Does anyone know how to do this?
I would like to take one or two of my Opera Mobile 10 bookmarks and put a shortcut to it on the start programs page.
I am able to make a shortcut to the Internet Explorer favorites in the Windows/favorites folder, but anything I link a shortcut in there just goes to internet explorer.

Just like many of you who have an e-mail account set up on their phone, I just hate clicking on the links that come attached to it because slow-a$$ IE will open it up and it takes forever. Well, here are some easy settings editing that will switch to Opera Mobile into being the default browser instead! I primarily use Opera Mini when browsing the web but Opera Mobile is great for e-mail links. *note: these setting edits can be done only in Opera Mobile and not in O.Mini from my own testing*
1. Open Opera Mobile.
2. In the address bar, type opera:config and press enter.
3. Scroll down to Install tab and click enter.
4. Check the box next to "Browse First Time Launch" and click Save.
5. Now, exit Opera and re-enter again for it to complete.
6. Enjoy clicking on e-mail links !
How to get the Favourites link to open Opera?
I have set Opera as the default browser and when I touched the Favourites link I was taken to the favourites saved in Opera....until today...when suddenly it will only open the favourites saved in Internet Explorer. I cannot find a way to set the Favourites link to open Opera. Can you help?
I like to have 30+ bookmarks and prefer to organise on to folders. Opera 10 on my HD was superb. Any apps to achieve similar for the Desire?
You can create folders on the home screens and save bookmarks in them if that helps?
@ Firedup, thanks. That helps.
Another work round that I have found is to export my bookmarks from Chrome to Google Docs. I can then open Google Docs in the Desire brwoser and bookmark the Google Docs folder page. I then have access to all my PC's bookmarks from Desire. Not very elegant but it seems to work. But anyone know how to import the bookmarks from Google Docs?
One thing that is very handy is to use GestureSearch from google labs: http://gesturesearch.googlelabs.com/
You simply draw the letters with your fingers on the screen.
Ie, if you wanted to find a link to this page, you start by drawing an O with your finger, then and r then a g - and b then it would probably be displaying your bookmark.
Hi,
The default / stock web browser in HTC Desire, is that it?
I found the user interface is not that good
- Is there any easier way to go to the bookmarks instead of pressing the "menu" button then bokmarks
- Is there any way to add FOLDER or GROUP in the bookmark?
Is this HTC limitation or Google Android limitation?
Its a No to all your questions really. What I do is have a folder on my home screen, and then create bookmarks for all my favourite sites and put them in the folder. Then I just need to open the folder and go straight to my bookmarked website. Its fast and easier this way.
Other option is to get Dolphin browser, an excellent browser. It`ll allow one tap of the icon at the top right to access your bookmarks. It uses gestures too so you can set one up for bookmarks.
Have used Dolphin since it was released and its always improving, but I still go back to the default browser as it does a better job of pinch/zoom.
Since upgrading to the Sprint WM6.5 stock rom, my Opera Favorites folders are all expanded in the "Favorites" view ... so I see the name of each folder I've created, and underneath each I see all the bookmarks for that folder. In the 6.1 version, you would have to tap on the folder to pull up the list of bookmarks for that folder. Is there any way to make Opera exhibit this same behavior under the WM6.5 rom?
So this is a very quick and easy way to use your chrome bookmarks you've carefully collected on your computer but now your chrome browser ducks and is laggy. I have been looking for a way around most browsers not sure syncing chrome bookmarks for a while and I stumbled on this just today. So turns out if you have a second browser, for me it's dolfin mmm so smooth, and you place the Google Chrome bookmark widget on one of your pages, click one of your bookmarks, then it actually asks you which app you want to open this with and you can then of course default it to your browser of choice and just like that you can have a all your bookmarks at the ready for any browser
Another option is to export Chrome Bookmarks as HTML file (from your PC), put it on your SD card, and access it with: file:///storage/sdcard0/xxxxbm.html (or whatever path). Then create a screen link to that bookmark. Click the link and browser opens to your bookmarks. The HTML file is also easily edited in your explorers html viewer (or on a PC). "Most" browsers support the file:/// access (except Chrome).
