Has anyone been able to overclock the TP2? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I just want it to run at 600mhz+ for speed.
I don't mind the use of the battery for I have it on the charger most of the day.
Thanks!

Got mine to 1ghz but it burnted up.

OH NO!!!! That sucks. What program were you using to overclock?

I think it was called superduperspeedycpuclocker. Lol.

To the OP. I doubt that you will notice the jump from stock 528 to 600mhz anyway.
Isn't it time to close this thread???

Yeah, awhile back no2chem figured out how to get the MSM7xxx running at 768MHz, but it's incredibly unstable and most devices immediately restart or freeze, or it won't work at all. If you really want to try it out, check out this link, and while you're at it, I would also read this, this, this, and this.

Help me revert to a pre-froyo rom

Hey guys. i've had it with Froyo. i have a list of complaints, but that kind of post has been done too many times.
basically i'm wondering how to "downgrade" back to a 2.1 rom. i started with OMJ's 2.1 "eclair" rom and now i'm running his 2.2 froyoized rom. i'd like to revert back to the latter. can someone clue me in on how best to accomplish this?
thanks!
I should expect it to be as simple as clearing data/cache/davlik and flashing the rom you want to use.
Don't think you can but I'm not 100% sure Idk what problems ur having but 2.2. Has been a beast for me

That's what I assumed. i just wanted to make sure before i screw something up.
@SporkMan, basically it seems slower, the battery life is awful and recently, i've noticed the phone itself is HOTTER. i carry it in a holster on my belt and this morning(while in court) i had it on airplane mode without GPS, wifi, etc on and it went from 85% battery to 42% batter in less then two hours and was hotter then it gets when i charge it off the wall adapter. i've NEVER gotten that bad of battery life. not even before i rooted it. thats just unacceptable.
plus, i haven't seen the talked-about speed gains in the applications, so it doesn't really provide me with anything new(correction, there is one thing i absolutely LOVE and that is the mass update in the Market. that just rules!)

you'll probably get a bunch of suggested roms to try, but my vote goes to BakedSnack and his Bkaed1 kernel. Hero tweaks the kernels to give killer battery - I've been raving about it ever since I switched over. I used to have to struggle to get over 13 hours battery - now I get over 20, without setcpu. You should nand and try it. If you don't like it, you can always nand back.

right! forgot he fixed that when he hit version 4 - I stopped using his kernel around 3.7ish when i went with Baked1. Sorry for the mis-info!
I would have to agree with the others. I use Fresh 3.1.0.1 and run Netarchy's 4.0.2 kernel, and my phone has never been faster, smoother, nor have I ever had better battery life as I do now. I took my phone off of the charger at 8:00 AM today, surfed the net, answered a few phone calls, did emails and messages for a total screen on time of about two hours so far. I also did 15 minutes of FM radio, and half hour of streaming Pandora on the way to work, and my battery is at 76% at 2:00 PM.
The other thing you might consider is that, it wouldn't surprise me if in a few months, aps compatible with the evo running 2.1 won't even show up for you in the market any more. I may be wrong, but something to consider.

Thanks! the part i'm MOST confused about is when i download the latest Baked Snack rom from that thread in development i only get a 318kb file. every other rom i've downloaded has been 125mb +. i don't really know what thats about
If you're talking about 1.2.5, the reason its so small is because its not a Rom. Check my link again. You have to wipe and flash 1.2 first, then 1.2.5 over that without wiping, unless you want the themed version (which I highly recommend) in which case you wipe, flash 1.2, then 1.2 themed without wiping, then 1.2.5 themed without wiping. It sounds like more of a pita than it is, and its worth it in the end.

Continuum Lagfix

While poking and prodding around I found this one click ex2 lagfix for the I9000 and also the Fascinate.. I tried it and it works for our Continuum's also.
Before Lagfix
Quadrant - 1028
After Lagfix
Quadrant - 1770
Antutu Benchmark - 3140
I did not have a chance to test Antutu before I did the lagfix.
Either way here is the link to the file. Make sure you have root, Sammy USB Drivers, ADB, and the latest version of Busybox installed. Turn on USB Debugging and plug your phone into your computer. Unzip the file and double click on 'Lagfixme.bat'.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK I AM NOT LIABLE!

Glad it's almost 5:00pm. My phone is totally hosed after running this. Won't boot at all. Hangs for a long time at "Verizon Wireless" bootanimation then goes to black screen. Vibrating incessantly as if it's constantly fc'ing something. I figure I should be able to flash from Odin and start fresh.
Peace,
Ray
EDIT: Flashed pastor's DL17 and I still have nothing. I may have a brick on my hands...

