Help (explanation) - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Most of you guys will probably be realy pist off with this thread but please if anyone could help just a little.
I'm new with all this (rom flashing, manila, sense etc.), so if anyone could explain how to put on new manila and witch programs do I need I would be realy gratefull. I tryed just to install the .cab file and it didn't do anything. I didn't get what maxmanila is. Is it a program or some new way to code the manila. If you don't waste your time to write about it please give a link to something where a could find my answers.
sorry if the tread gets some one angry but I just couldn't find information about this things.

Generally the only way to get a new manila is to flash to a rom with the manila cooked in (I understand for some devices it is possible to get a cab to change manila, but I haven't seen this for the HD).
Read the Dummies Guide to Flashing on how to flash to a new rom. Post any additional questions you may have in that thread.
MaxManila is a theme which allows you to change the appearance of the manila interface by changing clocks, settings to make sliders auto hide etc.

I want to do that (change apperance) for start, witch program do I need do do that after I download the theme? I read dummies guide and i intend to flash my rom if the theme changing ain't be good, but first I want to try to change the theme but a got lost in all those .cab-s but non explanation how to put it on (it's probably not hard but I'm new so everything is hard to me for now, a the main thing is that I'm afraid I?m going to screw up my phone)

Well the opening line in the 1st post of MaxManila states:
Here's a treat for those who has already flashed the latest Manila 2.5 ROM from Miri 7.1, Dutty Leo R2, Latest Energy ROM and PhamQuang v59 onwards.

So you need to flash the rom first to a manila 2.5 based rom in order to try it out.
There are other tweaks and themes that you can use with the stock rom. What would you like to change in terms of appearance?
If you follow the Dummies Guide and take it step by step it is not difficult to flash your rom. As with everything in life there is a risk, but it is very difficult to totally screw up the device and you should always be able to recover. So as long as you follow the guidance and advice you will be ok.

WM6 - which rom!

Hiya everyone,
I'm a bit of a noobie when it comes to flashing phones - but I'm really wanting to get a stable reliable version of WM6 on my Tytn. I've had the HTC Offical WM6 ROM (that keeps hangin when the phone goes to sleep - have to SR to get the phone working again), I've tried Black Satin (the WiFi/new Com Manager doesn't seem to work very well).
There seems to be tonnes of different ROMs - and I'm wondering is there one that stands out above the rest for reliability?
I've done a search and not found the answer to this - so anyone with any info....?
Ta people
A
My best recommendation is READ the threads on the different roms.
The comments on them will give you a good idea of how the ROMs are running on people's phones.
The Best Rom Ever:
Schap's 3.57a, or any ROM proudly made by Schap's.

I'd have to agree with this except for one minor thing.....BB Connect will not work with Schap's Rom.
Anyone willing to Hex Edit it and make it work? I PM'd Schap however I'm assuming he's already flooded with requests.
I guess we can help by suggesting things you may want to look out for:
Only some of these may/may not be important to you...
BBConnect compaitibility
Big Storage, Free RAM & Storage
Smart Dialling
3G Video Dialling
Office Version (They're all pretty much 2007 now, but not all have OneNote)
BT issues - Stereo, DUN vs/and Internet Sharing
Included apps, Standard File Explorer
Included Dialpad style & functions, Kaiser/std ?
Included CommManager & Style
Speed & Stability
MMS/SMS combins (Arcsoft Version)
Included operator settings?
Included Homescreens - HTC Weather etc etc
VOIP functionality
PTT functionality
I'm sure there are loads more...
Lets turn this thread into something useful. Rather than this rom is better than that, etc, lets help the Noobs by adding to this list of things they may want to consider.
my £0.02.
i've tried most, and i'd definitely go for schap's, preferably 3.57

