Hi,
I have used different roms, including the orignal one, i always face the problelm with the camera, when i press the camrea button to take the snap, it capture the photo after 2,3 seconds, and in that time, (pplz have moved, and its always blurr), how i can remove this Lag time for the camera, so it take the photo shot, as soon i press the camera button.
this is really irritating and annoying, Hope to get some true solution to it.
Regards
Jade
There is a quick fix to the lag. Go to focus options and choose the infinite one!
I tried via this way many time, but still facing lag problem while taking the pictures, the snap shot is taken after 1-2 seconds of pressing the camera key.
Is there any repair, or fix CAB for it , or some other solution.
Regards
Jade
General Tip
the easy way is to use sport mode (i made it the default scene mode). however you will always not like the color it get, but acceptable in bright light condition. Next, i set the focus to infinite, manual white balance. The rest will depend on your phone software/system configuration.
if you are willing/knowlege enough, i suggest to change the system cache (cache, repl, gdi, fat entry cache, block transfer) just big/small enough for your need. Too small = sluggish respond, too large = may unstable the phone, data lost/corrupt, random lockups.
Oh, do try the xperia x2 vga driver and sdcard tuneup if you haven't already.
Try HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Captparam and set CapKeyDelayTime to 0.

That's the one! Or use Xperia Tweak, and look for shutter delay in the camera section, if you don't want to edit the registry directly yourself.
does anybody have this problems with x1 camera..... the result of the picture is darker when you transfer it to a pc or upload it.... its only show the true color on the xperia image preview, when actually its too dark... any one ???

I just didn't find such entry in the X1 registry. Should I add one or whatever wrong with my machine?

Hi Paul,
Xperia Tweak 2.0 doesn't have the said camera section. May be a new version available, where can I get it? Thanks in advance for your advice.
oops, sorry... the option is in Advanced Config (I confuse the two applications, Advanced Config is much more comprehensive)
htc camera
sorry mate. that parameter does not exist on stock rom. unless it's already cooked or you install it yourself. and it's for htc cam app(which i think the iso speed option did not work. like i want 400, it capture in 201), not experia default one.

you got it all wrong. your handheld/camera/phone lcd display will never show the true color/contrast/etc output of the recorded image. they are very limited in everything and tend to trick your (inexperience) mind about how good/bad things are. think, winmo only output 65k(16bit) color. doesn't matter if your screen got 200 thousand+ or 16m color display screen. it's capped that way. what you're seeing have been through interpolation, resampling, device enhancement, bla..bla..bla. the real thing is on your desktop monitor(assuming it's decent and you didn't mess it up). gamma too low perhaps?

Expert Opinion?
I'm facing the same problem with Xperia X1 camera lagging, and blurry...
I'm using the default Xperia cam software.
Any expert care to provide a comprehensive solution to this problem?
Only fix : Sports mode + Infinite focus.

Hi Xmoo
I don't understand, what do u mean by using the Xperia Camera on the Touch HD , does this mean that there is a replacement software for the HD camera, cos the current camera software on HD is not up to my expectation most comes out blurry despite the settings found here in this great forum pages... I'm sure the camera on the HD is capable of much more given the 5 MP it uses.
Cheers
You state its faster. in what way??? focus?
is there a way of using a soft map to fake the button assignment? surely its looking for ButtonX
Hi all,
I'm @ belgium now.
When I go home I will make a demo video and also share the files here.
I just copied the Camera software from the Xperia and pasted it on the root of my SD card on the Touch HD.
Opend it and it worked (kinda)
can you share that app with us?
i'm getting crazy with the hd camera. it's working outdoor at perfect light conditions, but as soon as you don't have ideal conditions, it's unusable...
It's very interesting... could you share this with us?
thanks!
I've added the cab in post #1.
Just extract it on ur phone, and start the .exe
The screen is very dark. To try and see how fast the cam works.
Point ur phone to laptop/pc monitor or television.
Don't know why it's so dark. Think it's a driver issue or somethin.

