Is is possible/safe to install a ROM made for the AT&T Tilt 2 to be installed on a AT&T Tilt 1?
No, not at all. If you actually manage to flash a Rhodium (Tilt2) ROM onto an original Kaiser (Tilt), you'll likely end up with an unusable brick. There are huge differences between them in hardware, kernels, etc. The only true similarity is the name, not much else.

Alright, good thing I asked before I moved!
Thanks,

Why don't you find a ROM made for the Tilt/Kaiser and flash that? They have WM6.5 ROMs available.

I am interested in trying on of the cooked Roms on my ATT 8525, however I am concerned about converting back to the ATT rom. I would like to use the K's WM6.0 Lite FINAL from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350695
Can I just run the ATT WM6 install like I did when I upgraded from WM5? Or do I need to do something more complicated?
I am sorry for my newbishness, I do not do a whole lot with WM devices, I am mainly a server/pc/network tech.
Thank you for your help,
Gihzmo
it can be done pretty much exactly the same.
ive actually reflashed an att rom back onto a phone after having several roms, and sent the phone back to get it replaced with the warranty

Yes, thats all you have to do if you go back to the AT&T ROM for the 8525. Same as upgrading from WM5.... Good luck and Read, Read, Read.. This forum is addicting...

install hardspl first, with that chances of you turning your phone into a brick dramatically reduces by a factor of 2854.23 exactly

Although you don't HAVE to install hardspl, i've never had a problem just doing safe softspl installs..
Thank you guys very much, im looking for the HardSPL download now and I am going to flash to K's WM6.0 Lite FINAL.

HardSPL is one of the greatest gifts, as XtreMe_G says. Actually I can't imagine not HardSPLing, why take a chance....
I paid $500 buckazoids for my 8525, with the 2 year. Explaining a "brick" to my wife (much less Cingular) when I had the means to not brick... I don't think so.
As a precaution, it's always worth reading MrVanx's Hermes Upgrade Guide
Thank you for your help, I got the new rom on the phone with almost no trouble. I had some issues with my direct push email. But I fixed that by removing the proxy that was set.
This is much, much faster then then the rom I was running before (ATT WM6 release).
The only other problem I seem to have is the weather doesnt seem to want to connect, I looked it up and figured out the code for my city (Danville VA USA) I used NAM|US|VA|DANVILLE
This works if you go through the Accuweather website, but it doesnt want to connect through the phone... anyone have any ideas? The phone goes out to the internet fine, getting email and browsing.
there is plenty of threads about this including this one
Hey all. I've upgraded to NFSFAN's newest rom - which is really sweet!! - but I'm having an issue with the keyboard. I can only access it in landscape mode; whenever I push the tiny button in portrait mode (which is the mode I usually use), nothing happens. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sigh, sorry for this but same question for you as the other fella with "keypad" probs.
Do you have the HTC Vogue (CDMA version of the touch)?
this ROM may be generic (non-carrier specific) but it is meant for ONLY the Vogue.
IF you do have the Vogue, did you follow the reccomended upgrade procedure?
1. Flash the ROM from bootloader mode
2. Hard reset
3. Run your carrier GPS reg.cab UNLESS your with Bell Mobility
If not, reflash and follow the recomended procedure, it cures many "wierd" issues.
don't waste your money,
hold out for another month and get the diamond2-has micro sd slot,
or the touchpro2.

No kidding,
I'm waiting for them as well. Just want to "feel" both when their in store to decide. I carry my Vogue in my pocket and will probably continue with that.
To bad NFSFAN got the first gen TP. I know there was a "get NFSFAN a TP" fund going on in another forum. Don't know if that's why. He did mention waiting for an HTC phone with the tegra chip. I really want my next phone to be one NFSFAN has as well, tried LOTS of ROMS, play a while then go back to his!!
For 24/7 stable use there just ain't anything better.
Yeah, I guess that maybe I'll wait for the others to come out, then. I do like the Touch, but its screen is a little too small and it's not very fast....
Wow, I must say that I'm surprised to see the iPhone winning in this poll!!

Yeah, I hope to learn everything I can from him and his vogue roms.
When the necessary stuff comes out to build roms for a
cdma version of the touch pro2 I'll definitely be
spending 99% of my time on building a siiick rom for that.

i tried using the Hard SPL in the TP2 "flashing for noobs" thread and a message appeared saying it wasn't for my phone and it had a high chance of bricking my phone.

