Antivirus Soft on TILT2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi,
What antivirus works and can be trusted for Tilt 2? I tried Symantec, but it doesnt work and gives errors.
Thank you.

http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=30

says it supports 6.1. I don't see that it supports 6.5. Do you know if it does?
HT

Yeah it will run

Sorry, but I'm little sceptical about this program.

flexilis is what i've used and it seems to work well

is that really necessary? i think you only need antivirus and antispyware on a windows desktop.

This gives only malware protection, no virus protection

Don´t think antivirus is really needed yet...
Leo is just about to get Rhodium!!!
guys go and vote!

That's ridiculous, Leo doesn't have a keyboard.

So, no one uses antivirus on the phone!? It is good news for hackers! And surprise for me!

http://www.bullguard.com/why/bullguard-mobile-antivirus.aspx
Found that via Microsoft's website, so I would imagine it's legit. $40 though. And I've honestly can't say I've ever heard of anyone getting a virus on their mobile phone before, though I don't think it's impossible.
ETA: I would imagine you can connect your phone to your PC as a disk drive, and use your desktop anti-virus to scan it. Has anyone tried this?

Does ActiveSync 4.x crash your XP?

I have AS4.1 installed and running on XP and XP crashes with a ialmrnt, audio, or some sys dll file error. This is while having AS connected through USB. What really pisses me off is when the BA isn't connected to the computer, everything is okay. I need to pinpoint what is really cause the problem. Does AS4.x crash you WinXP install?
No. Maybe it's something with your version of Office?
Well I found out it wasn't AS. BSOD'ed on me without AS activated. Either f'ing hate windows or Intel, one of the two. This is a new install, no Office suite installed, barely any apps installed. Only necessary applications for web design, ftp, and SSH. Maybe time to swich to Mac.
Thanks to the only person that replied. I guess people are right about members on this site only replying when they have something they need. You guys are great!
Works normally here.
No, it is very reliable, compatibility with my WindowsXP. Maybe your system is illegal copy.
Nahh.. works on a pirated copy too
ya i downloaded an illegal copy of activesync 4.1 from a warez server from china.
We were referring to a pirated copy of Windows XP

I don't think you understood my sarcasm. Oh China servers have what he was refering to also. Come on now, do you honestly beleive I would think it was a good or bad copy of the OS that was crashing it? Anyway, this thread was solved long ago. A bit late for anyone to start posting now.
Cheers.

MSN/Live on MDA mail

I have just recieved my MDA Mail (Dash/Excalibur) today, but with no Pocket MSN installed
I would really like this on there, aside from paying the £10.99 is there any way to get it? I have tried the tip of downloading the older 2002 version and updating but it doesn't work, it says this software isn't inteded for this device because its too old or something like that.
What I would reeeeeally like is the MSN Live Beta....
well i know the files are posted here somewhere. did you search for wlm or windows live?
good luck

I do not use a MAC, never have, and will not in any near future, but why do you hate MAC's?
And yes.. It's a a bit off topic..
PS. Never say never :-/
Well I rly dont like MAC interface and the system look is too much eye-candy :/

I see.. Now lets really hope that you will never use Vista than.
Ill use it when sp2 or sp3 will come or when newest programs wich I would like to use would only run on Vista. Ehhh why halo 2 is for Vista ((( I dont want Vista yet

Last thing I say about this off topic here.
Vista is even more eye-candy, so your theory about MAC and it being "too much eye-candy" does not really stand!
OT: Vista, Halo 2, forced 'upgrades'

Why is it for vista only? Because Microsoft wants you to buy their software, and if they can make it so the stuff you want to use is vista only, all the better for them.
As for Halo 2, there are ways to make it run under XP, and I can vouch for the fact that they do work.
How to do it is an exercise for the reader.
And don't hate an environment/OS unless you have actually used it, otherwise you come across as another of the drooling fanboys.
I've used both and I get more work done on a Mac than I do on Windows.
I worked for about year on MACs when I was in school when I wanted to get a techinc status. Their interface does not suit me, I always found it horrible somehow please dont hate me for that

But how long ago was that? OS 10 has about as much in common with os 7/8/9 as XP has in common with WfW 3.11
Regardless, I was using 7/8/9 as well and did get more work done.
If the UI is not something you like, then you don't like it, no problems there. I'm not going to try to convert anyone (I use XP, OS 10, and Linux), nor am I going to hate anyone over it.
However, I do find your reasoning (too much eye candy) flawed considering vista tries to outdo Apple on the eye candy thing.
Oh, BTW, it's typed Mac. When you do the MAC thing, I immediately think Media Access Control address.

is a Spotlight "like" app exist for WM6.5

Hello everyone, i'm looking for and app who could do what spotlight for iphone do. the default searh of 6.5 is limited resco one too.
So i would like to know if winmo have equivalent of spotlight. For those who oesn't know, spotlight is a powerful search fonction, very fast which allow you to search every kind of files in your phone, it can be your contacts, mail, appointements... but also MP3, videos, games... EVERYTHING.
how it works ? you enter the word of what you want and it did the rest.
hope winmo have this kind of soft, it very useful, according to me
thx
Windows mobile already has a search function which works fine for me when i used it. i keep my files organised using this amazing microsoft technology called "folders". Im not so sure about the name but it works fine for me.
Seriously, the iphone has spotlight because it needs it. Winmo gives you everything you need to stay organised and then also gives you a search app.

