I currently have a UK T-Mobile G2 which is happily rooted and with the vanilla 2.73.405.5 rom I downloaded from the MoDoCo website and all works well.
Can anyone personally recommend a newer good stable custom ROM or do you think I should just wait for the 2.1 releases?

If you like sense, the Hero/Espresso Hybrid is best.
If you want to try a modded standard android, try KaguDroid.
But flashing is fast and easy. Why not try them all yourself? Your question is almost like asking people what kind of ice cream is the best.

True, but that's why I was hoping for a personal recommendation so I only needed to try one or two, me being the lazy git that I am.
Yes, but what he likes, you might not.
Have a browse and see what you like the look of. Flash it, if it doesn't work, try another one. How do you think we all choose our ROMs?

Hi all, i have been searching for a while and cant seem to find my answer so hopefully someone can help. I have rescently rooted my HTC Desire and installed one of the roms off here (Psychosis 5.0) it has installed fine except i no longer have the android market on my phone, i am running 2.1 0.83. Can someone please tell me how to get it back?
Many thanks.
You can try to flash a stand alone new market or Gapps, but I think it's better to just flash a up to date rom.
Since Psychosis 5.0 is based of a old Leedroid rom I would suggest you install the newest Leedroid or find something else you like.
Ah ok pal, thanks for the help i will find a different rom
Any advice as to what rom to flash?
Depends on what you want, look around in development and this thread. See if anything there strikes your interest.
If you have no idea and what to stay as close to stock as possible but with the benefits of custom roms I would suggest to install Leedroid
If wanna have everything working and want to stay as close as to stock as said before than Leedroids ROM is the one for you.
If you like speed and no snick snack and no Sense, I want to suggest DeFrost 6.1a. See the rest Non-Sense ROM too.
If you like extra snick snack and the new Sense, try one of the DHD or Z ported ROM. I am currently using InsertCoin 1.8f.
If you are and advance user and like to experiment things, try one of the experimental Gingerbread (2.3) ROMs.
If you like to have something iPhone alike, try one of the MIUI.
Note:
For newbies, please stay away first from any Data2SD and Data2Whatever or any Gingerbread ROMs at the moment.
Stick with App2SD, learn more first!
I don't know how to get market back, but I also recommend Leedroid, AuraxTSense, or ReflexTSense. All good ROM's, in my opinion...
Hello All,
I have HTC Desire HD and I would like to root it. Is [ROM][11/05] Runny Xtreme Surprise - v3.0.0 || Xtreme Fast || a bit more stable than the official ROM? Also where should I start if I want to root my device?
I think you should use search first. That's how you'll find out how to root, s-off etc. Xtreme Surprise is a good rom, but i don't see much differences between it and Virtuous rom.

Virtuous ROM is not the official ROM for the HTC Desire HD, has the one with Sense 3.0. If I root it and upgrade it to Xtreme Surprise, will I get a better ROM with less bugs?
Before you try a different rom, make a backup of the one you already have. Before you root your phone, read the threads for the roms yoy are interested in. In the first page they will usually tell you if there are bugs. And if not, reading the rest of the pages will give you an idea how it works, if other users have encountered.bugs and so forth.
Sent from a dream.
Runny Xtreme Surprise is #$%@ing awesome, and you will get much better performance than you will on a stock ROM. It's stable as hell for me, but I think any custom ROM is going to have some minor bugs somewhere (although I haven't found any yet). RCMix tweaks seem to be fully functioning on Xtreme and, in my personal experience, the whole thing is smoother than any AOSP ROM I've used thus far (and I used to be pretty heavily biased against Sense).
Sorry for gushing, but I think it's the absolute pinnacle of GB development thus far.

AWESOME! Cannot wait then to flash it! I am working now as IT Technician but when I get home I will do it! \/
There's a tool that you can use to root your phone in a few minutes. It's not complicate. Use the search option and you will find it without any problem.
Also there's a few roms that you can try, all have different tastes, behavior, app, etc.
Also always make a Full wipe (factory reset) in the phone before that you proceed with flashing a new room
You will be very addictive installing roms like me, I can't stop of flashing roms in my phone
Just Installed it last night! AWESOMEEEEEEE!! My phone became very smooth and nice!! And when I reboot is soo quickk!!! AMAZINGG!! Who created this ROM must be genius!
I think you will test in the future many ROMs....

Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

*I would also like to know the opinions of other testers and devs for this question.
Nobody is going to help you with this question because the point is for you to try the rom yourself. Do some research, bite the bullet and start flashing any and every rom until you find one that suites your needs.
Oh, I think some people might be willing to help, the problem is, your question is to nebulous. You need to give more information.
First the easy stuff.
Newest? Look at the dates of the threads or go to the main thread on ROMs, it usually lists the latest updates. Unless you are taking about the newest version of android (like Lollipop). In that case, look for a higher number. Kit Kat is 4.4,: Lollipop is 5.0
Most Stable? Get a rooted version of rooted Kit Kat stock. It was made specifically for the phone and will likely be most stable
Best? I want slimport out, USB otg, working Bluetooth, and stable. I went with a debloated version of rooted stock (10r version). That is currently the "best" for me. You might want speed, even less bloat, more customization, etc. Your best is going to be different than others.
Give us more details and people can help you. A blanket request for "best" is not enough to go by.
Good luck!
You're not going to get more stable than stock based. I'd be using that if I didn't care about open source and possible spying. Right now I've got PACMAN 4.4.4 without GAPPS with minor issues I can live with but am getting tired of. Might try Carbon next or something.
Avoid anything 5.0 based for now, as it really doesn't feel ready yet.

Rooting can be daunting if you are not confident and knowledgeable about modding your phone. As always, there is a risk when installing custom ROMs.
But with success, the G3 rocks! Good luck!

I just go the LG G3 and I unlocked and rooted it. Now I'm looking for a custom rom. I see there are quite a few 5.0 roms but since there is no official source, all these ROMS are pure Android and I am looking for one which has LG customization (as I really like them). I would like to know what's currently the "best" (and stable rom) for D851?

What's been most stable for me and what I consider the "best" has been SkyDragon Rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57862770&postcount=973
Along with the Dev's custom kernel too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/orig-development/kernel-skydragon-v0-0-3-t2847017

None of the stock KK Roms have been updated in awhile. I think Devs are waiting on LP to be released. Once you flash it, you'll see that there's not too much to update anyways. No reason to update Roms if there's nothing new to add.

Yep, I've actually ran both. IMO, Skydragon Rom just runs a little smoother and also with the SR Remix Rom, I was having all sorts of issues with being able to edit/delete files using any kind of File Explorer app. You'll notice in the thread for that Rom, that a lot of people were having that issue. With Skydragon Rom, I don't have that issue at all so that's also a main reason that I'm on Skydragon.
They're both pretty comparable though so pretty much just personal preference. I also like the fact that the Dev for Skydragon builds his own kernels too.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the Skydragon ROM.
Installed SkyDragon earlier today and so far everything seems to be working great. Though I wouldn't have mind at least some customization because after the first boot for few minutes I was confused if the rom was actually installed it not.
