Anyone else have this problem....Tilt 2, while charging and keyboard is slid open, the power button doesn't work to power off the phone.
If you haven't personally experienced this could you try it and see what happens for you.
No problems here. Power button works as expected regardless of if it's being charged or if keyboard is out.
Same issue...not a big deal for me, but my power button does not turn off the screen with the keyboard open whether the screen is locked. The device is connected to a PC to charge. and I'm using the stock AT&T Rom.
The power switch doesn't turn off screen or power off device while keyboard is open, plugged into charger or not. How is that a problem? Just close it then turn if off.

Well it does turn it off on the tmob (US) version of the TP2, so it's not completely out of left field...just becasue you don't have any scenairos where it's undesirable to close the keyboard before shutting off the screen, don't assume that nobody else does either

So I got it to boot up. You can do this by holding the power button down while continuously unplugging and replugging in a power adapter (or usb cable). You may spend 2 or 3 minutes unplugging and replugging it in (you need to do this rapidly) but eventually you'll be greeted with the samsung boot screen. If it makes it to the battery display screen you're not unplugging and replugging in quickly enough.
Hopefully o that anyone else who encounters this problem can potentially use their phone in a pinch or recover data off one with a broken power button. My power button is definitely busted and I'll need to get it repaired by sprint unfortunately.
Thanks!

Did you try putting it into download mode? may need to ODIN back to stock.
Ok im new to this forum, as i just ditched my evo shift and picked up and epic, but you might try booting to another menu. Try unplugging it and holding the 1 key on the keyboard then press the power key. If that does nothing then id have to guess ur actual power button is broken. You could also try pulling the battery witih it unplugged for like 5 minutes then put it back in and hold the power button for like 20 seconds and letting it go.
Edit: He beat me to it
It appears the actual power button is broken, neither of those solutions worked. Is there any other way to force it to power up without use of the power button?

Thank you soo much! I have a messed up Epic that has to be sent back to Sprint but I had to get my work information off of it or I'd be in it deep. Your trick worked perfectly!!
I recently installed the newest update for my HTC ONE. My phone is not rooted nor running a custom ROM. It was running well with the newest update for about a day, I turned it off one night after updating it and now it will no longer turn on. Whenever I press the power button the back and home button flash. Any clue to what's happening? The phone is charging and it shows me the charging screen. e

I should have also said that when I press the power button I can get the battery charging display on the scree to turn on and off. So I'm not sure if the power button is the issue.

Are you holding it long enough?
Try holding volume down and power for like 20-30 seconds.
You call HTC support? Have you ever s-off our unlock the bootloader?

I believe that there is battery protection circuitry that will not allow you to turn on the phone until it's charged. Leave it on the charger for a few hours, up to 24, and try again.

Thanks everyone. Once the battery hit 70% it turned on.
I mean, I had the tablet on my desk with battery, more than 20%, and when I wanted to use it it was apparently off, it took me 5 min for starting, pressing the off button and then the volume. Has anyone ever been happen the same thing ? It was bought on March 2014, the last 4.2.2, and it has not given me any problems so far, without rooting. Thank you
Problem when charging
I recently installed the firmware 4.4.2 from Canada and I noticed when I charge the tablet can not turn off the tablet, I mean, if I charge the table on and turn off after few seconds the tablet turns on again, this happens to any one else? :silly:

Listen I have no real answer as about what happen. But I can say this for sure. We can not take the battery out. So there is a feature to do a software battery rest.
Just like Win7, Hold the Power Button for about 5 second and It will mimic a Battery disconnect, Do not do it longer than 10 seconds is a waits of time. If you are not sure you press it correctly, release it and try again but this time look at the button.
Now here is an issue. Depending where you are Holding JUST the Power button can behave differently.
A) Holding Power button forever, starting from Home Screen
..1)Turn your TAB3 ON and swipe to be in Home screen.
..2) Lets Press Power while holding, NO Release, so that wee can see what it does.
..3) You will see it will Power OFF, Then Restart. Nothing more Happen, just wait for ever on swipe screen.
B)Holding Power button forever, starting from POWER OFF
..1) Now use the normal procedure to turn your Tab3 OFF. Let it alone. at least a minute to make sure is OFF. Just for test purpose.
..2) Lets Press Power while holding, NO Release, so that wee can see what it does.
..3) You will see it Turn On, see the Samsung Logo and Turn OFF. Black Screen for ever will follow.
So as you see, it is possible you had your table OFF when you where continuously pressing the button!. Normal Behavior.
As for Why when Off, I do not know but I seen my table freeze from time to time and and even go off.