Recommendation needed for a good antivirus for HTC Touch Pro 2 Windows mobile 6.5

Hello Everyone..
Today I flashed the ROM for my HTC TP2 to the one listed below which comes with Windows Mobile 6.5.
ROM Name : WWE RHODIUM Cookie Energy style
ROM Version : 03.Jul.2010 WWE
ROM date: 03/15/10
RADIO Version : 3.45.25.14
Everything seems to be great so far and the only thing I now need is a good antivirus that can protect my device against viruses and other security issues.
Can anyone please recommend me a good antivirus or firewall solution that can be installed on Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional and which should not degrade the performance of the device..?
Any suggestions will really be helpfull..

why would you need an anti virus?
ive used WM for the past 3 to 4 years without an anti virus and i never had any virus problems ever since
but if youre really that concern then, turn off Beam, Bluetooth file sharing, and dont browse any sites that may contain a virus.....but thats AFIAK
cuz really WM phones arent really that immune to viruses AFIAK
Sorry to be a pain here...
but what if I recieve an infected email? Wont it harm my phone?
I do not browse those vulnerable websites nor have any habbit of downloading suspicious applications. I am concerened about email...
Please advise..
No way something can infect your WM phone. There are about 3 viruses for WM as far as I know, and they are all installed by cabs or other **** from warez.
If you are so concerned about privacy and viruses you may try Lookout. I really enjoy its localization service. It has a got a firewall and a anti-virus integrated.

pocket outlook doesnt execute any macros or other things like desktop outlook does
also, it would have to be a virus written for WM, viruses written for other (dekstop) windows wont infect windows mobile

I don't think AV is needed, but eset makes one www.eset.com.
KAspersky
Kaspersky make antivirus programs for mobile phone. Work good with the TP2

Precisely, it's like a Windows virus harming a Mac computer. Windows Mobile is wayyyy different than desktop version of Windows, therefore the same viruses on desktop won't work on Windows Mobile.

Thanks.. I wasnt aware WM is not yet that exposed to viruses.. However, its better safe than to be sorry...
I did try mylookout.com and its awesome.. It hasn't affected my mobiles performance yet and find it good in terms of security and protection so far..

Thanks for clarifying my doubt.. I wasnt aware about this and indeed i now feel a bit assured ..
Samylines is right to want antivirus. The "I've never had a virus yet so don't need antivirus software" argument is like saying you'll never wear a seatbelt because you haven't yet had an accident. It's definitely prudent to have the assurance of antivirus especially in an industry that is changing and growing (and the threat of viruses increases) on a daily basis.
I don't know Kaspersky's Mobile antivirus, but I use their PC version and find it superb, so I imagine their mobile version would be good too. And I know that F-secure also make a good mobile antivirus.

as jackos pointed out there are not very many viruses out there for WM (he says 3, ive only heard of 2 though) and they are installed via cabs/exes, not email as the OP is concerned about, and i dont think an antivirus would be very good at stopping those, just like desktop antivirus isnt too good at stopping similar trojans on their OSes
the fact is your desktop usually gets infected via flash player, java, email macros and other means similar to that, and the phone simply doesnt support any of that, so its a lot harder to get infected even if there were more viruses
and with WM losing market share to iphone and android i doubt anyone is keen on making many new viruses for WM
maybe we should start a poll, how many people dont run antivirus and never had a virus
as for me, 10 years using palm, WM and blackberry, no AV, no viruses
I agree with you. I think the chances of getting a virus on a Windows Mobile device are extremely small. But you say yourself "its a lot harder to get infected..." not "its impossible to get infected".
Like you I have been using Windows Mobile for several years and never had a virus, but I'm accepting that the possibility exists. It's the same as insuring your house against the possibility of theft, even though it's very unlikely to happen. I don't understand why you're against someone taking the precaution of installing antivirus software "just in case"?
Peace people
All we can say, anyone who wants to use any antivirus and firewall for his/her Windows Mobile, he does have a few good options.. Else its upto that user to use it not.. isnt it
I did get the option I was looking for and thanks everyone for helping me out and sharing your knowledge here...
