Hi all
Have now virtually achievd my perfect TODAY screen, but for ONE problem. It is just SLIGHTLY too large, thus bringing up a scroll bar on the right hand side- with around 1mm of scroll!!
I have done all I can to shrink and move things, and I believe I now have 2 options left- neither of which I know how to do......
1) Slightly reduce font size on owner information (which I want to keep), AND?OR get the phone no. oto the same line as my name.
2) I wish to keep the screen lock option that appears on today by default (the padlock that stops any screen activations in your pocket). Am wondering if I can add this to one of my SPB PocketPlus tabs as a shortcut- but have no idea where the .exe file is to point to.
Any help much appreciated,
Justin
Why dont you post screenshots. More great suggestions will come in for sure.
Yer tiz.......
Don't laugh- but I love the colouration of the guava theme with the black of the orbit! - just don't like black with black
You can just.... see the tip of the "device unlock" padlock at the bottom of the screen. All is adjusted to optimum (as far as I can tell)- apart from the 2 points I mentioned at the start of the thread- owner info, and device lock shortcut.
Thanks again
Justin

Hi bro,
If you made some search through the net you would find the solution. I've made search, I've found the souliton.
Just try the attached file, I think that's exactly what you need...

cant you make the size of pocketbreeze plugin a little smaller?
Or just reduce the size of SPB Diary... in worst case there appears a scroll bar in the Diary window...
SPB diary, and pocket plus have been made as small as possible. The scroll bar to the right is what I am trying to get rid of, ans the today screen extends down too far.
zsitvayb- thanks mate- that zip file has allowed me to shortcut the device lock onto the spb tabs. This has reduced the info at the bottom, and lost me the scroll bar. Can now see 5 days of wether- not 4!!
Would still be interested though in any way of tinkering with the owner info appearance on the today screen....
Remove your soft keys
I use wisbar advanced3, it has the option of removing the soft keys from the today screen, then using AEButton plus I made the soft key buttons have the same function as they originally did, soft key/1 press, contacts/long press, and I have lost no functionallity at all with a bit more real estate. Hope that makes sense. Also the features of WA3 are great and your today screen would look even better with some nice WA3 icons on the taskbar. If only it was free.
Thanks unique boy (tempted to call you uniqua- but unless you have young kids, or are a student you may not know the "backyardigans"!!).
Understand what you are saying- interesting idea. Does the wisbar affect speed at all??

That's not quite true. Remove one of the tabs (in Diary settings). After that you can decrease the height by another 20 picsels or so.
But this would then lose the fuctionality that I built up???

If you are using SPB 2.5.5 you can make the tabs horizontal and then add a custom tab and inside the custom TAB move the weather or any other today plugin...!
Like what I have done on my screen...
cheers
Have you tried using slide to unlock.
I find this great and you wouldnt need the lock icon on the screen.
Just a though and help you need pm me
WA3
As far as I can tell WA3 does not slow down my artemis. The skin I use is called "reflections" it can be found on lakeridge's forum. Nice new wait cursor, lovely cascading menus, float window. I like it.
Thanks to all- certainly a few ideas there to try.

AFTER YOU DO THIS RESET YOUR "GESTURE AGENT" SENSITIVITY TO THE SECOND TO LOWEST POSITION.
Sim contacts.
Anyone that wants to have the contacts on both the phone and the sim but hide the contacts stored on the sim can use this; HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>Phone Click on phone, then add DWORD value Value name:ShowSim Value Data:0

Vertical scrollbar
cxVScr = 20

Screen orientation speed.
hkey_current_user>controlpanel>accelsensor and change the adjust delay to 0 and also the mode change delay to 0
This will increase the speed at which the screen changes from portrait to landscape.

