is a Spotlight "like" app exist for WM6.5 - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hello everyone, i'm looking for and app who could do what spotlight for iphone do. the default searh of 6.5 is limited resco one too.
So i would like to know if winmo have equivalent of spotlight. For those who oesn't know, spotlight is a powerful search fonction, very fast which allow you to search every kind of files in your phone, it can be your contacts, mail, appointements... but also MP3, videos, games... EVERYTHING.
how it works ? you enter the word of what you want and it did the rest.
hope winmo have this kind of soft, it very useful, according to me
thx

Windows mobile already has a search function which works fine for me when i used it. i keep my files organised using this amazing microsoft technology called "folders". Im not so sure about the name but it works fine for me.
Seriously, the iphone has spotlight because it needs it. Winmo gives you everything you need to stay organised and then also gives you a search app.

Wow Man !
Folders seems to be an extreme application ? Can you make a CAB of it ? Do I need to install SDKCerts before ?
Hahaha

Are you sure? i mean this is a heavy duty application. I suggest you read up on them here and if you think you can handle it, ill post up a .cab, but make sure you disable touch flow before you install it.
btw: i realised that ive probably killed the joke by now...

any updates on something like this

Text Messaging through PC?

I've done a little research into this and I'm wondering if there's an application to use that I can send text messages through my PC when my S620 is connected?
I found a Microsoft SMS program that seems to only work with non-smart phones. I would think they especially make an app for Windows Mobile phones if they have one for plain old cell phones.
Any know anything?
hey there
There's a product called TrueConnect but it aint free. Look for MyMobile which is almost the same, but ya cant text (that i know off) using it. If anyone knows any different, post a reply please.
DashWire allows it and it's free...

NOOB Questions - Just to confirm

If i buy the touch pro 2,
will i be able to install normal windows mobile applications? For example:
Pocket artist
Omniano
Opera Mobile
Point UI
Evernote
P.S
Does anyone have any idea on how to get like the CNN panel onto the touch pro 2 - like the panel is not needed but the application alone?
Is google map already pre-installed?
And is it better than the xperia?
i cant really answer all your questions coz im new at this 2, i can say it does come with google maps & opera mobile internet browser 2
You should be able to install any WM program, although there is the outside chance that programs that require a fixed screen resolution may not work.
I don't think that the Xperia panel interface has been ported yet, but there is the facility for Push Internet, which basically means that your phone will update websites in the background so that you are always up to date. You could always add CNN as one of the sites.
I don't know if it is better than the Xperia, but the Xperia would have to be VERY good to beat the TP2

JavaFX for Windows Mobile Available

"The other day Java made a version of JavaFX available for download for Windows Mobile Phone devices. JavaFX is intended to bring more rich media content to phones and since JavaFX can be cross platform (PC, Mac, BlackBerry…everything except the iPhone since Apple may never approve of it) developers can make applications one time and they can run on these platforms natively. Windows is the first mobile platform to have a release of JavaFX. The package contains 4 demos. A Twitter client, a simple calculator, a photo viewer and a little application where your finger makes a ripple and the fish follows it.
So for the first time developer’s can start to work on developing JavaFX applications and have a real mobile testing platform. Of course you can run any other Java app through this as well (I tested it with Google Maps java and it ran fine). The download and additional release notes are located here."

whats the diff between JavaFX and regular Java

Well, I test it out and in fact is the best java machine that I test it until now for ppc!!!
Downloaded Opera mini and worked like a charm. Even asked me where I wanted to install opera mini, memory internal or external...
Many thkx sun, hopes that this would be in fact the default java machine in major phones. Or if java was not from Sun....

ooh, thanks for information! need to take a closer look then.
(if only bt work with that too...you know what i mean ..).
upd: hmm it can be SLOW as hell and seems to be typical vga soft, although it handles launched application resolutions quite well(320x240 is 320x240)..

Hmm, I don't know. JavaFX is much, much, much slower with Opera Mini on my Touch Pro than jbed. The font seems a little nicer, though. I think it uses antialiasing.
Interesting app.
Worked fine but....
Could not install file from memory, only by internet, that worked.
Installed Gmail as test. Continuallyl, said there was no internet connection with Wifi and Active sync.
After fiddling with it. I decided to remove JavaFx. After that many strange things happened.
Had to hard reset. :-(

I have removed JavaFX, too, but everything went fine, no hard reset needed. WM6.1, too.
It works on a Touch HD. But for some reason, its slow. Esp. the fish app.
How is the Twitter App? Just asking as I tend to shy away from java apps on my device because I never really had much success with them running properly.
I'm now running Opera Mini in JavaFX rather than JBED. I like it better.
Does anyone know the correct syntax to make a shortcut to automatically run Opera Mini (rather than start JavaFX and choose Opera Mini from the list)?
With JBED it was "\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_

When I click on New application -> From storage, I'm always asked to enter a URL, I can't seem to choose any file. Have it installed on Blackstone latest stock ROM. Any hint ?

