Dude, WTF are you talking about, lol!
It's a CDMA phone, it's not locked. No CDMA phones are. If you are talking about the "unlock code" to access the programming menu to enter the IMEI it's based off the ESN so you have to call the carrier to get it. It also come times depends how many times the phone has been programmed but not on this phone.
It's a Verizon phone, what carrier are you trying to activate it under? You are going to have to contact your carrier and see if you can get a tech to add it's ESN to their system and then have a tech install that carriers PRL file.
Hi, thanks for the tips.
So, what I have to do is bring the phone to the new carrier and ask them to add the ESN? Do they will need any unlocking code from Verizon? Please hep me to explain to them. Thank alot for your help
You can't just walk into a store or call their customer support. Hopefully you already have service and just need to do an ESN change. Also I presume the carrier you want is also CDMA correct?
You are going to cautiously ask a tech in a store if they know someone at corporate who can add an ESN to their system and you may have to make it worth his while. Then he is going to have to download that carriers PRL for you. Then he himself can do the ESN change and programming. Based on the ESN he should be able to figure the unlock code for the programming menu or he may have to do it over the air.
Lastly and very important, you are going to have to hard reset and install the ExtROM for your carriers version of that phone. If it's Telus or Sprint we can help you with that.

Hello.
Did you unlock your phone?. How did you do it?. I have an Audiovox XV6600WOC (PH20A2 CDMA).I need to quit from Verizon because I am in anoher country and I would like to put new cell line.
Thanks in advance, Rol&

Thanks 92GTA.
I went to my new carrier Telefonica del Peru:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Priority 2
32385 [D] RM ?? (Peru)
32509 [D] RM ?? (Peru)
32511 [D] RM Telefonica Del Peru - Lima (Peru)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
But they couldn't give me a PRL.
WHAT IS PRL?
Is it a complex file?
Is it just a secuence of numbers?
Is it a special program *.prl?
Where can I find the infamous PRL to transer into the phone an update the old?. Currently appears PRL version 50224.
An the *.prl file appears in blank.
Thanks in advance.

if its a harrier theres no wm5,wm6,wm6.1 nor wm6.5 for these phones sorry, but in the other hand if its a HCT blue angel the gsm variant then yes.
Not using Radio
I have an old Sprint PPC 6600 (PH20A2). It is not activated for service on Sprint. Since I am not using the Radio, will a Blue Angel ROM work for me to give me WM 5 or higher. I'd like to have this device run WM 5 or higher so I can test and use other WM programs before I use them on my Touch Pro.
Verizon XV6600 To MetroPCS ESN issue
I have everything working correctly, simply by loading the PRL and changing some options in the service menu (dialed ##778<talk> code:000000) I can contact MetroPCS, recieve notification of voicemail but I cannot make calls or receive them because the ESN is not is not registered with their company. I contacted them over the phone and spoke with them personally at a local store but they said they couldnt do it for this particular phone. So is there a way to change my ESN or clone the ESN of the phone I currently own and have service for?
FYI:MetroPCS flashes the rom and then clones the ESN numbers, so its perfectly legal in Florida.

+1.
This forum has been vital in helping my in every aspect in getting my 6600 from VZW to Sprint. Now I just need to change the ESN number over to a sprint one so I can use the phone.
Any thoughts? Its just something to use in the interim until a more permanent solution arises.
Help?
i don't really know about the harrier and also i don't really have a clue about cdma networks, we don't have stuff like that in europe, but anyways, i was curious and googled "ESN number" and guess what popped up 3rd in search, a way to change it. at least for normal phones, anyways, here's the link, maybe it can help you:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2051233_change-esn-number.html
and by just looking at the screenshots, it actually might work, since all that is just dependable of a virtual com port, assigned to usb and seems independant from the phone's os, just need the modem drivers.
and maybe this might help you too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=846264&postcount=6
i really don't know whether any of that was helpful, but since i am already here and there are hardly any harrier users around, might anyone want to explain to me, why there even is such a problem? maybe i could help and search things more effectively then, basicly i just know about gsm, and my phone works with any card, and my card works with any phone, my carrier does not know about my imei, my brand, my phone model or my position. they just know my name, birthday and address, they don't even have my bank information or anything.
that is why i don't get all the lockings and restrictions and probably am a poor help right now.

