Re-Install the base rom - eXpo GW820, GW825 IQ ROM Development

If you are looking to re-install the base rom I found out that it can't be re-installed through the flasher program the rom is within. It checks the software version on the phone and sees that it is the same as the rom you are trying to install. However, I found a solution. Since the Incite flasher doesn't check this I took the Incite flasher and placed the eXpo rom in the flasher. I changed some of the files that the flasher was pointing to to the ones that are for the eXpo and repacked the flasher. I ran the flasher and it installed to my phone. Here is the repacked flasher for the eXpo and IQ for those that want to flash the base rom.
eXpo:
http://www.mediafire.com/?bmmoidmymfj
IQ:
http://hotfile.com/dl/33211312/b9c9f5e/IQ_ROM.exe.html
The flasher is set to install under windows 7. If you are using xp changed the install path to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
If you are installing under windows 7 remember to set the flasher to xp compatibility mode and to run as an admin.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH USING VISTA. IT WILL NOT WORK AND YOUR PHONE WILL NO LONGER FUNCTION. YOU WILL NEED TO GET TO AN XP OR WIN7 COMPUTER IF YOU TRY TO FLASH UNDER VISTA.

sweet thanks dude.

btw this really blows.. cuz i have vista on my laptop
edit : still kinda curious if it's gonna work

Yeah vista is an issue with the flasher since day one of the Incite days. There have been those that were successful flashing with vista using a virtual machine running xp or win7, but it is risky and if something goes wrong your phone may no longer function.

Any chance you can provide the link again?
Thanks!

Says ROM is taken down?
I just got my LG Expo today, and I am not as happy with it as I had hoped.
I am also hesitant to install this ROM because I may return it for the Tilt2.
Dilemna's Dilemnas!.
So if i take the plunge, and flash the updated ROM, will I be able to get it back to stock and return if it just isn't working for me?
I love the snapdragon, but the HTC's have been very kind to me, and he new dual booting into android is just great stuff.
Let me know about this base ROM thanks!
Brandon

A new link for the base rom is on the first page. I posted it to mediafire this time so hopefully it won't be removed.

Thanks Dark!
This EXPO getts better by the minute!! I think an update to 6.5.3 is all it needs really!! I probably will keep it in the long run. Tilt2 has the nice screen, but i can't see myself giving up the snapdragon now that its in my hands.
I do like SOME (very little) of the LG stuff, but LGidles as a whole is no good really.
I like LG Contacts and LG Scheduling nice enough, and mobile banking.
Plan on taking the plunge in the next few days on the custom ROM dark. I will let you know how it goes

Sorry to interrupt you guys but is there a way to find LG Fathom's original ROM? If you know a way, can you please share that?

IQ rom is gone
Hi there,
When I click the link for the IQ rom, it takes me to a Hotfile site that says the file was taken down.
Is it possible to provide a new link?
Thanks!
Mike

Where is the vote? Not to hijack the thread, but it's known that we're going to go 6 months without anything better than the HD2 from HTC meanwhile LG, Samsung and Acer are pumping out WM phones yet there's no XDA support so they will inevitably lack the same base support as we continue to salivate over HTC and it continues to pump out Android phones...We'd all be better off if XDA moved with the industry.

Awesome that you were able to dump the eXpo rom, but we can't do anything with just a dump. We had this problem with the Incite. We had to wait for an official rom because the way LG makes their roms. The format is a .dz file and there are parts of this file that is needed to cook a rom which is not found with a dump.
We would need the actual dz file in order to deconstruct it, dump the contents, cook, and then reconstruct the dz file. Without the dz file we can't flash.

Right the dz file will be helpful but this is nice for just hacking up the phone we have now or porting the apps as well. With the dump there can be driver hacks made and all kinds of other fun goodies its a start...

This is def. very exciting and I very much look forward to seeing things getting ported from this phone to all of our other WM phones!! So we can have pieces of this phones apps/programs running in our phones to play with!!
GREAT JOB NOW LET THE FUN BEGIN

that was faster than I expected. Great work!