All current ROMs ( and you do want to run the latest, as 99% ROMs released before June have issues ) on this forum are based on the same release. So technically speaking they are all same. The difference is added / removed applications and how well this was done.
Regarding BBC - even if the ROM does not state the compatibility - it is a matter of 4 simple steps to make it compatible. 1) Download the ROM file, unrar it to desktop - you'll get 2 files extracted .exe and .nbh ( RUUWrapper.exe RUU_signed.nbh ) 2) Run winhex ( http://www.x-ways.net/ ) and load the .nbh file, HEX search for the first string in my signature and replace it with the second string. There is going to be 2 occurences you'll have to replace. Save the .nbh file 3) execute the .exe file to flash the .nbh ROM file to your device 4) after the flash use a registry editor to change [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Versions] "Aku"=".2.3.0"
Of course you have to be careful and all disclaimers apply
If this is over your head - just PM me.

Definitely not over my head......and THANK YOU for putting it in simple steps.
I've read thread upon thread upon thread here trying to figure out how to do this and there is just so much information, it's almost too much and too confusing at times.
I'll post back whether or not I was successful!

Hmmm......doesn't seem to work. It looked like it connected the first time after booting up and setting up my Rogers info.....but then it wouldn't connect again.

Diamond ROM Cooking questions

Dear All,
After messing around with the tweaks here on the forum, I wanted to build my own ROM.
I want it to be:
-Fast (With the known registry tweaks)
-Stable
-Graphically nice
-With the apps I like
-To have Dutch language, with an extra WWE-XT9
-With the latest OS version (.721)
My plan to do this is:
-Get a good (modded-) BaseROM (I have SkippyCentraal 2.8 in mind)
-Remove all unwanted programs
-Exchange the OS.nb (128Mb, .273) with the extracted OS.nb (.721) from a different (non-Dutch) firmware
-Cook it together and flash it to my Diamond
-Make registry changes
-Dump my own (cooked and tweaker .721-) ROM
-Compile again
-Post it here ;-)
Is this just the way it works? I have just read Lolek47's Tutorial Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413782
and it seems that simple?
Please advice...
Thanks in advance!
BR Bart

When I saw the tutorial I thought it is simple. But when really doing it, it is not that simple: my cooked ROM's (so far all of them) aren't even starting up. Hangups all over the place.
My advice to you is: find a good kitchen and just do it. Eventually you wil cook a decent working ROM. But don't expect to do it in a few days (like I did)
BUMP!
ive got the same plan as burdie!
But just in the WWE language, somebody knows a good tutorial?
would really like it!
yourz,
ruubs
I can offer some advice, coming from cooking on a Kaiser:
I think everyone would like to make a ROM with all those things listed While it may not be impossible, it may take quite some time tweaking it just the way you want it
1. You can't use any ROM as a base ROM unless it is chef-friendly. This means that all the .dsm and .rgu files are included. If they aren't, I'd recommend starting from scratch on the latest or most stable base ROM
2. Removing programs should be easy, because all the Diamond's are organized in .dsm files instead of all being dropped in the OEMAPPS folder like the Kaiser
3. I don't really see the point of having a WWE XT9 dictionary with a dutch ROM, care to explain. Also, what are you trying to do with replacing the OS.nb?
4. I'd not recommend dumping the ROM off your diamond then compiling it. Why would you go through all that trouble when you could just make the registry tweaks you want and then cook it up?
i'd be glad to elaborate on any more of these or answer any other questions you have

Problem with Manila

To all brothers
I dont understand of Manila
Im using HTC HD, newbies here
i had try to read so many subject regarding manila in this forum
and try to download some programe that i need
but i found that there is nothing change with my phone
issit we need to install first a main file before install the add on?
by the way, whats is the different of the dusk manila and manila?
or maybe brothers can guide me in installing the manila when 1st usage
thanks a lot
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you're trying to update manila? Maybe from the stock one to 2.1 or 2.5? If that's the case, then you have to do it by flashing to a custom ROM which has the new manila (there are no cabs/programs which will install a different version of manila).
Dusk is just a theme (skin) for manila. In order to apply it, you need the corresponding version of manila that is needed.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Custom ROM Request?

