Hi,
Just bought a hero a month ago. Rooted it and loaded a custom ROM today (MoDaCo). Everything went off without a hitch. I've searched a few websites looking for a ROM for android 2.0 (still on 1.5) but I can't seem to find it. Could someone help ?
do you need sense?

thanks for the fast reply. I have two other easy questions....
1) if I want to go back to the stock ROM that came with the phone in the box, how do I ?
2) if I want to load another ROM, do I have to use flashrec and make a backup of this one ? or do I just save the new ROM to SD and load it ?
thanks again
1. so far i know you can install a RUU update(download a rom from the htc site) and install it
2. no boot in recovery mode(shutdown your phone, press home + start your phone )
and then flash a zip file(first copy the .zip file to you sdcard root)
thanks again. i'll give that a try.
do you recommend the one by lox and behnaam, or the one from RaiderX303 ?
I was going to try Kagudroid. I've got a MoDaCo custom rom running now.....do I need to use NANDroid ?
do a nandroid be safe then sorry =)
You can also try my rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619262
funny you say that exit, its in the middle of loading right now
Exit93 rom is not bad but i still not use to it as i still prefer 1.5. wonder how when the release of official eclair...

Im creating a folder on my computer of Roms and so forth that I use during root . For in the event that I get a new phone or something happens to the phone I have everything handy to get back to where I am now, an archives of sorts . In the folder I saved Unrevoked , Updated Radios , Rom im currently running now (Baked Snack 1.7) as well as my nadroid back up of 2.2 Froyo before I flashed the new rom .
First question is to confirm what I believe what I found and if it is correct . Im looking for a rooted 2.2 Froyo Rom and Kernal . Essentially the day it rolled out only in rooted form . In my searches I found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743352&highlight=Froyo+2.2+rom
From reading the thread I believe this is the correct rom , just looking for confirmation .
Which leads me to my next question . Does this rom listed above come with the same Kernel my phone had at the time it got the 2.2 Froyo update ? Mind you I wasnt rooted at that time but looking to keep root .
Next question , I have also got the urge to try out Fresh's rom which Im going to assume (always gets me in trouble) it comes with a kernel as well . If I flash Fresh's rom/kernel to my phone it will overwrite the current rom and Kernel installed on my phone (Im thinking yes) and Im good to go .
Last question . I used unrevoked 3.21 to root my phone . During the root process it installed Clockworkmod recovery . In the opinion of most on here should I stick with Clockworkmod recovery or should I install Amon Ra Recovery ? I only ask mainly due to the fact from what I have read about Amon Ra installs I see using consoles (no prior experience) . Can I just flash it and I havent found the files yet or does it need to be installed using a console from my computer ? I appologize ahead of time if I dont get the terms correct . Still absorbing alot and the braincells sometimes get warm LOL
Hey dude....
You answered your first question correctly. That's the stock ROM and it's rooted. Cha-ching!
Second question - yes. That ROM comes with the stock kernel. It was Netarchy's intention to release that ROM for people who wanted just a rooted yet stock ROM.
Third question - Fresh EVO is AWESOME. I highly recommend you give it a shot. To answer your question, it actually comes with HTC's kernel. You were also correct in your thinking that if you flash a ROM it will overwrite whatever kernel you have now with the one that came with the ROM. You're getting the hang of this stuff
Last question - I highly recommend Amon's RA Recovery. Why? Simple. I haven't had any problems with it. 2 things to watch out for though. 1, you can only flash files that are sitting on the root of your SD card so keep that in mind. 2, (and this isn't an issue with RA's newest version, 1.8.x.x, but I want you to be aware of it just in case) RA Recovery can only flash signed packages. Again, this is only an issue if you are using any version of RA Recovery before the current 1.8.x.x version. The easiest way to install it is to open up the ROM Manager app then scroll to the bottom and click the button that reads "Flash Alternate Recovery." After a few seconds RA Recovery will have been flashed onto your phone and you can then reboot into it. No need for a computer at all to get RA onto your phone.
Give that a shot. Good luck.