Just because you can't do anything with a dump because it doesn't give you all the stuff you need, doesn't mean it isn't useful for other purposes.
Apps porting, driver research, etc. I am personally not interested in flashing the LG Expo (mainly because I don't have one) but I was in need of the dumps.
So... shortsighted much?
Wonderful News
This is great!!!
I tried to dump my LG IQ which is the Canadian version of this phone, but didnt work too long at it, and I fail because the phone said device not ready in the dumping process.
If you want to PM me with how you did it, and give me a bit of advice, I would be willing to try again.
The Telus and AT&T versions are slightly different, one difference being that the Telus phone has a slightly newer version of windows ce on it.
Telus 5.2.21868.5.0.69
AT&T 5.2.21749..don't know the rest
Awesome job......
Installing this CAB on your phone and rebooting should get rid of that pesky error:
http://www.jongma.org/tmp/MultASync_Security_Policies.cab
(Taken from MultASync project)
Aside from that, it's just pdocread / raw dump as usual ...
For an example of the commands, see:

As a fellow user of the LG Expo, would be more than happy to help out as I can.

Thank you Chainfire! Telus IQ ROM dump
OK I am now feeling like an idiot.
Yes, the disk on the IQ is called DSK1: not FLASHDR
Yes, this cost me being at least two weeks later than I needed to be.

Easy mistake to make: but rest assured, everyone only makes this mistake but once, and probably every dumper once made it
Sorry, I should of been a bit clearer, but when I said we can't do anything with just a dump I was referring to cooking. Someone had mentioned seeing custom roms soon so I was just pointing out that that wouldn't be possible until we get a base rom to work with. If I confused anyone it was not my intention.

I am running NRGz 21855 Dec 31st Standard build and it is pretty sweet. A few bugs but it is still nice. NRG also puts out another TP2 ROM which is less than bleeding edge but more stable codenamed Pheonix. Also sense 2.8 (used to be called Manila) has recently been released for the Leo so we will see it baked into Roms including the above listed one very soon!
Omg kroniced thank you to for repling, Im having a hard time with this, there is a good chance im going to be asking for help. Thanks alot for the link man, I really mean it.

So what exactly happens when you run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.EXE? Is it a connection error, a program error, a device error? If you have a Tilt2, you probably need to install this to your device before you run the executable. BTW, you're not backing up your device with HardSPL, you're replacing the stock, HTC bootloader with a patched bootloader, a process which you only need to do once. It's also not necessary to back up your device before flashing a new ROM, it's just recommended if you have important stuff saved to main memory, since you lose all the data on your device each time you flash. You will not lose data when installing HardSPL with this executable.

A .cab is an installer, just like an EXE or MSI on a desktop computer. Don't uncompress it, just put the .cab file as is onto your device, disconnect your device from the computer, browse to wherever you put it with File Explorer Mobile, and open it. Install it to internal memory and you're done. Also, try disabling your Antivirus/Firewall and ensure you have Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista/7) or ActiveSync (XP and lower). And no offence, but you might want to hold off on flashing for a little while, at least until you get a bit more acquainted with Windows Mobile. I recommend that everyone who flashes their device at least understand the technical aspects, since that highly reduces chances of bricking as an end result.
DaveTheTyntIIGuy thank so much I did what u sed and i instolled it with no problems to my phone. You just helped me in a big way. Now I know how to download programes to my phone. So I think I have an idea how to do what i first came here to do. But your are rite 100%, I gotta get a understanding of this before I do anything so I dont screw up my phone. Thank you alot. So now that I downloaded the enablerapinew my phone is ready for when I decide to get a new interface on the phone like the Manila 2.5 / 2.8 / ext. ?
Get accustomed to you phone by doing the minor cabs and tweaks found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524655
Most of this stuff is harmless and will get you use to using cabs and changing things on your phone.

No, that .cab enables RAPI (Remote API) on the Tilt2, which allows programs like the HardSPL unlocker, on the PC, to control the device to an extent, which it needs to do in order to flash HardSPL.

On the stock Tilt2, the version is 2.1.19183217.0
Note that this can also be seen by looking at the About section of the Settings tab in TF3D.
This is awsome DaveTheTytnIIGuy, the programe you sent me worked. I was suscussfully able to flash my HardSPL, with Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3. Thank you. So now I'm up to the next step witch is finding a ROM.
Is it possible to get Manila without flashing a cooked rom or is manila a cooked rom? I guess what I am asking is Can you get Manila as a CAB file or do you have to flash it as a ROM?

The only way to get a different version of Manila is to change ROMs. If you're using the stock ROM, you'll need to switch to a cooked ROM to get one of the newer versions of Manila.

