Any way to disable proximity sensor while on phone - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi all,
Is there anyway to disable the proximity sensor while on the phone?
When my 4 year old daughter uses the phone, she doesn't always hold it on her ear and the screen will go on and off and her face ends up pressing buttons and hangs up on whomever she's talking to.
I tried pressing the power button to turn the screen off, but once you touch the proximity sensor the screeen comes back on.
I'm using the stock Sprint ROM. Please help this is the most annoying feature of this phone.
Thanks i advance
-J

i saw that option in advanced config tools, if im not wrong

Nope, i just installed it and checked. It's not in there. Thanks for the suggestion though.
any other ideas?

S2U2 can turn off the screen on a call, haven't tried it on the TP2/Tilt 2 yet though as I personally like the proximity sensor, although sometimes I find it doesn't work.
FYI, when I let my 4yo use my Tilt 2 it's in speakerphone..

TouchLockPro
You can try TouchLockPro, it has a built in InCallTweak, using the GSensor.

Proximity Sensor

Hey i don't know if this deserves its own thread or not, but i think it'd be pretty cool if the proximity sensor on the Touch Pro 2 could be used like those on blackberries, that when you put the phone in your pocket or a case with the screen on the screen would automatically turn off then turn back on when you took it out. Don't know if this would be possible but it is a really cool concept. Thanks
blackberries turn on cause theres a little magnet in the cases that turn on and off the screen. i dont think any blackberries have a proximity sensor. the storm is the only one with a touch screen to accidentally hit but you have to click it to do anything, and if your pushing a bb hard enough into your face to make the screen click, you deserve the have it push random buttons.
oh ok, that kinda sucks, still be kinda cool if it could be done though
i was wondering if theres some way to change the sensitivity or distance of the proximity sensor, i notice when my wife was using the phone the screen would turn on and off randomly i guess because of the way she was holding it to her ear, then i started noticing through the corner of my eye that my phone was doing this as well, it must think i've pulled it away from my ear when it senses different cavities in my ear, i'd like to turn it up to an extra 1/2" or so when i do hold the phone to my ear i know for certain it stays off, and when i really do pull it away from my head the screen wakes up. has anyone found the settings for this yet? i'm running juicy rom and my wife has mightyrom

you could have it that way but you would need to disable the power off after x minutes. then all you would need to do is keep the proximity sensor enabled
Changescreen has an option under the advanced settings to suspend the phone when it's placed face down or in your pocket (as long as its put in your pocket upside down). It doesn't turn back on when you pick it up or take it out of your pocket though, you have to hit the suspend button for that. I'd reccomend checking it out.
Oh ya it also does screen rotation via the G-sensor.

I'm not sure if Changescreen actually uses the proximity sensor. It will shut off the screen even if you turn it upside down in the air. And I have found on numerous occasions that it still leaves the screen on in your pocket, which is too bad because it's handy to have.
Try PocketShield. It will automatically shut the screen off when put in your pocket or case. There is a free and paid version.

I'm with t0mmyr on this issue.
I too find that when having been on a call, my screen can end up with started apps, on the programs page, etc.
I too think that a 'tweak' on the proximity sensor will go a long way to fixing this issue. The trick is to find exactly what to tweak and this is where we need a little guru-like guidence.......!!!

Thx for the heads-up
I looked into them but with no result.
There must surely be a way to 'fiddle' with the range..?
Cheers

i dont think there is a boost on range. i think the emitter intensity is fixed and would require hardware tinkering to make reflections on object brighter for the receiving sensor.

Actually I played with it a little and realized that it does in fact use the proximty sensor and g sensor. It just seems to bug up some times (or it just might be my device)
Not just yours mine does this as well. I make sure I don't move the phone away from my ear at all but if it is a long call it always seems that either the notification bar or the start button got pressed during the call. It is driving me nuts. I had a program written by someone on XDA for my Fuze that worked awesome called touch in-call screen tweak I want that functionality with the tilt 2

TouchLockPro has InCallTweak built in. See youtube video in the link. And recently also has added ZoomBar unlock. And it is *FREE*

Assign button to wake up screen

Hello,
I have my desire with a faulty proximity sensor, witch means that sometimes I cant hang up my phone calls
Is there any application that can assign any hardware button for my screen to wake up during a phone call?
I tried programs that claim to do that, but the information and action performed by the proximity sensor seems to override all programs.
can someone help me?
best regards
Does the power button not do this?
hi,
nope
with an active call and proximity sensor on, I cant get any hardware button to work.