Hi Albalaji,
In answer to your question:
You have two options.
If you are installing a newer version of the same ROM (i.e. going from Android RevolutionHD 12.0.09 to Android RevolutionHD 12.0.13), I would think it fine to just place the new ROM zip file on your device, and using ClockworkMod Recovery, install-from-zip over the top of your current ROM. You can "format Data" in between to be safe.
Reason is, the new ROM will most likely alter the exact same files and keep things in a similar file structure.
However, if you're installing a completely different ROM, e.g. going from Android RevolutionHD to LeeDroid, I would recommend reverting back to Stock PD98IMG.zip. Safer this way, in case there is conflicts. You won't have to redo the Visionary, Radio S-Off or Eng S-Off processes though - once these are done, they are done for good.
Hope this helps!!
thanks alot ..
that What i meant..
Pls for Second paragraph.. if i have different Rom,Can u explain to me all steps if u don't mind
and again thanks ..

Woah man, there is absolutely no advantage in returning to stock inbetween roms, its just a waste of time, all you need is to do a full wipe.....

Copy the new rom to the root of your sd card, put the card in your phone and boot into recovery, go to the mounts and storage menu and wipe every partition apart from.sd card, go back, go to install .zip from sd card, choose your new rom and flash it

you mean, including boot and sd-ext. I never wiped these partitions...
and by the way, i can see a point in flash the stock again, cause somehow is the only way to be sure that everything was formated, you get unroot, stock splash image etc...
Hi all,
Im an experienced WM developer and switching to Android as a user,
I Got I9003 and working very fine with me, my device is Arabic enabled,
I have flashed my mobile more than 10 times( using I9003JPKE1_OJPKC2_JXKA4 and Odin) because of trying to get Vanilla Unlock and the nice theme here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112991&page=8
my Questions are:
1.what is the best backup software that restore everything and settings by itself(astro Sux)
2.how to get the ClockWorkMod for my device instead of the stupid glass lock, I followed the instructions
and my device stuck on the samsung screen and keep restarting(what should I do in this case? i tried everything just flashing works and :S)
3. what to do exactly to get theme Ultimate-Bule-tripin in my version?
4. what else i should know
my device info:
2.2.1
kernel [email protected] #1
build: FROYO.JPKE1
Baseband:I9003JXKA4
thanks all in advance.
1. Titanium Backup
Others i dont know If CF-Root doesnt work, no idea (=
thanks man, will the free version do it for me or must be pro?
The Titanium free version hasn't mega-useful Batch operations. So if you have many apps to backup, it'll be incredible long story to backup them one-by-one on free version. So, get Full version, or try MyBackup Pro app, or use a nandroid backup using ClockWorkMod. Btw, CWM isn't a replacement for lockscreen, it's recovery mode mod allowing to do some useful operations (such as backup, wipe caches e.g. etc.)
Or you can use Google and get the full version, i'm not sure if i can give you any link, so i wont, but if you know how to use google you can find it without a problem
Hint: mobilism
#2 question...download ROM manager and select flash clockwork recovery, then it should give you an option to choose your device. Download CWMod for your phone. You should now have latest clockwork.

my Questions are:
1.what is the best backup software that restore everything and settings by itself(astro Sux).
Ans: I think Titanium Backup will do the work most. Recommend that only restore APK without data as you may face force close in some apps. Beware that it does not backup APN setting. Please use APN Back&Restore in case APN is total wipe out. U can use CWM backup through recovery mode and restore. Beware sometime CWM can get corrupted and data restore will have some force close after reboot
2.how to get the ClockWorkMod for my device instead of the stupid glass lock, I followed the instructions
and my device stuck on the samsung screen and keep restarting(what should I do in this case? i tried everything just flashing works and :S)
Ans: Glass lock has nothing to do with CWM. It is the laucher bug issue. Sometime is best to install 2 or more laucher in your rom. Just flash another laucher through ODIN will work.
3. what to do exactly to get theme Ultimate-Bule-tripin in my version?
Ans: Feedback the bug you are having to the theme developer. They should know how to fix it. Is thier duty to provide solution.
4. what else i should know
Ans: You may find that not all products suite you and not all product developed is perfect. Keep flashing for the right one, learn from mistake, pick-up the error and google your problem for solution. Standby your spare phone in case your phone is totally knock down and cannot be restart.
cheer
As a very good FREE backup tool I'm using My Backup Root (from the market). You need to have your phone rooted but it works very nice.
Thanks a lot guys, you helped me well, I mentioned the CWM because to install the update.zip which requires CWM to install because of the signature, I flashed the CWM several times with different versions but same results on startup I really like the Ultimate-Bule-tripin with the vanilla lock and i'll sell the phone if i couldnt get it

