i780 1% battery increment drive available? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

The title says it all: Is there any modified battery driver for i780 that can provide 1% battery increments? I have found lots of other drivers for other devices but none for the i780...
I started feeling like the original driver is 1% capable and that I did something wrong (installed battery icon patches maybe) and overwrited it with one thats not appropriate for my device.. Does this phone have 10% increments or is it just me?

no, its a hardware limitation, and wont be possible
unless we build an approximation based driver which works by studying usage patterns and predicts the current drain/battery level (not something which polls directly from the hardware as the hardware doesnt report with that accuracy)....
cheers

This is what i thought in the beginning but after some searching and googling I found that other devices had the same issue but they can report with 1% accuracy if you replace the original battery.dll file with a modded version. XPERIA is one of them. Of course, every model has its own battery.dll file because that file is a driver so, if it could be done, someone with knowledge should do it for the i780.
Reading all that stuff about the other phones I thought it might be the same issue with the i780 but it seems you are better informed about that!
Thank you!

New Universal ROM from i-mate - Experiences

After some tricks at another thread, succeded to unlock Extended ROM.
However, can't find there the usuall 'Config.txt'. Is it normal? Any clue?
the wm5 extended rom's do not seem to use a config.txt file. They use the autorun and setup files. If you add something to the extended rom, put Default_ infront of the file name.
But the process I prefer; is to use an old autorun and config.txt file. I think you can find an example in the forum of BTT's extended rom under a thread called my extended rom. Or look on the xda ftp site.
The old way still works great. I also use the config.txt to copy some sounds and files to the windows directory from my sdcard during reset.
But back to the title of your thread:
I am finding that the new rom is faster and more stable. Radio 1.09.00 seems better. IE and gprs seems a lot faster. Of course, I only kept 4 of the files from the Extended rom. Lots of the cabs in the extended rom add bloat and/or remove/modify settings that I did not want. Push email seems to work, not sure I like the new comm manager. Really don''t like that I can not start the comm manager from keyboard after the rom upgrade. But overall its an improvement.
I wonder how different the official release from I-mate will be from this test version?
Please help I am always getting CONNECTION ERROR
The Update software starts fine, nonetheless after the screen where it shows the CURRENT and FUTURE ROM version, it is stuck
At least Extended ROM 1.13.151 WWE from Qtek9000, still uses Config.txt method.
Just Autorun.exe (fileversion 4.15.0.0) is present, and it seems equivalent to the Setup.exe (fileversion 4.16.0.0) on the new i-mate Rom. The Autorun.exe is much smaller and from a different origin.
Maybe this difference relates to, how Qtek and i-mate aproach the subject.
Another topic are my fellings/experiences with this new i-mate ROM, that I'd like to share with you guys.
ROM Version: 1.30.68 WWE
Errors or Lack of implementation
Still not possible to rotate Camera (landscape / portrait).
Universal backlight button still without effect.
Battery indicator replaced the clock on title bar. It is possible to re-activate the clock at settings (Clock & Alarms) to display in all programs, but however it does not work when at Today screen. :-(
Device Lock plugin is a nice feature, however the ability to make a few settings would be very welcomed. For instance 'Lock/Do no lock' buttons.
Despite it is possible to answer a call from BT headset, when device is locked, it is frustrating not being possible to initiate a call from BT headset ('Voice Speed Dial' not called). However it is possible to repeat last number called/dialed.
'Press' and 'Press&Hold' button associations (e.g. As assigned with PowerButtons from OmegaOne Battery Pack Pro), get easly misleaded. It seems internal timers are not workig properly.
My wishes
MS BT stack to implement sending extra info to 'Caller ID' enabled BT headsets. So they can show Contact name instead of caller number only.
Ability to tap handsfree icon at phone app, to toggle handsfree profile, instead of doing it through the menu (old 'profile' today plugin from WM2003, would be nice too).
Somehow allow Activesync to store Contacts PPC specific information, like associated ringtones (ringtone name should be enough) on PC Outlook Contacts. So the information could be later restored if needed, by synching.
Most of them seem to be MS issues, and nothig to do with HTC, Qtek, i-mate, etc...
Except for the first two, that I believe to be HTC issues in fact.

