Hi all,
I just wrote a small application to change manila language on the fly, don't know if any other application exist to accomplish this task but I was not able to find one so I decided to write my own. MLM connects to my server and checks which languages are available for a given manila build allowing you to:
- Download a language pack for a given manila/sense build
- Install the _manila files in windows directory
- Set the proper registry values
You can choose to execute the operations in separated steps since the language pack (about 50Kb each) are stored on the mobile after download. You can even work offline but only with the builds/languages you have already downloaded.
How to use it:
1) Check your manila build version (you can get it from settings tab => device information, software information)
2) Open Manila language manager
3) Click on "check avail build" from left menu key to fetch builds from server or from disk if you are working offline
4) Select your build and preferred language
5) Click on Go button.
6) Wait for manila to load
REMEMBER:
- Needs .net compact framework 3.5 to work
- Application is at a very early development stage, it works flawlessly on my touch hd (latest NRG rom) but I won't take any responsability in the event it messes up your windows mobile installation so use it at your own risk.

Could you explain better ? Not sure of what you are referring to but sms notification should be a system feature not manila, hence you cannot translate it using this application.
if i change the manila language ( from english to spanish ) the sms notification does not work ( dont wake up my device and dont sound the alert ), if i change the manila language to english again, it works ok.
i mean :
english language ->> the alert sounds on new sms, and wake up the phone to view the incomming sms.
spanish language->> dont sound on new sms, dont wake up my device, only pressing the power buttom appear the new sms icon ( but no alert/sound/wake up/ nothing )
Really strange, I've checked all the files inside the language packs es-es, ca-es, es-es_tradnl and they are all about language translation, nothing else. I'll let you know as soon as I discover anything.

According to what I am reading in the latest NRG rom thread, it seems to be a bug in the rom that occurs whenever you change the language code. It's not related to MLM, it would behave same way if you change the code manually in the registry.

Confirmed working for 407 de-de on latest Energy ROM!
Since most ROMs are missing all but the WWE notifications files, changing the language will disable SMS sound and popup.
Take the files in the attached archive, rename them according to your MUI value, and copy to \Windows
@smog: could this be integrated into your app?

Based on the Black v3.0.1, I have changed the following:
- Remove English SIPs (Letter Recognizer, Block Recognizer etc).
- Set Keyboard SIP as default.
- Included Windows CHT IME (M$ Phonetic & Chajei).
- Included Windows CHS IME (M$ PinYin).
- Included Windows JPN IME (M$ Kana & Romaji).
- Included PIM Backup v1.9.0.0
- Added CommManagerVibrateFix.
- Applied WM VI Black Update BT Drivers.cab.
- Added mingliu font, change wince.nls for Chinese/Japanese/Korean support (Korean need proper fonts).
- Added ClearTemp v0.9.2.4.
- Enabled NITZ time sync by default.
- HTC X-Button/Task Manager updated to v1.5.
- Replaced IA_Zip with PocketRAR v3.6 (freeware)
- Added VistaHide Battery Bar.
- Added SIP_CHT, SIP_CHS, SIP_JPN cab files for change SIPs (located in \Windows\)
- Replaced built-in MobileCalculator to Eval.
- Upgraded Office to 2007 version. (support docx, xlsx, pptx etc)
I've also included 3 cab file in the \Windows folder -- SIP_CHT.cab SIP_CHS.cab SIP_JPN.cab
Please remember to install one of the cab file to enable the inputs (soft reset after installation), otherwise only english input is available.

I just installed the rom, and I notice that the font size is funny. The default size for the menu item does not change even if i change it in the screen adjustment screen (Settings-> system -> Screen). This does not happen with your old rom...

Hi, I realised this problem too, it is due to a reg key for chinese to enable "line break" (not sure if you have seen this problem on the previous version or not), if you use PIE to visit chinese/japanese websites, the text would not break into lines properly.
Once I added change the reg key the line break problem solved.
what you can do is change the reg key back to english one, use the RegEdit problem in System, find the key called "SystemLCID", change the value from 404 to 409 and do a soft reset, should fix your problem
X01HT Installed and Working Well!
Well done Ricky, awesome job. I found the Japanese input pretty painful, as it didn't have the correct romaji option, instead the layout for a true Japanese keyboard, which the X01HT doesn't have.
I used Asukal's one (tried to upload, but no go) and that is exactly as it should be. You might look at replacing your's with that one.
I will let you know how it goes as I run it through its paces, but its looking impressive so far.

Thanks Ricky.. I notice text break problem too, and this happens even with regular English rom + CE-Star.. so I guess we can only choose no line breaks, or weird font size... :-\
I've been runing the ROM ever since it went up and haven't had to do a reset yet, whereas with the straight Black 3.01 with the hacks to get it using Japanese, I found myself resetting 5 or more times a day.

I'm trying to muck around with Black 3.5. and the Asukal one I've been using up until now doesn't want to work properly.
flashed this no prob. used it to replace 3des + CE Star, which was a very unstable combination.
this is working great. fine job Ricky, and also to whoever did black. Nice ROM. I love my phone again.
anyone know where there is a manual on the input methods. they take some getting used to after CEStar, a manual would help.