Thanks for posting. Re darkness it seems like it is not programmed for the lens position on the HD. When I go close to a screen can see a pinhole lens effect. Could be probably wrong ;-)

Yes I did see that a grey square. Very frustrating. Do you think it is worth posting in Development and Hacking to find someone more clever than us?
Always worth trying. After all, this may benefit not only to Blackstone.
I renamed the CameraRunner.exe to Camera.exe and copied all files uploaded by xmoo to the Windows folder. When I did that it becomes the main camera for the device and by pressing around on the screen new options appear but still with no text. I somehow did manage to change the camera to video while pressing around on the screen and also managed to make the screen go white for some reason and could see the lens working faintly like when it is black.
Took some poor quality shots of what I got. Can you confirm where the Xperia camera files are located on the Xperia device?
Managed to get the original HTC camera back after overwriting the Xperia one I renamed.
the problem with the default x1 camera application:
-very big application with very slow startup time
-very slow interface
-require too many clicks to change the mode or the settings
now im not asking to make a full fledged camera application as that would take too much time. i am asking for a very simple and lightwaight camera application that can simply start right away into sports mode with infinite focus and flash as this seems like the quickest and most practical
shooting mode on our X1. or simply start to the last used mode in the SE camera app
i just want to have a very quick way to to take good pics.
on my old 2003 magican it takes me only 2-3 seconds to quickly start the application and take the first pic. on the xperia it takes no less the a ridicoulus 7 seconds because of the camera application.
i find the rhodium's camera to be quick and good quality.. but when there is light sometime could get overexposed lock until u take another pic.. but definitely heaps faster than SE camera.. drawback also is u cant use the camera button to use rhodium..
maybe someone can do a quick one by porting one of the old apps like the ones that come with the htc wizard/magican. these cameras apps are very small and they startup in a second
Actually I think if one want a 'simple' camera, get a 'simple phone'!
For me, I would like a camera that WORKS 100%! So whatever the features, as long as they work fast and correct, that is what I want!

you are TOTALLY missing the point. what i am proposing is in not to replace the camera but to have an additional one that can start and take a good pic in about 2 seconds instead of about 7 seconds right now
this would greatly increase the practicality and usefulness of the camera
Aha.... you want a 2nd(!) camera because of a 5 second difference....!
Well, as for me, I want a camera that works and records without pixelation, etc. as the current one does!
I'm with the GRIZZ. 5 seconds often makes all the difference, especially when you have bought a phone specifically so that you can have a decent camera on you at all times.
A lightweight camera app would be fantastic but I suspect it would take some pretty fancy programming to make work.

im not sure about that our xperia runs the 'HD or rhodium cameras fine. also the very old imate kjam runs the relativly new touch viva camera on some of the new cooked roms.
how hard can it be to to simply port a very small and old camera application like the one that comes with the magican or wizard.
defenatly worth a try but unfortunatly im no good at programing or even hacking. anybody willing to give this a shot?

why are you expecting it to be pixely or blury. its using the same hardware at as the SE camera application the end of the day. if the app boots to the sport mode with infinite focus (the faststest and best mode SE camera does anyway)it should be able to take very good pics. infact you will be able to take better pics because you will now be able to take 3 pics in the same time that normally takes you 1 picture with the default camera
of course the ultimite solution is for sony to make a much faster camera but i wouldnt hold my breath for that. their newer camera application with gps and autoflash is even slower than the original application which was also slow
i say we make a proof of concept first before we judge the practicality of this.
I totally agree on the importance of speed on phone camera's. The main reason to have one on a phone is to take swift pictures on the fly when you don't have a digital camera at hand but want to capture the moment.
In my humble opinion, if you want super quality pictures, get a digital camera, thats what they're for. On a phone i prefer speed rather than quality. (not saying Xperia doesnt take decent pictures (; )
In new custom ROMs (as in mine, check sig) the cam takes only 2secs to start and focus is very fast! I don't know how the R3A Cam behaves if used as cab...but cooked in it is very fast!!

Otherwise, shouldn't there be a cab floating around from one of the simpler HTC camera apps? Why not just try one of those?
Someone could also experiment with Speedbooster 2 and assign the camera to top priority. I would but I don't have it.

Yes, I think that would work.
You only need to improve the speed of camera.exe or the name of the camera process, and it should go faster.
The good thing is that the trial version allows you to control one task, so this is exactly what you need.
Cab here.

