Re Shuffle the Main XDA Forums - About xda-developers.com

You have a very nice long listed of devices listed on the main forums windows, is there any way they could be shuffled a little based on their popularity? There are some phones that look like they are not too popular near the top and middle and some near the bottom that see a lot of activity. Ok, so I 'm a little biased because I'm a Raphael user, and it is way near there the lower 2/3rds but it does have a lot of activity...

Has been asked many times. But, the answer is the order will not change. Besides, we are all use to the current order We would be lost if it changed

Completly agree!

To get round this problem I simply find the forum I am interested in and save it in my browser as a favourite.
Each time I log on the forum I want is there without me having to scroll through realms of dead forums.
WB

Yea, I bookmarked mine as well. I was just thinking about it one day when I was trying to scroll through on my Fuze to get there to mark it

Alphabetized Phone Listing

Just curious...and yes I tried searching...but why aren't the main forum listings for phones alphabetized?
I thought perhaps it would be most popular but I don't think that's the case...definitely not in order of release date since Diamond isn't either first nor last.
Seriously though...no offense to the gods that intended the forums to flow like they have, I'm really just curious.
I don't understand the order either. But Dear god don't move them.
I finally have it down so that I can Grab the Scroll Bar and stop at the exact spot for the Kaiser.
Lmao...just as long as I'm not alone. Thanks for confirming.
Yes, I'm getting used to it as well but was always wondering why it was the way it was.
Thanks for confirming

Collapse Sections View- Idea

Here is an idea that you could work on. A way to be able to collapse Sections that you do not need. So everything would be placed in a Tree like view, and when you do not want to look at a section. you would collapse it. only having the name there.
Through the coming year the forums are just going to be getting larger and larger, and if you did this, it would cut down on the scrolling people had to do. Would there be any way to do this????
If that is not possible how about splitting down the phones in sub forums for instance by year of release?? I dont know if it can be implemented but if it can would be good as you can find what you want quickly.
I would love this. For most people, there are probably only 1 or 2 device sections that they look at regularly.

No, not like that - that's just an archive. I mean a fully working one with Reply and Quote options etc.
The archive one is good for reference, I guess, but it's no good if you want to participate in discussions from your phone.
That has been put forward to the Admin Team to.

I have a better idea, as long as it's possible. How about letting users customize which phone forum to appear on their page?
Let's say I don't want Touch Pro2 to appear on my screen. If my account is logged it, the Touch Pro2 forums will dissapear, and if I want to make them appear I can re-enable the forum in my Control Panel.

POLL: Have you posted here using the TP2

I have, but I mostly use a PC. The text box used to enter the message can't be 'grabbed' so you have to leave a bit of white background showing.
I'd be very interested to see the results, please vote
I post here all the time using my TP2. In fact, that's what I'm doing right now. What's this "text grabbing" problem you speak off?
Have you ever used your TP2 in the toilet?

If you are zoomed in and all that's visible on the screen is the yellow text box where the post is typed you (at least I) can't scroll across the screen.

That doesn't bother me that much. I just use the zoom bar to zoom back out a bit so that the text box fits the width of the screen.
Yes, sometimes when I´m far for my lap top
I post from my TP2 when replying to a post because I get the messages on my phone and can access the thread directly from the link in the e-mail. Otherwise, it is more convenient to browse the forum from my computer and I usually have a computer around me at all times.

I have a personal policy that forbids that. I never take a phone into a restroom. I like to believe that noone I call or who would call me would take a phone into a restroom either.
Same as Godefroi. I wouldn't use any phone while using a toilet. I've always been grossed out by the people chatting away on their cell while relieving themselves at the urinals in malls and movie theatres. But with this phone I'd be paranoid of it falling into the water. If it somehow survived I doubt I'd ever feel comfortable holding it to my head if the waters were murky so to speak.
As for the actual original purpose of the thread... no. I might someday but haven't yet. In part because I forget my password for the forum around 97% of the time.
I don't really post here on my TP2. As great as the device is the Edge speeds just aren't fast enough for me to click on multiple links.
Oh gawd.... can't believe anyone took it seriously... for those that didn't get it... it was all about pointless polls.

Better question: why the HECK did you decide to create this thread in the DEVELOPMENT forum? Which part of the "myTouch 3G Slide Q&A" forum title did you not comprehend? The 'Q' or the 'A?'