Increase Ringtone filesize limit
Browse to HKEY_Current_User / ControlPanel / Sounds
Under the Sounds key, you should see a value by the name of FileSizeLimit
Highlight the FileSizeLimit value and edit it
The default Value Data for this value is 307200.
Change this to a value that better suits your needs. I would recommend a reasonable amount as you don’t want to use all system resources to load up your ringtone. I would think that 807200 would be a reasonable size for most people.
Save your changes and you should now be able to select those larger files as your ringtones
Thanks to cru64 on the ATT LG forum

Sorry i thought this was MY thread. But i do see your point, but then again it'll still look like this as more people add other edits or tips. I was having to go back and forth between several webpages and it was just easier to add post as i got my crap together.
FOR POST #12:Don't see what the difference is how many post i put, the idea is to get the information out there in an easy to get at format. What i don't understand is why you want to beat down my post instead of contribute to it. I've seen you post in regards to the Incite, you have a vested intrest in the information i posted.
technically, its everyones thread.. but i do see youre point.. somewhat . it just looks like you want your post count jacked up if you ask me though
oh boy, give us a break .... who cares about post count ... default, thanks for this, next time i will only come here and find everything together.
Your welcome
That was my intent in the first place to COMPILE tweaks, tips, and tricks in one place. Hopefully people will submit some more tips.
As i posted on the LG Incite forum the best way to get a more sensitive screen and for you to better understand the "GestureAgent's" settings read this quote from this post
http://www.lg-incite.com/lg-viewty-tips-and-tricks/gestures-touch-sensitivity-and-the-lg-incite/
"We will get started by going to Start>Settings>Gestures. From there you will have the ability to make the device more finger friendly in 2 areas.
1)Flick scrolling in windows default menus(any menu with scroll bars).Instead of trying to jam you're finger you will be able to "flick" you're finger over the screen to scroll through things.
2)better sensitivity in gesture enabled apps(ones with more things off of the screen without scroll bars such as TF3D and POINTUI).
The best settings i have found in the "Gestures" settings menu is the click sensitivity set one spot below half way. Also don't forget to check all gesture enabled apps in the "exclusive" tab.
The third and probably the most important(depending on preference)is touch sensitivity. The screen will be most sensitive after you turn off vibration feedback in Start>settings>sounds and notifications>vibrations tab.Uncheck screen taps. Then go to start>settings>system tab>screen and recalibrate the screen with VERY light screen taps. The screen will be much more sensitive with the vibration feedback turned off.
Also with this setting, from the home screen you will be able to swipe you're finger from the very bottom of the screen to the top of the screen to bring up the "LG Touch Menu".You will also be able to swipe in this application to move to the different tabs.
Hope this helps with any questions you may have about gestures and how to make the screen more sensitive."
good job man! my incite is like 20billlion times faster.

Updated list
The cooks do know about this post, and are incorporating the tweaks into the cooked ROM. As for adding more tweaks to the list. I'm sure the focus right now is on developing a clean ROM and kitchen. Once that process has been completed i'll bet you see some more tweaks being posted here, since people will have more time to develop them. Thanks for the post btw I'll bet the LG Icon list get used alot.
Hi!
I'm quite new to theming with the SGS and I'm a complete noob when it comes to Photoshop, my friends tend to laugh at me in class when we're doing sth in PS. I actually have a request, I don't think it's hard to accomplish, because of all the amazing things I've seen in this section.
Okey, here it goes, the default notification screen (that grey thing you pull down ), I'd like the bottom of it to have actual angles, instead of being round and to go to the actual bottom of the screen, so nothing but the notification screen (and the bar up top obviously) is visible.
I hope I made any sense and I'd very much appreciate if some1 would even consider trying to create this for me and/or others ofcourse.
Thanks!
EDIT: Forgot to mention this, I'm running on XXJPO for the i9000, current ROM is Doc's v7.5 if that matters aswell.