I think what you need to realize is that Tilt2 is pretty much a TP2
Anyways there are some ROMs cooked specifically for AT&T...check out the ROM section
But even if you flash some other ROMs, the only thing you have to do is to download the Tilt2 keyboard fix
i know. i have a TP2 ROM on it now, but something about turning on my phone and seeing "TouchPRO2" irks me xD

If you're interested, you can actually change the boot screen to any 480x800 image with this guide by ai6908.
I know a lot of you out there are obviously updating to newer, cooked ROMs. This by far is the best bet when spending the kind of money we are on these phones. You get much more out of your new phone than it is capable of doing from the factory or retail store.
I want to instill in everyone's mind how truly important it is to check out the new radios available for the phone. It takes literally 5 minutes or less start to finish to flash a new radio. You won't lose your newly flashed ROM or any settings that I have found. So, please take notice to my advice. Below is the link for all the newly updated radios for our device. Check out a few of them and make some calls, use your gps. I believe you will be much happier with a new radio, because frankly the stock radios are garbage.
My call signal strength is maxed out in my home whereas it only had 2-3 bars before. My gps doesn't lag behind me anymore, and My Location works perfectly since flashing a new radio. So, try one out. It definitely can't hurt. Below is the link to the thread with all of the newer radios. ENJOY!!!

i never knew what the radios purpose was, i had a hunch i was something like what you described here but now that im sure id like to say thank you and ill definitely be changing my radio

He mentioned in another thread that the radio he flashed to is the one ending in .57, and that's the one I'd suggest you start with. I happen to have it already because it's the one that comes with the stock T-mo 6.5 ROM...but if you've running any ROM's with a different radio, you'll want to give this one a shot. A few other T-mo users have reported good results with the .77 radio, but I'd still start with the .57 if you haven't already.
thanks outerdepth...
I have always figured I should update my radio, but never bothered/got around to it. Your post re-motivated me, so I updated from .25 to .77 and...
100% improvement!!
My gps accuracy used to be off by about a city block, which I attributed to the fact that 'oh well its a cel phone, what can I expect', now is accurate within a meter or two.
My data speeds are much improved, and I dunno if its my imagination or not, but calls even seem clearer and have a better sound quality to them.
Dont know about battery drain yet, but its not really important to me cause I'm a truck driver, so I can leave my phone plugged in most of the time in the truck
Thanks!!
So this might be a dumb question but are these radio updates official? They overwrite ROM so I'm kinda always wary to ever try this. I have the official HTC ROM from their website and I assume you can flash it back but I'm not sure.
The ROM will stay, all your contacts/text/etc will stay, and you SHOULD NOT have to worry about losing anything. You can use a program like SPB Back Up or Sprite back up if you are worried though.
Which radio to use on TP2 on Sprint?
Does my location and company plays any part on this issue of the radios?
I have a 6.5 AT&T Rom in Puerto Rico

I switched to VZW 1.88 and it is about the same as the PCS 2.32 in my area but I put a bunch of radios on my SD card in case I travel and have no bars so I can use this method to flash on the go.

The thread about TP2 Radios tells you how to choose the ones that will work for you, just look for the ones that say AT&T and start there.

The radio-roms are "official". However, in order to flash one you have to first do the HardSPL, which isn't official....and may not be completely reversible, depending on what carrier-branded (if any) phone you have.
The only reason this SPL issue may matter is if you have to return for warranty return. If they swap the phone for you in a store then surely nobody in a store will know the difference...but if you have to send it to HTC then non-stock tampering may be evident.
That being said, it hasn't stopped me from taking full benefit of what this site has to offer and make full use of what is possible with my TP2.
Good advice for everyone.
Some of the newer cooked roms require a particular radio...or at least will work best with a particular radio. Before flashing any new rom, read to see if the chef suggests a certain one.

No, the security lock only prevents you from switching carriers. Shouldn't affect the radio.
And in any case the phone doesn't have to be unlocked to install a custom ROM, it has to have a different hard SPL.
I have had this phone a little over a month now leaving behind my 4th touch pro. So far i have found nothing on here for my poor snap No roms, no nothing made just for snap. 6.5 is out for sprint has anyone tried to cook that one up and unlock the vendor stuff? Im not much of a hacker or anything but theres gotta be something for this little guy. Its quick but bein left behind on 6.1
Get back to me thanks
Yeah if you are on sprint you should have the Snal S511. Check the serial number and if you see S511 then follow the links below for unlocking and rom.
