Im running the Vanilla wm6 ROM still on my TyTN and its working great, im not changing to the XDA or other ROMS out. i dont like not having the Word, Excell, and Powerpoint programs in my PROGRAMS.
can someone guide me an easy way to locate them and create the shortcut for them so they are there when i go to PRoGRAMS?
thanks in advance
Go to File Explorer. It should default in your My Documents folder. Click Up once to "My Device." Click Windows. Click Start Menu.
Now you'll see the Start Menu you get when you click Start, along with the Programs and Settings Folders. Click Programs. Click Office. Click and Hold the program of your choice. Choose Copy. Click Up. Now you're back in the Programs Folder. Click Menu-> Edit-> Paste Shortcut.
Repeat this process to copy shortcuts to your Programs folder or your Start menu. (by going up one more level.)
there is no Office in Windows>Start Menu>Programs....
the office apps are located in the windows folder of the vanilla version,
to make shortcuts open file explorer and go to the windows folder, find the office apps (like pworc) copy the app, goto windows/startup/programs click paste shortcut for each one
if this does not makes sense, then read the whole vanilla thread, someone created a cab folder to install the shortcuts for you.
how is this creating shortcuts? looks like you guys are just coping exe files. i'm interesting in creating actual shortcuts. does anyone know if this is possible?

Yes ... eagle just told you how to do it, either that or use the cab file in the wm6 vanilla thread which will do this for you.
Choose "paste shortcut" instead of "paste" to get the shortcut instead of a copy of the exe file.

Don't think it's "ROM Development"... and it's a double post => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408664
And finally, I think that mahsidi should make difference between the program, and a link to it. In Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you'll find only links. If a program that you install don't automaticly create a shortcut in this place, you'll have to create yourself : with Resco, go to the install folder of your prog, tap and hold on the .exe file and then, use the "Send to" fonction (the "Start Menu as Shortcut" item).
Hey Guys,
how can I use installed programs after flashing my ROM? The programs are installed on my storage card and are usable, but I'd like to list them in the WinMo surface again - how can I do that?
Regards,
Broetchen
In File Explorer, go to the app .exe on your storage card and long click on the file. In the pop up menu choose "Send Shortcut to Programs".
Hey Clyde,
don't have "Send Shortcut to Programs" in the WinMo 6.5 context menu!
you could use sashimi to recreate the shortcuts but you would need them there in the first place!
Click and hold on the executable on your storage card and choose copy. go to windows>start menu>programs then click and hold and choose paste shortcut. Your'll then need to rename them to something more sensible. You could then back them up and use sashimi to restore them after a flash.
Sent shortcut to..... is a resco explorer feature, you can copy and paste shortcut with standard explorer and then move your new shortcut to windows/start menu/programs or in a subfolder in there

If you don't have resco, just create a shortcut to app .exe on your storage card and place this shortcut in the following directory using your file explorer
/windows/start menu/programs

Use your file explorer and go to location of app.exe in your storage card. To create shortcut generally you use either your finger or stylus and press and hold it on app.exe file until menu pops up. Then depending on file explorer your using you would have either option to 'send shortcut to programs' or 'create shortcut'
Hey fallen Spartan,
there is none of these two possibilities to select with the normal WinMo 6.5 - integrated FileBrowser!
Do I need to use Resco?

Long hold what you want to create a shortcut to and select Copy.
Browse to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and long hold anywhere in a space and select Paste Shortcut.
I have a folder that contains special office files. I'd like to have a quicklink to this folder on my manila 2.5 quicklinks homescreen, is this possible?

using file explorer or total commander.. something like that make a shortcut of the folder you are talking about. long press the folder and the options should come up to "copy" or while the folder is highlighted select menu and copy.
Using file explorer again then navigate to \my device\windows\start menu
click menu and choose to past shortcut and then you're probably going to want to rename it.
then on your quicklinks you should be able to add it.

I'm trying to do the same thing, but with the link for the traditional "all settings" screen (that I added with BsB). I understand how to add the shortcut to windows\start menu, but I don't know where to find the .lnk that launches it so I can create the shortcut....any ideas..?

