A GPS tracking and voice navigation utility economizing the battery charge for Windows Mobile 5 or newer.
Suitable for hunters, fishers or other adventure finders: allows to walk straight to the target point with free hands according to the voice pointers, having your PDA in a pocket with the switched off screen and saving the battery charge on the way.
Stupid looking in the display on the way is not really needed anymore.

A navigation is provided not by GPS's course info that needs to run rather quickly to understand the actual course, but via calculation of the course from your current point to the target point just by the GPS coordinates.
There are lots of free simple navigation utilities like this, but ... how many voice navigation software with the special battery's economy do you know ?
GPS connection is realized via the built-in operating system software driver that is available starting MS® Windows Mobile 5 version (and higher: WM6, 6.1…). This allows to use this program at the same time with other GPS navigation software that may require GPS connect via GPS module’s serial port.
Functions:
* Saving the target point (the voice navigation will lead to it)
* Navigation to the selected point with voice directions, with the switched off display
* GPS connection may be chosen in ECONOM mode: 20 seconds per each 2 minutes. Slow walk allows such rare connection.
NOTE: switch the display off only by program's menu, not by PDA's hardware button that makes PDA fully sleeping.
* Indication of battery charge % and satellites number online
* Voice alert about the lost GPS signal and low battery ( less than 25%)
* STOP button if non-pressed locks the program exit: locking PDA from occasional hardware OK-button (if your PDA has it) pressing in a pocket when the display is off
* Option: speed in miles per hour, distance in yards (meters are by default)
Requirements: WM5, WM6 with Compact .NET 2.x or newer (.Net CF 3.5x for PDA)
Download .CAB: http://pmaker.biz/software/BeBack_v.1.3EN_PPC.ARM.CAB
Shareware with no time limit: without registration only one point with navigation around 300 m is allowed.

Android version is also available on the market or home-page.

Hello out dare,
This is my first release of the GPS Logger, a GPS tracking program.
Please try it and let me know if you like it
Rob
https://sites.google.com/site/radapplications/home/gps-logger
The program:
The primary feature of the program is to record and log waypoints, this can be a single point or more than one, in that case the output wil be a track containing more points.
Features:
Current position
The number of satellites
The interval (in seconds) before the next GPS location is determined
(When the device is cradled and charging, the interval is always 1 second)
The current speed you are going
The altitude, comparison with sea level
The number of points recorded for a track (or 1 if a single waypoint has been selected)
Afterwards, when you open the created KML files in the explorer, it will start the associated program Google Maps (if you have it on your device) and show the logged waypoints.
Options:
Start GPS automatic
If selected the GPS is automatic connected when the program starts
Start logging automatic
If selected the logging is started immediately when the program starts
Keep the device active
If selected the device is kept alive by means of the 'KeepAlive' program call and setting the Backlight to ON
Go to today screen when logging
If selected the device is switched to the today screen when logging starts
I added this option when using the program in combination with Wisbar Advance Desktop where I use the a 'Lock Page' as today screen.
In that screen all keys are locked and via the registry I can monitor the status of the GPS logger program.
Track output format ...
GPX eXchange
Google Earth KML
TomTom route
Waypoint output format ...
GPX eXchange

Hi rapvanbrunschot, this looks like a great tool!
I'm going to try it on my HTC S740 with WM6.1 Standard.
edit: it doesn't work yet, I get the following error:
Basic4ppc
Error loading program. NotSupportedException
But I'm sure you'll find a way to fix it

Hi chillout,
I think it occurred because you try to install the program, intended for touchscreen ion th smartphone without touch availability.
I would have to rewrite it in order for you to be able to use it :>
I wil think about it.
Regards, Rob
A very useful application of this type. Thanks. Like I would have liked that the application to run in the background with the lights off to save battery, and recording rate to be at a second. Best regards, gXg.

A new update is now online for Windows Mobile users. This update allows you to share your workouts on Twitter and Facebook without having to visit the website.
Here’s what is changed in the new version:

