Hi all,
I'm having troubles with Outlook synchronisation for a long time.
I use normally the MyPhone software to synchronize. This is mainly because when I synchronized with Outlook through ActiveSync a lot of my appoitments (and contacts) were twice in Outlook and in the phone.
What the best would be if Outlook took the data from MyPhone, but that's something impossible.
An other option is to "clean up" the Outlook calendar and contacts before synchronisation. The problem in this is that I don't know how and if this is possible?
Double entrys in Outlook won't botter me that much, however in my phone they do.
Can someone help me with this? I guess I'm not the only one suffering this problem...

A laborious alternative is to sync back to Outlook on your PC, remove the duplicates on your PC, then sync back to device.
If you want to do it in Outlook, you may find it easier if you change the view of your calendar to display by Categories. On Outlook 2003, this is achieved by:
View > Arranged by > Current View > Categories

I have upgraded to mUn_2.00.SE_WWE_GPS and everything seems fine apart from the orange voicemail bug mentioned in another post.
Messenger synchronized my msn contacts onto the phone so I had 2 of each which was fine as I have all ready read about this issue.
So I updated the msn ones and started to remove the original ones from the phone.. They have a different icon
All appeared fine. It would tell me when my contacts were on line etc etc.
I then went to outlook and made sure there were no contacts in there so I could have a fresh updated list of contacts when it synced.
However these contacts will not synced. I created a test one in outlook and that synced fine to my phone. Am I missing something here??
All I want to have is the same contacts on my phone/windows live and outlook. Surely this can be achieved??
Are you using ActiveSync 4.5 already...? I suspect that might have got something to do with your issue
Do you get any error-messages at all ? Giving us some more clues....?
And very important: what version of Outlook do you run ?
more info, hope you can help now
I have it synced with 2 machine and neither work.
1 is windows XP with active sync 4.5 and outlook 2003 the 2nd is vista with the mobile device center and office 2007.
I can sync normal contacts created on the phone or in outlook it is just the ones imported from live messenger that will not copy back to my outlook contacts.
I have a feeling the phone does not recogonise these as contacts as they have a different icon from ones created on the phone. It looks like a grey folder rather than the little address card.
Please help
Hmmmzz....actually this is very interesting; i didn't dare using Live Messenger up until now just BECAUSE of the syncing of ALL messenger contacts into Outlook. Now that you report that it doesn't, the question raises if M$ has meant this to be...
Then again; did you check the settings under Windows-Live (on your Trinity)? You can go to 'options' with the right soft-key, and there are 6 setting menu's there, where you need option 2 to check the box in front of 'Contacts and Messenger'
Let me know if that worked for you...
contacts sync'd to phone but not outlook
what has happened is all the msn contacts have sync'd to the phone but not to outlook.... any ideas why
update
on the menu. select what you want to sync both contacts and messenger and merge duplicates with outlook are ticked
Messenger Contacts and ActiveSync

Did you manage to get your messenger contacts to sync with outlook? I have the sample symptoms you have described.
Cheers
ActiveSync BOOSTER
Is there a way to boost up speed of Sync
Is there a any software or Cab file for it ?
Also want to know after we sync Phone
It keeps repeating to sync, is there a way to stop it ?
With removing the phone
Please Help
contacts are NOT merged, but only show up in 1 list
contacts are NOT merged, but only show up in 1 list.
sim contacts
outlook contacts
msn contacts
are shown whithin the same contact browser but are not really merged.
Each contact type only syncs with it`s proper sourec, pocket outlook wit desktop outlook, msn with msn (or say "live"), and SIM contacts with SIM-import-export programs.
that's all and that's ok.
the real issue is that i find "show SIM-contacts merged yes/no" but cannot find "show msn contacts merged yes/no".
it sucks, but not really too much.

