Go to \windows\startmenu\programs now you can create the new folder there.. and copy the shortcut of the programs that you want to put inside that folder....( from \program file\XXX or \Storage Card\program file\XXX ) XXX being the software folder name
and if you are talking about the how to create an app which would make a newfolder in programs then... you need to change the instalation directory to something like this %ProgramFiles%\XXX... this will create a new folder in the start menu...

HI everyone, I have searched and searched around on the forum to tell me how todo this but have not had any luck!!!
What I want to do is create a shortcut or move a program that did not originally have a .exe file to install itself in the correct directorys on my PDA. This means that the file was and still is just a simple PDA .exe file that you just click on through (for example) file explorer it launches.
Now is there a way of creating a shortcut to show this program in the "Program" folder so it is easier to launch and use??
I'm sure there is and I would greatly appreicate a reply
Keep up the good work people.
Soon we'll be mightier than *icrosoft !!!! :?

The way I did this (don't know if it is the best way but) was with the PPC in the cradle and Active Sync running, clicked explore on Active Sync and created a shortcut in explorer (directly on the pocket device) and then cut and pasted it into the programs folder.
DLC
just copy the exe.file and paste as shortcut into the windows/start menu/programs folder
Nothing more obvious really when you see it

Im running the Vanilla wm6 ROM still on my TyTN and its working great, im not changing to the XDA or other ROMS out. i dont like not having the Word, Excell, and Powerpoint programs in my PROGRAMS.
can someone guide me an easy way to locate them and create the shortcut for them so they are there when i go to PRoGRAMS?
thanks in advance
Go to File Explorer. It should default in your My Documents folder. Click Up once to "My Device." Click Windows. Click Start Menu.
Now you'll see the Start Menu you get when you click Start, along with the Programs and Settings Folders. Click Programs. Click Office. Click and Hold the program of your choice. Choose Copy. Click Up. Now you're back in the Programs Folder. Click Menu-> Edit-> Paste Shortcut.
Repeat this process to copy shortcuts to your Programs folder or your Start menu. (by going up one more level.)
there is no Office in Windows>Start Menu>Programs....
the office apps are located in the windows folder of the vanilla version,
to make shortcuts open file explorer and go to the windows folder, find the office apps (like pworc) copy the app, goto windows/startup/programs click paste shortcut for each one
if this does not makes sense, then read the whole vanilla thread, someone created a cab folder to install the shortcuts for you.
how is this creating shortcuts? looks like you guys are just coping exe files. i'm interesting in creating actual shortcuts. does anyone know if this is possible?

Yes ... eagle just told you how to do it, either that or use the cab file in the wm6 vanilla thread which will do this for you.
Choose "paste shortcut" instead of "paste" to get the shortcut instead of a copy of the exe file.
Does anyone know the .lnk for the Settings folder page? I dont need the one for the folder itself but the one to the regular page showing in icons view Hopefully someone out there understands what Im trying to ask for.
+1
More specifically, is there a LNK that points to the Windows DEFAULT Settings folder, not the Manila Settings (which is HTCSettingsEntry.exe contained in settings.lnk in the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder).
I believe it's going to be something along the lines of ctlpnl.exe... but I can't find the solution.
Anyone???
Just create folder ''Settings'' in Windows\Start Menu folder - restart device and you will have Settings folder back in start menu.

Hope that this are the names as I have a german version.
Don't think it's "ROM Development"... and it's a double post => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408664
And finally, I think that mahsidi should make difference between the program, and a link to it. In Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you'll find only links. If a program that you install don't automaticly create a shortcut in this place, you'll have to create yourself : with Resco, go to the install folder of your prog, tap and hold on the .exe file and then, use the "Send to" fonction (the "Start Menu as Shortcut" item).
I searched over my microSD, and what I found is, in the folder "others" there is a bada application folder, they consist most of the bada app source if I am not mistaken.
So I was wondering, is there a way to change the name of installed apps, for some apps the name is too long and it is not very nice either.
2ndly, can I backup all the files in it. For example asphalt so that the save game is backup?
3rdly, if, just if I flash the whole phone, then I copy the bada apps folder back, will my game show up? Thanks

1. You can change the name of app example: sy7343nds -> Data -> Application.xml (Open with notepad or wordpad) here you can find the name of the Application.
2. I'm honestly do not know but I think yes
3. No

Thanks for the quick reply. So, I was wondering, for no3, all I can do is try to download back whatever I can install. Then replace the new folder with old one? As I figure out the folder no are the same for particular apps.
[edit] just tried out no.1, but I can't find any application.xml

Yes you can, go to xxxxxxxxxx/Info/application.xml where 'xxxxxxxxx' is the code of the app folder and simply change:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<Application>
<Entry>NotImportant</Entry>
<Name>
<English>ChangeThis</English>
</Name>
...
than disconnect, change phone language with what you want and then rechange it restoring your previous one.

Yes you can do it, search in xxxxxxxxxx/Data/ folder, you should find some saves file, the name and the extension depends on the application.

don't know, you should try, problems are:
- where and what is the registry file in question, it is possible that this file is not on the partition visible by stune-tkfileexplorer;
- this registry is probably signed or encrypted;
restoring all the registry folder after a flash could generate many errors of inconsistency and/or could be useless...
