thnx ^^
well i need to make more mirrors etc so i have alot of work todo
Best of luck with this RDlius, you're probably going to have a bunch of newbs ask you the same question a million times.
Here's a few more for the FAQ:
GPS works in Cupcake, and works in Donut with the latest rootfs
'My Location' based on cell tower location does not work
USB Headset & headphone adapters work
Flashing an Android rom does not work on Kaiser. Why? Because no one has written the drivers to initialize the hardware from boot.
If you have a SIM PIN enabled, you must disable it in Windows Mobile or Android will not run.
If your screen flips the wrong way when you open the keyboard, use the zImage from 23-Oct-09
If your screen flips the wrong way when you close the keyboard, go to Settings -> Display and uncheck Orientation
Also, "Hater.exe" should be haret.exe

I'm still having this wifi problem.
It says that it's connected, it gets a valid IP adress and everything.
But as well, everything that needs some kind of connection, fails D:
And under WM my network works just awesome.

Try changing the value of board-htckaiser.panel_type in your default.txt . Different Kaisers have different screen models. The value can be 1, 2, or 3.

Can someone tell me why whenever I use the USPL.bat and run all that crap on my phone, hit YES twice for haret.exe and all that, but the screen won't go black. It stays all white and I can't flash anything. Really getting on my nerves.
What I do for Flash this ROM:
run unlock.exe - for unlock the software
run the RUU exe
Everything else are "press any key", "Y/N", "Next" and that's all .
When the RUU exe works my screen is white.
EDIT: Haret is for official (no cooked) ROMS and maybe is not compatable with this rom

i've installed the eT9 text app, and rebooted, then installed the JogBar app and checked the Enable T9 already. But when i write a text file and i press alt+space, the setup for keytouch still appears. i still don't have the eT9 thingy. i can't get to this part: and you use the "alt" key to exit out from the Chinese writing.
Any help guys?

Oldsap,
What are you trying to do exactly? Get the entry field/T9 in English? If that is your question, I didn't use the JogBar app was able to get mine in all English doing the following:
1) Hit alt-space when in some type of text-entry field.
2) Press up (Setup).
3) Select 2-EN (for English).
4) 'Display Candidates List' will pop up (Yes if you want them)
Then, when back in some type of text-entry field:
1) Hit alt-space, then
2) Press down on the pad (Lang), and
3) then Left (to select EN).
That worked for me. Make sure you have changed your regional settings in all areas as well and, as you mentioned, dropped the attached file into the windows folder.
Let me know if that works, if not, I'll rethink what steps I took.
The messaging shortcut (e.g. short_msg.lnk) is fixed to open up the text messaging. As I want the 'account picker' to be displayed, the link needed editing.
Here's the attachment. Just unzip and drop in your windows directory and replace the ROM's version. If you like it defaulting to the text messaging and don't care about the account picker, you don't need to do anything.

Given my device now thinks its a Dopod c720w, clearly that is the origin of the ROM. A question though - is this WM 6.1 build based on an official Dopod build? Or is it based on beta code?
I have also noticed that the Internet Explorer in this ROM does not have issues with php pages like the latest HTC official build.
Love it, and thanks

=================================================================================================
you can grab the build of 04 jan 2010 in my 4shared folder: techunter.4shared.com
=================================================================================================
Now a little explanation on how I proceeded:
3ways of doing it:
I/ Compile it yourself
-> not enough time didn't even tried but you can try here
II/ Download latest image
The packs you can have from sites are generally a stable android release. All the zImage and modules on msm-htc-android sites are all development packs, so choose wisely. Last update doesn't mean best update!
Prerequisite: create a dir name (for example) eclair_fs.
You can also put a Light Rom to make it boot faster or THIS ONE from yozgatg
a)===================
get the build package here:
Quoting this post (again its the main post for the Raphael/Blackstone/DIamond):