Hi all
after some great advice from miami_son I have managed to sort out the mess that was my programs start up page.
sadly i also managed to delete the link file for the file explorer program
try as i might (and being very thick) i cant get it back.
can anyone point me in the direction (or tell me how to do it) to get the file link back
many thanks in advance
Use Total Commander to locate fexplore.exe in the \windows directory and select it with a single click. Click on file in lower left corner of Total Commander to bring up the menu. Click on >>>>>> and then click on create shortcut. Use the tree function to place the file in \windows\startmenu\programs.
Follow Kevin's instructions, works for any .exe file you want to create a shortcut for. But I would just skip creating one for that particular file. For one, Total Commander is a much better file explorer and can do more, and the OEM file explorer can cause you to delete things by accident if you aren't real careful.

I'm not sure, but I think that many programs use the file explorer to open files, rather than opening it themselves. Or at least this appears to be the case.

He didn't delete the program, just the shortcut for it. Once you have Total Commander installed you no longer need the stock shortcut. Like I said, TC is a much better file explorer.
You guys are just brilliant!!!!
Thanks so very much
was on the verge of hard resetting the device to start again!!

The shortcuts (*.lnk files) are located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
The icons for the programs are located (normally) in \Windows.

Any file browser application on the device. File Explorer is on every ROM. You could even do it from your PC if you rather.
Install Total Commander. Unzip file, connect device to PC, run the EXE file.
thanks miami son
am i correct in thinking ( from the advice you gave me about a year ago) that you cant actually delete the program but you can delete the icon file (png?)
thanks all

It sounds like you're just trying to remove some links from your start menu. Is that correct? If it is, then just navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and delete the ones you don't want to appear in the Start Menu. In File Explorer, tap and hold on the one you want to delete until the menu pops up. Select delete and then tap yes. In Total Commander, do the exact same thing. I don't think I can explain that better without making a video of it.
well i would like to delete the progs but I was under the impression that they were installed on the rom and, as such, they cannot be deleted
(certainly when you delete the icon and then do a hard reset the icon re appears)
i will try to combine (my bad) memory and the instructions and see where i can go
thanks all

You can't uninstall apps that are cooked into the ROM whether you use stock or custom ROMs. Deleting the link files as I've instructed will prevent them from showing up in your start menu. If you hard reset, they will be right back where they started.
Thanks for all your help guys
i can start to sort out the phone now
thanks again
Hi,
I have some programs, which after the installation, didn't create a shortcut icon.
Like iGo Primo for example.
I wonder if anyone knows a program or a way to create a shortcut in order to be able to put it on the manila shortcuts?
Thanks.
With file explorer, find .exe file, tap and hold, choose "Copy", go to:
Windows\Start menu\Programs
press Menu-Editing-Paste shortcut.
i'm also interested in Primo shortcut, there is not any other way, just copting the .exe in start menu?i tried with sktools but no luck..
You must make "Copy-Paste shortcut", not "Copy-Paste".
You can use File explorer or Resco explorer.

Hi,
I have Tom Photon ROM and from some reason I cannot make quick link to the "Games" folder.
I tried to do it the same way.. Copy a shortcut to "windows/start menu/programs"
but it didn't work..
Any ideas?
thanks.
Use path:
Windows\Start menu\Games
or create a folder named "Games" in
Windows\Start menu\Programs
have this folder, but it doesn't appear on the shortcuts options on the quick link.
I get this message:
"the file 'Games' cannot be opened. Either it is not
signed with trusted certificate, or one of its components
cannot be found. if the problem persists, try to reinstalling
or restoring this file"
I can't understand if you try to make a shortcut for an app or for a folder.
The folder appeared there already.
I tried also to do a shortcut.
The message I got was for the shortcut.
I cannot link to the folder.
Try to use the shortcut of the game you want.
I already had the "Games" folder.
and I created the shorcut to the folder.
When I try to use the shortcut in the quick links, I get the message above.
Thanks.
I think that you have to use the shortcut of each game, not the folder's one.
Well..
Now that we have 16 shcts, I can afford it..
Thanks any way..
New project!
I want a wifi quick link (for the shcts).
Does anyone know a program that makes this shortcut?
Thanks.
