It wuold be very nice if someone write a comparison table (pro,cons,features,speed,stability,impressions...) of roms actually availables:
- tom BB 4.1
- meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full
- meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE
- Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2
What do you think about?
TY Guys for your work.
bye
That would be nice; I only tried B&B 4.0 and I am about to upgrade to B&B 4.1.
It would be great to hear from the other people that tried different builds to see what their opinion is.
Add a poll, the results will be more clear.
i tried all Rom :
1)-- Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2 : Fast but not Stable else have many problem
2)-- meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE : Stable,Fast but not Touch Flo Cube
3)-- meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full : Stable , have Support Touch Flo cube but used old Build ( Original Build )
4)-- Tom BB 4.1 : New Build Based .So fast and Stable, Update many new Applications and have TFSetting Tool by Tom.U can change Button Free Active Touch Flo cube ( Love it )
1+2+3+4 ===> I using V4.1 and love it..
Cheers..!
Totally agree with capital, previous post. I'm just after installation of Tom's B&B 4.1, switched from meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full. I'v had before meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE and the first beta of Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2.
I'm impressed with Tom's B&B 4.1. Finally I'v got A LOT of RAM memory, it runs very fast (I'm using wisbar advance and wisbar advance desktop with it), but switched off the cube - not necessary with htc home today plugin, where I'v got all the shortcuts.
Configuration in every ROM is taking me about 2-3h, I'm after this right now and I must say, I found my OS for the next...month or so.
Tom's Black & Blue 4.1, totally amazing. Much, much better than B&B 4.0. That's my opinion. Good work Tom .
Guess I am going with B&B 4.1 Lite (all the goodies and stable) .... the other one I have liked so far was Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE (very stable), Lite version as well.
I can just confirm the above. BB4.1 full at the moment without any problems
Yes, Tom's 4.1 seems working very well. Didn't try meschle's Rom's (but i downloaded them...who knows ?! ).
Fracoons Rom (beta2) was running stable but i installed too much apps so the filexplorer sometimes hang up for approx. 1 minute...perhaps it was my fault. I don't know...
Tom's 4.1 has the most flexible tool to handle Tochflo (enable/disable TouchFlo, Scrolling, Scrolling sound) and changing finger-activation is very easy with this ROM. The only "bug" i found is in BatteryStatus: When you select "Row1" it disappears, but that's not a problem for me and i think it's easily changable with the xml file ?
At the beginning i hated the colored HTC home, but now i like it. IMHO It's better when you're outside to recognitize the differnt buttons. And Memory....it's amazing...when you start the phone there are about 29 mb free (program) and about 40mb free (storage) ! I never had this with other ROMs (anybody else?)
Vote now!
New pool started!
Hi,
I'm verry happy with Tom's B&B V4.1 (only blacklight problem...but it's not important for me)
I tried:
- Fracoon's rom -> not stable, of course, it's a beta!!!
- Meschle's rom with TF(Full) -> Stable, but i had problems with Hbuttons...think because of me (i'm still a newbie...just see when i join this forum)
- aje_fr's rom -> not stable for me (i had some problems with some programs)
As i am a french newbie, sorry for my english and i'm still waiting for an amazing french rom
There are 2 most importants things for me :
First, is that I want to say THANK YOU for all rom's cookers : without them, my artemis device would stay in stony age
Second, it's not so important to compare roms because it depends on our feelings and we are all different!!!
Cheers
PS: thx XDA !!!!!!! apologize me if i've forgotten some one
The Sweetest Thing...
You know what, no matter which ROM gets the popular vote the real winner is freedom of choice.
Having foolishly tied myself to O2 ROMs for too long to be 'safe', I can now pick from any of these excellent ROMs.
In recent weeks I have gone from an O2 Orbit that I couldn't wait to upgrade because it was slow and unreliable to a brand new Artemis that is fast, fun, functional, flexible and funky...I only keep the cube on there to impress my mates...and it sure as hell does that!
bb4.1
Hi i tried bb3.7,4.0 and lite from Meschle's.After using all I have to say Tom's 4.1 is the best
Meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE LITE - all the way.
Tried B&B 4.1 and it was way too buggy for me, too unstable, kept having to softreset.
Had Meschles Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE LITE, and its perfect, fast not as much ram but still great.
I've voted for the 4.1 BUT I must say that in the last few days i had to do a lot of resets I have the feeling that 4.1 isn't faster than 4.0 and when I'm connected to my pc and active sync is working I can't do anything anymore on 4.1 while with 4.0 everything was still working
But one big plus with 4.1 for me is the camera (gps, movie, contacts and dir) is working again.
So for now I stay with 4.1!!!
Hmmm who should i vote for - i cant decide.
Poll will need updating as i release o2 premier plus rom soon
btw thanks for all that have voted for my roms its encourages me to continue cooking.
i love my DUTCH rom
hi all...
i love my own created dutch rom...
i know it has some bug but i am busy with it...
(windows mobile 6 DUTCH on artemis mda tmobile compact 3)