(autobuild files, thx for posting this!)
you should have something like zImage-modules-DATE_VER.tar
--go to eclair_fs/ and delete the modules-2.6.27-00330-f485082e.tar (name differ with version) and the "zImage" files.
--untar (with winrar or whatever) in your eclair_fs/ the two files.
--rename the zImage.00000000 (figures as the build date) in "zImage" (without quotes).
-- leave the modules-2.6.27-00710-g485083e.tar you have just extracted with the same name.
c)===================
go to eclair_fs/startup-configs and make sure you have a DIAM100.txt (or whatever DIAMx00 you have, retrieve DIAMx00.txt).
*if YES then delete eclair_fs/startup.txt and copy+rename the eclair_fs/startup-configs/DIAM100.txt to eclair_fs/startup.txt.
*if NO then google another package (the one from connect-utb should have one).
d)===================
optional: make your changes in startup.txt
e)===================
delete the data.img file if you have one (when you make changes in your zImage or system.sqsh you have to delete data.img).
f)===================
now your eclair_fs should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
g)===================
upload at your formatted Internal storage on your diamond TO THE ROOT (without your subfolder eclair_fs)
h)===================
Some bugs are yet to be resolved so to make sure you won't have to reboot again, make sure under Windows Mobile you have:
-disabled the PinCode
-Enabled the GPRS Connection (it works for me without this step but sometime not)
-disabled the airplane mode (if you activated the GPRS you should't be in this mode ^^
-disable whatever special state you put your phone in.
i)===================
run /InternalStorage/Haret.exe
Format your internal storage once in fat32, you don't need to format it every time you change between build.
III/ Get custom build from Raphael or Blackstone etc...
there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751

FILE: 4shared.com (sry, the guy uploaded a new build fixing a bit the mic so I updated mine)

I remembered someone asking about getting their outlook contacts onto their device, and noticed that in Contacts there is the option to import/export, so all you need to do is export contacts from Outlook and save the file to your root folder then open contacts in Android and import the csv file.
I came across the ability to program what function the end key can perform the options were along the lines -
1. close program
2. home page
3. close program and home page
4. do nothing
however, I cant seem to find the option and I am not sure if it was an application I was using or a setting function??? Anyone came across this?

yes, it works...you just have to change the startup file acording to your device.
There is already a startup file for the diamond. This works very well
Dont expect it to be a complete replacement for windows just yet. GPS and Camera do not work but thats minor.
Is it possible to have Swedish keyboard?
Comments from testing?
Android not booting
Android does not boot on my device.It says "failed to find system.img on sdcard".Though a system.sqsh file is present in internal storage.I renamed it to system.img then too it fails with same error message.
interesting, anyone tested?
how about it's performance? smoother than windows 6.5?
mod please delete for double post...
Comments:
Best try for yourself. I found it to be a little annoying to use (much like most Linux machines i've used before). It sometimes seems a little laggy, and I couldnt work out how to turn my phone off since the power button just brings up a menu. Also my phone kept locking and I had to fiddle to get it unlocked again.
I'm not exactly sure how it runs on the phone. If it runs on top of my current rom then my experiences could be down to lack of RAM. When I did a soft reset my Windows ROM booted up and I've been using that until I can get a chance to play again.
Also, I am on O2 UK. I must need to get my 3G settings from somewhere because I couldnt get on the internet under linux.
I will definately be playing some more and will see about using it as a propper phone OS, once I get my contacts on my sim, and I get WWW working. It's very good IMO
It works god but it needs more work. there are problems to get GPRS to work
One good thing is that after a reboot it boots on WM, so you could try android and have your Windows back after a reboot =)
Can't get SMS to work, tried ATcommander.
dieselboy : To turn off the phone, just hold the End button.
so i got it on my diamond and it works rly fine!
is there any way to include htc sense in the android?
It doesn't boot with me.
I use a custom WM6.1 ROM (AZTOR WWE).
I copied all files and updates to the internal storage.
When I start HaRET from the explorer it shows a progressbar saying:
HaRET: Booting Linux ...
on the bottom of my screen is a second titlebar (from Windows) that shows me a Windows Start button, the text 'HaRET Version...' , a keyboard and all the icons I have in my titlebar (reception, volume, 3G icon...)
The progressbar doesn't get past (about) 95% and then everything freezes.
Anyone any idea? Do I need to stop TouchFlo or something?
GPRS and WIFI are unable to work.
Hang on a moment.
So this is now working in the sense that I can make a call and the microphone and ear piece now work?
I tried Android a few months ago and the only benefit I could see was that it ran and loaded but none of the phone hadrware was usable or a ***** to get gprs working.