Okay EXT2 is scary, how about EXT4?
You can't afford for your things to get corrupted? Weirdo. Real world performance between EXT4 and EXT2 is barely noticeable if at all, for the everyman this is probably your best bet.

As for the memory issues, the default for the Continuum is much higher than many of the other phones. I put together a little "How To" specifically for the Continuum. Just be careful, because I have seen issues with background apps, that I want to keep running, closed by Android. You really have to play with the numbers to see what works best for you. If anyone wants help with this, let me know.

It's in my OP here: FIXED! - Froyo ROM "closing" the background apps.
Keep in mind YMMV, I would adjust the settings using AMM (Auto Memory Manager) from the market. Because of the aforementioned problems (yes zipalign helped a little bit), and all the friggin' apps I installed and use, I have actually gone back to the default memory settings. I'll start playing with them again starting this weekend. As a System Administrator, I just can't leave well enough alone... [Q] brightness of LED for menu/home/return/search

Also, is there a way to lock them from use when playing games?? My 5 year old daughter gets really pissed when she's trying play fruit ninja and hits the home or return buttons .. lol.

all apps run smoothly on my phone. running bullet kernal w/ juggernaut and use setcpu to performance whenever i'm gaming. burns through the battery, but hell, what game doesn't on a mobile phone
i do find at times my phone starts to run a little choppy, even with everything jacked up it scores pretty low on quadrant. if that's the case, i just reboot and it's back to running sexy fun time.

[Q] Kernel - phone problem ?

Hy guys I have seen on a noob guide that I can see my phone cpu "stats".
This tells me is my phone a powerfull machine or a bad brick.
So I have installed the faux kernel and with root explorer I came to this t3_variant
/sys/kernel/debug/t3_variant
If your cpu_process_id=
"0"- Sorry, but your in for a world of hurt. I'd recommend only trying out his mainline edition, nothing else.
"1"- Well, you''ll do just fine, but it still sorta shaky. Don't think about overclocking though, unless you're on a beta or VF version
"2"- Knock yourself Out! ;p
"3"- Lock that phone in Fort Knox and, if you see faux lurking around your house, then just run . Jokes aside, your phone can do ANYTHING.

This is a quote from a Noob Guide - here.
Mine cpu_process_id=0. Does this mean I bought 4500kn (597.32€ - Yes that's the price of HOX in Croatia) brick?
I have problems with battery he shuts down sometimes more like often, is he really that bad and I am angry right now cause I think I bought bad and expensive phone?!
If you need more info I will be glad to post just someone help me please.
LOL, those cpu variants are to be ignored. They are for hard core overclockers.
It has nothing to do with battery life and you do not own a phone shaped brick. I paid the same amount for my HOX.
Well can you tell me why does he act strange all the time. He just shuts down but he doesn't do that when he is on charger. I think I have some serious power issue. I'will give you all logs you ask and all screenshots just help please.
You might want to try another kernel and do a clean reflash of rom.
Give me the kernel reboot log from /proc/last_kmsg.
No need I think I solved the problem. I have now just moved the governor to interactive witch was default "ondemand". He didn't went off for like 6 hours witch is a record and battery is still 50% can't believe. I know I am noob sry for that

Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Overclocking this phone any more than stock is unnecessary and will make it heat up that much more and faster. Hence why there isn't one at all.
The only kernel we have for stock, and it goes to 1.8 is this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38910863
If you read that thread, you'll find that this is as high as we can get. And its an awesome kernel!
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I've always been a fan of OCing, but with quad-core processors, it just isn't neccesary anymore. OCing was originally a viable option because the device wasn't very fast; lags and other issues occurred because the device was trying to do things that the processor had trouble keeping up with. This is no longer the case; everybody has a quad-core device these days, it seems. There is more than enough power and speed to go around now, and OCing just puts unneccesary stress on the device. My penny and a half, for what its worth.

For now at least. Who knows what the future will bring.
Evolutionmod is working on the Sprint version, and Mysteryemotionz is working the ATT version. The 2 are working together to give us all the benefits they can.
If I remember right, it's a heat and stability issue as to why we can't go any higher.
But then as BMP777 said...theres really no need for us to OC anymore. Other than bragging rights.

I totally understand about the heat issue. I hate it when it gets overheated and shuts down for an undetermined amount of time. Is there a remedy for that. I think it would be better if the phone didn't have that glass on the back, but thats just my opinion. I'm thinking about taking it off an replacing it with something else. I saw a thin piece of carbon fiber sheet that might work and look cool as hell.
