Backup rebuild after phone replacement fails! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
I sent in my XDA Nova (HTC elf) for warranty replacement
and got it back with changed mainboard, so with changed IMEI no.
Now, when I tried to recover it via Spite Backup, it seems to work, but it says my password is incorrect. I think its somehow encoded with the IMEI no.
Does anyone know if I can change the backupfile, so there is no password required??
Thanks very much

Seems my IMEI changed while flashing. Can I restore my old IMEI somehow?

Hey all. Got a brand new Note 3 about a week and a half ago from a T-Mobile store and it stopped connecting to network last week. I've been having a back and forth with T-Mobile and I was told that my IMEI was blocked and I was told to exchange the device. I found out today that the IMEI on the phone does not match the IMEI on the box. Seems this IMEI was blocked for non payment. Can the IMEI change from flashing roms? It's it possible to restore it somehow?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Ok short answer, NO.
It is not possible for a rom flash to change an imei. The rom is on a completely different partition. There is a lot more work involved in changing that and a simple flash would never be able to accomplish it.
if your imei on the phone doesnt match what is on the back of the phone then you need to take it back.

Where did you buy it from?
I highly recommend you do as the carrier suggests. Take the time to go visit them and do things "above board".

Logic Board Replaced/Problems with SIM Card

Hi everyone, not long ago I posted this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/help/bootloop-enters-recovery-stock-enters-t3336838 where I had some issues with the EMMC chip. Today I bought a second hand logic board, my note 2 model is GT N7100 International Version, and so is the logic board that I bought, I replaced the logic board and the phone booted, everything is working fine, wifi, camera, sound, etc. The only thing it is not working is the sim card. I tested 3 different sim card carriers, it recognizes 2 of them. But I'm not able to make any phone calls or send SMSs. When I pull down the notification panel it says the name of the carrier on the bottom, with the other carrier it says "Insert SIM Card".
The phone is running jellybean 4.1.2. rooted with stock recovery. No efs backup.
It could be some problem with the logic board replacement? I mean everything is working fine but the sim card.
The previous owners just told me that he had an generic IMEI, and he could make calls without any problem(he was selling the logic board because the screen broke up). Do I need to look for a guide to replace efs folder or something?
thanks to all in advanced!
Generic imei? Sounds like the seller changed the original imei to something that would work with the seller's carrier and not your carrier.
I can think of no valid reason to change a phone's original imei unless the original imei had been blacklisted. You could try restoring the logic board's original imei.
yes, that's the same thing I think of, phone is blacklisted and seller sold it on parts. You can try to change imei to some old phone, that you own.
Try to update to stock kitkat

Yes, what he is telling me is that he bought the phone in Colombia, so in order to the phone work here in Venezuela he had change the imei for a generic one. That's what he told me. I did not know any of this things until I did a research on Google and I read several methods to solve this problem. But the thing, correct me if I'm wrong, generics imei start with 0049.... And the imei that is on the phone does not Stat with 0049. It shows other number and in the end shows /01, I've never seen that before.
The phone is rooted, I was triying to update it but when I plugged into the computer it is not recognize by it. I use Windows 10, and when I plugged in the phone it sounds both the phone and the computer, but there is no sign of the phone in the computer. I wanted to flash a custom recovery so I can make a backup of the efs folder just in case.
So, I can replace my old imei, (the one that is on the bad logicboard) on this new-second handed logic board?
I think that the original imei won't work here since the phone is from Colombia.
I would like to know if there could be a solution. Because I've done some research on Google, and I've seen soooo many tutorials and every single one is different. And since I don't know exactly what is wrong with the phone I'm afraid to do something wrong and mess up the logicboard.
I think the problem is due to the altered imei. The imei is suppose to match the phone and manufacturer.
Im really sorry for your trouble and you may post on xda for help and assistance but changing IMEI number is illegal and can't be discussed on xda I'm afraid. The fact the seller told you he changed the IMEI number to a generic one sounds like it could have been stolen, if you have the original efs folder you may be able to restore that

Well If you would have a backup of efs yes... Which you can't have until you have twrp or similar installed.. So idk no way to recover it without a backup. Is the phone still booting? What is working what not? Do you really mean the imei or "imei sv"?
You wrote you send LG the imei? You have not go through the official unlock page by LG? The imei was taken from the sticker behind the battery? Or from within a booted rom?

I'm having same thing, although it happens when I try to install a custom rom. Imei gets wiped. Even though i have a backup of the original efs in twrp, restoring it makes no difference.
Sometimes when i try to restore the original non rooted system including backed up efs i still have a problem with no mobile signal and blank imei. Restoring efs from a different backup fixes it for some reason. Apart from using non rooted non custom Rom i basically can't get mobile signal.
Any ideas?