So far I've figured out that the End Key is the power button; it puts it to sleep (which takes a while to wake up from).
The power button is Home or whatever it's called on Android; it takes you to the desktop.
Home key is menu button and is used to unlock, you can wake the phone up with either power button or menu button but then menu to unlock, sometimes you have to press it a couple of times.
Call button still seems to be call; it brings up the call log from the desktop.
I'm liking what I've seen so far; it's very intuitive. I haven't got 3G internet working though :-(.
API Demos
The simple bitmap ones work but Opengl ones just make the phone crash.
I can't wait to see this on a phone with the Tegra chip on.
Don't understand why When I set the sound to Vibrate. Bejewed still plays sound. It's Cool though
I accidentally started the Voice dialler which also crashed but it's cool. GPRS Data is working
WPA2 Wifi cool!
Gyro Sensors working

Ripped from Cyanogen. Thank you. ;-)
BEFORE YOU GO:
- PLEASE UPDATE KIES TO NEWEST VERSION!
- READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE FLASHING TO AVOID PROBLEMS!
- YOU SHOULD ONLY FLASH TO JPC IF YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED USER!
- MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR /efs FOLDER!
IF YOUR PHONE DOESNT SUPPORT 3-BUTTON RECOVERY/DOWNLOAD-MODE, DON'T FLASH! IF THE FLASH FAILS, YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO REFLASH IT!
JPC WILL CHANGE YOUR PRODUCT CODE, THERE MIGHT BE PROBLEMS WITH NETWORK LOCKED PHONES! READ THE FAQ!!!
BELL USERS, please read the whole FAQ before doing anything here described!
Here´s a nice Demo Video about JPC from User arkhanist:

Good Work!
------------------------------------------------------------------
HOWTO FLASH TO JPC USING KIES IN TEST MODE:
- Make sure your Phone is fully charged!
- Open Kies and connect your Galaxy S
- Open the Firmware Update Window and press CTRL+ALT+U+P (for activating Test Mode)
- Close the Update Window, but don´t close whole Kies Software. Let it run while doing the next Step.
- Run regedit and edit the following entries: (Screenshot Only one of the entries had all of the necessary fields.)
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\[COLOR="red"][B]X[/B][/COLOR]]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"
"HIDSWVER"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"DEVCONINFO"=""
[COLOR="Red"]X[/COLOR] = Device Number
NOTE: BELL Users have to change the Model Name from "GT-i9000m" to "GT-i9000".
NOTE: If there are more than 3 Numbers, just delete all of them and open the Firmware Update Window in Kies, and close it again. Kies will recreate required entries.
- Open the Firmware Update Window again
- Now you should be able to Update to JPC Firmware
- Follow onscreen Instructions
AFTER FLASHING TO JPC ITS NECESSARY TO DO A DATA/FACTORY RESET FROM RECOVERY (Volume up + Home + Power). OTHERWISE YOUR PHONE WILL DO MYSTERIOUS THINGS!!!
DON'T INSTALL THE NEW TASK MANAGER FROM SAMSUNG APPS, IT WILL KILL YOUR SYSTEM. IF YOU´VE DONE IT, ONLY A FACTORY RESET WILL BRING YOUR SYSTEM BACK TO LIFE!

JPC FIRMWARE FOR FLASHING WITH ODIN:
http://www.multiupload.com/LVY75LHMNT
Thanks to Richthofen!
Howto from the sticky BIG FAQ Thread:
- Make sure your Phone is fully charged!
- Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
- Select the PDA/Modem/CSC/.PIT files in Odin. (.PIT and PDA are required. CSC and Modem are HIGHLY recommended. They may be necessary depending on the PDA! Try flashing all three BEFORE reporting bugs, if you only used one initially!)
- Remove the SD card and SIM card from the phone.
- Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
- Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
- If the drivers are installed, click Start.
- The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
- You have successfully flashed your phone.
- Do a Data/Factory Reset