I replaced my cracked LCD with a new one and restored the data from the .stg file using Active sync.
Before restoring the tapping with the stylus works just fine but afterwads it doesn't at all!
Can I do anything to make it work?
If not how to recover all my phone number and addresses from the "*.stg" file?
Thanks
It seems you have some settings in stg, that block your touch screen.
Sync your contacts with outlook, HR and sync in back. Applications and settings must be reinstalled by hand. That's the fastest you can do.
recover contacts with outlook
Could you please elaborate on Outlook as I never use this software.
Thanks
Most people buying BA receive a free license for Microsoft Outlook (Not Outlook express). You can use it for many different tasks (for me this is total mistake, until you are forced to use it, but this is just my comment). One of those tasks is calendar, contacts and adresses database and possibility od synchronizing this database with multiple devices. All ActiveSync-compatible devices can sync data with Outlook and this is recommended method to restore all the contacts after ROM exchange. Outlook is the only known method for synchronisation with GSM phones.
Using GMM and not using POContacts at all. But whatever is in my laptop outlook contacts file appears back on the handheld whenever I sync things up (files/bookmarks). It's annoying as hell as it take up a fair amount of space on the device. I can't figure out how to get rid of the duplicate contacts as I already have them all in GoodMM. Even when I delete/move the contacts out of desktop Outlook, they reappear even though I don't have contacts "checked" for synchronization.
This is maddening...any thoughts?
Well I am not a GMM user, but I do believe there is an option to sync what informations you want in GMM...look around settings and see if you have settings to sync contacts, if so, then disable it and see what happens!
I'm having some problems with syncing my HTC calendar with Outlook. the first sync seemed to go fine, but now HTC Sync seems to go through the process of syncing and then reports success, but my Outlook calendar hasn't been updated.
Any suggestions on what I can do? (My computer is running Windows 7 Home edition.)
Many thanks,
Joe
problems with outlook sync
Looking at it using the manual settings, it seems to me the HTC Sync isn't set up for Windows 7 -- it's looking for outlook folders where they're not. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?
Joe
From reading the Desire sync file, it may be that the problem is that it's syncing the Calendar with the All Users Personal Folder (which I can't find) rather than the Joe F folder.
Any thoughts on either where the all users Personal Folder is, or how I can get Sync to find the folder where my calendar is stored?
Joe
HTC Sync sucks...
I have also had problems with HTC Sync. It´s not very riliable.
I have made a G-Mail account and then installed: CompanionLink
I have setup companionlink to auto sync my calendar and contacts from outlook every 15 minutes.
You just setup the phone to sync with g-mail and it works like a charm without having to use cable and think about it.
this maybe not what youre looking for but it´s a solution that works
MicTh
I hadn't heard of companionlink but I'd inadventently discovered that when I synced my gmail my calendar was synced to the gmail calender. I'll add companionlink and have a complete solution.

Ok..finally got my Desire to Froyo..have been quite happy until I noticed that I can no longer upload Calendar updates to my PC's Outlook calendar.
I can make changes on the my Windows 7 PC's Outlook Calendar and have that go to my Desire but any Calendar changes on my Desire will not synch up to my PC's Outlook calendar. There are no problems with synch'ing contacts. Yes, I used the PC Synch calendar on the Desire.
This wasn't a problem before. Is HTC Synch not 100% compatiblewith Froyo?
Thanks for any insights.
PS:
1) Tried uninstalling/reinstalling HTC synch - no change there.
2) I've also noted that recurring entries in the calendar (eg: Birthdays) are getting duplicated on the days they occur (ie: 2 entries in the same day). Also, there are duplicate contacts being produced too.
sorry i'm not going to be much help here but i agree that htc sync is unpredictable at best. i constantly have to reboot my pc or phone or both to get sync to work and now my contacts have stopped syncing. again.
you might want to search for a leak of the updated version of htc sync to see if that helps. i'm assuming that it was pulled for a valid reason but it might be worth a try ...

Click to collapse
I also have the same behaviour, new entries in the phone calendar are not added to the outlook calendar despite being flagged as "PC Sync"
For the birthday thing, I think that it is to do with the info you have stored against a contact in their contact card in outlook, if you have a date for their birthday in the details section of the contact, then sync repeatedly adds it to the calendar for you, even if it is there already
I have the same problem. So I've moved all Calendar entries in Outlook to temporary forder, then from Desire removed Outlook account, manually deleted all Outlook calendar entries in Desire's Calendar (they have left there, despite of account deletion) , then recreated Outlook account (Calendar after all these steps synced OK), and moved back all Calendar entries in Outlook from temporary folder back to main. This solved the non sync problem.
After all I've talked with Exchange specialist. He said, that for some reason Calendar database in Desire become corrupt, and after that the syncing become unimpossible.
Ok, I've managed to fix this (I think anyway!) works for me with outlook 2003, Couple of steps:
Step 1 (optional) gets your missing items onto your PC:
In HTC sync Manger (on PC) go into "settings" then calendar, then click properties, untick deafult calendar and then when selecting the folder to sync with, create a new calendar "temp" or something
Now sync with that calendar: for me this meant that everything on my phone (including the items not uploading before) now goes into this new calendar
Now go back and revert to syncing to the original calendar (the default calendar or me) and lo and behold the missing items now sync up to that too
I thought this was everything sorted, but new items created in the phone still don't sync up to outlook....
so Step 2:
On phone, go into settings, applications, manage applications, all
then for calendar and calendar storage apps go in and "clear data", this will leave you with an empty calandar on your phone, but don't panic...
in HTC sync manger (on PC) go into settings and unselect contact syncing (otherwise the PC will overwrite contact info)
Then go into "repair" and select option for PC to overwrite phone
you can now reselect contacts to sync too under settings menu in HTC sync
Having done this, everything is back on my phone and (for now at least) new appointment items created on the phone sync up correctly too
Hope this helps someone,
P
THANKS!
GENIUS.
popkid's solution works. HTC should employ you..none of their ideas worked, your's did.
1000 cheers for taking the time to work out and post the solution!
Caution HTC Sync 3.0.5422
(Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30)
3.0 does not have the feature to do a repair - force copy clean from handset or PC.
For me, sych has resulted in a large number of yearly recurring all day events being duplicated and copied with a one hour adjustment - the new ones run from 1:00-1:00 and thus span two days.
I am back using 2.0.33 (which is not without bugs either)
