Try
Start > Setting > Personal > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications
Event: Messaging: New text message
Un-click "Display message on Screen"

Hi,
Many thanks, guess this is a case of RTFM. (Read the F***ing Manual), although the user guide is quite poorly written.
Saved by the forum once again.

LOL
though RTFM (or utilise the Search function on this forum) is always a useful response

Problems with SMS

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using the Blacck version 2.0 ROM, and I have some issues:
- I can't recept the sms sent notification, I have to go in my Inbox, then the Notification come. I have the sale problem with all of my messages, I have to go to my inbox for receipt them.
- When my TyTN starts, he doesn't ask me my PIN code anymore, I have to go on the Comm manager, and then he ask me the PIN code.
Thanks for your answers.
The first sounds like you simply haven;t set up your sounds and notifications to display the message on screen (Start, settings, Sounds and Notifications, Notifications Tab - then click down to new sms and tick the box for display message on screen).
The second is a WM6 bug. Cold booting goes into flight mode for some reason.
Thanks for your answers.
1) The box is already ticked, and the sound too
2) okay, thanks. Will it be corrected in the next Black release ?
And I have an other question:
When i start a new text message, on the box "To", when I'm typing the name of my contact, he doesn't list me the names.
For example, i want to send a message to my girlfriend, ChloƩ. When I start typing "Ch" he doesn't list me my cobtacts who start whit "Ch". It is a bug ?

No sound for text message received !!!

After upgrading to WM6, there is not sound for Text message reveived.
I had enable all the sounds for events and programs notifications, but the sound still not working, anyone know how?
Thank you very much.
I modified in the settings-->Sound & Notifications-->Notifications tab
in the Event dropdown choose "Messaging: New text messages"
and check "play sound"
thanks a lot

Artemis Toch Features changes needed

Hi,
I don't like the treaded sms and also the fact that If I have a message from an unknown number, the same number is listed as a part of the Pocket CM contact list. Is there a workaround to this problems.
I don't want threaded messages and listing of messages phone number in my contact list.
Help
For disabling sms Threading see here:

The second part i don't understand sorry.
Cheers
...or settings in Advance Tool Settings
Let me explain the second problem.
I received a message (maybe promotional message) from an unknown sender (someone who is not part of my contact list). Once I have received this message and its part of my message inbox. Now this number from where I have received the message is listed in my contact list with a number of messages received in the contact list. This is one feature that i don't want.
Here something
Thing ab this *.cabs
Thanks to Meshle! Be strong Brother!
Thanks a lot - That will be really helpfull.
I've installed the lite version (without cube) and just wondering if I can change the keyboard when texting, I find the individual keys a bit too small, wonder if a different style keyboard is out there?. Also when writing out the 1st line of the text and upon reaching the end of the screen it does not scroll to the 2nd line but continues across with loss of text already typed to the left...any ideas how it can be resolved?
Thanks

Text messaging problem of a different kind...

Okay, I searched and searched but could not find a solution to this issue. A very minor one, but a quite annoying one, at least to me.
I know a lot of people have been having problems with phantom text message notifications, but I actually want to be able to mark messages as "unread". In the Windows text message application, I select a message (or conversation thread), then when I go to "menu" > "mark as unread", that option isn't highlighted and I'm unable to select it. I'm also unable to select the flagging options in the "follow-up" submenu, though those are less important to me than the "mark as unread" option.
PLEASE help! I'm a heavy text messenger (part of the reason I got this phone), and I really need that feature.
Is there a registry hack or cab or something for this? Where would I look?
I am running a stock T-Mobile ROM.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Notification SMS vs. e-mail

Hi,
Ideally, I would like to get just an icon notification with e-mail, but a vibrate+sound+icon when I get SMS.
I went to the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications
And under there I find two entries that seem to be relevant:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Messaging: New e-mail message")
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Message: New message")
I didn't find any that explictly called itself "New SMS".
So, if I set the first one's "Options key" to only show an icon and the second to noise/vibrate/etc, it seems that both SMS and e-mail use the first and ignore the second.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks,
Michi
editing the notification registry is a bit different. The number value tells it whether to ring, vibrate, vib+ring, etc.
Whats wrong with going to start-settings-sounds & notifications and editing them there?
I did go there.... same story, I can't seem to differentiate between emails and SMS they seem to use the same setting. So I thought maybe there was a way to get there via the registry.

Click to collapse
If you go into the settings>sounds&notification>notifications, then hit the drop down box for New Email Message and uncheck the box for play sound and uncheck the vibrate box as well and it will only show you the notification when the email comes in. Then you have seperate options for the new SMS as well.