Doesn't work on my device... not sure why. It loaded the 1st time but then never again, even after reinstalls. Strange...
flash one of itjes roms...
they contain the htc topaz/rhodium camera...
it takes pictures instantly and is the same quality as the stock camera
i flashed so many roms and while the speed of the startup and taking the first picture is not too bad, its still much slower than what can be achived if it was a simpler & lighter application.
the fastest i managed to get was about 5 seconds on the rohdium camera
And how fast would that be if you increase the .exe process of the camera to maximum priority?
I'm using a diamond and I'm happy with the default camera speed.
I recently upgraded to a Touch Pro 2 from a Mogul, massive improvement (other than the lack of hardware keys). So I was a little worried when first using the camera, but the interface quickly grew on me. After installing everything I had on the Mogul, and a few other things that weren't previously supported, I went to snap a quick picture. But for some reason I now have to press and HOLD the shutter button for about 2 or 3 seconds while it auto-focuses then finally takes the picture. For the last week or two (since I've had the phone) I just tapped the button and it focused and took the picture, and was a lot quicker.
I've gone through all of the new cabs I've installed and looked for changes to the camera's registry settings, but found nothing (other than the enabling of the extra modes).
I've also tried changing the Key Delay settings in Advanced Config. Normally I find solutions to any problems I encounter by searching the xda forums, but this time all I'm coming up with is TP2 camera reviews, and stuff about the TP Shoot Options (which are related to the TP's hw button, I'm guessing?).
It's not a huge problem, I mean everything still works as it should. It's just kind of annoying having to hold the button and wait. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Also, pressing the Enter key on the hardware keyboard still has the desired effect. It's just something with the on screen shutter button.

I too have encountered this problem and can't figure out what is causing it. Also, I have noticed that for my video recording, it is stuck on the lowest resolution of S (128x96) in mpeg4 mode. When I first got the phone, I recall setting it to best resolution, forgot which one that was, but I can't even tap on the resolution to change it from small, just makes error clicks. Does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix this? (Short of a hard reset of course)
I am guessing you guys are using stock roms? I would highly suggest flashing a custom rom, they are in my experience 100x better than stock roms. If you dont want to go that route, you can search the forums for the Advanced Configurations tool, download it and install. It has options for your camera settings, among many other very useful settings. I believe the camera has a delay by default, which can be disabled in the Advanced config menu. I have also found that disabling the shutter sound and setting the flicker adjustment to 50 hz seems to give better/faster camera performance. Also check in TP2/Tilt2 Genereal Discussion / Cabs, Tips, and Tweaks thread, you can enable more camera modes and video modes by doing some pretty easy registry tweaks
Yeah I've had custom roms on all of my previous phones, but I've had no problems with the stock one so far (contrary to the previous ones, which is why I flashed). As per my original post, the settings in Advanced Config do not relate to the problem I (and apparently others) am experiencing. I would say this is the problem that would make me flash a custom rom, but the problem didn't start until a few weeks after using the phone. I totally agree with you on the flicker and sound settings though.
The problem isn't really a "delay", its a matter of 'Press' vs 'Press & Hold'. It really isn't a problem though. In fact, it actually keeps me from accidentally taking pictures. One thing I did do though is set my Back key to Enter (which still works right). So now I have a hardware shutter button.

Understood, thank you. Are you able to click/select the "Capture Format" options in that same list in "Advanced" vid settings....or is it greyed out/locked as well?
EDIT: I just saw your post in the other thread, I'll throw BsB back on my phone in a few and then list the exact steps/options I used.
Ok radioman, here's what I did...
In BsB tweaks, I switched on all the following options:
-Hidden Camera Modes (probably only affects the still camera, but it's one of the ones I turned on when the extra video options appeared, so you might want to try it anyway)
-Video Formats
-Camera Superfine
-Video BitRate
Once I switched those all on, I just went into the video camera settings, clicked the "advanced" button, and then I could click on and change both the "capture format" and "resolution" selections. I believe that the 640x480 resolution is only available in the MPEG4, Motion JPEG, and 3GPP2 formats.
I tried this with BsB was only able to get 640x480 in 3GPP2 on my tilt 2.
ok,sirphunkee thanks for your time, but the first time i instaled bsb tweaks i did everything like you said but nothing, i can change and choose all the capture formats, H.264, H.263, 3GPP3, MPEG4 and Motion JPEG, but i can't change the resolution in any format, the only option is S (128 x 96), i am kind of desperate!
can anyone help here?? the videos are so small!!!
I learned how to use Touch Focus using the ROM MS2Ginger 1.0:
open the camera app,
press and hold the white square in the middle, drag it to wherever you want and drop.
Press and hold the capture icon, the square becomes green in the place you dropped it.
When you release the capture icon the picture is taken.
Remember to clean possible dirtiness or fingerprints from the lens.
I would like to know if there is a way to use this feature (or bring it) in other ROMs, and if it works in both red/green lens.
If you try please share your result.