Sorry if this is the wrong section, but since its about a ROM..
After some hours of taking kitchens and trying to learn to cook ROM's myself, No ROM seemed to get passed the initial setup stage.. So I'm obviously going wrong somewhere... While I continue to read tutorials and learn more. I'm afraid I may brick my device by flashing a wrongly built ROM.
So until I learn the sacred art of cooking awesome ROM's I would like to ask:
Would be willing to cook a custom ROM for me?
I can send a donation(via Paypal)
If anyone would do this, here's how I'd like the ROM..
Base Idea:
WM6.5.3 or 6.5.5 (The fastest/most stable 6.5.x)
HTC Sense 2.5
Cookie Home Tab V2
Apps Included in the ROM:
QuickGPS
Opera 10
S2U2
Slide2Shutdown
CorePlayer v1.3.6
Palringo (Lastest Version)
Extra:
Facebook Tab in Sense
Battery Percentage in top bar (Like this picture - http://i33.tinypic.com/156tjqx.jpg)
I used "EnergyRom with sense2.5" and really like it but it was too slow and bloated for the way I like it to be
Making something as good as that but with nothing in the ROM apart from the things I stated above (and things which can't be removed) I would be very much appreciated and send a donation to you, If you help me!
For anyone interested in doing this, Reply here!
Thanks Very Much
-Dave
Wouldn't Let me attach this to the previous post.
I have 'zipped' up all the cabs for the apps to be in the ROM... Incase they are needed!
Why dont you try this kitchen. Its got everything ready to cook inside. Just you can swap the builds

KITCHEN
http://www.4shared.com/file/140666081/84784956/deepshining_Kitchen_23017-R201.html
The simplest way to get the hang of kitchen is to make sure everything is working by default. SO this is how i started to cook on my own without boot problems
1. Download any of the kitchen (Gen.Y kitchen recommended)
2. Extract the contents to C:\XDA (Recommended)
3. Run the ervius.exe
4. Load any ROM profiles created by the Chef (profiles will be saved in *.erv format in \Tools\Saved Roms
***NOW take a GOOD LOOK at the packages that have been selected to enable the builds...the applications...the sense 2.5 and tweaks
5. DONT TRY TO DE-SELECT or REMOVE package/any files now. You can do this after step 6
6. Press Create and enjoy some coffee or whatever you like till the rom is created.
7. Once nbh is created, flash it to your device.
*** Dont close the kitchen yet***
8. Note down in your memory / notepad what you want to remove from this chef's ROM
9. Go back to kitchen start removing stuffs like Applications Only. This way you dont mess with SYS or XIP first
10. There are some essential stuffs in SYS that shud not be removed.
11. If you want to remove SQM from SYS...you shud enable DummySQM
this will be provided in kitchen and so when you load the chef's profile...the SQM wud have been disabled by default
Once you get the hang of it...enjoy...
Btw i recommend you start with Gen.Y kitchen...this way you can choose a profile with sense 2.5
Hope this helps and save you some money
Awesome! I'll give that a try tonight.
I'm currently using Donsalari's Ultra Lite Sense 2.5 ROM which is really what I'm looking for
Although its only WM6.5 and has start menu at the top, I surprisingly like it that way when using sense
It was a random find, The ROM is fast and has a good 30MB free when running Sense and CHT. Unlike when I was using the EnergyROM I struggled to get 5-7MB free
I think for the moment I'll keep this ROM in my main phone and test out what I do with making my own, on my old Diamond.. (doesn't have a earspeaker, and the battery last about an hour, lol, but still works).

Greeting's!!!

Does this ROM suit my phone....and does ROM upgrade also means upgrading WM6.1 to WM6.5 and if NOT then can u please help me upgrade my ROM and from WM6.1 to WM6.5
Hi again
the easyest way to upgrade you phone with different WM's or radio's and ROM's is, go on this page to the top and hit WIKI, in the wiki go to you phone, on you phone page you will finde everything you need and like to change you entire phone, it is all very nice explaind.
