ok guys i have done plenty of cooking and there are few things i still cant figure out...
guess some one can help me...
1. Customizing Rom version in About window. and adding extra strings. (settings => System => About)
is it Nk.exe + Hex editting?
2. OEM folder.. can it be copied from a stock Diamond HTC ROM? OEMXipKernel also can be copied from a dumped htc stock rom?
3. HTC Task manager 2.1 overlapping the clock on the taskbar in WM6.5... any reg fix or anything for it?

First of all I'm sorry for my english, hope you can understand me...
I'm going to cook my first ROM...
The idea is to make 2 versions (with/without manila) of a clean "uc capable" rom; what I want to do is take a 1.93 official base and update some oem app and sys (i.e. htc camera and netcf) and remove some others to replace theese with 3t part usefully app (i.e. putting in wktask manager instead htc task).
Now my doubts:
(I've readed a lot of wikies and thread but didn't find a CLEAR answer to all my questions)
1- If I use an official .exe rom as base I obiouvsly find inside it the radio part...have to remove this befor but in base folder due i don't need it for my work? How?
2- I'm able to remove oem pack from my rom base and I'm also able to repack new ones starting from a cab file...but I don't know if it's possible to take (exactly as they are) some oem pack from a stock/custom(when not protected) rom to use in mine...I saw that a lot of cookers use oem pack taken from raphael official roms to update thair roms and I would know if the process to do this is just open the rom, copy the oem and past it in mine... In this case...where can I find a good very update raphael rom?!
3- Opposite than this, for manila I would use the "animated switches" version. I want to downgrade it to the version with theese animations but I don't know if there's a particular process to replace this oem...can you tell me? PS: what is the exact manila version I need to do it?
4- TO UPDATE NETCF TO THE 3.5 VERSION WHAT HAVE I EXACTLY DO? And is the Alexandre's oem pack good for my pourpose?

1. When dumping a ROM, it will dump separately the splashes, radio, os and extrom (if any.) Extract the exe with WinRAR and dump the nbh.
2. When dumping a ROM, it will create packages if ROM is unprotected. A good place of finding a Raph ROM would be the Raphael forums.
3. Delete the old package from kitchen and replace with new one (in your case, the old one, animated).
4. You can find ready made NetCF 3.5 packages. You should delete the old NetCF 2 from SYS folder and replace it with the 3.5

Here's what I do:

You have to create the packages!
Don't know the kitchen but it should be like this in every kitchen.
Also, you can check inside provxml file (notepad will do), maybe the rgu (registry entries) are set through provisioning.

confused...
I think I have to create just the packages of apps I would to add...not even all the apps contained in the stock rom!
Looking and reading tutorials in this forum I understood that If I would (i.e.) add/rmv apps to my rom I've just to put its files in base rom and then (after extract all) add/remove what I want. Then rebuild.
But for all others teorically I don't do anything...Is this wrong?

OEM -> PACKAGE_Diamond_manila <- delete this folder
OEM/OperatorPkgPT -> PT_Manila_REG.cab <- delete this file (and remove it from ConfigPT.txt).
OK many users have asked me to revert changed (skinned) taskbar icons back to the stock XPERIA ones (most taskbar skins are currently uninstallable, but not when the user has over-installed a new CAB or when they are pre-cooked into a ROM)
I have prepared two CABs with all the XPERIA stock files
These CABs will revert all of the taskbar icons to the original stock ones
Choose the proper CAB for Windows Mobile 6.1 or Windows Mobile 6.5

It's the registry...
I've found many differences between 6.1 and 6.5
Still learning how the new OS works
trust me i know too well how tricky the registry in 6.5 is..i've had to reflash about 5times in 2 days because of the damn registry..im currently trying to find a way to change the font in titanium without having to modify the .cpr file..hw's ur surgery coming along

modifying the font ??
1- Get your new font, rename it to tahoma.ttf
make a copy of your font and rename to tahomabd.ttf
2- Open both with font creator (http://www.high-logic.com/fontcreator.html)
Go to Autonaming
3-Change the name of your font to "Tahoma" and "Tahoma Bold" respectively. Save both
4- Copy your "tweaked" tahomas to /windows/ (replace the stock ones) -> reset
Done
PS: I can not test the WM6.5 CAB untill I get my WM6.5 ROM absolutely finished and streamlined to the Sony OEM software package, then I will test

Thanks for making the cab - unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work.
I'm installing it over Jack's Full 3.3 ROM, which has Anx1 Tsowen Taskbar by default.
After installation, the taskbar icons are completely blank, and all the other icons in the start menu, file explorer, etc. are corrupted, eg. folders have the internet explorer icon.
Any ideas for a fix?

This CAB restores the tweaked files only
You can ask ANGELUSZ for the required registry changes (they are just 2 values I guess)
Once you change those registry keys back, all will return to normality

the cab didnt work.. i got the same results as _Robert_ did, all the icons disappeared, and there were just blank spaces.
i tried this fix though, something about using MAX TF3D and restoring the original icons:

THIS IS FOR THE XPERIA X1 USER INTERFACE
Manila/TouchFlo/Sense phones use a different, customized phcanOverBMP.dll (which contains the taskbar icons)
So this CAB is not recommended for sense/manila/tOUCH flo devices
Try at your own risk

PS: If you are using a cooked ROM which includes manila, then ASK THE COOKER, because installing XPERIA STOCK files over MANILA will creatre a MESS of course.

So you want to cook your own rom. You will need 4 things:
1. A Kitchen Software
2. ROM 6.5 or 6.5.5 SYS and XIP
3. OEM Package for Diamond
4. EXT packages (addon software)
Some chef provides kitchen, so you can save a lot of time from building your own.
Search "KITCHEN" you will find some.

I have recently bought HTC HD and was tring to make it look better by searching for good themes but I'm totally confused how to apply them.......Please help me with following problems.......
I have followed all the steps mentioned in this forum for installing .theme files........
- I downloaded Diamond_TF3D_Config_Setup_v0.6.7 and installed it
- Created "Themes" folder on my phone memory and copied the "XXX.theme" file to this Themes folder.
- Opened TF3D Config and clicked on "APPEARANCE" tab and clicked on PATH and selected the "Themes" folder where my "XXX.theme" files is present but I could not find any names in Select files dropdown menu of TF3D App

Manila is just a name like sence in htc hd2 I know it is very confusing that HTC,but if you go in the WIKI you can see how many different kinde of htc is on the market your's is Manila 2.1,the taskbar what you want its easy, all you have to do is you phone to allow the battery in the taskbar, you have two possibility's, first you can do it with a App, secound you can change it in the registry,if you don't know how to do it ask I can provide both,with you themes, tell me where would you like to but you themes,maybe I can show you a easy way and the right app for it,the icone-soft theme extension,I don't know what you mean? the easyest way to upgrade you phone with different WM's or radio's and ROM's is, go on this page to the top and hit WIKI, in the wiki go to you phone, on you phone page you will finde everything you need and like to change you entire phone, it is all very nice explaind.