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The sharing screen
Added Twitter and Facebook integration. If you choose to upload your workout when it’s completed, you’ll be taken to the “Share” screen where you have the option of checking “Facebook” and/or “Twitter” and pushing the left button to post a link. If you don’t want to share them immediately, you can access this screen using the “Options” menu while viewing your workout data.
For Twitter, you’ll need to provide your Twitter username and password at the share screen. You can check “Remember me” to avoid having to enter them again. You can also enter your own text, where “[link]” will be replaced with the link to your workout on SportyPal.com.
You don’t have to enter anything for Facebook, but you do need to connect your SportyPal account to your Facebook account before posting. This post contains instructions on doing this.
The “Upload” button in your workout details no longer goes away after you upload, which means that you no longer have to use the rather awkward re-uploading method from previous versions.
SportyPal should now notify you after uploading a workout if a newer version is available.
The workout’s starting time is now used as the official workout time (used to be the end time).
Fixed the NullReferenceException upload bug. You should be able to upload all of your workouts now. If not…
Drastically reduced memory usage. This should put an end to the memory issues that high-res device users have been experiencing.
Fixed a bug in native GPS mode which would cause it to register failure even when it shouldn’t. This made it impossible for some users to use native mode.
Fixed a crash in the workout details screen that occurred when you scrolled through both free-style and non-free-style workouts using the d-pad.
The proxy bug should be gone for good now.
The d-pad buttons on landscape-screen Windows Mobile Standard devices are no longer mixed up when selecting a button from the status bar.
Added some bits to help keep the GPS chip online in case the device goes to sleep or the user presses the power button.
The tracking map now centers itself during the workout.
Fixed a (very rare) scenario that would cause the user’s e-mail address to be rejected during registration due to a null-terminating character being added at the end of every text box.
Fixed a scenario that would cause all uploads by a device to be rejected due to the device’s (or the device manufacturer’s) name containing illegal characters.
Added automatic language recognition for Czech.

The application it is very useful as it is, but the main differences are on their web service i think. Lot of utilities for goals, data, performances are free.
There is an existing thread for this software located here... Sporty Pal

So, hello everyone it's been a while.
For those who wonder what the heck is this guy,
I made this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/themes-apps/edge-navigation-bar-button-t2950486
Anyhow, let's get to the point.
I've been around making this app... called 'On the Edge of the World', or 'the Edge of the World', or 'World Edge' to shorten a lot.
For now, it's quite simple. It basically works in three steps.
1.When loaded,(that is user swipes edge panels and World Edge shows up), it checks gps location.
2.Then it retrieves google maps image from online and shows the image on the edge panel
3.Also, it writes down the address of current location.
I have fooled my phone so that it thinks that I am at the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Island.
See the image below of the prototype I have worked on.

GPS locations are not re-called automatically after once it's loaded due to battery issue.
You can refresh your GPS location manually by clicking that Compass icon below, though.
(Yes, it's the icon from Safari. Sorry Jobs, I have always been shameless about stealing great icons.)
So that's basically it, at least for now.
What do you think? Too gimmicky?
What kind of functionality does this app need to become a killer-app?
Let me know.
Reserved just in case
Good work again. And what about battery use?
Possibly a GPS navigation system using just the edge with voice prompts. It can display an arrow when you need to turn(flashing arrow for a hundred meters or so) and have the voice telling you where to go. Make sure it has downloadable maps so it doesn't cost using wireless internet.
Good enough idea for you?

Similarly to the Google Maps micro on Wear? I could get down with that!
Love the idea, can't wait to see it in action!
What is SideSqueeze?
SideSqueeze is an innovative and unique app that uses the barometric pressure sensor in your device to detect squeezes and screen presses. It is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, although some people have reported varying degrees of success with Pixel devices.
What It Does
SideSqueeze gives your S8/S9/S10 series Galaxy the ability to respond to squeezes, double squeezes, triple squeezes, quadruple squeezes, long squeezes, and/or inertial squeezes, as well as force presses on the screen. For example, you can double squeeze your phone to activate Google Assistant...or maybe you'd like to quadruple squeeze to toggle auto-rotation. And now with Tasker integration, you can even create elaborate tasks to do just about anything and trigger them with any type of squeeze! SideSqueeze's new modular GUI allows you to pick and choose what you want to do with ease.
Features (not all available in trial version)
7 detectable squeeze types (single, double, triple, quadruple, long, long double-squeeze, and inertial)
3 detectable press types (single, long, and 2-finger)
Independently selectable criteria allow you to assign multiple actions to any trigger type (if lockscreen open, if homescreen open, if camera open, if S-Pen detached, if within 5-seconds of power on, if the phone is ringing, if in-call, or if screen is off)
New app picker to launch any app of your choosing
Tasker integration to launch any task of your choosing
Quick Settings tile to toggle detection engine
Wide selection of common actions, such as flashlight toggling, status bar toggling, etc
Adjustable pressure thresholds
Calibration assistant to customize SideSqueeze to your device's unique characteristics
Efficient detection algorithm that is designed to be as lightweight and low-power as possible with no significant impact on battery life
Questions?
See the in-app Help section for answers to commonly asked questions.
Where do I get it?
SideSqueeze 2 is now available on the Play store!

Version 2.07 (just released to the store last night) offers better reliability and faster response-time, especially when "Disable baseline verification" is set (checked) on the settings panel (go to the About or Help tab, tap the gear icon on the top-right corner). Also, SideSqueeze is on sale for $1.99 through July 13th!
I'm interested, but no comments here or feedback on the Play Store since July is concerning.
Thought this type of thing needed specialised hardware built into the phone don't understand how this would work properly.