Well I figg that since there isx an obvious diff between two roms wit same hardware it is dev related and why must you be such an ass the root of the question is very much related to the development of roms

In all respect, Hebrew and r0manz have very legitimate reasons for responding the way they did to you and many others who have committed the same error as you did. The Q&A forum is for pretty much all questions, either related to development, or otherwise, because you can pretty much connect any question to some kind of development anyway. The development forum is used specifically for contribution and development to projects like ROMs, scripts, mods, etc, which includes testing and debugging. When you ask a question in the development forum, you're pretty much saying, "I have no intention of starting this project but I'm hoping someone else will do it for me and then show me how to do it." The other thing is that these errors can easily be avoided by reading just a little bit.
The real reason why the developers are leaving these forums are because there are way too many people, and way too many posts, of people wanting things, or even demanding things, without even the slightest hint towards giving back. And I'm sure donations are great, but I get the feeling that more than money, the devs would much rather prefer people to act with common-sense. It's this stupid entitlement that allows people to think they deserve anything the developers offer at all, which is betrayed by the fact that their posts offer nothing in the way of constructive development in return.
So if you stick around long enough, you'll see that pretty much everybody sides with these guys. We'd rather see development on these forums not people talking about development.
Why doesn't my mac mini benchmark as high as my mac pro?!?!?!?! They both run OSX 1.6????

Erm, the Slide has a MSM7227 processor clocked at 600mhz while the Nexus One has a Snapdragon clocked at 1000mhz. It has nothing to do with the devs (who do GREAT work mind you) but the hardware.

I'm hoping English is your second language. FRF91 is only referring to the build of froyo the nexus is currently on and the build our 2.2 is based on. I think you are confused and need to research more before you carry on.

^ You see that? That's a period. It keeps everything from running together. When you finish one thought, and wish to start another one, you use a period. If you are asking a question, you use a question mark (?). If you are excited, you use an exclamation point! Also, commas can be used to list different things, or simply to separate parts of a sentence, as I did in this sentence. Thank you, I hope you take all this under consideration.

And yet you asked a question completely unrelated to development. How peculiar...

what is 5point multitouch good for?

What's the point in 5point? Dotty is the only app I can think of that has anything to do with it. I'm not saying there isn't a reason, I just can't think of any reason other than just to say you have it.
Useless???
Maybe someone will develop an app that uses multi-touch gestures... I suppose that could be handy for some security app or something... I have wondered the same thing and I don't think there will ever be much need for it... At this point, it's just for bragging rights

You can play a five note chord with piano/keyboard app!
I have no clue either, but I thought I've seen around these forums that some games do multiple touches? Maybe not, thought I've seen it here...
"Please show us on the dummy phone the 5 places that the bad man touched you."
Couldn't help myself. Seriously though, 5-point is more a gimic at this point, but somewhere down the road it could be useful.

Rockband/Guitar Hero-like games.
Five-man air hockey.
Bragging rights.
Great for games on any emulator with a d-pad, with more than 2 multitouch points you can walk diagonally and fire at the same time.

honestly,i always get irritated when something is posted in the wrong forum... but its not due to the recent hype here @xda...
anyways, i dont know why but this did not bother me one bit.
Anyways2.0 @ OP. There's a game called NOVA {Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance}. Really similar to Halo... I like it. Well, before I could not be moving around + firing (2 fingers so far) + throw a hand grenade(or jump). Meaning I could only do two of those at the same time.
However, after flashing custom kernels (EPSON 003 no tints), Dotty showed me my device can take all 5 at once [insert sex joke o.0].
Here's the good stuff. Though I can't do all of those things at once... I can do 3 at one time. While running, I can continue to do so, shoot an enemy in the faceheadlolomgwtfs, and clip a 'nade out. So, yea : ) . As far I know, this is undocumented by Gameloft© (not that I checked).
By the way, it is not available in the Android App Market. Find it @ www.gameloft.com [on your device!].

alright. Thanks for the replies. I was just curious about it. And sorry about the wrong forum, I thought about putting it in q&a, but I figured it had to do with evo development so I put it here. But I apologize.
Seems that, as big as the screen is, 5 fingers wouldnt fit right. But for video games I suppose so. Maybe someone will invent a 5 finger tapping app that gives you a score based on accuracy and speed lol.
Thanks again.

certain kernels unlock it, like kingklick's kernel. Only certain phones can have 5 point multi-touch, other phones can only get 3 point.
