I'm just about to make the transition from my Dash to my new phone soon. Just wanted to take a minute as a break from SIM unlocking, keyboard layouts, and $5.99 hack questions to say "thanks" to all the guys in the Excalibur forum who helped make my Dash the best smartphone I've ever had.
Through the ROMs, scripts, tips, and tricks offered here, I had a smooth ride with my Dash. Thanks to everyone who worked on the phone and offered mutual help to regulars as well as relatively patient help to newbies. Great group here overall!
Thanks man for writing that,
Also, what phone are you going to move to?
TAKE ME WITH YOU FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

He is moving on to the G1 forum and as well as i will be.
Your welcome Beartard
Although, i will be seeing you there soon
Oh nice since you guys are moving there, is it possible for me to become moderator here in the excalibur forum.
yeah a big thanks to everyone. graduated from the first day t-mobile came out with the dash with windows 5, to 6 to 6.1 courtesy of everyone here. be moving over to the G1 on the 22nd.
thanks again for everyones hard work!
Haha dang so many people are moving to the G1
my Excal has served me well for quite a while. Longer than any other phone has. In fact, I will probably keep it with me during the first few months, as I am sure there will be problems with the G1 of some sort or another. I am in agreement with the others, thank you ALL for everything you do to keep these Excal's going

Maybe ya'll should just change the name of this forum so you don't all have to leave. Sounds like almost everyone here has ordered, or is going to order, the g1. This place will be dead if all of you leave that have said you are. So when's the funeral? two weeks? Who's gonna be staying? I think Stylez is about the only one. Maybe we should pitch in and get him a new phone as well.
If NRG would have built the new rom I would have stayed
J/K, If the new one comes I will definitely be back for some rom love

Wait, what is this exactly?
Dude, where the hell have you been? There has always been a working froyo since day one. You are totally ignorant to figure that out just now..
Thanks for the kind words. I Know 2.2 has been here for awhile, but I have never been able to get it running properly till now.
A little harsh Hello? Also your breaking the ToS or whatever they call here with that tone... I would edit your post if I was you. Why your editing, why not reduce your silly signature size at the same time.

For sure but then you know what happens when you feed a troll.
Your comment doesn't even fit in the context of the first post, so what's your point? Your lack of caring in no way outweighs our lack of caring, so I guess we are at an impasse. Conclusion, these are the very same files you will find on the latest linux kernel zImages and modules website

btw jz3 you just edited your first post so I guess you finally realized they are more builds out there and not just one.

What is this exactly? Where did you get this system build from? It looks like stinebd's stock build, which i label as "reference" since its untouched.

I will take the high road here since I did appreciate Reef's dedication to this project. Thanks Serren & lordstrife for my back. This is my last post on these forums walking away disgusted.

Good. We are all disgusted when people steal things and try to claim them as their own.
Maybe if you said where it came from, how you put it together, or highlighted HOW it's different from other builds that are already posted, we would be MUCH more receptive... But from your first post, it just looks like you stole it and tried to pass it off as something you built. That is just shameful, and will NOT be tolerated on this forum.
I didnt see any claim of ownership, unless the post was edited.
A history of the files and such of course would be helpful. And credit given to those who actually created the files is a no-brainer.
But still, I know XDA is the "big leagues", but cant we be a bit nicer? For all we know, this guy could be the next big thing. Just saying...
he edited his first post saying that he has a working froyo he never said it was his but it looked like it since he hasn't given any credit to whomever that build belongs to
in the OP he said it was not reef's build. He's not taking credit, but he's not giving it either, which is probably what bothered most of the people in this thread.
Only the guilty run like cowards IMO.
Roast him !!!
I lost count on how many problems I see people have on here and in the description of what happened, they were using ROM Manager....
Seriously, stop using it. Flash everything in Recovery and Hboot.
To me, using ROM Manager is like updating windows, instead of doing a fresh install whenever a new version comes out. It just causes problems...
OK, ready for all the "I use it with no problems" posts.....
Not here, my friend. I'm in total agreement with you.... Yet, when you're new to rooting, it is only logical that you take the easiest route or what is perceived to be the easiest route because you're scared to death that you're going to muck up your expensive device. Yet, as your experience level increases, you learn what we have learned. It is far too easy to flash from within recovery or the boitloader.

Yea, he's had that for a while, and it is a good idea.
And when I used rom manager, I had no problems. Though for first time rooters / new to android, I'd recommend it as it can make the flashing process a little less intimidating. It's a like a bottle...you start with it, then get weened off it.

I use it to download the ROM and add ons but use recovery to flash because it goes much smoother.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
ive never had one problem with CM,or RM. If you have a rom that doesnt have an ext boot menu,it simplifies rebooting in to recovery, makes it easy to keep up with your back-ups,fix permissions, and gives you access to various ROMs,all in one really clean UI.
The only reason I keep it is to fix permissions after I flash a new ROM. For that, it's great.
ROM Manager won't flash my recovery image, and almost bricked my device... so yeah I don't like it.
edit:meant to quote hipcat
try typing fix_permissions in terminal emulator.
i think people use it because koush made it seem like you need it. peopl ehear about roms, but don't know what they are. searching root in the market, it's one of the first links. downloading, it makes everything seem so easy. all these roms, just sditting there, all with little one line descriptions, just a 2.99 donate and a click away. that's what people who have just rooted want to see. but i agree, it causes more problems then it solves sometimes. still a great tool.