.....possibly run your finger down the back of the phone?
He means the graphic at the bottom of the notification drawer when fully open which you can skin to be what ever you want... Just cause the image has changed doesn't make it's job change as well. There were a few (personal) themes I made that I removed it and gave the small illusion of extra space
Besides which the back button works just as well
its a shame to have the soft keys display while youre playing a game or watching a video. Any way to make them disappear completely and get a true full screen experience?
i was thinking maybe configuring it so that you gently tap the power button to make them go away(come back) & for normal power button use do a long press instead.
Probably a pointless bump/post from me, but this is something that I'd really like to have too.
Soft buttons sounded cool, but after getting the phone, they seem to be somewhat permanent and not particularly customisable either.
Videos seem to be the only application where they hide, but even then, simply tapping the screen _anywhere_ brings them back up again (even with screen control lock enabled).
I watch videos with subtitles and being a slow reader, tend to pause videos fairly regularly. It's annoying to have the video bounce around when I do so because of the soft buttons popping up.
Really would appreciate if anyone knows of a method to kill these soft buttons!
Yep I would love this as well, an option to enable this feature.
It would auto hide the soft keys, then a swipe up from the bottom will overlay the keys on top of the existing screen (so the app isn't resizing itself - like HD videos do when the keys come back).
Then we can use the full smexy 4.65" screen and real 720p.
it is up to the developer of the app to add the full screen code.
Dice Player was the first to add this and when you play videos, it automatically goes fullscreen and then a tap brings the buttons back.
i don't think that any mod or app could do it. You could probably make a mod that forces them to always hide in landscape, but the problem would be that they're always gone, even when you want them there.

I presume that an app can only indicate that the buttons should be hidden, and really doesn't have much more control than that?
So basically, unusable in games.

Surely there must be some sort of modification (even if it needs to go back to the kernel (forgive my ignorance if I'm totally off)) to allow us to do it?
I can understand that an app is restricted to the API provided to it, which is why I think an OS level mod needs to be done here.
I get it that this could be less convenient / more confusing, so believe that this shouldn't be in a stock ROM, but if I want to mod my phone this way, I should be able to, right?
i would love a rom that has a setting where i can choose certain apps that can hide the buttons on whatever apps i want. that would be awesome. dont know if its possible. especially on slingplayer. its a $30 app which rarely gets updated. who knows when they will update it. its a good thing i sideloaded it and didnt pay for it. i dont see how it can work on games though because tapping the screen is the way to get the buttons there. unless there is some sort of gesture to bring em back. i do think we will see a lot more out of soft buttons but it will take a while.
youtube seemingly does this for me....
I too think its a total waste having the buttons never move or disappear. Its a great concept, but google didnt take advantage of it at all. I just find it wasting space. Would love if they could be hidden.

i don't think so. the code is there to hide them, but in video apps they show back up on simply a touch. The game developers could add code to say that they only come up when you press pause. I don't see why that wouldn't be possible.
on a system level i'm sure it could be done, but as we've both said. it'll be much less convenient and more confusing.
heres an example, what happens if you enable that to play a game full screen, but that game has no exit option. You now have no way out of the game. The only way to get back to your homescreen is to shut off the phone.
so then, another mod would be required, you'd need a link to the home screen from the powermenu.
so your already up to two mods to do something that most people would not want.
The better thing is to just have the keys dim when playing a game like they do in honeycomb, and not just disappear.
i would also like a ability to hide them!
I think it would be cool if the soft keys had a transparent backround maybe the buttons could fade to dots like I have seen them do.

I haven't looked at the API, I'm just going on a hunch from what I've seen how apps react.
For example, if apps had such control over the buttons, why would they still show on touch even if screen control locking is enabled? Just a bug in the application, or perhaps just cannot be done?

Take the example in the first post - erhaps an option to toggle the buttons in the power menu.
One would presume that if you're playing a game, you're not looking to exit it every minute, so it's not like you exactly need a convenient exit button. If the toggle is done through the power menu, then it makes logical sense to go back there if you with to show the buttons again.
Of course, there'll probably be people who forget about where they turned off the buttons, so yes, slightly more confusing to newbies, but if there's a custom mod which allows this type of functionality, it would be really helpful to those who do understand. (after all, if you've gone to the effort to enable such a mod, you're sure to know about it)