I cant Unlock the ExtROM, how did you do that?
Hope you back soon!
couldnt get MMS or a pop 3 to work.
WMP10 still plays 320/240 and fails to enlarge
Fn -> doesnt work....
of course the battery / clock on the today is one big screw up, but dont think this is an imate issue, more a MS issue
The new Comm Manager requires a full end task from task manager, not a simple stop. there is no help with Comm Manager, and no "intuitive" understanding as to what the other icons do.
No real additional functionality to the device overall in my view.
But much faster and who can therefore complain about the other stuff....
Actually, I think the Battery/Taskbar problem is an I-mate issue. NOT M$!!
o2 did that on their Blueangel. You have to remove the .dll the i-mate cab adds (by preventing it from installing in first place?) and edit registry to show the clock again
The comm manager is very self explanatory, so I have no idea what you are on about
I agree it has a few other problems, but at least the Uni is now a speedy lil devil and not sluggish

i've the same problem. I cant Unlock ExtRom!!!
No bluetooth STEREO.
And other minor problem...
I-MATE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?
As anyone noticed pocket outlook now checks you email even when you leave it on a sms or mms account! No more worrying about changing the thing back to email after every text message! nice!
I wouldn't know which .dll it is unless I got a hold of the CAB file from the extended ROM. With o2 it was called batteryinfo.dll and was in the \Windows folder, but also had a few Registry entries to go with it. To add the Time in the taskbar have a look at the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell
"TBOpt"=hex:12,00,00,00
Change 2 as follows:
0:blank, 1:time only, 2:date only, 3:date & time
However, I think this will only work once you remove the i-mate battery add-in.
Could you give me a complete Registry Dump of your Device? That way I may find the registry entry that causes the battery to be shown.
Thanks
The battery icon is a MS issue. I have nothing from the extended ROM installed and still have the battery icon. Don't waste your time looking for a fix in the extended ROM. There must be some registry setting that needs to be changed. I'm still looking too....
For those who can't unlock Extended ROM, read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42812&highlight=
Can't say exactly which sequence of actions made it possible, but it is working stable!
The main issue seems to be that Extended ROM folder, should have a name different of 'Extended_ROM' on registry.
I've used:
- 'Extended ROM' first and it didn't work
- than 'ExtROM' it worked
- and now 'Extended ROM' again. It's working!
At the it is even not needed to run the CAB to unlock. The registry tweaks are enough. Strange....

I'd be looking in the registry if someone gave me a dump of the registry like I asked. It is a I-mate Issue, because the Today plugin is not made by M$?
Here you have my registry dump.
Changing
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell
"TBOpt"
to 3 for example, displays time&date, but overwritting battery icon.
Defenitely it is needed to disable battery icon on title bar, and force the time to display also when on Today screen.
My most new annoying experience...
Everytime I delete some files from ExtROM that I don't want to install at hardreset, they reappear again after a softreset.
Even powering the device down, and waitting more than 10secs, as seral times suggested in this forum.
Maybe a silly question, but any ideas to overcome this?

dci Battery and Qwerty Memory cab

I have got this cab from JUVS, this qwerty memory and dci battery cab is fantastic ! I have been reading this forum, and really appreciated JUVS contribution to everyone here!
But I have a question: when I click on the the top rainbow bar, there is a small window comes out and showing some Language (is it russian?) and some percentage, which I don't understand,
1st row I guess is the battary %, it shows 80% right now on my X01HT
But the 2nd row shows 255% now.
I am wondering does anyone has same question with me?
May I know what do they mean? Or is it possible if anyone could translate to english of this cab?
Thanks very very much!
First line: battery, just as you guessed, the second is for the replacement battery -- don't really know, which PDA had this, but it's there if you need it. 255% is just -1% which means "not available". And yes, it's russian
Probably thats a line for Backup Battery which comes in older WM2003 devices?

A lot of wm6.1 roms coming out now have the 1% battery increment working. HOWEVER, wm6.1 can be bad for noobs...
You need to know what you're doing or you may have other problems.

As an FYI, you get 1% increments in the Power window.. but the battery levels at top (at least in MRH 5.02) only move in 10% increments.

There are a number of ROMs now that have the 1% battery increments DLL.
10% increments is not a limitation anymore.
EDIT: Also for more education and wisdom, this thread highlights a lot...

this is not an update for Hermes ROM but a modification of the batters DLLs that can be replaced while cooking a ROM. it was developed and reached in the beginning by CRCinAus and then by all other chefs.
there is no any possibilty to make a cab file that replaces the modules because these DLLs are protected and can not be replaced. so if you want to enjoy this feature on your Hermes, you need to flash one of the latest WM6.1 that you can find on the forums.
PS I'm sorry for that post. it's clear to me now that it was not important to speak that way.
enjoy the time discovering!

