 2 years back!
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan
*bump* thanks for any input....
Have I stumped this board?
The base Keyboard dll are pretty much the same in WM5 and WM6. If you don't like the skin used on your WM6, you can always cook a new rom from it and replace the keyboard related files - well that's basically the idea but on how to cook and what to replace a bit of research will have to be done of course
one can also just install the skin one wants and use that no building a full rom is required
Try this package, it includes the original white with black letters and alot of others. It should work with your cooked WM6 rom

I figured this out a while ago and forgot about this topic. I am replying to help any searches people may have.
Solved.
To change the keyboard layouts:
While in notes/messaging/email/etc (where you can write) press the arrow to the right of the keyboard. This will open up the menu.
Be sure thet "keyboard" has the dot to the right of it.
Choose "options"
On the first "Input Method" tab, simply choose "small keys".
This will add the numbers on the top row as well as a few other keys that are missing with the "large keys" option.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers,
Hello Hero-Chefs,
on MCR 2.1 and on stock 1.x Hero Rom it is not possible to use the trackball to select text for text copy function (affirmed on two devices).
How to test:
-Open Browser
-Menu->More->Copy text
-mouse pointer is shown and above any text press the trackball
-move trackball -> nothing happens.
The text should be highlighted while you move the trackball and sould be copied when you press the trackball again and Hero should say "Text copied to clibboard".
It works on the Hero device only by moving the finger on the touchscreen. It is supposed to work with trackball as well (as it is on any Hero-Rom on G1, there it WORKS!, any cupcake G1-Rom works as well)
Is it a kernel issue, as far as the Hero files itself in the G1-ported Hero-Roms are not tweaked for G1, as far as I know.
Hard to believe that this "old" cupcake feature on G1 should not work fine on the Hero-devices.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
i tired it in the other thread for you and TBH its a pain in the a%% compared to using your finger................ooeeer missus
the trackball su*ks.. i mean, iphone does not have something like a trackball and its intuitive to use also.. whatever ;-)
Agree that it would be useful. Think its an inherent hero trackball issue though. In the game "breaktheblocks" you are supposed to be able to set the ball off using the trackball but this doesn't work either. Reckon this is related, ie the hero handles the trackball button differently to the g1.
Interesting i suppose it is a kernel fixable issue. Wonder if htc has sth like an open bugtracker greetings
we need a patch for this...it's a prior bug, i think!
yes, i can copy text with the finger (zooming a lot) but it's difficult to get it at first try
i've try the same function on a htc magic (where the cursor selection works) and it's perfect to do this job:
chose select text -> move on the start -> click -> adjust on the end -> click
it's needful for the page where you can't zoom (gmail and other mobile optimized site)
...a question: does this happen also on orginal rom or only on modded?
I got a modaco rom, if the original is ok i'm going to restore soon!
It also happens on mine with the original rom.
so we hope that htc read this forum...
I recently upgraded from a T-Mobile Wing to the T-Mobile TP2, and for the most part I am really appreciating the improvements in hardware and software.
One thing that is bugging me, though, is that when texting or writing an email on my Wing I would be offered a list of possible words after typing the first few characters. I could select one with the arrow keys, and then press space to accept. This made typing out messages much faster. Also, it would auto-correct certain words - like changing "i' to "I", or "adn" to "and".
I can't seem to find a place to turn these features on in my TP2.
It originally came with WM 6.1, but I have since upgraded with the official WM 6.5.
Any ideas?
Edit:
I should also mention that I am talking about using the hardware keyboard. I am aware that you can bring up the on-screen keyboard, select XT9, and close the on-screen keyboard - and then you will have word completion functionality, but the setting does not seem to be persistent.
Thanks!
It should work, just open up the keyboard in landscape mode and click the same XT9 key. If not go search for a registry change to have it default to that setting.

My point was kind of that I don't want to open the on-screen keyboard and select XT9. It becomes pretty unwieldy to add those steps every time I slide out the keyboard.
I was hoping that someone could point me to an option setting that I hadn't stumbled across.
It seems an odd bit of functionality to have been removed from the OS, so I was hoping that it was there, but not enabled - make sense?
Thanks for the tip, though

On my phone it was saving XT9 as the default for messages, even after a soft reset. I'm running Mighty Mike's 6.5 sense 2.1. Here is a possible solution (post 7):

Thanks,
My phone is not saving XT9 as a default at all. As soon as I open a new message it is back to ABC mode. I checked the setting in the link that you shared, but mine was already turned on. Seems to make no difference to the hardware keyboard.
Thanks again
