*I would also like to know the opinions of other testers and devs for this question.

Nobody is going to help you with this question because the point is for you to try the rom yourself. Do some research, bite the bullet and start flashing any and every rom until you find one that suites your needs.

Oh, I think some people might be willing to help, the problem is, your question is to nebulous. You need to give more information.
First the easy stuff.
Newest? Look at the dates of the threads or go to the main thread on ROMs, it usually lists the latest updates. Unless you are taking about the newest version of android (like Lollipop). In that case, look for a higher number. Kit Kat is 4.4,: Lollipop is 5.0
Most Stable? Get a rooted version of rooted Kit Kat stock. It was made specifically for the phone and will likely be most stable
Best? I want slimport out, USB otg, working Bluetooth, and stable. I went with a debloated version of rooted stock (10r version). That is currently the "best" for me. You might want speed, even less bloat, more customization, etc. Your best is going to be different than others.
Give us more details and people can help you. A blanket request for "best" is not enough to go by.
Good luck!

You're not going to get more stable than stock based. I'd be using that if I didn't care about open source and possible spying. Right now I've got PACMAN 4.4.4 without GAPPS with minor issues I can live with but am getting tired of. Might try Carbon next or something.
Avoid anything 5.0 based for now, as it really doesn't feel ready yet.

Rooting can be daunting if you are not confident and knowledgeable about modding your phone. As always, there is a risk when installing custom ROMs.
But with success, the G3 rocks! Good luck!

Which Root Method/ROM is right for me?

Hello Guys,
I wanted to take a moment of your times to ask a very simple question. I have done a lot of reading here, but there is just simply too much information here to be 100% certain about things. So, I wanted to avail your expert knowledge to find out the best Root Method and best ROM for my needs. I will list them below, so that you guys may make some advice to me:
Root Requirements:
I am looking for a full Root (NAND included) on Android 2.2, along with Recovery to flash custom ROMs. I will be interested in backing up as well, more specifically NAND backup, however, I do not know much about its full use or how to do it and what it restores and etc.
Information (what I am on right now):
Firmware version: 2.1
Build number: 1.47.651.1 CL195459 release-keys
Software number: 1.47.651.1
ROM Requirements:
I am basically looking for the LATEST, MOST STABLE, OFFICIAL ROM for Froyo with the latest HTC Updates, along with Sense. All that of course, with full-root, if possible. So the closest thing to the official update from HTC with full root access basically and minimal modifications.
Additionally desired:
Being able to delete or uninstall the apps that I don't want, and the Camera updates to beat the 30 fps limitation.
Sorry for sounding too demanding guys, but I am merely requesting for your guidance to point me in the right direction/confirm some of the things that I have read. Please treat me as an extreme Noob as well.
I thank you for all your patience and look forward to your responses. Thank you and have a nice day.

Sorry Sir. Mods, can you move this thread please? Thank you... sorry guys!
Not trying to flame or anything but search and you shall find, im pretty sure the root method you should use has root ota 1.47 in the name. Also roms are personal preferences. Once you get rooted try them all and see what you like best that's part of the fun. Good luck
Use Simpleroot

Flash SteelH's rooted stock Froyo rom with Netarchy latest kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
Also wrong section, post in QA next time
As every one else suggests, simple root ota edition & amon ra's recovery, which is an option in simple root is a good start, as far as roms you really need to just flash a few for yourself to see which flavor you prefer, go get you something like myback up pro or titanium once your rooted, if your concerned about your apps/setup. There are several good stock roms out there to try...myself, I love me some evio, but it's all a matter of personal preference, trial & error, you gotta try out a few to see what really works for ya...
Sent from my phone.
When deciding what ROM, you can look at my sig for comparison charts of what features each ROM has. To get fps unlock you need to have a custom kernel, some ROMs have it included while others give download links to kernels that work for their ROM. Check out the chart and if you have any questions just post on my thread(also linked in my sig).

What ROM are you running?

Just curious what ROM fellow flashers are running so far! I'm still stock rooted and am pretty happy with the experience although I can always use a sick custom ROM .
I know there are only a handful released so far as the devs are justttt getting warmed up so I guess everyone can just give their take on whats available so far.
*Sorry if this has already been posted, didn't see anything similar. Kill the thread if necessary!

Stock rooted with battery%+crt off mod.
Once other mods and optimizations make it into the stock, like 4in1 reboot, I'll flash that.
But so far, I'm very happy with stock.
Stock, root, no mods and most bloat removed. Was on zedo's kernel, but flashed back (got some weird issues, pretty sure it's not the kernel, but need to eliminate variables).
Working on my own kernel (learning) and will probably build my own ROM off that... if/when I get time.