HOWTO APPLY LAGFIX TO JPC FIRMWARE:
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760571
Thanks to RyanZA!
Tested two times by me, working Solution.
Quadrant: ~2000
Linpack: ~14 MFlops
------------------------------------------------------------------
FAQ:
1. Can i flash to JPC if any Lagfix is applied to my Phone?
- Yes, you can. But after Flashing you have to do a Data/Factory Reset at Recovery.
2. My Galaxy S hangs after Boot Animation / is vibrating every few seconds. Whats wrong?
- Goto Recovery (Volume Up + Home + Power) and do a Data/Factory Reset. Now it should start correctly.
3a. Cannot connect my Galaxy S to Kies.
- Close all running Apps on your Phone. Kies does not work with Launcher Pro because its a running app, so you have to remove it.
- Disable USB-Debugging
3b. Cannot connect my Galaxy S to Kies. MTP Application on my Phone is crashing on and on.
- Backup Your Internal SD data
- Unmount your Internal SD (Menu -> Settings -> SD-Card...)
- Format It
- Remount
- Plug in USB and it should work when plugged back in
4. My Calendar-App / Internet Browser is ****ed after restoring Data from Titanium Backup.
- Don´t do this, Froyo Data seems to be incompatible to 2.1 Data!
- Goto Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All and clear the Calendar / Internet Browser Data manually. Should work for other Apps, too!
5. Is it worth to flash to JPC from JM6?
- Simply, YES!
6. Some Apps at the Market seems to be missing.
- Look for "Eris Market Fix" at the Market. ;-)
7. My Phone asks me for a Unlock Code. Product Code has changed to KOR. What to do?
- Your Phone have to be rooted! Busybox is required!
- Start->Run-> cmd
- Change to your SDK\tools Directory e.g cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Android SDK\tools
- adb shell
- su
- cd /efs
- ls -al
If now nv_data.bak AND nv_data.bak.md5 are displayed, do the next few steps marked with (a)
If now .nv_data.bak AND .nv_data.bak.md5 are displayed (dot before filenames), do the next few steps marked with (b).
(a)- mv nv_data.bin nv_data.jpc
(a)- mv nv_data.bin.md5 nv_data.jpc.md5
(a)- mv nv_data.bak nv_data.bin
(a)- mv nv_data.bak.md5 nv_data.bin.md5
(a)- reboot
(b)- mv nv_data.bin nv_data.jpc
(b)- mv nv_data.bin.md5 nv_data.jpc.md5
(b)- mv .nv_data.bak nv_data.bin
(b)- mv .nv_data.bak.md5 nv_data.bin.md5
(b)- reboot
Now your Phone shouldn´t ask for a Code.

Awesome stuff!
Thanks!
Works great,
Great, thanks for this usefull thread
And just because i also dont want to read all 50 pages of the other thread:
Is it worth an upgrade from jm6 (2.1) or should i still wait if i want a froyo firmware as stable as the latest eclair firmwares?
thanks
I was on JM6, too.
I thinks its worth. Froyo rockz!
Many thanks Aery!
Any help would be appreciated.
As far as i know i have followed all tutorials correctly.
My phone will not mount in Kies using Kies Mode, mass storage is fine and Tethering is also fine.
Any ideas ?
For the help list:
My Internet browser is f*cked after a restore from Titanium Backup.
Goto Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All - > Internet
Then choose Clear data. Should work then!

Out of interest, why do Samsung not do OTA Updates ?
Will Kies change my CSC if I do it like this?