Really , just can't enable kansaku & tegaki. On 3.5 & all the new released roms.
Yes. All versions > 2.5 seemed not support SIP switching.
I guess some REGISTRY changed.
I switched to LVSW two weeks ago.

This is a ROM based on Schap's ROM with additional chinese/japanese support, it is still an english based rom but is capable to display chinese and japanese, I also added in the Tao's 10 Buttons Kaiser CommManager and some useful programs. However, the Advanced Configurator is not working because of the new commmanager.

1º)I have Japanese I/O enabled, with "Roma/Kana" SIP by default (via SIP change of Sheult). But when I open a program, always "hiragana" write is default one, and I need to change to "romanji" (normal English input); but no I idea how to do it (><)
That isn't put "Keyboard" SIP for english input; it's Japanese input, but romanji by default. I hope I explain myself.

first of all, it does not contain any language specific SIP, therefore you can install the one you preferred... The ROM is based on the normal version, you dont have to switch in between chinese/japanese as the GUI is in English but support read/write in chinese/japanese.

2. as for the Yahoo! Keitai, I have no idea on how to access it, I tried to search on Google but there is no any information about how to connect it.. so..

Wisbar Font
When I use wisbar version 2.8, the font on the start menu and the bottom soft button seems to small. Any advices please?
(For normal (non-wisbar) start menu, the font is ok.)

Do you mind to explain how you add the chinese support to the ROM file? which kitchen are you using? and where did you find the win.nls file?

I dont use any of the kitchen, I tried bepe's kitchen before however the CHT one didnt work well, so I decided to use cooked ROM and reheat again
all I do is,
1. use NBHextract to extract .nb from .nbh
2. use NBDump.bat to dump .nb file into a folder
3. put mingliu.ac3 and replace wince.nls into the folder
4. use koch's tools to edit default.hv / user.hv (registry)
5. use NBBuild.bat to build .nb file
6. use koch's tools to build from .nb file to .nbh file
that's all
Schap's WM6 Pro 3.54b seems like a mature ROM, and maybe a great idea to do a CHT support

Hi Rick,
2 small issue might need your help:
1. the Chinese music title will not display correctly while setting region to (Enlish United States), and I have to set to Taiwan or HK to display coeectly. But if I set region to Taiwan, the phone number will not display the way I wanted. For example: The regular view of any incoming call display as: (626) 555-7777, and it will only display as: 6265557777. No "()".
2. The phone address book does not display right on my Mercedes. The old version will shows address book and call history.
See if you can help out. This is an issue with all ROM with CHTsupport

too bad. is there a work around on how to use the eT9 as default keyboard input?
another cooker great =] .... if ur modifying kavana's rom is it possible to remove clear storage ,usb storage ,flashlite,office mobile and ucweb from the rom it would make it alot better also the apps mentioned in the post above
i got mine to hide the word nw it just shows a line under the word nothing else it doesnt bother as much anymore bt am still messing with the registry for it

I get to 3% and it stops, reboots my phone and pops up error 270 saying the file is corrupted.
first thing you have to do is install the application unlocker, then remove your microSD, then reboot your phone, then upgrade your phone
when you use the upgrade installer, answer "NO" when it asks you if you have an UNLOCKED device

I've installed it and it´s very swift, thanks for changing the font. Whwn I'm in the program screen, instead of a battery I get a chinese symbol! Would't it be difficult to do a ROM in spanish?

Just flashed it, it seems just as great as kavana's but without UCWEB (I was going insane trying to change UCWEB into English) and the Chinese software.
However, keeping OMAPclock and Resco Explorer would have been cool -- of course I know you can download 'em, but it's just a convenience thing.

A Hard Reset is recommended after flashing for better performance.
Flashing can be done either via USB using CustomRUU or using the internal storage method.

My Roms are not designed with lots of storage space in mind. They are designed to be full roms with all the apps in the standard release that you would generally need. They come with considerably more storage space than the original diamond roms however I do not tweak them to get the most space out of them as that is not the point to me (we have 4gb storage anyway).
Please do not request superlight versions as I do not plan to make one. The light version is designed to be a base for other UI's than diamond manila, not a stripped down build.
If you have any questions or bugs, please do not PM me, post in the thread instead so the community can help you fix them. I do not respond to bug reports or requests via PM unless it is something you are working with me on.

(cosmetic) The notification for comm manager that confirms which operator to use is slightly cut off but fully readable.
This issue only occurs on this one notification as far as I can tell so not an issue. This notification also only comes once. All other notifications properly sized.
Users of CE-Star (Chinese) need to install cab for Chinese text in menus to work properly - available on download link - thanks lucasjohny

Notification manager has a minor issue: Clicking on new text message notification doesn't autoclose the notification manager. Click close manually. All other notifications are OK. Notification manager is easily disabled using the Enhanced Settings App I provide.
Lite Version with topaz keyboard only has an issue with displaying the correct font in volume control & Connect to PC screens. Cabfix at the top of this post.

