Transparent Top/Bottom Today bar

Hi,
First to avoid the confusion, I'm NOT looking for the transparent curtain in TF3D, im not using TF3D.
I've got many nice wallpapers for today screen, however, the top (the bar that contains: start button, network signal, battery icon) & and bottom bar (2 soft button) make this unpleasant.
I've searched around and came across SkinMobile 5 & VJToggleToggle/Today ... however, it looks to me like they don't support WM6.1, nor WVGA.
SkinMobile5 v1.1 is what i tried, and it doesn't provide transparency, and has to be run in background
Could any one offer me a solution to make these bars transparent so I can see my wallpaper fully?
I thought these should be some png files that I can set transparency to?

Well i can 't find ANY when using search on transparent menu,

i hope due to the wm6.5 wich has actually transparent windows task bar and bottom menue bar
it might be possible to get an mix version also for the diamond.
or only an tsk file which has this "colour for transparence"

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of !!
I've been trying to modify one of the Pocket PC Themes (a .tsk file), but unfortunately couldn't find no transparancy options for the top & bottom bars as you indicated ...
I used Netswap ThemeMaker X (TMX) & Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 Theme Generator.... Perhaps there is an advanced software somewhere that could actually help...

Did u try this ? This is for WM6.5
Never got a chance to try it myself but looks promising
Give it a try but start from here
It will work on WM 6.1 & 6.5 + any Manila version

It may be possible for WM 6.5 with MaxTTM, but not for WM 6.1, MaxTTM can only change the icons of the taskbar but not the transparency. Hope someone comes out with an answer for the transparency - ( please note that the transparency is required only for the taskbar and the command bar - not the taskbar icons nor the softkeys) - Thankyou.

Nope...

use hdwall just use the search function or:
1. Take your wallpaper
2. creat to new pngs one called mysoftkeybar.png and the other mytaskbar.png or whatever you like. (480x52 Pixel)
3.put the top of your wallpaper first 52 rows (sorry for my english) in the taskbar.png and the bottom 52 in the softkeybar.png.
4. Copy theme into \Windows\ folder
5. Edit the registry entries:
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Softkeybar\SoftKeyBarImage
to your pngs
same for taskbar
and reset device.
but i highly recomend to use hdwall much easier
oh i neary forgot your wallpaper image should now be 480x692 pixel's for the normal today (crop of the bars)
for manila use the normal wallpaper

I've tried searching but can't seem to find what I'm looking for!
Has anyone managed to crack how to get backgrounds to look OK on the new Manila when in landscape mode? the closest i've seen so far is the blue max theme, but I don't want a blue theme or an analog clock!
Does anyone know how to get landscape backgrounds/wallpaper working properly?
failing that, does anyone know which .manila files I would need to edit?

Well, I did manage to do that somehow..
Basically, you'll need a 800X480 or 1330X800 pixels wallpaper..
Doing so, you'll have wallapapers that support landscape mode, but not all would work!

I tried installling it over Dutty V2 with Max blue theme, and my manilla got FUBAR. It got stuck and tabs disappeared.
Guess this only replaces original v3 manilla?
edit: just took a look at the .cab. Are you sure it installs everything? Looking at the setup xml, it doesn't do anything with the "BACKGR~1.000" file..?

Right, I think people are mis-understanding here!
I am after (and this thread is about) changing the background picture ON MANILA V3 (as in Dutty Xtreme and other ROMs) Manili V3 supports landscape mode, but currently the background picture doesn't stretch or re-orientate itself to accomodate landscape images. Instead it appears to centre the image around the middle of the portrait screen, and remain locked in that position in landscape mode.
This thread is NOT about making Manila V2 (as in Stock HD) LOOK like Manili V3

By using a 800X480 or 1330X800 pixels wallpaper!
As for the clock & buttom bar;
Clock: I used Max's Analog Clock for Dutty's ROM
Buttom Bars: 12aon Iphone Renaissance Icons / Text theme Icons
Transparant Buttom bar + transparant slider

& that's why I'm using this method until someone figures it out
Another solution here is to use pattern wallpapers, not the ones with a spacific picture in the middle.. & try to maintain its graphic quality within the 800X480 pixels..
There should be a trick to it.. but I don't know how........

Yeah, I'm curious to find out whether there's a specific Manila file for portrait and landscape or whether it's just the one file scaled/stretched for both...
If there's sparate files, then that could be used to good avantage!
Don't have the time to filter through each and every .manila file to find them though!

The way I got to understand it, is that there is 2 files for landscape and 2 for portrait.
Check my post here as well, might clear things up.

brilliant that's exactly what I was after thankyou! shall have a play with them this evening when I get home from work.