[Ask Your Questions Here] Questions And Answers for Vogue Users

All,
Due to good success in the Blue Angel section, I have decided to open a Questions and Answers thread on this section of the forum as well. This will be good to keep the number of new threads with questions down to a minimum, which will make new threads essentially for people that are contributing to the Vogue in any way. This includes but is not limited to people that are providing
*New Roms and Kitchens
*Programs and Apps
*Fixes
*Skins
*Tips and Tricks
However, I have a life (and so do most of you), which is why I would like to request the help from other Seniors (or anyone who knows the answer really ) to monitor the thread as well. This will have the added side effect of creating an ever self updating knowledge base that will far extend the content of the Wiki. This will in turn save us from having to answer the same question 37000 times...
Without further ado, lets go for it!

Hi there Gents any input
Barogi awesome so far for v2; media player not staying in full screen mode though, and manila home weather under clock wont update when you push update now also getting error message for manila home on reboot
Great idea for a faq page!
I have been using a NFSfan rom on my bell vogue for a while, and it crapped out today for some reason. Rather than put another WM build on it, I wanted to change to Android.
I have looked through many pages in here, but I can't find a simple tutorial on switch from a custom WM build to a Android build. I prefer to use the NAND method so that I don't ever have to see WM again...
Can someone create or point me towards a step-by-step guide for installing Android? Keep in mind that I have absolutely no Android experience, and that my custom ROM is completely messed up, so would it make for sense to flash the a manf build and upgrade from there?
Thanks

One last thing, please do not double post. Thanks for understanding...
I have a question:
I recently flashed the Bell rom with the latest radio (I couldn't get the radio only nbh to apply properly), and then subsequently flashed with the latest NagROM rom (which is awesome btw).
Now of course, at startup i have the nice HTC screen with the rom version etc, followed by an AWFUL blue BELL screen (and then the nice orange wm6.5 screen).
Is it possible to change the blue BELL screen? And if so how?

There was a cab to change that somewhere around here in this section of the forum. Alternatively, you can flash NFSFan's rom (which will get rid of it), or you can try mine as well and then reflash Nag's rom.

Hey everyone,
So I was running NSFANS 6.5 ROM on my device (Amazing ROM btw) But I needed to revert back to the stock rom. I used the VZW updater to go back to the stock rom and I changed the esn on line. When I dialed the *228 and choose option 1 I got a failed message. So I called customer support and he walked me through a manual programing. Well that got voice working but when I went to use the data it wouldn't work. I made sure all the network settings were right, and I still couldn't connect. Well then I hard reset the device and now I am back to square 1. No voice no data. Is this something from NSFANS rom that is messing the phone up? I don't want to call again because their tech support takes forever and I am afraid they are just going to tell me to take the phone into the store. Thanks in advance!

Why did you change the E$N? Where you using the device in a different carrier?
Back to your problem. Your EPST settings should survive a hard reset as those are parameters that are not stored in Windows (afaik). It really makes not difference which rom you are using (at least for Voice and SMS).
Lets focus on your main phone's capabilities first. If your EPST settings truly got lost, you will need to get them from Verizon again. The main ones are the MSD and MIN. Make sure that you write them down this time as you will need them again if they go bye bye.
As for your internet, you will probably need to set the correct username in the phone's programming as well (also info that you will need from Verizon, but it should be something like [email protected] or something like that)
Do that and let me know if this works. They will have to program this for you this time, but once you have the values that I mentioned before, you will be able to do it yourself.

Try to get Barogi's latest "lite" rom. Also, you can't go wrong with vin's 28014 or NFSFan's rom. I would recommend mine, but I think they might be a little heavy for what you want. Good luck.

Try to avoid stock if you can... it has a bad tendency of being too heavy on the extra apps.
I checked out just SS's of both. Both look awesome, but theres something about the simple look ( or im just used to it since my 8125 ) of the stock look. I would like to have the look but the added memory of a cooked rom.
With NSFSfans, could you remove the today screen plug ins to get back to a more stock look?
Im runnin 2.1 android eclair at the moment, and im barley pulling a full day battery with no data/bluetooth. With the old winmo, I was getting 2.5 days-3days. Thats another main concern for me.