Correct it has to be modified during the cooking process, CRCinAU was the first one that had enabled that reporting by hacking the driver dll files, hope he can come up with the next hack where we can have wifi running while the device sleeps, wishful thinking and a bit off topic but eh he can do one I am sure he can do another miracle.

I am also of the opinion that Schaps advanced 3.2 does it now. check the menu/more settings/connections tab. "Enable WI-Fi on standby mode"

if you are ready to cook your ROMs then you may replace the new DLLs in WM6 or WM5 kitchens (I suppose) but why do you want to cook WM6 builds if there are enough WM6.1 builds over here?

True! Your believe re SAC is right! but I find that when ever it goes to sleep it hangs the rom when it wakes up, even a soft reset doesn't really help, until I disable the feature

1% increment battery driver

I promised in one of the threads here that I would look into our (EU !) Rhodiums only reporting battery in 10% increments. As I received my Rhodiums today I did look into this. However, I didn't figure it out. I did see the structure of the battery driver and recalled no2chem mentioned a similar structure for the CDMA Touch Pro (1) - not like the GSM Touch Pro (1). So I hooked up with him on IRC and he pretty much held my hand making a 1% increment battery driver for the TP2.
So I learned a new trick and made this, all of the credit is to no2chem. I just extracted the files, sent them to him, had him walk me through the changes (and have him explain how and why), packaged it up, and this is the result. Tested on my own TP2!
no2chem's donation link is here: http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/Donate.aspx.
Obviously, for the 1% incremental battery icons on the taskbar you will still need an icon pack and the registry entries. Refer to your favorite taskbar mod for this.
By the way, keep an eye out for no2chem's improved battery drivers - he also showed me how to do USB fastcharge and the likes. I will not mess with this, but I'm sure one day he will
EDIT: As further credit, no2chem was partially shown this trick by cmonex, whom we all know, respect and love
EDIT#2: If this driver does not work right for you (it should, though), you can also try Quentin-'s new driver: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556318. This uses a different battery driver version as source, this one from a US device (the one I used is from an EU device).
nice.
+1 xdadevelopers.
i'll try it out in next day or two.
Well done guys, just installed it and battery is showing 98%.. I knew it was only a matter of time. Some great developers around.

No it does use more power... Actually battery always reports in 1%, but for some reason the battery driver rounds it to 10%. We just disabled the rounding function.
Thanks for the app, but I've had no joy with it on my Voda branded one.
Having said that there are no figures on my battery indicator at all! Just the plain white icon with 4 bands
Oh, and Batti 2.4 doesn't work properly either (which was the reason I wanted to try this)

You may need to use ROMExtract to get them.

Heh I just thought some more... Batti is been known to behave strangely. This DLL will NOT replace the icons for the battery - you need to install a battery icon pack for that.

It doesnt work very well for me either. Taskbar icon is always full. I've tried even several icon sets (including the original one). Now my device is like 1/2 of batery and taskbar icon is full. I include my battdrvr.dll extracted from my ROM. I dont have there battery.dll at all.
Anyway I think Batti 2.4 shows it right.

Problem: RAM used 85% without any running apps????

Hi and thx for reading my post! I hope one of the experts in here can help me!
I bought my HTC Touch Pro2 in July in Austria with WM6.1! In November i donloaded from HTC Webpage the WM6.5 ROM in German, flashed the phone and loved it!
But then i recognized a very interesting thing:
When i start my phone the RAM usage is about 52% and its quite fast and responsive. In the first 2 or 3 hours the RAM usage increases to about 60-65% - still OK!
But then it increases up to 80-88% and then its soooo slow . I close all applications but no change in RAM usage (maybe 1% less max.) and i have no idea what to do! Only possible solution: Restart! But it´s "boring" to restart this device twice a day to enjoy full performance!
Any ideas/solutions?
If you do a search you will find there are a lot of threads with almost exactly the same title as yours.
This topic has been covered LOTS.
ups....sorry! I am not that good in searching and thats why i tried that before....
I'm actually have this exact problem as well on the new T-Mobile US 6.5 Rom. As far as I am concerned we don't have the push internet that was prescribed in the other threads.
Anyway for me to see what is sucking up this much memory?
Tried to find other threads regarding this prob but maybe i´m to stupid for that: I didn´t find exactly this Problem!
Others have any provider issues or the use it without the TF3D and so on - BUT i have original HTC ROM for WM65 in German incl. TF3D!
Isn´t there maybe a Tweak (like i had one for my touch diamond 1)????
Too stupid to search ???!!!!

You may need to do this on a periodic basis as the setting doesn't hold.