I have read the thread,
1) Did you meet the requirement??
Requirements:
-XXKB3 FW
-Deodexed framework is mandatory
2) Have you try install zip from sd card with CWM recovery? CWM provide install zip from sd card, you can explore where have you save the file and execute it. You does not need to rename the file to update.zip.
the problem is i cant install the CWM to my device, every time i install it via odin the device does not start and then i have to flash it, how can i find a version compatible with my device firmware ver?
my device info are :2.2.1
kernel [email protected] #1
build: FROYO.JPKE1
Baseband:I9003JXKA4
so which FW i am????
and i cant see any KB3( btw pleaaaaase tell me which section must have this code????)
Please provide the link to flash CWM for your I9003. I need to look at it.
Update: CWM only work for I9000, there are developer trying to get CWM working on the I9003 device.
I guess whithin 2-3 week time, CWM should be available for your device.

thanks in forward, your help appreciated
can u please tell me which FW i have? and which section is supposed to have KB3(KBX)????
ps:my device must have Arabic lang.
You are having the latest ASIAN Froyo Firmware. Your device should be compatible.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647.
CWM does not work for your device for now. To solve your problem, try to download Root Explorer Pro version from market (Need to buy). Then you can copy the downloaded theme file into your system.
By the way, i'm from SGS I9000 device. Not from I9003. There might be some different to replace file directory.
Good Luck.
Thank Button, please.
can u please just give me the brief steps to install the theme using the root explorer?
does it need more than rooted device or must be deodexed??
btw i always thank but now it gives me
Sorry, you are limited to five thanks per day
Thanks man, i got it done, i have deodexed my I9003 from this Thread
and then managed to copy the vanilla lock apks via ADB shell, now i can use my Android
Hi
I have purchased a HTC Desire HD and it is running MoDaCo Custom Rom r3
Can I install "Android Revolution HD™ 5.2.5" without downgrading?
The software number is 1.72.405.3
Kernel - 2.6.32.21- g3d0aaff
Thanks in advance
yes,you can...through recovery
Hi Mate
Thanks for the reply
I have never rooted a phone so can you please explain what you mean by recovery?
Is it a case of downloading the zip file and transferring this over to the SD card then booting the phone into recovery mode via vol+power button and selecting an option in there?

Yes. Do a backup (nandroid) in recovery and do a complete whipe and then flash the new ROM you want. Be sure to read all the steps in the ROM install guide.
You need to root your device in order to perform activity or processes that otherwise cannot be done. It basically means, sort of like "hacking" the device so that you can do anything with it. (eg modifying system data)
You have to downgrade your device to 1.32xxxxx so that you can use Visionary app to root your device. Here is your guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964996
You must have S-OFF first to install recovery image.
Cheers.
I thought if it already had a custom rom it would be rooted already?
See if you have an app caled rom manager as you should be able to go through that.
Have a look in mikes thread, read everything!
google search etc... I did 4-5 hours reading before fiddling to make sure I understood what I was doing and in which order.
I think superstick1 misread the OP. Phone already has a custom ROM as stated by the OP.
Thanks for the replys, the is already rooted so I have placed the image on my SD card and installed it that way, i thought id messed up as the HTC white screen on boot stayed that way for a few minutes before giving me the setup.
Pleased with it, now hoping to customise it, any add ons recommended?
Cheers
Hi to all, I am new into this and need some help
I admit it, I am a noob
So, this is my phone state.
I have rooted my HTC Desire with Revolutionary and I have ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0. on it. I had official Gingerbeard update before I rooted my phone.
My problem is that I can't install any roms. The only one that works is CyanogenMod 7, and I wish to use other rom. I can't install official roms from my computer too, because of custom is currently installed (I think that is the reason).
Everything looks good when I try to flash roms. Wiping cash & factory reset is going well, then I select install .zip from SD, that goes well too. I wait some time and it says that flashing was successful.
Problem starts when the phone should load rom. It goes up to HTC animation, and then the animation is constantly repeating, and it won't load rom. I made a huge mistake when I forgot to make Gingerbeard nandroid backup, and now the only thing I can run is CyanogenMod.
Any help is welcome