Gruessle -> Kaiser Froyo Rom

06/16/2011
The screenshots are not important. This is not a theme!
You can install a theme from here, for example if you like.
The theme it comes with is the:
Go Louncher Classical Theme (The new version of it)
The software installed is also not important, because you can remove it.
Google Market is installed, and you can install what ever you like, just like on your computer.
https://market.android.com
This is the actual Android Froyo operating system for the HTC Kaiser
So, stop asking me for screenshots and software installed, it's not relevant.
And the how to install guide is been posted here
Bug reports are welcome, other then that, I don't wont to hear from you.
Don't post a thank you either, there is a bottom for that, and you can also vote on the poll up there, but install and test it first!
Again Bug reports only, please!
I been working on this for 3 days straight, and figure I'll share what I got.
Everything seems to be working, except the camera is blurry, but that seams to be the norm.
Included is the rom, radio and kernel
ROM: 2.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.25
Radio: KAISER 1.70.19.09
Panel: 2
Key Map: US Normal

Can you write something more about this? Is this your system and kernel(compiled yourself)? Any changes?

That sounds like a trick question.
Yes, at first I compiled everything my self but then to resolve bugs, I looked at other systems and basically stole stuff from them to fix my bugs. In other words, I can't take all the credit, it was a community effort.

I removed most everything from the system and installed it in user space. So the system is very lean. You can uninstall what you don't like.
how is the rom?just waiting to see
gruessle ...!! thanks for your efforts in getting this done... I been looking from long time to install Android on my HTC TyTN II. However i was not able to get the proper build...
can you share the screenshots of the build which you provided as well some steps at high level on installing this..
Thanks in advance.
Please, I don't really understand how to go upgrade this. I find it hard to do. Is everything needed packaged in this download, or please can u list things needed to change to android. I'll appreciate your response.

Anyone else having trouble getting the kernel to install?
I get to 33% and the phone reboots...
Radio installed fine even though I was already using 1.70.19.09, just to be sure I installed everything in the package.
Installed HardSPL 3.34 and a WinMo 6.1 rom (custom) to see whats wrong. Installed L1q1d's kernel and goes right in like it should.
Checked .NBH with NBHCreator and only found 1 thing wrong: kernel set to Eclair instead of Froyo. Changed to Froyo and saved, attempted reflash and still won't go in...
;(Losted);
I also tried to install this kernel but I can't. Flashing in hardspl after few second give folowing error:
00018003
Os Fail
Update Terminate
UPDATE Fail.
Changing parameters in atools not helping. Every another kernel is flashing without problems so it's not phone fault
Gruessle, thanks for your efforts! I want to try your rom but being a noob waiting for more comprehensive list of known errors before flashing it to my kaiser.
Ok, quick "bug report":
After working with the kernel pack multiple times I have come to the conclusion that there might be a bug in the actual kernel file itself, throwing a code back to HardSPL and RUU (how I install).
I first noticed a problem in that the kernel was originally set up for a Polaris and had no resolution set. The size of the file should be unimportant as Scoot's newer kernel is in the order of 3.2-3.3MB in size (with the RIL patch installed it gets even larger), this one is 3,099KB, and l1q1d's is almost always 3,092KB.
The second issue I noticed is with the Froyo package itself... It's split up into many files (open the package in 7zip and you'll see what I mean). Normally, the packer has the files all listed inside the .tgz file, this one has the files inside many other files.
I have thus not installed the system on either phone because (correct me if I'm wrong), the kernel contains the basic directories for where everything is installed, and if I were to try and install this package on say, l1q1d's kernel, the phone would most likely crash because the files would not be found, including /system.
If ANYONE wants to dig deeper into this problem, feel free to message me. Personally, I think we've about finished getting all we can from the Kaiser, and much respect goes out to those who have done all the work in the past, but there's always that glimmer of hope that someone will find a way to pack this into a working rom installable through RUU or HardSPL.
I have one last thing to say:
Gruessle, please do your homework BEFORE posting things like this. There are people out there who still depend on this phone to operate as it is their only phone. I Personally cannot afford to go spend $100-200 on a replacement phone if this one goes down (thats why I have 2 of them). If you post something that does not work on the platform that you say it will, please correct it or move it to the proper forum.
BTW, I call shenannegans on one of the 5-star votes... just sayin'.
Your kernel have fake ;/ . rom works great ;D
sorry for bad english;p