Does touch to focus works in your stock blurcamera as I described?
Many camera apps support touch to focus, like LGcamera and Camera360.
But I hope you know that the defy itself doesn't support touch to focus, so when using the app it may appear that it is working but it is still focussing on on the center:

Only now I found the setting that I had to change in lgCamera, Touch Focus is working there too, thanks.
I've attached some pictures made with my Defy using focus in different objects, can you confirm if you can do the same?
Maybe it's ROM/lens dependent.
EDIT:
I've attached both reduced size and full size.
This manual touch focus is working for Defy. I'd tested it many times with difference objects far and near and they seemed to work very nice. I use the stock camera as it integrated with my blur galery very good and easily share or upload it to my social network apps.. This Defy even worked with the face detection and sometimes I even use it to take group of peoples without any issues.
can any of you actually tell me how to get touch focus working on any of the camera apps?stock,lg or 360 i can't seem to find the settings to change it to touch focus..

Try taking a photo like the one attached, with your fingers kept at the center and very close to the camera, while clicking on the farther object to the side (here my laptop). The camera will still focus on the nearer object, the fingers, at the center of the screen rather than at the object you clicked on . So touch to focus isn't working the way it is supposed to, it only just focusses at the object at the center of the screen whenever you touch anywhere on the screen.
I am on CM7 RC1.5, SOC Module. Touch to Focus probably won't work the way it is supposed to unless someone can fix the drivers moto has supplied for the phone. If it is working properly on your ROM maybe it can be ported
I don't remember if Eclair or Froyo has this touch focus function under stock rom. But I'm positively sure all gingerbread stock rom has it, however, it still dependance on Red lenses and Green lenses capability I supposed. Custom rom like CM7 or Miui may have altered alot which makes this function disappeared only the rom developer knows.
@scottie1973
for camera360:
go to definitions (wheel in top right), "Common Set",
make sure "Shoot by screen touch" is checked,
and that the "Shoot Mode" is defined as "Auto Focus".
for lgcamera:
you need to open definitions, and in the end of the list are a lot of checkbox to be selected.
In mine the words are not in english, but it's related to long click to Autofocus and capture.
For the stock is as described in the first post.
If after autofocus, the square is turning blue instead of green, means that the camera was not able to focus correctly.
@tejus.k.v
It works that way, even though I notice that there is a minimal area of a object for you to be able to focus at it. I don't know if this thing is perfect or not, but it works in the ROM I'm using (developed by walter79).

It works that way, even though I notice that there is a minimal area of a object for you to be able to focus at it. I don't know if this thing is perfect or not, but it works in the ROM I'm using (developed by walter79).

Hi everyone!
As a Note II user, I really enjoy the "warm vintage" camera effect, and I shoot the 80% of the photos with this filter activated. After I tried many Apps, I'm stick with this stock effect because creates an excellent tone and colours, and does not look so vintage. But I will change my phone in a few months, and I can't find any App with something like that. Could anyone help me out with this? Thanks a lot!
Snapseed and even Line camera app have those and many other effects - but I like Snapseed's ability to adjust more.

Yes, you are right, I should have explained myself better. I meant I'm looking for the effect in real time, as is built in our Notes, so you can see it before you take the picture, not a filter you can apply later. And also I'd like the same white balance and colour saturation that "warm vintage" has, not an approximate solution. Thanks anyway for the response!:good:

Does anyone know where the "Warm vintage" filter has gone in the note 3 and Note 4? Thanks!

It was only included in Note2, not in any model after that.
Hello, just switched from Galaxy S3 to Xperia Z3 and badly missing the warm vintage effect on my cammera, from same reasons as originator of this thread.
Can anyone advice which camera app is matching, if any?
Thank you very much
Try "Open Camera", it's free in the Playstore. It has quite same Warm Vintage effects in the stock camera app.

Thank you for the hint. Open Camera is nowhere near my expectation. Its true, that with white balance manually set to Daylight or Cloudy-daylight, the colours are much more alive, but not as much as I would imagine.
Any other idea? It really not possible to transfer the Samsung (S3) camera mode to other device?
