Hello all. New kid on the block here. Just got a TP2 yesterday spent most of the day crawling this forum and landed on the EnergyROM_21885_RHODIUM_17.Dec.2009_StandardM2.5 ROM. All seems to be going well but the ALT key on the slider doesn't work. This is an issue for me due to the strong passwords that I use and switching between the hard and soft keyboards is time consuming.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
P.S. Wish me luck. I am a looooooong time BB user trying to make the switch.
Thanks in advance
Is you TP2 tmo? If it is you may have to use the ctrl key as your alt key. This also happened to me and a freaked out, see if it works.
I believe only the T-Mobile USA TP2 has an ALT key.
Anyway, in this post are some keyboard fixes. If you're using a T-Mobile USA TP2 variant, I attached the keyboard fix for you.
ALT Key

Are you asking for the T-Mobile keyboard fix? Look one post up from yours.
What's with all the new guys resurrecting old threads lately?

Any way to make the T Mobile Function key work? I've been searching everywhere.
+1...i have been trying to get this to work also
Yeah. I just want to be able to type question marks and quotes without having to slide in the keyboard and do it via onscreen keyboard
< and > symbols would also be awesome if they could be hardcoded some how. They arent even symbols on the keyboard even on Win Mo but I would love to have them, especially if this Ubuntu thing works great. I do lots of HTML / PHP so... PHP coding on the TP2 would be pretty sick Kinda hard to do without < or > symbols. Could use { and } too
try the ctrl key. im pretty sure that worked for me
the CTRL key makes an '@' sign.
Are any of you using the T-Mobile RHOD210 rootfs.img with keymap? That should hopefully map all the RHOD210's keyboard keys correctly.
Yeahhh, that thing doesn't work.
So yeah, it's not the FN key, it's the ALT key -_-.
Anyways, hitting ctrl just makes an @ sign. ALT does nothing. Shift works.
My keymap is set to Rhod210..
What do I do :'(
thanx for the info but it will work on android????

Have you tried the Rhodium Keyboard Controller (remapper) yet? It'll let you assign custom functions/uses to any of the hardware keys/buttons
wait wait wait...where does our phone have a ptt button? The Fuze does...uhh wrong forum?

The Tilt2 has one as well, Tmo version does not
why dont you just hit the end key?
I am using the Rhodium Keyboard Controller , but do not know what function to use to map it to Today Screen. Also end key does not work for some reason.
I know it has got to be something simple, but I want an SSH server on the Andriod OS, but to do so I need access to keys chars such as / and " ..., but I can not get the FN key which should be in the "Shift Ctrl" position to work. Best solution would be to have the keyboard mapping exactly as it appears on the Tilt2, second best would be to have it work with a standard mapping and not AT&T's. yet so far I can figure out neither.
Thanks,
ERIC

When I use the Tilt2 keyboard mapping when booting into Android, I have a fully functional Tilt2 keyboard, including the Fn keys...
Do you have this entry in your startup.txt set cmdline section?:
physkeyboard=tilt2

Im looking at my keyboard right now, and neither the / nor the " require the FN key to use them.... they are their own button. On top of that, my FN key works perfect, otherwise I wouldnt be able to use the numberpad. So what exactly are you talking about? lol
The "Tilt2" is only the name for the AT&T branded TP2. If you have a different handset other than that, you need to match that to the device you have using the startup utility (MJGDroidUtil.exe).
I'm gonna guess he is just running the harret.exe and not the util that lets you set your config. you need to run the the other exe mjutil something or other and it will let you pick your keyboard then it should all work fine
Hi.
I have a norwegian touch pro 2, which means my keyboard is a bit "strange"and have theese weird æøå buttons. I don't need those to work, but my Fn key, neither my ctrl key (which is placed where your Fn key is placed at the lower left) will not give me access to any Fn function keys like / ! () etc. Is this a know issue? Is there a way for me to fix this?
Ps. Thanks a lot for porting Android to TP2. Except for this and GPS all my needs are satisfied, and Android is so much better to use than WM6.5. So thanks a bunch guys, going to make a small contribution as soon as I get my first paycheck next month

Whats wrong with your GPS?
I swapped my ATT tilt 2 keyboard with the much better Verizon keyboard.
I found a cab for fixing the keyboard layout for verizon.
Everything is great... except the FN and SYM keys seem to be swapped.
All other keys are correct.
anyone familiar with this?
Looks like NRG no longer includes his keyboard mapping cabs with the roms since they are in the provisioning cabs now. I dont want to provision for VZW since it's an ATT phone. I'm pretty sure the cab I used was the old VZW Remapper of his anyway.
This is what you want:

You can re-map any key with this, including the useless PTT button (you can remap it to do something useful).

Thanks redpoint.. I have this already and tried it. I actually use it to remap the PTT button
I cant find a way to remap FN though.
When I add a button to remap, it asks me to press the button I want remapped. It does not respond to Shift or FN since they are modifiers.
I cant find the codes to configure it manually either.
