There are many on the internet, but I'm looking for one which also inserts the 'calls' into the phone call log.
Are there any such apps? Can someone with programming experience make one? I'm sure it'll be useful to many people. Thanks.

I'm also interested in such an app...
@Cryst: OP mentioned in the topic title, he's talking about a fake calls software. In which you can fake a call to yourself.

Guys .... just downloaded this .... works perfectly ...

does it allow you to use a vibrate for your texts? thats really the oly feature I'm missing from IMSMS.
So many free apps out there for it. No thanks!

what free threaded app do you suggest then?
Except for a bunch of features that haven't been implemented yet, I'd have to say this is the best threaded sms program out there for the SP. Good GUI and being able to read from the existing inbox and sent items.
I wouldn't pay for it just yet with all the missing features but it looks very promising.
Agreed. I like it, but missing a few things.....
prefer the interface to IMSMS tho!
I really wish IMSMS and the others would display the number of unread messages on the homescreen. I txt a lot and that's a dealbreaker for me. even if it was a custom plugin it'd be better than nothing. Why dont they use the internal database to do this like extreme text does?

Um, this is the Extreme Text thread.... perhaps ask on the IMSMS thread and you may get and answer either way if it is possible or not. Posting a complainant and comparing a free SMS software on another thread for another piece of software seems a bit off.....
Um, I know what thread this is. Someone mentioned IMSMS and I was pointing out that IMSMS doesn't do something that this one does.
Look up the definition of "rhetorical question."

I now understand your point.
I know what rhetorical questions are, my wife has to resort to those as well.
Is there a way to find out from which number has an sms arrived, when more than one number is associated with the sender?

Nice question!
This happens because of microsoft: They do not understand that in other countries, unlike the United States, pepople have more that ONE mobile phone..
So they don't handle this situations.
I solve in a silly way.. But i don't have evidence that works: i simply replay to the sms.. And I see what number it uses for destination.
Ohh I see.
If it really uses the number in the reply which was used to send the sms, then it is a good workaround.
But we cannot be sure, can we?
Maybe someone has already made a simple app/plugin/whatever to find out the number or something?

I'm sure of it
It's no different from replying to an email when sender has more than one email address in your Contacts - your reply goes back to the address the sender used to send the original message. It's behaviour by design.
I was farting around the other day and came across an app that (if I recall correctly) does that. I am really sorry because I cannot remember the name of the program, but I will try to re-trace my farting around and if I come across it, I'll post back here.
Ok, thx!

Does anyone know of a call recorder that works without the speakerphone? I've downloaded so many of these programs and not a single one actually picks up the other end with real clarity. You would think this wouldn't be that hard to find. Anyone know???

LOL...yes I've been to the store to download a program that works. The problem is...they don't work well. As I've read in most posts, these programs seem to use the mic to record the other side of the call. This will not do. I'm looking for something that actually captures the other side of my call clearly. Try again?

Now I don't know if this is true or not but from what I'm reading, in order for these programs to pull from the incoming signal and not the mic, it most be partially done through the kernel. Not sure if I'm right on this. I found a cab file containing a fix however it was for Froyo and I don't think it will work on later versions of ROM's (Been testing your HD Bliss ROM for a few weeks now).
I had been using the Whitepages Caller ID app on my LG G2X and it worked beautifully. Gave me caller ID on incoming and outgoing calls and texts.
However, when I installed this app on my T-Mobile LG G3, no caller ID on phone calls, only texts. Actually there is a popup to ID calls but it's not logged in the app. The Whitepages tech support is beyond horrible. So can anyone recommend a solid Caller ID app for the G3?

U know you can read user reviews and experiences with apps on the play store, right? Or even install, get your own experience out of it and keep if you like or uninstall if you don't like. Smh........
Here, I'll even help a brotha out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.truecaller&hl=en
Wow... there was absolutely no reason for being rude like that! You asked a question and you received a perfect answer and a suggestion to a great app. I was going to suggest an app, but I won't now.

I'm not your "brotha". I posted asking for a G3 forum user's experiences with Caller ID apps, that's all. I know how to use Google, as well as read Google Play reviews (which few people trust), and if it's O.K. with you I'd rather trust the good people of XDA instead.
So you don't need to talk down to me or be rude about it.
Wow. What a sense of entitlement you have there trollololollol

This post made me laugh, behave guys leave your egos at home on xda its not needed. Just be friendly with each other, if someone is a smart ass just ignore and move on.. no need to start drama.
With that said, this app supercontact has a built in caller ID feature basically once you have it installed on your phone when you get a call
you will get the location / caller ID info from that call..it doesnt work for text.
supercontact
I use my phone for business.
I have thousand of people in my contacts.
I want to see caller's name and company before I pickup the phone.
iPhone can do this, how about Android?
phone>settings>callerid &spam. Google tries to provide the name of the caller if not in your contacts list. In the past I remember having choices as to what it used to obtain the callers information. I cant find that anymore.

Thank you.
I already tried both of them.
Smart Notify is working if phone is not locked. If it is locked then full screen caller id come, than no callers's company info shown.
Call informer was the App i was using 4 years ago. I already tried it since i swicthed back to android.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with newest android phones. Like my Pixel 3 XL.
But it works great with Asus zenfone 3. Which has android 8.0.0
It would be great if there is an update to call informer.