Yes, I've tried that several times before, but the phone never uses a specific port when connecting via USB or blue tooth. It never shows up/is recognized on QPST even when connected to the cradle, and or in Bootloader mode. It seems that, unfortunately, in order for QPST to connect to the phone, the phone needs to be in DM (daig mode) which doesnt seem to exist because the code ##diag+talk or ##diag# nor any supplied before manages to set the phone in said mode. I've spent countless hours searching the net looking for an answer and so far nothing has come up. Which is why I decided to post here. My last and most recent discovery has been dmrouter.exe but so far I havent been able to try it. If it works I'll post it as a solution here. If it does not then I think I'm going to sell my phone and buy a blackberry...
Sorry guys, but no luck. The most i managed to do was dump the ROM to the SD card and play with the data. I'll have to look deeper into it to determine how to change the ESN since its quite a bit of data.
here is a link to the instructions if you're interested in giving it a try yourselves:

A Question to all GURUs regarding Radio ROMS

Dear All senior members of this forum,
i'm confused in understanding the areas taken care by updating the RADIO ROM of UNIVERSAL. can anyone just list down the benifits for updating a radio rom.
i want to make sure if one has to stay updated with the latest radio rom available of would the stock radio rom (Mine 1.09.00) stays fine forever.
looking forward,
farhaan rehmani
hi farehmani, I'm not a guru nor a senior member. But from what I understand.. updates radio ROMS are musch like the same as updated sortware. It has fixes for old problems like bad reception, low quality call audio... stuff like that.
But from what I've heard, the best radio for you also depends on your carrier/location... so just try all of 'em out. See which works best for you... you can easily change radio ROM versions anyway (no need to do hard reset, a soft reset is enough).
I would say, "if its aint broken, don't fix it"
Generally, the latest radio ROM gives you better reception, better sound quality. There are some people on this forum, who had problems with their device with respect to the latency of their devices in answering the calls. Most of them got it resolved by upgrading their device to the latest radio(ATM, the latest one is 1.15)
So, the bottomline is that if you facing problem(s) with your device regarding its phone part, the, you may consider upgrading the radio
thanx but i have another question...
Thanx for answering,
i asked this question cuz since i updated my pda with Jwrightmcps's ROM 2.02.00 WWE. i am unable to send MMS (there is no problem in settings) as it keeps the mms in the outbox with a pending sign of clock on it after uploading 95 or say 99%. secondly i was unable to sign in the MSN Live with this.
i used Radio 1.13.00. Could this be the problem. cuz i used 1.14.00 and 1.09.00 with previous versions of Win CE ROMS. they worked like a dream.
pls. advise.
farehmani.

the mms problem is not in the radio rom or Jw's rom. you just need to download the cab file with your operator settings and then you will be set.

I concur, it's not really the radio. It's either the WM6 ROM itself or you haven't got the correct settings.
i have read the wiki but still dont get it i can unrar jw newest rom just to get the radio only.but i have radio 15 from other source.how can i put it to my device?thanks

US Cellular Roms?