1) The kernel doesn't care where you place the files. Right now I use a debian system with Ferora and Gentoo in a chroot. Both work fine with the Debian kernel.
In other words, if you have a kernel that works for you then use that it should work with the rest of the installation.
2) I don't get what you mean with files are "split up into many files", I am just guessing but you must be extracting it wrong. Maybe it's a windows thing, I haven't used windows in 15 years so I wouldn't be able to help you with that.
3) I have included everything you need to duplicate what I got, which works for me, and it appears to work for others too. Now i don't use that phone much, and there might be bugs I am unaware of, but don't tell me it doesn't work at all, just because you can't get it to work.

barmalini, it appears that a few people have trouble installing the Kernel, but the ROM seams to work for everybody as far as I can tell.
According to my server records the files have been downloaded over 200 times and I have yet to hear a complain about the ROM.
So I would say try to install the Kernel, but if you can't still use the ROM with a Kernel that works for you.
If you have trouble installing from windows you can also try a live CD from debian or knoppix. I installed everything from a Debian system. (Knoppix is based on Debian)
If you don't know what a live CD is then go here for info:

PoXFreak,
you are not the only one having trouble, installing the ROM it appears.
I am wondering, are you also using Microsoft Windows to install the ROM?
If so can you try again with Linux, because it worked fine for me.
If you don't have Linux you can use a Live CD
Also if you can't get it to work, try the ROM with a Kernel that works for you.
Please report, I will check back.

RadioComm v11.11.11

Here we have it,
RadioComm support tool, used for Motorola Handsets.
I found the link somewhere on the net
This is the latest edition i have found so far,
Good Luck

Guide on how to actually use Radiocomm 11.11.11?
I've only seen screen shots for it but it has a lot of options and looks like a really complex program. All I need it for is to simply flash SPRecovery.spf on my phone when I root it. So could anyone link me to a Radiocomm flashing guide or at least tell me what I need and what to do and if I need to do it before or after rooting? Thanks and I've rooted a lot but never changed recoveries, all the one click root apps give me recoveries that I hate such as RA-eris V1.6.2 because they are a pain. I'm manually rooting my Eris [I've already done manual rooting before] and just choose my own recovery and SPRecovery has gotten a lot more kudos than RA-eris v1.6.2 [Amona Ra?] and ClockworkMod. If anyoen also knows of any other recovieres they like better than please let me know, but for now just a good how to guide for flashing with Radiocomm. Thanks a lot in advance guys! =]
Hi There,
I apologize for not having any links off hand, (though i may be able to update int he future).
I know i have ran across a few guides for radiocomm on the internet... Try using Google.com, and keep an eye out for .pdf files..
I am sure you can tinker around in the menu's also... It is a very robust program...
And, just curious... Did you mean to say .SBF file? instead of .spf?
Good Luck
Here You Go,
I found an older manual for Radiocomm... Idk where i found it, or how helpful it may be... but it's a step in understanding...
Good Luck
yep this tool is interresting...
Here is version 11.12.2
Thanks for posting these files but I can't get them to work. They will not find any of my phones. I have the motorola drivers installed and my puter finds the phone but the radiocomm program won't connect, it stays red. I am running windows 7 with motorola 5.5 drivers, net framework 4 is installed. I tried it in compatability mode, the phones are set to pc mode. my phones are a droid 2 global, and two are a bionic. Can someone please help me out?? Thanks!
For all to know.
The low level tools are written for use with WinXP or lower.
Use with a newer Windows in XP-Mode at your own risk.
That's why to keep an old XP machine (or Win2K) on hand.
Good info everyone!!
Here is a backup link to the version epsylon updated us with.. :]

Well technically the most important thing with these kind of programs is the bits. Most of them are written for 32bit OS.
I'm using win8 32bit and all of my tools work fine. Just used Radiocomm today and yesterday to read some info from some older motorolas.
Granted not *everything* will work. I had to use Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.0 or newer to get it work right.
5.0.1 or older would BSOD on me when I tried to do too much with the RIM Virtual Serial Port.
How to use this program to enable the FM radio on my Motorola phone? Someone claims to have done this using this program but he's not responding to requests for more information. I've installed the program but don't want to brick my phone. In the past I've messed with other programs like QPST and QXDM to enable additional bands so I'm not an entire newbie. Thank you.
Here is a link for using radio comm on droid,https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr
