just got my tilt 2 and immediately flashed to a new rom (erasers latest HTC rom) and the text messaging would not work at all. wasn't sure if it was a rom issue but I loaded energys pheonix 2 on there (standard version) and the same problem. what should I do next? mess with the connection settings or load a new radio or a new rom or what?
thanks in advance, I am a huge noob but I am loving the phone so far (besides this minor hiccup)
bump for some help... someone give me some advice before I start throwing new radios on here!
Bump in the house
Tilt 2 means you are in the US?
I got kind of similar problem - I can't send messages to contacts. If I enter the number instead of picking the contact it works fine AND if I enter a number wich is stored as a contact it displays the name in the "to" field... Quite strange.
I got all my contacts in Outlook International format (that means +49 (0123) 123456789). I guess it's about that. On EPS Advanced ROM it was possible to edit the number after picking a contact (delete the 0 from (0123)) and it worked. This is no longer possible with Energy Leo ROM and now DeepShining ROM.
How are your contacts saved? Maybe you have the same problem (but that doesn't explain why you can't receive messages...). You might try Josh's ROM for example, it contains the correct Radio!

what should I do? return the phone?? install the stock rom and take it to ATT? this is starting to suck since I have had it since Friday and it hasnt worked.
yeah take it back and tell them it isnt working. Get a new phone. Might be a hardware issue.
sorry guys, turns out it was an issue with ATT. went to the store and resolved it and now I am loving the phone. thanks for the help though, I have been worrying about this for the last 4 days, good to have it resolved.

All our technical advice couldn't have helped this issues as it was a background service glitch......Good to hear it's all settled...
I cleared out all my sms/mms messages and I still have the icon saying I have one new txt, when I go to the inbox I see no new messages but it still won't clear, any suggestions?
I saw this thread after almost starting one similar. Im currently on Simplicity and cant send or receive mms messages either, but it works fine with the stock att rom. Wat do i need to do to get it to work on simplicity?

Hello all,
Before I get the standard turn off your wifi warning, it is already turned off. I have tried using GSM modes and 3G and neither are delivered MMS messages (I have a data plan and an unlimited messaging plan, so that is not the issue.)
What I believe the issue is after reflashing the ROM with what seems to be a fantstic ROM, I have no GSM servers listed in SMS/MMS settings. So.. my question is this. What are the GSM servers so that I can plug them in manually? I don't know where to look for that information, and have tried searching the forums with no luck.
My information..
Provider: AT&T (CT)
ROM: Josh's Professional Rom: full (I would of posted the link to the ROM but I guess my account has yet to be verified to do so )
Heard you the first time.

I am running cm7 final but I have been having the opposite problem, I can send but there are some I can't receive. When I have this issue the mms is usually coming from a person not on the Sprint network ...
If you're having issues sending/receiving mms, try the following.
Using adv launcher, create a shortcut to custom activity.
Specifically, settings/*apn*. I can't remember the exact name, but you'll have to navigate the list of junction points when you do the settings pull down.
Once created, go ahead and tap on the shortcut. You'll see 2 apn settings. One will have sprintpcs.com in the MMSC field, the other wont.
For the one that does not, scroll down to APN type. Change the parameter in that field to 'default' (small letters without the quotes).
For the other one, change it to 'mms'
Reboot. You should be good to go.

Took me about 2 minutes total to find this! I don't know why people don't use the search feature on here....is FREE!!! NO CHARGE AT ALL!!!

Read post 6321 and that will solve this MMS problem!
Not trying to sound like an ass and if I am then that's fine because I know I am BUT it took you longer to post your question on here then it would of taken you to search for it in the right place.
Why do people call a release that still has issues and needs special fixes, stable?

Well......is kind of like comparing peanuts to apples here BUT take Windows for example! Windows gets released right?! Well is suppose to be BUG FREE and completely sable correct? WELL it isn't! Not every rom on here is 100% BUG FREE and it needs updates/little things fix from time to time because not every phone acts the same way to every rom! CM7 works flawlessly on my phone but as you can see, dude has issues with his MMS! Not trying to start an argument or anything on here BUT don't act all high and mighty because you're using a sense rom where things happen to work a bit better!
It takes bigger balls to do something completely different like an AOSP rom then just play around with .PNGs and call it a ROM! I could take a sense rom and use it as a base and change a couple of things, add some wallpaper and upload it but am I going to?...NO!!...because that's just stupid!
I'm not acting all high and mighty. I just happen to be using a sense ROM now. I've ran CM, too. And Miui, et al.... Like I told someone yesterday, when I buy a new car, I don't need to add things to make the lights go on, or do some fanangling to make the wipers work. MMS is a basic feature of the phone. The basics, like GPS, etc, should work by default, not because you have to type some weird code into you dialer, oh, and do it on another type of mod first, then flash back to CM......

exactly! im not sure why cm7 was finaled, too many bugs yet compared to the deck rom or salvage-mod rom which both are 100% functional.
I'm not getting what you guys are saying about bugs. I have experienced none. Mms, GPS, wimax all work out the box.

Called tech support. They've no idea what it is.
Went into Sprint and had techs assess it. No idea. Manager has never seen code.
Switched ROMs from CM 7.0.2.1 to MikG to see if ROM was affecting it. Nope.
Unable to send/receive SMS and make/receive calls. Data fully functional in all aspects (1x, 3G, 4G, GPS, WiFi).
Intermittent issues yesterday. Can't do any SMS or calling period today.
Any idea?

You say you switched ROMs? So I would assume you wiped everything.
Which would be
System/Data
Dalvik
Cache
Boot
Android Secure
And everything else besides ext partition and your SD right?
Now let's trouble shoot this problem. Have you tried installing an OTA ROM? If not, wipe your phone completely and install an OTA rooted Rom.
As you are doing this, I will research on this problem.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Also have you attempted reprogramming your phone? I remember someone having this problem a long time ago and someone suggested dialing *228
Found the article. The number is indeed *228, but this was for the Droid Eris, so a different carrier. But dialing *228 fixed the problem.
Ignore the previously mentioned. It seems it may be for Verizon only.
EDIT#2
Good god I just read you can't make phone calls. So before we start messing with these codes, have you updated radios at all? If not, try to do so after doing the first step I requested you to do.
EDIT#3
This seems to have to do with your phones provisioning. Try provisioning your phone, it seems that has worked for others whom have had the problem.
To do this you will need to call sprint to do the provisioning process. So if wiping your phone does not work along with reinstalling a rooted OTA, try this.

@DDiaz007:
I had not installed an OTA ROM and I had read elsewhere about the *228 code and was quite sad when it was for Verizon only, considering those people were having the precise errors I was having.
I ended up calling into Advanced Tech at Sprint as per someone's advice in the IRC for Evo. Forgot the guy's name, wish I could give him credit here.
Solution was:
##231465#
Edit Mode
MDN: Should be current phone number. If not, correct it.
MSID: Should be number AT will tell you you should have. If not, correct it to such. If it already is, change number to some other 10-digit number, commit modifications. Reenter this edit mode by same means and change back to number AT said it should be, commit modifications. It required a reboot for me to acquire service again after changing that number and changing it back, but both SMS and voice now work flawlessly for me. Hell, maybe faster than before!
Thank you for your continued persistence in helping me solve my problem, though. I really appreciate it.

I tried to get into service mode by code? wrote upper, but no menu appeared.
Bump for a solution for this problem...
I am currently running the fresh rom 4.3.3 by flipz and constantly receiving this message. I have tried resetting the phone...doing a full wipe of the phone and doing a clean install of the rom.
This problem Also occured on the Team Nocturnal's 4.67 OTA Rom with the updated radios and updated OTA kernel...I have recently gotten an Airave howver, this problem was happening about 2 weeks prior to getting my Airave.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

What is your current build? (Rom, kernel, etc.)
What have you changed?
Have you edited any settings via dial codes?
How do you know it wasn't a rom change?
Are you reading these questions?
Have you talked to Sprint at all on this?