Yes It does, charging while device is OFF. Some time it does not like to respond. In fact there are claims that 4.4.2 does not charge while off. If you have a kernel modified the you will see the BIGG Battery symbol. But still it is hard to respond.
I don't know if it is hw of sw problem is weird

Hi, was wondering if anyone else has/had similar issues?
Got the Galaxy Tab S today and was spending time setting it up. Connected to the PC and charge was at about 57%. Suddenly the window displaying tablet contents on the PC disappeared and the screen went black.
The power button didn't turn the screen back on. I held it down, thinking that it required a hard reset but nothing happened. I disconnected the tablet from my pc and went to use it's dedicated charger. The battery icon came up, stating it was 57% charge, and shortly after the LED light on the back of the tablet started flashing rapidly. I quickly took out the cable.
I've tried holding down the home key, volume down, and power button and nothing happens. I then tried the same and having a finger on the screen. Then I repeated the process again with the cable connected to the charger, and then computer.
No matter what I try, the device won't turn on and the LED keeps flashing repeatedly when connected with usb charging cable. I also tried using another cable.
I'm thinking of phoning up where I got it from tomorrow and asking for a replacement, unless there's something I'm missing here?
Any thoughts would be great, thanks.
My guess would be, you are not pressing the buttons correctly.

That doesn't work either. The only response I get from the tablet is by plugging in the charging cable and then it goes on to display an epileptic inducing light show with the LED constantly flashing on and off

Never seen this problem before. Could be a bad partition making it not boot. Replacement may be your answer as its better to get a new one and be safe.

I've used various tablets before and never encountered any of them not booting at all. The led flashing business is very weird. I'll phone up the store I got it from and ask if I can get a replacement.
Thanks for the responses
Hi,
I've only had my Samsung Galaxy Tab S for a few weeks. Whilst on a plane the battery went to 0%.. no problem I thought as I'd simply charge it when I got to a power source.
However, when plugged in, nothing happens. No LED light, nothing on the screen. I've plugged it into a wall socket and via USB into a PC. I have held down the power button, home and volume down for a period of time, as well as just the power button and volume down.
Has my tablet gone kaput?
Cheers,
Titanium
I'd just let it charge for a while. It'll take a bit before it comes back to life if it was completely drained.
If you still don't get any response hold POWER + VOL DOWN.

Yeah, tried to hold it down. No LED lights and nothing shows on the tablet. It's as if it's just dead.

There are no leds.
I know someone else had the same problem. They used a different charger and it worked.
Try that first.

I had this problem.
You'll have to pry off the back cover, remove the wire that connects the battery to the motherboard. (A battery pull, basically).
Keep it off for 30 seconds. Then plug back in.
Use ifixit for details about opening. Feel free to ask for more help.
Try this one.
1) connect the tab to PC
2) press Home, Vol Down and Power simultaneously up to a screen appears;
3) press Vol Down to cancel and reboot the tablet.
John.
Now there are a few things you can try...
First check your charging port for any dust or any foreign particle. There has to be a small gap between the base of the charging port, and the small slab above it. Carefully, using a board pin, try and push that slab a bit up, don't apply too much pressure, just enough to make it move slightly!
This can happen sometimes if you drop your phone.
Next, make sure your charger, and the USB cable are working fine.
Also tell me if you have any Xposed module for your battery installed on your phone!

Thanks so much for that.
This morning, I plugged my tablet in to AC charge before leaving for the day -- battery was at ~30% and all was well. This evening, I came home and the tab was stuck at a weird Samsung logo -- not the normal boot with colored ovals, but the logo surrounded by a moving star field, never seen before, and could not get the tab to respond, turn off, do anything. Tried many wacky suggestions found on the intertubes to stop/start it, including holding power plus touching the screen for > 30 seconds, none of which worked. Never would have thought your suggestion for download mode would work, but it did on the very first try.
I'd like to know how the tab got into that state, and what that star field logo is about. But at least it's working again, for now.
Thank you.
That's the normal lollipop boot screen.