I'm not sure about the "two mods" proposition - you can't really have one without the other so I'd think it would be classed as one, but I don't really want to debate about semantics here (neither can I really say anything about low level requirements to perform this mod).
As for most people not wanting it, perhaps, though I think the responses in this thread shows that there are people out there interested in this, and it's not only me. The value proposition is up to someone else to decide though.
Dimming the keys does not enable more screen space, which is the whole point of completely hiding them.
i dont have a problem with them, they hide automatically on things like netflix and need for speed shift...

honestly not sure. could be a bug or how it'd designed. since the galaxy nexus has no other way of letting you control it, most likely it's designed so that theres no way to perminately hide them.
If you added an option in the power menu to show/hide them, then that would make it just one mod. The two mods idea was just one to make them always hide in fullscreen apps, and then another one that would give you a home link in the power menu.
but having a link in the power menu to show/hide the buttons is actually a better idea. assuming it would work. And doing it this way would allow you an easy way to turn them on and off.
Might be NSFW for wallpaper.

This is the closes I can get it to hide, but it's still not full screen on games. Changed the color to black. It blends in with the background, but the highlighted button press is still there. Like hidden buttons.
Using Codename Android 1.0.1 ROM, it has the option to change the color built in, as does AOKP ROM.

actually google did take advantage of it. they added it to their own apps like youtube and gallery during video. and on other apps like phone during a call and gallery viewing pictures they hide.
Hello
One thing make me crazy using surface. In landscape mode, I have taskbar on the left side. It give me easy access to program with thumb and it don’t use much space... but when I switch surface to portrait mode for reading or note taking, it take too much space on the left....
So here comes my solution small program that can change taskbar auto hide property based on screen rotation.
You can change if taskbar auto hide or don’t in landscape or portrait mode , and you can mark this program to start automatic on startup
Feel free to use it and share it please leave comment of what you thing about this utility and what more you want
Cool! Doesn't work on the RT though, even thoughit looks like it should (.NET, AnyCPU target). I may hook it up to a debugger for some investigation. Thank you for including the source!
I love this utility! I've actually been unsuccessfully looking for something to do exactly this for a few weeks, and I stumbled on this when I wasn't looking for it.
There's one minor issue I seem to be having with it. If I restart my computer, wait for all the programs to load up (including yours, which is set to run at startup), the program is running, but doesn't have any effect on the status of the taskbar -- the taskbar simply maintains the last state it was in before I restarted the computer: autohide or not -- it doesn't change with orientation. If I exit the program and restart it, it performs as it's supposed to.
In short whenever I restart my Surface Pro (and sometimes when waking from sleep) I have to restart the program to get it to continue working properly.
Great utility by the way!
EDIT: It doesn't fail to respond every time I start and shut down, but it seems to happen whenever I restart with the Surface Pro still in portrait mode. I just tried it with it in landscape mode and it worked fine.
Hello
Many thansk for using this utility, I
nearly forgot that i post it public. I know about this issiu and after finals i have plans to fix this but unfortunetly some problem with position senzor shows up on my surface pro ( like in this blog surfacetablethelp.com/2013/06/surface-pro-simple-device-orientation-sensor-not-working-or-disconnected.html#comment-16957 but whit no android thing )
So soon as i fix this and have woring chang. oriantation i will wok on this utility
Are you still working on it?
A nice feature would be to have the bar always on the same (physical) side of the screen.
For example to save space: Having it on the left side in portrait and as soon as the orientation changes it will now be on the bottom.

Again thanks for using this utility. Orientation sensor on surface suddenly start working after ages of malfunctions so i was able to fix some bugs and add one new feature
So let me introduce v2:
-fixed bug when auto hide wasn't initialize after reboot.
-added feature to move task bar based of screen orientation.
Since changing task bar orientation isn't possible via API since windows vista, i am using some way of "bay pas". Program start task bar property windows. Switch focus on it and emulate keystrokes ( tabs for moving between options, arrows for switching orientation, enter for submit changes ) ... and i cant bele it .. it work :fingers-crossed:
So fell free to test it and post any comment and feedback
Dude, that's awesome. I haven't tested it extensively, but from brief usage, it puts the taskbar at the bottom on portrait and on the left in landscape. Exactly what I want. Thanks!
It still working in win10.. Thanks,
