Go to your "Sounds and Notifications" settings. Then go to the "Notifications" tab.
Check the settings for event "Messaging: New text message". Make sure to disable "Display message on screen".

Anyway to suppress Pop Up Notifications?

Any way to suppress pop up notifications on the XDA IIs? Example is SMS I don't mind the notification icon at the top but don't like it displaying the message in a pop up another is voice mail balloon.
Thanks in advance
:?
You can turn off the sms message display in the options, as well as set which stuff you want to be alerted for and how you want to be alerted.
settings --> Personal --> sounds and notifications

Not on a XDAIIs...
I think you need to change the values in the Register. You gave me a great idea tho, coz I agree...those popups can be annoying. I will have a dig through the register and see if I can come up with something that works.

Thank you and please keep me informed of any progress.

Un-click "Display message on Screen"
Hi,
Many thanks, guess this is a case of RTFM. (Read the F***ing Manual), although the user guide is quite poorly written.
Saved by the forum once again.
LOL
though RTFM (or utilise the Search function on this forum) is always a useful response

Text Messages (1)

Anyone else having this problem? I deleted all my text messages and the header still says Text Messages (1) as if there is 1 unread one... ????!?!
Not sure exactly...When I get a text and read it but don't want to delete it stays on the topbar. I have to go back to text messages page on the panel and scroll on it again. It will usually then remove it from the topbar. If you don't need the text message just delete it and it also is removed from the topbar on homescreen. I don't know if thats what you are having issues with but that's not the end of the world for myself.
I'm using WM6.1. It has the threaded text message strings. After i go into a message/conversation and read the text message it should remove the (1) from the top bar signifying no unread messages. I've read all my messages and even went as far as deleting them all but the (1) still persists!
Did you try to restart the phone like turn it off and back on... Also check your MMS maybe you have some message that was unread in there... Check it out and get back if this does not fix it...
Go to your registry and check the value there, look in : HKCU\System\State\Messages, and look in sms or wherever and check the count, if at 1 then set it to 0.
Also, remember the message is not "Read" if you just view without responding.
if you dont respond, you need to <- out of it....not hitting the home key or cancel or whatever.
that is the only thing that works for me.
I have a similar problem, when I view a text message it is not marked read immediately, and home screen shows the mail icon. To get over this problem, I do the following: after reading a message, I press Menu->Close instead of just pressing the BACK button.

nooooooooooooooooo i can't seem to do anything to get rid of it! i delete all the messages and even after that reset the registry key stated by showaco and after a restart it still shows [email protected] ARGghghhghghg
Could it be an unread message stored in another folder such as Drafts or Trash?
Unfortunately not
I checked each folder and went as far as emptying them all

How to enable "SMS Delivery Notification"??

Just got a new TP2 replacement for the TP1 I dropped, it came pre-loaded w/6.5, and im still running on the stock Sprint ROM w/no other apps, etc.
Ive read other posts, but maybe im just retarded or missing something.. I installed advanced configuration tool 3.3 > enabled "sms delivery notification" under messaging > soft reset > send text to gf > get reply from gf... *** no delivery notification!!
Anyone know why? Do I have to disable threaded layout or something? Or do they go somewhere other than the standard sms inbox?
Thanks!
If you're using the HTC messaging app you need to enable delivery notifications while writing a message. Menu -> Tools -> Message Option
thanks for the reply. but i cant seem to find 'tools' under any sms menu button.. and I assume by htc messaging app, you are referring to the one that opens if you select the sms icon in TF3D nav bar and then just tap the screen?
sorry for the n00b question lol.. but ive only had this phone for a couple of days now and am still trying to get the hang of it.
You're welcome. The Menu appears when you writing a message.

Follow the screenshots. . .
my menu is identical to yours, only it ends with 'recipient phone number'.. there is no 'message option' in the menu.
i also reopened advanced config and verified that 'sms delivery notification' was enabled.. and indeed it was. is that all you did to enable it on your phone, or did you use a different method?
thanks again for the help!
Maybe the Sprint stock rom doesn't support this feature. No idea.
hmm any idea how i could find that out?
Maybe try this?

sms notification

Im running the sprint update to 6.5 and i am wondering what happened to the popup of the sms. I seem to remeber getting to see the message briefly on the bottom and being able to choose to reply or dismiss. All i get now is the taskbar notification which to me is pretty useless. Any ideas?
Thanks

go to start->settings->sounds and notifications
then go to the notifications section. from the drop down box for "event" select "New text message" and then under that make sure the "Display message on screen" option is checked. That should solve your problem.
Thanks. Wow that was easy, I should have known that.
no problem glad to help!