[THEME] Bloody Red

This is my first theme, so don't expect too much . It replaces the portrait (ONLY portrait) wallpaper, the icons (could not find the manila file for the stock icon, so if you decide to use my theme, please disable this tab), the slider and the clock. The theme is for the new manila with the new start menu, which means there is no icon for the programs tab (yet).
Thanks to maxycy for his theme maker, which saved me a lot of time locating the necessary manila files .
Uninstalling works fine and don't mind the warning when installing the cab file - guess I screwed up making it for specific version of WM.

If there is interest I can make a landscape wallpaper and icon for the programs tab. Also if anyone knows which file is for the stocks tab, I can make that too. And of course the color can be changed too, so I am opened to suggestions for that.

At this thread you can find some new and old tab icons with the extra stock and calendar icons.
For the moment I have upload the follow icons themes:
Tesalat official multicolor, iPhone Icons, FuzeBerry Icons, Tesalt_Berry Icons.
There is also a cab to change the mail envelop and music picture in transparent.
Tesalat Multicolor Icons
These icons work with all roms.
Them background it is a transparent button, which look well like you can see at the next picture, at all wallpapers colors.

You have just to install at your main memory the CAB. For Unistall do it from All settings/system/remove programs.

Like you can read I say, icons was included in a THEME for Touch Pro and because I gave the link of the theme, maybe someone try to install it at his device.
In this thread I give only the icons. I made them png files and after with M9editor I replaced the original files.
You can see the screenshots also.
So, you can use the icons but no the complicate theme of FuzeBerry.
Of course my CAB work at the HD

Kosti, This because at the real Rhodium manila, there is not tab for programs like at the old manila.
I will make an extra icon special for the roms which use mixed Topaz-Rhodium.
These icons from FuzeBerry are Blackberry icons so I can find one for programs.

tried the Tesalat_multicolor_icons.cab and the FuzeBerry_Phodium_icons.cab and both looked very nice indeed. however, when installed both caused the Quick Menu button (on top right corner of screen) to disappear from the screen with Manila running. had to uninstall it to get Quick Menu to work...

You mean the buton of the Task manager?
If yes look my screen shot, it works perfectly. Maybe has problems from another application.

only apps installed is Resco Explorer and Resco Registry.... i'll give it another go on my next hard reset. thanks for the icons!

[MOD] Manila 2.5.2011/2.5.2012 Background On All Tabs - UPDATED February 28, 2010

Hi, people.
This is a variation on the now classic "background on all tabs" mod for Manila. It was made for the new Manila 2.5.2011/2.5.2012 and does the following:
1. Displays the selected wallpaper on all the tabs of the Manila interface.
2. It stretches the wallpaper so it's rendered the same way as the WM 6.5 is - so you can use the same wallpaper on both Manila and WM and it will look the same. The only difference is that if the wallpaper is smaller than the screen area it occupies it is not tiled, as the WM is.
3. It sets the opacity of the wallpaper to 65 (65%) so it looks similar to the WM wallpaper as displayed on the start menu.
It still suffers from the low quality wallpaper thing in Manila (as the texture size limitation to 512x512 in the OpenGL on Touch HD makes Manila downsample the wallpaper to 512x512 and then use it as a texture on a bigger rectangle - there are several techniques to have the wallpaper displayed in full quality, but that's beyond the scope of this mod).
I'm usually using it with 800x800 wallpapers, so it's consistent with WM even in landscape.

The wallpaper stretching was not 100% correct when getting into/going out from landscape mode.
Version 0.3:
Small fixes + a version with 100% wallpaper opacity.
Manila 2.5.2012 - Bk4All.cab:
Tested on 2.5.2012 with Co0kieMonster's famous mod, it should play along well with a variety of Manilas and Manila mods, as it only changes the background image loading code, no mode9 file modifications anymore - thanks Co0kieMonster for the hint.

this bg 4 all messes up the alignment of the call history and hides the calendar link on the home page, if the cookie monster mod is already on the phone

Yes same here!

i have also installed cookies home tab.
If i install this Background4All Tabs i dont see the softkeys, no shortcuts. The Background is on all Tabs
Maybe you can fix this miancule

I really hope for a bg4all for build 2012 soon!

Yes. All you have to do is select the same image as 'Home tab wallpaper' and 'Lock screen wallpaper' and you'll end up with identical wallpapers on Manila and Windows Mobile, in both portrait and landscape - to avoid tiling anf possibly other issues, use an image of at least 800x800 pixels.