I have changed from stock to custom, funked around with a few different roms, from AOKP and an all black one (can't remember which) then to the Blu Kuban for a while now.
I think I did touch something in the dial codes. But for the life of me I can't even remember why I would have in the beginning
I guess I don't know if it was rom related or not.
I am lol
and I haven't cause I know the problem doesn't lie there. Have to expend all of my available options before I call them.
Also, I'm not 'techically' Sprint, but Credo Mobile. This company leases service from Sprint.
There's the problem - you're on an MVNO.
1) Go to phone and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
2) Go to Edit and enter MSL
3) Go to Others and then MMSC URL
4) Change from mms.sprintpcs.com to mms.plspictures.com
This should restore MMS.
I don't follow, what caused that? You identified it rather readily.
Upon trying to edit in the phone code ##DATA#
I'm prompted to enter a MSL and only given numbers.

MVNOs don't use the same server as Sprint to send MMS messages.
The default for MVNOs (like mine, KDDI Mobile) is plspictures.com instead of sprintpcs.com
There are exceptions to the rule but this is most likely the same for you.
To get your MSL download Terminal Emulator and do the following (case senstive)
1) su
2) getprop ril.MSL
This should produce a 6 digit code - this is your MSL. Also should solve your current problem.
Yusssssssss!
So stoked, you my friend, are a savior and a genius! I don't care what no one says about ya lol. I thought it would be something uber simple cause of my weird carrier. What would have went and changed that might you reckon? Cause it did work at one point in time.

2. Touch 'Get my MSL' button

The one I know that will do it are the full restore one click packages. I've tested the nodata versions on the missus' phone and it seems to hold. Can't say for custom ROMs but likely you'll have to change after flashing.
Glad that fixed it for you!

I did use one of those in my history, well before I settled on this beauty. It'll be one of the things I'll have to bear in mind. I did update but then I restored back, I messed something up. I'll check to see if it does funk with the picture messaging with the flashing of a new rom.

1- There is no dialer pre-installed on the tablet, I found a google dialer.apk, but is crashes anytime I want to make a call, do I need to install any other apk to make calls?
2- If I want to install any of the roms on this forum, would any rom for the SM-T805 work or do I need a rom specifically for the SM-T805W? Same goes for the recovery image, the recovery images for the T805 work on the T805W?
Thank you!

Ive looked for specs for t805w and theres only specs for t805 which i have, i mean they look exactly the same, its a small risk and someone may disagree but out of the interest in bypassing that kind of a restriction it woyld be worth testing and could help many others in future, if anything goes wrong ill guide you into restoring it back to how it was....but yeah if youve done this before you should be fine..,just make a backup first though is all i advise.
Hey I'm running a t805w on the Bell network and haven't had a single issue using anything designed for the t805. I'm currently running supersamsung rom with skyhigh kernel and philz recovery. Lte works great, but voice calls are a no go. Supersamsung rom has the dialer preinstalled, but trying to dial out causes a force close. Sms works fine. Not sure if the lack of voice calls is because of the tablet, or if it could be carrier related. Maybe someone with more knowledge could add some insight. As always perform a backup (including efs) before flashing anything.
There you go m8 confirmation all works ok from other roms...shame about dialling calls though...if its capable physically of 3g lte n so on, n shows network, then the only logical conclusion is the basic firmware of the phone, as in pre kernal level.,the bios basically, theyve done something...now...cloning a t805 bios to a t805w maybe devs??? Lmao never gonna happen, but yeah sammy have restricted it with software, unless theres a physical difference that makes an antenna pick up 3g,lte, send txts but no calls regardless of firmware which i doubt then thats my opinion.
Just confirming for anyone else looking for this, I've flashed twrp 2.7.1.1 (for the T805), and recovery works as it should.
I can also confirm that even with a T805 rom, calls are not working. In te call logs, I see all calls I tried to make as canceled, dialing brings me directly to the call ended message.
Thank you all for your support!

Hi, I used the WEPHONE app and the dialer and 805 worked great, good audio as good as land line, in Canada cost p/m is $0.005. Bell blocked dial out and texting at my request because they texted me about 9 times and then charged 20 cent per message, apperently they did not make enough money on the contract. I never tried to use it as a cellphone though. My Contact list worked as well with the wephone app