gonna try to flash with odin.
i´ll report soon as i can.
where I can find this "X = Device Number"?
This method will allow you to lock your phone as soon as your connected accessory (smartband, fitness tracker, smartwatch) is away.
So you can now use your phone unlocked and it will automatically protect itself in case of theft -- The same way Xiaomi does with their fitness band.
Root NOT needed.
Description
This method consume no battery since it doesn't track the device itself, but only the notification android makes when the device is connected/disconnected.
It can work with virtually every device, (bluetooth, low energy bluetooth, wifi, usb ...) in the condition there is a notification on the taskbar when connecting / disconnecting
It is build to be secure but I am open to your suggestions or improvements.
It is made for the Sony SmartBand, you can easily adapt it to the notification you have with your connected device.
Apps needed
What you need first :
- Tasker
- Autonotification tasker plugin (you need the full version : 1-2$)
- SecureSettings
Installation :
- Install SecureSettings
Activate "device administrator" in the secure settings parameters
Make sure the right option is checked inside the app :
Options -> Dev Admin Actions -> Lock Device
Options -> Dev Admin Actions -> Password/Pin
- Install Autonotification
- Install the Autonotification unlock key
Open the app and click on "Enable Notification Intercept"
It should now be unlocked, ready to intercept and linked to tasker.
- Install Tasker
Now import the profiles like this:
Download Tasker_profiles_v3.zip, copy/unpack NotifLock.prf.xml and then open it. A popup will appear that the profile is now available in Tasker. Go to Tasker, and then long-press/release on the Profiles-tab for a menu item allowing you to Import appear. (Thanks Xordef)
If you have a Sony SmartBand
- Edit the task of NotifLock (The first profile) to your needs:
You need to change the line 1 and 4:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If your phone is in English just change :
Mode jour
Accessoire smartband déconnecté
with :
Day mode
SmartBand disconnected
If you dont have a Sony Smartband :
You first need to explain to autonotification wich app you need to track for :
The easiest way to find back the exact name is to raise a notification from your device connection/disconnection, then :
Edit the state of NotifLock (by clicking just under the title and then on the pen) --> Fill from last --> Notification App
Done.
Now :
- Edit the task of NotifLock by changing the IF lines to the text you want to track :
You need to track the ticker text, the one bellow the title (Mode Jour in the Printscreen)
Versions
19.07 : Initial version
29.07 : V2
The scripts are now simplier yet more efficient and reliable
It now only wake up only when the smartwear connects/disconnects
The scripts now always detect when the phone is near the device again
29.07 : V3
The script is now very simple yet more effective.
It doesn't use anymore the combination tasker keyguard + secure settings pattern lock
It now use the device admin secure setting pin lock, compatible with non root devices and reliable.
Plus when the device is away, the device screen is turned off and locked instantly with se SS lock function
Remarks :
You can change the lock screen code in Tasker --> NotifLock, search for the line " Secure Settings" Configuration Set Pin -> click on the pen
(If you don't, the code is 6824)
Some users reported that changing the password is required for Tasker to work properly the first time.
You can have two configuration depending on what you prefer :
(Device away) Pattern lock < - - - - > Swipe to unlock (Device here)
Or
(Device away) Pattern lock No screen lock at all (Device here)
By simply changing the unlocked lockscreen (Swipe or Nothing) when your device is connected.
Troubleshooting :
If you use the sony smartband and want to try the scripts by turning the smartband off, it will first raise the "Night Mode" script then disconnect, these two closed in time notification can fool the scripts and prevent the phone to lock.
Not a big deal in real life, but I will search a workaround when I will have time.
Please send me your questions or comments or improvment suggestions.
Does not work well for me, not sure if im not getting notification or is it something else. Imported your plugins and changed some texts to English. But the pattern lock stays always off, even when the band is in night mode or when I switch off BT and SmartBand disconnects.

I see three leads here :
- Did you created the variable BandCon maybe ?
- You have to firstly define a pattern lock in your phone for securesettings being able to remove or add it again.
- Try to raise a Tasker alert (popup) when a notification should be catch by autonotification. (Example : popup "connected !" around the line A3 in the first profile)
If it doesn't work, then it can be either a bad transcription of the text or using the free version of autonotification.

I used your provided profiles. Should I change BandCon, isn´t it just a name?

It is a variable name, I am not sure importing the profile will create it.
to manually create it :
settings -> ui -> deselect beginner mode
now you can create a variable nammed "BandCon" in the new var panel
It should be equal 1 when the device is connected, and 0 when it is not.
EDIT : I am thinking about something else : the pattern lock option must be enabled in secure settings:
options -> root actions -> check pattern lock
Thanks, seems to work now, did some restarts and checked pattern lock again. But when switching off bt and band disconnects I get SecureSettings pin lock instead, I have no idea what the pin should be, fortunately restart removed the pin screen. Reconnecting smartband did not help.

