As I noticed that Black no longer releasing new build (becuase the official is out) I started thinking - maybe I should go for the official...
Till now I tried SCHAPS 3.57/3.54 and D-Lite. How is the official compared to these two in terms of speed and stability? What does it come with (HTC home, what dialer, etc).
Thanks
OK, the answers to your questions can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=355
If the oficial roms where fast and stable we wouldn't need cooked roms would we?
Official roms are like a new major brand windows pc...they come with so much "bloatware" that you will never need. So cooked roms are custom roms built so you don't have to deal with that crap with extras. Some are "lite" editions which basicly means no extras, just the rom itself.. others throw in some very good useful apps that are widely used.
So i'd suggest not to go official.
I prefer lites because i install what i want, and almost everything can be found in a cab file somewhere in this forum.
Is there any system in the numbers of the WM6.1 versions?
There are so many different Builds that nobody knows which is official, which is the latest or which is development.
Maybe somebody can explain the system (if there is one).
Excellent Question
I've always wondered this myself.
There isnt an official WM6.1 for the Hermes, development stopped a fair while back since it was superceded by the Kaiser. Soon to be again superceded by the Raphael.
Official builds have never been good anyways since the tweaks and etc....in the cooked versions were most likely found by users and not the developers at HTC/M$.
Stability and reliability all depends on the ROM, how it was cooked and also any apps which are installed.
Hi,
Going through the forum, I understand that P3300 / M650 could get quite slow after being upgrade to WM 6.5 (compare to WM6 Black & Blue 4.3 for example).
=> Is it still true with the last ROM released ?
Moreover, I just read that Microsoft has officially launched today the official WM 6.5 version.
=> Can we expect that soon new modified ROM will be released based on official WM 6.5 and then expect big improvement (more stable and quicker ?)
Last point, how fast and stable is GPS on WM6.5 (using Tom Tom 7), since I am experiencing problem with my actual ROM WM6 Black & Blue 4.3 (have to "soft-reset" my HTC each time before to launch Tom Tom 7, otherwise is losing satellites after a few seconds...).
Thks a lot, Fred
=> Is it still true with the last ROM released ?
The memory management with every new build that comes out seems to be better and better. So as compared to the first beta builds, the latest RTM builds are much zippier.

There are many ROMS out there based on 'official' 6.5 builds. The phones that ship with 6.5 have builds from the COM2 branch which have the old interface, but we also have official builds of 6.5.1, which is a COM 4 branch, and which has GUI improvements.
....it was also my doubt: how is possible that there are already so many cooked wm6.5 roms, if microsoft released it officially only yesterday?
Which is the starting point for this roms?
Some wm6.5 rom for developers?
Finally, one question directly for randythered:
I read on your sign that you "participate" to the project wm6.5 base...what is it?
And also that you include in your roms
RtR Base Version1
RtR Base Version 2
RtR Manila v1.0
RtR WM 6.5 Base v2.0 (Build 23052)
Which are the differences and which you would suggest to a "newbie" that is still running the official HTC wm6 rom?
Thank you in advance!
PS: I've seen also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567864
that increase my confusion
Please help me!
Thanks!!
The builds that have been coming out have been leaked out by trusted sources. Check out Development & Hacking forum.
Project 6.5 Base is what I was working on, the ROM is ready so I have to change my sig now
All those are the ROMs that I have cooked. RtR Base V2 is WM 6.1 Clean ROM, with minimal add on apps.
RtR Manilla 1.0 is a M2D ROM, similar to the HTC Touch Viva.
RtR 6.5 Base is a clean 6.5 ROM, with the latest build of 6.5 and very few add on apps for faster ROM.
The ArteMEGA is the latest ROM i've cooked, it's got software from the recently launched HTC MEGA.
If you want to flash a new ROM you have to unlock your phone first by flashing USPL. Then you can flash any ROM of your choice!
So, just to summariza, I should install:
1) RtR Manilla 1.0 if my first wish is to have the Manila (diamond style) user interface
2) RtR 6.5 Base is I don't care about HTC propetary interface, and I want the last microsoft wm with its features...light and stable since is a base.
3) ArteMEGA if I want the last microsoft wm as well as the last HTC user interface and I don't care toom uch about speed...
IT is correct?
Thanks in advance!!
Yes, that is indeed correct.
I was just going to reply with a "Yep. " but xda thinks that's too short

not quite, cause my ultralight version is speedier
come on randythered...i am still waiting
greetz
Hahaha I have to admit 31 MB program memory is WOW!
Don't know if I'll be able to manage that, but I'll definitely give it a go
Thanks for your answers !
Just to know, does the release number "23060" for the ROM W 6.5 base is a good way to know if it's clean/last version ?
Do you have a W6.5 ROM with French language support to recommand (clean / stable / speedy !) ?
Rgds, Fred
All builds are the same, it's the cooks job to make it as speedy as possible. As far as I know, the 23060 and 23420 builds have some issues with the dialog buttons, but these have been adressed. Read the latest builds thread for more info.
It's many days when Microsoft final version of Windows 6.5 is out and can someone tell me when it will be available for Trinity?
Officially HTC will never publish 6.5 ROM update for Trinity since this upgrade will only be made for few newer devices and Trinity is not among those. There are many versions (builds) of 6.5 much like there are many versions (builds) of 6.1 WinMo. Start experimenting with few 6.5 ROM made here until you find one that best suites you and your needs.

Well I have already ported the latest COM3 branch build (23071) for Trinity/P3600i, I just haven't posted any ROMs from it yet as I am currently overhauling my kitchen (although I am running my p3600i on it right now).
But here are the 23071 SYS+ROM files and you can combine them with any of the ervius Visual Kitchens that are available for Trinity (Tomme, SuperSport, Chanvi, etc ... take your pick).
Cook up a 23071 rom of your choosing
Hello everyone,
As seen in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411154 we can emulate custom roms but it seems that we cant emulate wm 6.5 and above roms yet.
Since wm 6.5.3 sdk is released now can anyone make a similar rom kitchen like above for this sdk through which we can test our custom roms, and about memory it wont be a problem i think coz the sdk is more huge this time the english version is about more than 240 mb. And it comes with build 23090 (considered wm 6.5.3 by ms).
Here is the thread link for the wm 6.5.3 sdk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622320