Then no .
Just go to your retailer with it. If it's under warranty, they're obligated to replace it for you.
it's not under warranty...
isnt there a way to disable the proximity sensor? I wouldn't mind if the screen stays on all the time when in call..
can someone help?
regards
Turn your screen timeout to 30 mins? If your proximity sensor isn't working then it won't turn the screen dark when you put the phone to your ear.

My problem might be with the two sensors (proximity and light). As soon as I make a call the proximity sensor orders the screen to shut down and to wake up the screen I have to point a bright light...
I think the solution... if there is... is to disable the proximity and light sensor forcing values.
any help besides get the phone to repair and pay $$$$
If you plugin the headset you get the screen back.

[Q] Phone Call Proximity Sensor

Noticed recently that When a phone call is in progress, the screen will go black no matter what and to get it to come back i have to manual hit the top power button.
I first noticed it with energy rom. When autobacklight was enabled, their was no getting back to screen at all. Disabling autobacklight at least allowed me to get the screen back after clicking the power button.
I switched to core cell rom and noticed the same issue, however, i can manually turn the screen on again even if autobacklight is enabled.
I have no further problems with the proximity sensor, just this one.
Is their perhaps some sort of proximity app that i could use to diagnose whether this is a hardware problem or software problem?
Ok, I had a similar issue, where the phone screen would turn off as soon as the "send" button was pressed, and the only way to turn it back on was either hanging up, or waiting till it felt like coming back on.
My proximity sensor was stuck "on". I could see the sensor status in the registry (don't remember offhand the reg entry, but it's a live reading of the sensor, 1 or 0). I installed "Proximity Sensor for Screen Off v0.2" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624206
That was a mistake on my part, though... then the screen wouldn't come back on! It took some real finagling to get the screen on.
To fix it (temporary? permanent? dunno...) I waved a small neodymium magnet over the sensor (near the ear speaker). I have no clue why that worked. I don't know why it stopped. I *definitely* don't know if that's the issue you are having. But it's worth a shot
I've never had this issue after many different iterations of the Energy ROM.
Do you run Task29 when you flash ROMs?
Yeah i always task29. I don't believe it is the rom since i have tried another rom and the problem persisted. I tried the magnet idea but it didn't work. It was a refrigerator magnet though so i didn't expect it to. Anything else that requires the prox. sensor to work, has no problems and that is why this is weird to me.

[Q] Disable proximity sensor/Button to wake up screen

Hey guys.
I have a desire which has been dropped and the screen in the top left corner cracked. The proximity sensor is damaged, and I can test with various apps that this is indeed broken.
Now, when I get or make a call, the screen turns off, but since the proximity sensor isn't working, it's not turning on again when I move the phone away from my ear. So I wanted to know if anyone knew of a way of either completely disabling the feature, or a way of manually "waking" the screen again, by using any of the hard-buttons?
Thanks
what happens.. when you press power button
Sometimes it comes on, but mostly it doesn't... Regardless of which button I press...
I have read somwhere.. that by blowing some air over that part.. may clear any blocakge.. and proximity sensor works fine.. just try this .. use any vaccume cleaner.. and blow some air over sensor part..
And if that doesnt work.. search for this app in market "'Proximity Screen Off' ".. it might help you.
Yeah, I read that too... Tried blowing with compressed air even. The sensor is dead :/
Try this app.. it will switch your proximity sesor off after call ended.. its not mine just found. you might wanna try this

Same Problem
I had the same problem, I found it was the cover I had on my phone that prevented the phone to go back on during a call.
This is a problem related to the proximity sensor. It's something very hard to clean so I just disabled turn off screen during calls option. Just go to your dialer press menu button then click call settings you should see turn of screen calls option, disable it.
Your cheek probably touch to screen and press random buttons when you're on the phone so remember to turn off your screen by on off button so you dont touch buttons with your cheek.
Hope that solves your problem
edit: I found that sometimes blowing through the speaker makes proximity sensor work correctly for a while. It's not a practical solution though.

Thanks for the information everyone! I busted the screen a few months ago and assume that's whats causing it. I just didn't think that was it because it hadn't been a problem until well after I busted it. Ill disable this option and that will take care of it for my needs.