Problem installing Roms

After trying my hand at installing a mod (cyanogenmod 10.2) I need to go a different direction and get a more stable rom. So I wanted to give cyanogenmod 10.1 a go. Unfortunately it fails on install. After reading through some forums I saw that I needed to install it after I load up stock fl26. But fl26 also failed on install. I'm going to prep for install with another rom but is there something basic I'm missing here?

Hey bud, Your thread the other day got closed (for asking what the best ROMs are), but let me give you some more pressing advice:
Do a lot of reading before doing anything else. It sounds like you might have jumped into this a bit too quick if you're having this many problems. I don't mean that in a bad way, not at all. None of us knew anything when we started... There is a lot to learn in terms of messing with what's inside our devices. If you can't get a ROM to flash right, I strongly suggest you stop - just set the thing down and read, before you brick it and have no more phone.
Every ROM has a Post #1 (the "OP") that has exact flashing instructions, and links to applicable downloads. Make time for that reading - the FAQ threads, the General threads, and the thread for the ROM you want to flash. Because you're on an older device, I promise you that all of the kinks have been ironed out or bugs are well-known (and not going to be fixed) and this is all available from reading. Okay? Good luck.

Install a stock GB27 one click rom. That should reset your phone, and let you install whatever custom rom you want.
I know right... reading....... like when you read a thread about "Best" Roms and it doesn't say best anywhere in the post.
Thanks for the help Bud! :good:

If you would like... I can link you to a mobile Odin guide I put together for another member.. it's the easiest way to flash roms on this device( in my humble opinion )...
FYI... I sense that you might be a little upset with some of the posts...Rest assured... nobody is flaming you in this forum... These guys have tons of experience and just don't want you to brick you're device...
Also... this should have been asked in the noob friendly Q & A thread ( it's stickied at the top of the page )...no biggy, We are just trying to keep the Q & A section clean... for all of us to use...
Let me know if you want the link... and Welcome to XDA.. Epic 4g Touch forum...

To figure out what's best for you, there's only one way: try yourself.
I can give you a heads up on what to try.
If you like a really fast, battery saving ROM, go with official CM12 (that's what i am using ATM, builds are stable and, at least for me, no big bugs left).
If you like close to stock with all LG apps, try a custom ROM based on stock. I tried cloudy ROM which was OK back then, no idea what it's like now.
In general, make sure to read a few pages in the corresponding thread.

Just bought a G3 -D855 need some help on where to start - coming from Samsung S5

Hello!
I just bought a G3 D855 (arrives next week), and I don't know where to start. Should I start out with the stock experience? Should I go straight into the AOSP arena? I'd love some insight where possible. Coming from Samsung and Touchwiz I wonder if the LG skin is as annoying?
If someone could recommend a stock rom to start with that would be awesome or offer any insights I would really appreciate the help! - Looking around the CloudyG3 V2.5 looks promising -
I don't yet know what rom will be on the device - I believe it will be 4.4.2. Should I do an OTA update to Lollipop or what would be ideal? Just root and flash?
Finally which method to root? The one click method by avicohh? Is there another I should try?
Apologies for all the noob questions - just want to do right by my new hardware!
Thanks in advance for any insights!

If you want a best camera quality with ois working then stock based rom is best for you.If you love simplicity & ready to give up LG features then use CM or AOSP based roms. Its your personal preference.LG G3 camera hasn't been ported to cm or aosp based roms yet..Its your personal preference. You can use cloudy rom if you want g4 touch with slight modifications over stock lollipop. On the other side there are many LG UI themes are available in store. Those are pretty cool. You can try it out.
If you want to root then use this software as this is the easiest way..

Wrong Section
Also a self help thread should not be created in the development forum since this section is dedicated to discussion most closely pertaining to roms and development in general and so a mod can help you out here.
And while we're at it, you might need give the roms a try before finding what exactly is best for you. CM or stock both work equally well. In general view I prefer stock since it's better at times in terms of stability and other software features. CM has been a hit and miss for me. Previously used to own a Note 3 till it got jacked out of my pocket. Worked pretty well on that but I prefer stock on this.
Generally speaking the phone's a good combination of power and aesthetics. You won't regret your stay here since there's so much to do especially since the bump root. Have at it and feel free to ask any questions.

I shall start digging to find out what "bump root" is all about. Asingha94 recommended DP root