- I am glad it worked for you too !
The code is 6824
This step was an enforced security step in order to force the theft to turn off the screen and apply the definitive pattern lock.
You can change this code in Tasker (the lock line in the first module, line A7 in the description)
Another little trick : you can have two configuration depending on what you prefer :
Pattern lock - - - - Swipe to unlock
Or
Pattern lock - - - - Nothing
By simply changing the unlocked lockscreen (Swipe or Nothing) when your device is near.
This is what I found so far, I find this approach very useful for my use. Don't hesitate to report your experience or findings too after a while.

Post updated with a new version of the scripts, and a completely rewritten tutorial to install them.
These new scripts were tested for more than a week now and they never failed for me.
The whole process is much simplier, and should not require root.

Please try to activate de "device administrator" in the secure settings parameters and report.

Secure Settings is a device Administrator, so Tasker. I've set a Pattern as Lockscreen. But the same Problem...
Why are there so many Tasks to disable Pattern Lock in the imported Profile? Line 2 till 7 do all the same?

See ? That is why I love XDA
I was searching a solution for non rooted users and found a simpler yet more reliable way to lock the phone.
Now the phone screen will instantly go off and lock with pin lock.
Please :
- Remove the pattern lock
- Try the new V3, there is only one script and if you don't change it, the code is 6824
Locking the phone with pattern lock required root.

Indeed we are ! I change the tutorial at each of your question. Thanks for beeing the "Guinea Pig" of this thread.
Make sure the right option is checked inside the secure settings app :
Options -> Dev Admin Actions -> Lock Device
Options -> Dev Admin Actions -> Password/Pin
You can change the pin here :
Tasker, search for the line " Secure Settings" Configuration Set Pin -> click on the pen

Now it works! But just with a password, not with a pin. And if the SmartBand reconnects, i'll have to wipe to unlock 1 time ( i've set no lockscreen). That work for me, very nice! Good work an thanks for help :highfive:

Very glad to hear.
Once you are connected with the device, simply go to the Android lockscreen page and check again "no lockscreen"
This way you shoud not have to swipe at all when you reconnect (I have no lockscreen too)

Btw the german translation: "Nachtmodus" (night), "Tagmodus" (day), "SmartBand nicht verbunden" (disconnected)
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your work and help
I found this guide just today and I tried to made for my xperia z1 compact, but I'm still stacked on Tasker, I wrote on Vars section the code (%BandCon) but after that I'm not able to go forward.
Have I to load with the comand import-> your's file ?? (NotifLock.prf). Cause I put this file on the tasker's folder but the app can't see this file...
Bye all, Mattia
Try to simply open it with a file Explorer and it should propose to be opened by Tasker. Then you can import it from the profile tab.
The variable BandCon is no longer needed by the V3 script, I forgot to remove this line from the tutorial.
This is only meant for the Indian V30 H930DS devices and specific to Reliance Jio and Airtel Networks.
ROOT is necessary for this. And I have tried it only on the stock rom.
Thanks to @ChazzMatt, @seadersn, @nkar for their posts which helped me figure out this.
So I was trying to figure out how to get vowifi using Seadersn's method found that we have a path called /OP/OPEN_ESA_DS/config which has most of the config files. So i enabled VoWifi from the vo_config.xml. This allows you to have vowifi in the *#*#4636#*#* menu. But the reason we need a new update is because the network provider has to give some info of the settings they use (like apn and etc.) so the manufacturer adds them in. I will detail it below, step by step.
I am not responsible if you brick your device so please take a backup of your /OP as mentioned in Seadersn's link.
Tip: Use quickedit text editor pro if you can get the apk because it has search function which is helpful.
Note:
1. I made changes only to my specific network provider which is reliance jio.
2. Have a look inside the v30 file and the v40 files and look for your specific network and see what is new in the v40 file for your network.
3. Don't copy and replace the V40 files to the v30. Open the files mentioned and copy your relevant MCC/MNC data and append it to the v30 root /OP/OPEN_ESA_DS/config/xxx.xml file.
4. I have attached the V40 OP zip file which can be found below in this thread.
Things you need to know initially:
You have to know the mnc and mcc of your network provider. You can get this from your apn settings in your mobile networks. There is a setting for mnc and mcc.
If you are not sure, you can google and see for "reliance jio mcc and mnc" and you will get an image like this.
If you see, I use MCC:405 and MNC:861 which is specific to Karnataka. And i also use 862 and 869 when i travel.
There are 4 main files that have the network configuration for all the service providers in india. All these files have every MNC and MCC we use in india. So you need to make changes to the ones you are in and whichever you travel to.
vo_config.xml - This is to enable VoWiFi for that MCC/MNC
ims_conf.xml - Enabling VoWiFi settings specific like roaming, emergency, etc.
ike_conf.xml - Has specific operator settings to make VoWiFi actually work.
mapcon_conf. xml - Again, Has specific operator settings to make VoWiFi actually work.
rcs.xml
Steps:
1. Open OP/OPEN_ESA_DS/config/vo_config.xml and goto your network and enable as mentioned below. Append what is not in your v30 device. I have added epdg_enable="1" which i found actually working. So try that also.
<info mcc="405" mnc="861"><!-- RJIL IN -->
<prop
support_volte="1"
support_vilte="1"
support_vowifi="1"
support_viwifi="1"
epdg_enable="1"
support_vt="1"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Open the ims_conf.xml in the V40 and search for your mnc. It will take you to your network because there is a huge list. In the V30 file, you will only find the <volte...> settings.
But in the V40 file you will find <vowifi...> settings also after the volte settings for your specific network.
Copy the vowifi settings from the V40 file and append it to the V30 file.
3. Same as the above, you need to goto ike_conf.xml and search for your mnc. Make sure your corresponding mcc is also there.
Append the data from the V40 file to your V30 root file.
4. Same as the above, you need to goto mapcon_conf.xml and search for your mnc. Make sure your corresponding mcc is also there.
Append the data from the V40 file to your V30 root file.
5. Also make change to the rcs.xml and enable RCS.
Now Reboot your phone for the settings to take place.
Last Step:
Go into *#546368#*930#>SVC Menu>VoWifi>WiFi calling toggle:1.
Wait for 2 mins and it should show up.
You will not have the vowifi button in network settings. If you want the vowifi button, you need to go the LG engineering menu *#546368#*930# and enable the UX. I don't suggest this because i did some wrong settings and had to start from scratch.
You will see the dialer showing the wifi symbol as below.