Does anyone know of any custom roms for US Cellular?
I have not seen any on here, at ppcgeeks.com, or ppchaven.com.
One of the other two site may be able to help you as they are more geared towards CDMA devices.
You are in luck!
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=53675
you should be able to flash a custom rom that is not particular to US cellular.
For instance, I'm on sprint, I have a bell radio and a custom bell rom, running no problem.
noob - so noob that I just popped out 3 weeks ago. How exactly (as in step by step) do I flash a rom. I have been looking and searching and googling but to no avail of instructions.
I have seen I need to unlock my phone (codes like ##3242# do not work on my USCC HTC Touch (which shows as a vogu100 on the system screen) and QPST does not even see my phone - but I do not know how to use that either.
I saw that I should use Coke 2.3 (or something like that) from ImCokeman on PPCGeeks (probably here too.
Again where do I get step-by step (in a how-to for complete imbiciles). Could anyone help me here?
All I realy want to do is turn on my GPS and possibly the wifi as my users manual says it has it and there should be a button for it in comm manager but it is also missing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What ROM & Radio do you currently have? I asume that since you posted on this thread that you are on US Cell?
UNLOCKING
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
You will have to use WINRAR to extract the files to a folder. Connect your phone to your computer with activesync (xp) or WMDC (Vista) to establish a connection. You just need to run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe & follow the instruction.
FLASHING
Once you have unlocked you phone download what ever ROM you want & extract the files to a folder using winrar. Establish a connecrtion & run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Then follow the instructions.
You can also flash from the bootloader screan power+camera+reset. If flashing a stock ROM then copy the VOGUIMG.nbh onto your micro sd card. Tehn enter the bootloader screen power+camera+reset. You ROM should start flashing automatically. If you want to us a custom ROM you will follow the same process but you will have to remname the nbh file. It will be named RUU_Signed.nbh & you will need to rename it to VOGUIMG.nbh after copying it to you micro sd card.
Look at this page.

Carrier is US Cellular (nice instructions -- for verizon - can't chance a se of instructions that brick my phone)

ROM date: 10/10/08
Radio Version: 3.42.3
Protocol Version: DCAAXAM-4350H
Hardware version: 0001

PRI version: 1.32.027
Browser Version: MSIE 6.0
Bootloader shows:
Vogu100
SPL-2.01.0000
cpld-3
I have come across the unlocking thread 13 different times but it is not specific to USCC it even says it. This is for a CDMA device, the HTC vogue aka SPRINT touch (not elf) - if it bricks my phone I am s.o.l. as they rund $500+ retail and I aint got it lying around.
Oh well - maybe I am just paranoid but I need my phone and can't take a chance that my phone becomes a paperweight just for one added feature especially when it does have an option for external GPS and those I can get for 30-50 dollars.
I wish I had more confidence in myself but well...
Thank You.
Update: Unlocked and flashed the ROM in this tread for USCC and still my GPS don't work -- this is the one thing I wanted. No help
Dette makes a really nice fully loaded ROM, fast and smooth, not really my taste mainly because I like to keep all my apps up to date and when they're cooked in you cant. I like a nice clean ROM that I can customize myself, But Dettes is awsome if you just wanna "flash and go", plus your pretty limited on your choices because of your carrier

This is for Diamond I have Vogue I did the one that was posted at the beginning of this post and although not bricked major changes made that I do not like.
I now have to see if I can find the original USCC stock ROM only thing I need is the GPS - the rom changed my contact, can not change default area code, plays music when not told to, etc.
that's what I get for trying.
No this is for the Vogue, its just the Diamond edition. I flashed it this morming to my Alltel touch. I assume its called that cause its got the M2D which makes it look like the Diamonds TF3D. Trust me

Hi all,
I've been trying to convince NFSFAN to make a US cellular version of his awesome ROM. He said he would do it if there were at least three users interested. So far I just have myself and johnficca interested. Please go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487 to view the ROM and ask NFSFAN to make a US Cellular version.
P.S. Please be polite, respectful and grateful in your posts. NFSFAN is busy and does a lot for this and other communities.
I don't understand - I have a US Cellular HTC Touch Pro2 and the GPS and WiFi are both working fine right out of the box. My guess is that you either have them turned off (although I don't remember seeing an option to turn the GPS off), or you have faulty hardware.

[Q] Telus Phone, do I need to flash different radios?