Differences between Full & Lite Builds
Lite builds are identical to full in customisation and cooked in apps except of the following changes:
Removed Manila
Removed Opera (just install your preferred version)
Removed Album 2.5 as this is available with Manila2
Removed Google Maps
Removed Topaz Email Setup (included with manila2 packages)
No other apps removed
This is not designed to be a very lite build, just a good base to install manila2 or other ui's on.
What is the Standard version about?
The standard version is basically my full rom with alot of the customisations & extra programs removed. E.g all programs in System Tools are removed file explorer ext is removed, The battery icons have been reverted to default diamond, SMS Sent notification/Wake on SMS is set to default & Data connections are set to the default option of staying connected rather than disconnecting after 5 minutes. The Topaz Icons are included along with the updates from topaz e.g. menuenhancement & notification manager. Think of it as a tweaked stock rom with updates from topaz. Rom still contains smsinboxthreading & gb-soft gprs setting app but all other extra apps including facebook are removed. Standard Oem/Sys apps still remain.
What is the StdLite version about?
This is the same as the standard version however Manila, Opera, Google Maps, Email Setup Wizard, Album & GB-Soft GPRS tweak are removed. Again not a superlite build but a good base for using other UI's. This does not contain any system tools or many customisations. (same tweaks/setup as standard)

I'll remove this info. It's just something that has previously been discussed for this and other htc deviced and i have found charging to 100% before a hard reset appears to work better.

hi mate, nice rom. The only problem I have come across so far is that when there is an incoming call, you cannot answer it by using the touch function. None of the touch buttons will respond.

no probs. there are further settings to customise this in the registry at
HKCU\Software\DRvDijk\AnswerkeysDisabler
You could set it so the screen is only disabled on incoming calls if the power is off

- To remove this message, go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell and delete the folder "Device Beta" and all its contents and soft reset!
Also, make sure you enable the magnifier, its really cool -

Here's the first serious ROM cooked for release! Its based on 23053, with a special theme i've made for the i780!
This is a 96dpi build based on WM6.5 23053.
Here are the features -
- Fixed initial buttons default config
- 128 DPI bigger 3 column programs list with high res icons!
- New custom theme designed for the i780
- Square soft key buttons (no more oval crap!), Checkboxes, radio buttons, buttons etc. with new cool graphics (choose dt39AllBlack theme to activate these)
- Softkey menu popups are the right size and have shadowed menu borders (not too big or too small )
- Lots of reg tweaks to improve performance
- Programs list scrolls seamlessly till the end
- Separate version with English ROM and Russian keyboard
Installation Instructions-
1. Flash the rom - default procedure (If you dont know how, google it, dont ask how to on this thread)
2. Hard reset - default procedure (If you dont know how, google it, dont ask how to on this thread)
3. Boot up, and change theme to "dt39AllBlack"
Known Issues
- On first boot "Send SMS Message" button does not send. This is a bug in 23053. Just soft reset once, and it will work fine.
- Phone app has a small gap. Nothing can be done on this
- Mouse bug (need new drivers)
- Owner information missing (will be fixed in next release). Here's the temporary fix for that. Use a registry editor and delete the "Redirect" key under HKLM\ControlPanel\Owner.

i prefer an all black plain background instead of pictures

That's Unreal Tournaments player character concept art btw
You can always set your custom background by opening any other picture and setting as home screen background.

Here's the first serious ROM cooked for release! Its based on 23053, with a special theme i've made for the i780!
This is a 96dpi build based on WM6.5 23053.
Here are the features -
- Fixed initial buttons default config
- 128 DPI bigger 3 column programs list with high res icons!
- New custom theme designed for the i780
- Square soft key buttons (no more oval crap!), Checkboxes, radio buttons, buttons etc. with new cool graphics (choose dt39AllBlack theme to activate these)
- Softkey menu popups are the right size and have shadowed menu borders (not too big or too small )
- Lots of reg tweaks to improve performance
- Programs list scrolls seamlessly till the end
- Separate version with English ROM and Russian keyboard
Installation Instructions-
1. Flash the rom - default procedure (If you dont know how, google it, dont ask how to on this thread)
2. Hard reset - default procedure (If you dont know how, google it, dont ask how to on this thread)
3. Boot up, and change theme to "dt39AllBlack"
Known Issues
- On first boot "Send SMS Message" button does not send. This is a bug in 23053. Just soft reset once, and it will work fine.
- Phone app has a small gap. Nothing can be done on this
- Mouse bug (need new drivers)

yep ssr. But my previous post was not any serious rom was more of a latest wm6.5 build port - no customizations/tweaks etc. From now on, will keep this thread constant....unless theres reason to start a new one

i've dropped in 128dpi icons for the programs list. Increased the menu item size just so much that they are finger friendly and legible. I'd suggest that you try this out, and let me know what hurts to read which is better in 128dpi - and i'll try and bring that in onto the same 96dpi rom.
The idea is to have a unified rom - which is finger friendly, usable and readable.