Few Pains: Sometimes call to the same network (reliance jio) doesn't go but incoming calls and calls to other networks go fine. I am trying to figure out why. Sometimes after 3-5 days it worked and again went off. But incoming from any number and outgoing to non-jio numbers works well.

The ike_conf or mapcon_conf have 2-3 entries. You have copied only one. Check on that.

Try these two. One at a time.
1. In carrier_code.xml, look for your mcc/mnc and add like I added below. Only add the extra mvno things.
<profile carrier="RJIL" suffix="IND" carrier_code_fast="" carrier_code_late="RJIL" carrier_code_sub="" country="IN" iccid="" mcc="405" mnc="861" mvno_type="spn" mvno_match_data="Jio 4G" />
Reboot.
2. Goto settings--> network--> mobile networks--> name of apns --> three dots --> add apn
Name: IMS
APN: ims
APN type: ims
Protocol: IPv4
roaming protocol: IPv4
three dots --> save
Thanks a lot for this! It's working great with the top symbol and everything.

I had to do one more step.
Go into *#546368#*930#>VoWifi>WiFi calling toggle:1. This worked immediately and the settings stays permanently even after a reboot. Incase you want to disable VoWifi then do it the same way.
Whatever you set under UX options resets after a reboot so that's not very helpful.

Ok thanks. I thought that automatically gets set from the XML. I'll add it as a setting in the main method. I think i enabled it when i was experimenting.

I'm guessing the XML just enables the support but the actual enable switch is under the secret setting.

@nokia_16 Don't do these steps. I think this is what caused all the trouble for me. I have updated the main post with RCS and also enabling the VoWiFi switch from the engineering menu. Check the main post again.

Guess its not working for me or something is wrong with my settings. I tried editing all 4 xml files and also rcs xml file. Also enabled vowifi in secret settings to true.... Not worked. Tried adding mvno code to carrier config and restarted no use. Also tried adding IMS apn, but apn is not getting added when i click save. I even tried restoring op config from twrp and tried everything once again. Not worked.