As the title says, I have the Telus Desire HD on the telus network, just rooted it and installed the leedroid rom.
Now it recommends that I flash the new radio to it, but I've seen radio's that are Telus specific out there, do I need to use one of those? If so could anyone point me in the direction of the newest one/one I should use?

I have a HTC Desire HD from telus also but have not updated te radio. I have used my handset perfectly here in Canada on all the carriers and also in Europe. IMO there is no need to flash the radio as it works just fine. Unless there is something I am missing.. someone please chime in. OP where are you located?
Well agreed, It's probably not necessary... but if it can benefit in any small amount, if i know something will work, I might as well. Works perfectly here on the west coast, but as I said,if it can improve battery life, and maybe get more coverage, I may as well.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Bumping it one last time hoping someone has an answer..
Just my personal opinion of changing the Radio, I live in Penticton BC and I run a DHD from Telus on Telus and I just recently flashed from stock radio to the recommended radio from ARHD which is 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. I went from H "1"-2 bars Yellow -101dBm 6asu / 3G "2"-3 bars Blue -108dBm 4asu and stayed mostly on 3G not by choice, to H "3"-4 bars Blue -94dBm 8asu/ 3G "4" bars Blue -87dBm 13asu. So for me the Radio change was extremely beneficial!
It depends on what firmware you are on...... custom rom support different radio RILS (not much of a difference though)... the thing to flash a RADIO find the proper RIL... that to if you are using Sense rom.... other roms like CM or MIUI do not require RIL....
Thanks for the feedback, tried it with the radio reccomended for the leedroid rom and it worked no problem, so far seems like it might draw a little more battery though and the wifi connectivity might not be as good either, but I"m going to try it for a few days.
Is there any likely downside to flashing the newest radio out (along with the RIL for it) which I think is the one reccomended br ARHD.. Is there kernel settings or anythign like that specific to the radio/RIL as part of the rom?
Don't know what Telus means (I understand it's a provider, wait before fighting...)
In China there is 2 type of DHD. CDMA and WCDMA.
If Radio HW is different, I will not be surprized that you need to flash a different radio. They can have the same piece of software for the 2 HW, but I don't know. I didn'tfind the answer to this question yet.
Of course one will work on the other network, but you can't have 3G (only GPRS/Edge). European DHD works on CDMA network... but no 3G.
Anyway, if it doesn't work, you can always flash back

Any ROM need a RIL. It's the abstraction layer between Android (the OS) and the radio (HW specific to phone). think of it as a driver on your computer.
Radio=firmware of your "device"
RIL=Driver of this "device"

[Q] Which radio is the best?

Hi!
Tried to search and search alot about this but no luck, so I'll just go ahead and ask..
I have a HTC DHD, flashed with CM10.1 4.2.2 (I think the radio is 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M). Sometimes the cellular signal is just complete and utter bulls*it. Does that have something to do with the radio or is it just network related things?
Should I test some other radio, and if so, which one? I've read something about this and it looks like I shouldn't flash RIL at all, just the radio.
And finally, it would be nice if some made a general thread for radios, which would list let's say 3 to 5 newest radios for each device and compatible roms so noobs like me wouldn't have to ask this question again
Or you could use the search function to find other threads from noobs that have asked the same question
Sent from a dream.
Like I said, didn't find the info I wanted by searching the forums..
But here's some info for DHD users who are facing similar questions:
As told in the first post, I have CM 10.1 4.2.2 installed to my phone. The old radio was 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M. I updated the radio to version 12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M presented here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996630
Conclusion after first 24 hours:
+ Better battery life (+25% at the moment)
+ Better signal (both wlan and cellular)
+ Overall performance (No idea how the radio affects this, but the whole phone seems lag-free now)
- None so far
And as far as I can tell, you can update the radio to your phone, no matter where you're located (Operator specific phones may not work if tried). AND remember, if you have a CM installed, DON'T even try to install the RIL, just the radio.
I hope someone uses this information somewhere to provide forum users some answers
