Ok, I've been searching the forums and around for my question and couldn't find anything so I'm biting the bullet and posting a thread .
My question is is there away to add sounds for the alarm , I can add ringtones no problem but I even tried adding sound files into my windows folder where the other sounds are listed for my alarm , but that didn't work and I cant stand the 2 alarm sounds that come stock. Thanks
also does anyone have the name or thread for the program that closes applications when your done with it?
read thisHere you go,
I've had my TP2 for about 2 months now, and I'm waking up to the same lame sound every morning on my alarm. Now I've looked around on the forum, pretty much everywhere, and can't find a thing on it. (Or there's just too much, and I skipped it?)
So here it goes:
Does anyone know how to change the alarmtone? I would've thought it'd be the same as changing your ringtone on TP2, but I guess not.
Any ideas? All the standard alarm sounds on there are so lame. It's a ***** to wake up to it every morning.
Put the tone you want directly in My Documents. Not My Documents/Ringtones. Then it will show up in the list of options. At least, it did for me on the stock T-Mobile ROM and on all of the Energy Roms.

Wow...it's a ghost town here. This is big news people!
That's gonna be really really amazing.
THX!
Tried it like 2 mins after they posted it up on twitter and it worked perfect. If there's any Fringe fans out there you may like the attached ringtone. I grabbed it from a rom I downloaded a while back and converted for use on WP7.
Oh my...I still wasn't able to unlock my Omnia7 with chevron-application. Always getting the USB error.
But I'd really like to have my custom ringtones
This works for me. Just dandy!!
For those who like Indiana Jones... 2 different tunes
Basic ringtone
Here is a basic ringtone. No Fur Elise, no Lady Gaga.... Just...
bleeleeleeleep .... bleeleeleeleep .... bleeleeleeleep ....
Was it sooooo much to ask for, that the phone come stock with an absolutely boring, non-personality ringtone?
Only problem I'm having is finding a converter to make them MWV
here you go , its 100% free and worked real well.
You can use (free) Microsoft Expression Encoder.

I tried this one but it isn't one for noob's ( I am that noob and I didn't understand a F*** of it )
Does the ringtone manager allow you to set your own alarm sounds / sms tones too?
No, only ringtones.
And you can only add new ringtones, not modify or delete existing.

Thx I'm gonna give it a try when I get home
Also, I think Microsoft Expression Encoder is free. You can convert.... almost anything to well... almost anything. Definitely to 48Khz WMA.
the ringtone it work.. well i added 5 personal ringtone
Just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone that think otherwise...if you add 5 ringtones through the XAP and then reload an additional 5 ringtones it won't replace the ringtones, you'll get the other 5 (or more) in addition. Don't know if anyone was curious, but I was so I experimented with it.
Seeing how MS blocked/demanded they remove their other hacks, maybe someone should put a backup location for this app, just in case.

It doesn't have to be 48khz. I've loaded a few 44.1khz wmas and Chris Walsh himself acknowledged that 44.1 khz works as well in the comments.
Ok... I have been searching for an answer and I cannot find this anywhere.
If I have an unread text message, when I reboot my phone I get this annoying "song" letting me know I have an unread text message. It does not stop until I unlock the phone and at least pull down the notification bar.
I think it is some version of the "over the horizon" jingle.. I have searched in the system/media folder to see if it is located there in order to delete it, however the only one that sounded similar was the acoustic "over the horizion" .ogg - but renaming that with .bak at the end did not rectify the problem.
Does anyone know where the system is pulling this sound from? I want to replace it with something a little more.. mature. Or get rid of it all together.
Any help is appreciated. If you don't know what I am talking about, please leave the thread for more experienced users to reply instead of cluttering it with questions.

It's not going to be easy to help you without asking a question, but I'll try.
Check the Notifications folder on intsd for the sound file. If not there, you can search for audio files with any file explorer to find it. But the folder you checked and the one I listed are going to be the most common places for notifications.
Stop using stock Samsung messaging app because it's garbage. In any case, you've overlooked a setting (in messenger app), probably.
I have already run a search using root explorer that covered the entire system, and did not find any .ogg or .wav sound files I had not already checked.
It's not a setting in the stock messaging app (which, btw, works perfectly for me and definitely better than any 3rd party messaging app IMO)
There's nothing in the internal SD card notification folder except for the facebook pop sound. Only a beginner would not have checked that.
This is why I said let more experienced users answer, preferable Devs who understand the architecture of the stock GS3 system folders.
The further I look into this issue, the more I am beginning to think it's a T-Mobile function that cannot be disabled in the stock ROM without modifying the ROM itself. I have found threads in other forums where it's even an issue in T-Mobile Windows phones.
I do however remember there was a way to disable it on one of my old phones.. either the MyTouch 4G or the SGS2.. but I cannot find the xda thread from way back then.
My search continues.. I will post any information I find out.
Update: Checked the build.prop file and I can see where the default "alarm_alert=Walk_in_the_forest.ogg" is called out, however I do not think this is the cause as that .ogg file does not sound like the alert I am hearing. I believe the line of code I am looking at only dictates the default alarm sound. Continuing to troubleshoot..
Have you ever been in a crowded noisy place, and someone tried to call you, but you couldn't hear you own phone? Here is a cute little ringtone than will set you apart. Its that classic really irritating car alarm sound. I recorded this myself, and converted it into a ogg file.

Here's a another you might like. It's from LMFAO.

edit: I corrected the url above.. Sorry guys.
I won't use it but you deserve a Thanks just for effort...lol
I use these ringtones and like them. Thanks