Note 7 null IMEI, need to write it back. Donation for sure.

Hello dear XDA users!
First of all I would like to give offer to one that will solve my problem, I will send him 30 EUR directly to his PayPal account.
I am Note 7 Lover as I am collector of these phones.
I have many succesful Note 7 phones recovered from death updates which were fully discharged.
But I did great mistake which I can´t live with.
I had one Note 7 , fully functioning with all connectivities. I managed to install HydraRom and Hydrakernel there on my own as I did it many times before. I am an idiot I didn´t make backup of the system and mainy EFS in working state.
I broke display a little on my primary Note 7 so I needed to recover my TWRP backup on another phone but I accidentally checked restore also EFS partion from my previous phone.
So the phone just turned on and No service, Baseband unknown. My great mistake.
Tried lots of original ROM restore, reflashing HydraRom or radios/kernels, nothing works.
I read a lot about what i did, I have no backup of EFS partion from the one that has problem. I have only Samsung Box with only IMEI written on it, back cover is changed so there is no IMEI or S/N.
I googled a lot, tried all the programs (Z3x, Chimera, Octopus) but none of them has capability to write IMEI directly to the this N930F phone.
I finally found a software called SAMFIX V1.3 and after clicking Baseband in the HydraRom phone menu is visible
The phone is able to look for carriers (but only one) but had NULL IMEI.
Wifi and Bluetooth works well, but there is no IMEI when i dial *#06# and imei is 0000000000. And Bonus is that the phone acts as Dual SIM, through it is only N930F single SIM. So the phone menu in HydraRom after dialing says 0000 for both IMEIs.
I tried to write IMEI with software IMEI changer via xposed, but it "writes" it only for the system instance.
Phone is still unable to find my carrier of connect to one.
When i tried to see device info with all softwares it says:
PDA Version: N930FXXU2BPJ8
Baseband Version: N930FXXU2BPI5
CSC Version: N930FOXM2BPI5
Please help me to restore EFS somehow, or at least to succesfully write IMEI and S/N (which i don´t really have) to phone and can connect to my network as before my idiosm I did with restoring ROM from "same" but different device.
Who will help me will get 30EUR from me (student) on his PayPal.
Did you tried stock firmware? If not flash N930FXXU3BPL2, and do wipe. https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/help/n930fxxu3bpl2-t3520988/page2
Hello!
I tried flashing oficial firmware, didn´t solve my problem, or something called COMBINATION Factory binary but this failed.
Radio and baseband is all OK, I have two other phones exactly with this firmwares and versions and they work all OK.
Problem is with EFS and CERT, before wrongly restoring this partion with TWRP backup from another NOTE 7 SM-N930F the phone worked all OK.
I managed to do with many softwares to write IMEI and S/N and it succeeded!
It is written in CERT file and not only with some IMEI changer for system run instance. It is readable via ADB.
Phone can unlock the SIM card but is unable to load carriers.
I read a lot of this problem and I compared CERT file of a backuped one and CERT on the restored one after my IMEI repair.
The CERT on the recovered one has it´s own IMEI now but has same ImeiSign,PubKey,PubKeySign as the backuped one from what I made restoration with TWRP.
So these codes are OK for the IMEI and S/N on the working one but they are inconert for the not working one because of encrypting.
I tried to flash CERT from the working one to bricked one but this does not work because of some CPID encrypting or so.
Have you please any solution to
1. Fully restore working EFS on the phone to work as before?
2. Try to make calculation for the right ImeiSign,PubKey,PubKeySign for that IMEI?
i have Samsung note 7 n930f

write imei on brand new motherboard

hi,
a few months ago my note2 stop working.
Neither switch on nor recovery mode.It was dead. A couple of weeks before i flash the cyanogen mod firmware and everything worked perfectly. At that moment i did a backup of efs and every part of the old original firmware. I try to recover but the only solution i found eas to buy a brand new motherboard from england. It arrived eithout imei. I try to reflash my old efs but there should be a check of the motherboard number and it didn't work. I would like to recover the phone. I know perfectly that procedures to write imei are not legal in my country because they are used to hide stolen mobile. But this is my phone, i can prove it, and I would not use the Samsung costumer service as it is too much expensive. Is there anybody that can suggest me where to find howtos on writong imei and resume my mobile?
Many thanks for the support.
I have never heard of a brand new motherboard not having an imei. Does the motherboard boot a stock Samsung ROM?

IMEI should be on new motherboard. Writing another IMEI onto a motherboard is illegal in some countries so we cannot allow this thread on XDA.
Contact the place you purchased the motherboard from.