The "from storage" option doesn't seem to work, but it's easy enough to just install java apps in the usual manner, as JavaFX makes itself the default JVM. Click on the JAD file in a web browser and it'll install fine.
sun java network problem
so I cooked the sun java package on my tp2.. installed opera mini... but I can't get the network. if you are running opera mini, maybe you have some provisioning files that are nessesary to connect to the internet?? OM just says that there is no network connection.
JavaFx.exe parameters
I see that you still don't know how to run this emulator from a shortcut and run in it any midlet.
But maybe someone haven't posted it yet but knows it. I hope someone will write what is the missing parameter

ignorant TP2/WM user would like guidance!

since getting my TP2 I haven't really changed any settings - mainly because I'm totally clueless about installing new applications and stuff.
I was just wondering what suggestions people would have for a new TP2 user who wishes to get the most out of his new toy?!
I would like to watch films on it, play games on it and listen to music on it. I have heard that coreplayer is good for watching movies but dunno how to go about installing it?! (thats how useless I am!).
Is there a central resource that i should be going to to find applications that are compatible with the TP2, and does anyone have any suggestions for decent applications that I should install, that are recommended and people feel improve the phone?
Also, from what I can tell, I cant just download and install a theme and pick it from a list on the phone? is this correct?
I'd eventually like to get a decent navigation program and some games installed.
I know this sounds like a pretty random post, but i've been reading some posts on here and am confused by how things are installed, and what a CAB is?!
(I also notice that I cannot get this site to load properly on my phone - it just displays a load of random characters? I am using opera, would IE solve this?)
I have an ipod touch and installing stuff on it via itunes is obviously a breeze, so is it as easy on this phone?
thanks for your time

It's all on the wiki or other posts around here ...
CAB: Install from the phone. Either mail it to yourself and download it from your mobile mail, use your USB-cable or bluetooth it or whatever.
EXE: Install it from the PC with the phone attached in ActiveSync mode.
For all the programs. Sorry, just read. I don't think anyone is going to make a list for you, Then again, everyone has different opinions ...
I can read the xda-site perfectly on my TP2. Same on my TP btw.
CAB is just an extension. Like a word document is: paper.doc
A program for you mobile can be: game.cab
A cab file is always an installation file. running this file, installs something on your pocket pc. So you have to run the file on your pocketpc.
As explained above, .exe extensions are programs ran in windows.
If you have a USB cradle the easiest way is to connect it with your pc and make a connection between those 2. Opening devicecentre (or something similar in some other language) en the connecting your TP2 to you pc will result in a popup asking if you want to set the synchornisation settings. Doing so is creating a link between your phone and your pc that will be remembered. So next time you connect, your pc recognises you mobile phone. When you have done this you have several options in the device center.
To move CAB files to your pocket pc you click on the explorer icon (bar) and it opens up your TP2's storage. After copying the file you execute it from your phone.
For installing .exe files, you also start windows mobile devicecentre and make sure they are connected. Then you run the installer from your pc. at some point the installation on the pc says it's done. Look at your phone and it asks permission to install this particular piece of software.

Google coreplayer, download the cab file, copy it to your phone using activesync, run the cab file from your phone using windows explorer, installing it to your storage card

No there isn't a App store like the Ipod , which means we don't have to suffer itunes \o/
Look around on here in the Rhodium Themes & apps section, also look in the Blackstone, Topaz and Sony Ericsson X1 sections. Most programs that run on those devices will work on the TP2

It depends which version of the phone you have. The branded versions may take a bit of work but the unbranded ones should be able to use any themes designed for this device/screen resolution

A CAB file is an executable file that installs a program/theme/registry hack onto your phone. It has to be run on your phone

Are the characters random when you zoom in?
A windows phone is not as easy as an iphone to install stuff, but it is not too difficult, if I can figure it out anyone can! But your TP2 will do more than an iphone and is a better device so its worth persevering with

[REQ]Zombie, Run... Port from Android to PPC

Is it possible yet to port or somehow run an Android app for PPC?
I'd love to be able to use Zombie, Run and my Touch Pro 2.
It's a free game currently under developement.
Here's a link to the open source project, and I've attached the program itself in a zip.
Thanks
http://code.google.com/p/zombie-run/
nope. on Android you use the DalvikVM and program in java syntax, using the Android APIs.
games like these are so easily done on Android because google provides GPS, compass, maps, etc. APIs that are very easy to use.
IF you will see something like this for WM it would be much more work and had to be done from scratch.
Are there any similar games available for windows mobile?
What about this?

It's great, though it would be awesome if it would use internal GPS on phone/laptop
Edit:
I would love to see this on windows mobile, i can even donate some money to make effort worthy
So, no one to do this right for the money? Not only lacking of devs but they're lazy as hell too..