While it is great, you also have to think of the times. I'm recently 21, engineering major, and I'm fairly tech savvy, but you also have to consider the times.
When we were in 8th grade, if you had a flip phone, that was the rage and you had tetris, you were THE man. I think its great and it spawns new opportunities.

lol, when I was in 8th grade, Atari was probably something some guy was just dreaming up.
This young generation, that's just hitting their 20's, frankly, scares me. Mass stupidity and too much of the thug influence, but looking at the generation coming up behind them, there may be hope... lol

I wanted to thank all of my fellow EVO fans for making icycell.com a success. As you know, I only bought so many doors and once they were gone, that was all we would do. I have about 4 doors left but wanted to say thanks... so..
Thanks to XDA for putting such a phenomenal site together with a great group of member.
Thanks to all the XDA members who helped with the design/testing process and had patience while I got everything in order to ship out.
Thanks to all the people that helped promote the heck out of the door for me.
Without you guys this never would have happened. Having said that, if anyone is interested in taking everything over from me, drop me a PM.. I am not looking for much money but it is time for me to move on. I am concentrating on moving my family back home to Florida and have about 7 other projects that I need to get off the ground.
Again.. huge thanks to everyone involved, you all deserve a pat on the back.

http://teamwin-recovery.blogspot.com/2011/12/developer-burn-out-and-addiction.html
He says he will fulfill his obligation to finish our recovery. The point I'd like to make is that people need to backup off developers and just let them work.
This is happening far too often.

I feel for him because I know what it's like from developing a MUCH MUCH smaller app, it gets very annoying.
At the same time though, I hate seeing these posts and how the devs let the community get them so worked up, we're all human but things like this you need to be able to deal with and know they will happen.
Hope the dev can enjoy his holidays and
He's definitely getting a donation from me when we get TWRP. No question.

I feel like the ET4G users are more grateful after reading that. I mean, that ICS thread had almost or over $2k in pledges. I'm sure he will be happy with how our community, for the most part, acts and reacts after he releases.
Anyone else know immediately that it was Agraben as soon as they saw Teamwin mentioned?
I "kinda" feel for the guy, but he's always been very much of a "loves to dish it out, but can't take it" kinda guy.
When Team Alpharev or whatever beat them out for s-off on the HTC devices, he about had a meltdown.
He went full-hostile to pretty much the world for a while (on Twitter, at least), so much that the rest of Teamwin was doing the "we don't know this guy" dance for a bit.
Either way, though, I don't wanna wish anyone bad news, so I hope he gets it all worked out, because he's very much a hell of a developer, one of the best. (And it's very right-on for him to fulfill his obligations.)
He wrote they only received $500 on the hdmi port. I thought there was a bounty for that. I don't remember the amount but I think it was larger than $500. I will try to confirm but if it is true, than another bounty that failed.

Which is why bounties need to be done away with completely. Some people seem to pledge just to see the amount get high enough that it will "light a fire" under the devs. Then, when the product is released, they don't follow through on their pledge, but use the product anyway.
I know that the other members from team win haven't been so active and we may be witnessing the end. Heck one of them posts about how much he likes his I phone

I follow Agraben on twitter, I have noticed his tweets getting more and more crazy! I think part of the problem is everyone was riled up and ready for TWRP2 when he saw the communities excitement he began to add more devices to TWRP2. Daily he would tweet about adding another device whether it was a phone or tablet, his work load was growing. I began to see TWRP2 never being released due to endless device adding, lol. Then I saw the tweet where he wanted $/donations to pay for 1/2 the new Galaxy Nexus, I dont think that panned out to well and it seems he bought the device anyway. That would be enough to tick any one of our wives off! And we all know it the wife isnt happy, neither are we, lol. If he had dropped the recoveries he had for the devices that were ready 2 months ago, things may be a bit different. People might be riled up to send some donations that way, but the endless device adding got everyone down, myself included.

Whoops, wrong thread indeed LOL.
Its a fine line that many dev's have to walk; one side of them loves to work on new devices and the challenge of getting something to work on a device can be very intoxicating..On the other hand, it takes away from your personal life, and, eventually, the moochers, leechers, and the folks who feel they are entitled to everything and anything for free just because the registered of a web forum, drives away the creative, sharing folks who make the great software that we get to play with on our phones..
Frankly, even if he got paid for all the things he has developed for smartphones, it wouldn't make a differences, because, the first jerk bait, who complains about having to wait for an update, would just set him off again..
Any dev posting stuff on XDA, has to think about how they will deal with all the obnoxious ass wipers who seem to have overrun what used to be a fun, and exciting place to interact with others; its not just XDA that has this issue now, its pretty much every "Free" web forum that offers software and programs for anyone who can figure out how to register..
Maybe a "membership fee" type site, would help keep some of the worst, most obnoxious, douchebags out??
^ indeed.

Free to read with a small fee to post in Dev forums (free for recognized devs) would work for me.