M.
Meschle rocks!
Just casted my vote...
I must say that the rom produced by Meschle is the best one yet on my Artemis. The Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE FULL!
I like it for it's stability, no glitches whatsoever, and all the cool apps already inside it! It makes working with my pda so much fun! I tried Fracoon's rom which was also very good. Tom's rom is a bit faster, but for me it isn't as sweet as Meschle's.
But I also want to say that I recognize the hard work that ALL the wizards put in the creation of their rom's.
How lucky are we - fellow forumers -that we have the luxary of choosing between all these great rom's. Great work you guys, and thank you all!
have only tested 4.0 and 4.1 and like 4.0 way better . great rom
I,ve tested all of them...
anyway they are all great... but the best for me is:
meschle Touch WWE 1.0 lite
Why?
a) absolute stable
b) bugfree
c) perfect service by meschle
d) all in it what i need
e) much free rom
f) fast enough (not the quickest)
g) I can arrange it the way I like... latest Pocket CM and Keyboard....
h) no problems with any other software like batterystatus.
Look and read meschle´s thread and you know what I mean...
A perfect rom for me
Cheers and regards Anja31
I'm not Cube'ist, some of my best friends are cubes!
Meschle [NEW ROM] O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE
Stable, faster than original its based on! and no bugs for me
Also not having the cube but still looking good is a winner for me.
Now Meschle is teasing with talk of a new o2 premier plus so things can only get better
But still much cred to the other chefs
Hi,

Beta 47 initial review
Although i am not a big fan of M2D, and V47 is M2D rom, I am going to give it a try. I am running it for few minutes only, so i can't give any real feedback, besides the obvious. First- WM6.5 (M2D off) takes about 28M RAM, and since the page pool is set to 6M, there are only 48M RAM to begin with. This gives only 20M of free RAM. Kind of low than i want, but considering WM6.5 it was expected. With M2D on (as set as default) there are only 12M free RAM. That is BEFORE trying to have anything else, or changing tabs...
Phone wakes up with wrong time and date (not a big deal) , and finds the right network nice (I am in the US). One graphic bug is obvious- task manager and X button are too big, and cover the clock on the top right corner of the upper bar.
Free memory (applications) after installation (nothing added) is 48.22M total, of which 4.74M are taken. Pretty low, considering other roms with 70M. I guess M2D and the new WM are bigger.
I have changed page pool to 4M, gaining extra 2M RAM, and it seems to be stable and fast enough for my needs. 51M RAM, of which 18.55M free with M2D on, and 20M RAM.
The next step I took was trying to sync time using the tool called 'Synchro time'. As soon as I did, a pop-up message told me the rom is a 7 day trial, and right after that I have a 'screen of death' on my phone telling me: "that concludes the beta test of the software..."
I don't know if this is because of the time sync or not. I had to hard reset the phone and start all over, hoping it will not happen again that soon..
I let M2D run, not doing anything on the phone. After 15 minutes I was left with 12M of free RAM. I have installed SKTools, set shadow RAM cleaning, and optimized for maximum memory. Soft reset the phone and it starts with 18.46M free RAM with M2D, 20.51M without. Too low for my taste. using free-up RAM by SKTools gives 23M free if M2D is off.
As for the bee-hive shape of WM6.5 - I find it annoying. applications change location on you, and there is not logical sequence where they will be. I had to scroll 3 pages to find an application, and the scroll isn't smooth. Also- on pop-up windows - the OK button on the top right is missing, but pushing the corner where it suppose to be do close them up.
I am installing email accounts, and will let you know how it goes.. I don't think i will keep it, because it is a memory hog rom, although stable and performance is not too bad.
BigE
Test is over... after 1 hour
Ok folks, memory management of this rom is horrible. I don't know if it WM6.5, or the M2D, but for sure it is impossible to have only 8M RAM free after one hour of use. All i have done was connect to an exchange server, and have made nothing else. Kept the phone aside and looked at memory after an hour. Dropped from 18M to 8M and I think after enough time it would have crashed. it seems memory leaks.
I would be very afraid to leave home with this rom. first it 'expire'. Then it leaks memory, and third the WM6.5 is not my cup of tea at all. I hate the bee-hive and the way it moves on the phone. Only way to organize it is to create folders and move shortcuts around. WM6.5 has some nice tabs and scroll bars, but it does not justify the rest. IMHO it is a draw back from WM6.1 , even if 6.1 isn't perfect at least it works and I know how to work around the bugs. 6.5 is not for trinity, I am afraid...
Ah, there are also at least one shortcut (getting started) that does not work for me (error message trying to run).
Well, it is BETA for a reason, but knowing PDAViet, I would say he tried the impossible and was almost doing a good job. As for myself- i am back to FinixOver 3.7UL and pointui2 as plugin. Quick, 30M free RAM, nice animation and stable like I need. RAM do not leak, and phone is running smooth.
Was it a complete waste of time to try? No, I have learned some good lesson. Will be very suspicious with other WM6.5 roms..
BigE
Additional feedback
Agreeing with all BigE said above, I add:
1) No video call in dialer.
2) "getting started" app does not work.
3) The "titanium" today plug-in is having many of Manilla-2d functionality with (a little) less memory consumption.
4) Uniting advanced power and backlight setting to one screen is (at last) very well welcomed.
5)memory...memory...memory.
I concur with the above findings. It is unfortunately not very responsive. I guess the overhead is too much for our Trinity.
The ROM lags terribly. However, I still appreciate the effort made by PDAViet.

I agree with u chanvi93.
I'm waiting 4 your next wwe release.
Thanx master.
WM6.5
Chanvi93,
Your roms are superb, no doubt, and you are right I am judging WM6.5 by one rom I tried and did not like. So let's hope what we have tried and failed isn't because of 6.5.
Can we hope for super lite WM6.5 rom ? I have tried yours, and have to admit, I liked them much but m2d isn't the right plug-in for me, especially after using pointui home2. So a naked WM6.5 rom WWE sound promising.
looking forward for your rom

Thanks for that Chanvi, I was indeed getting depressed reading this thread! Looking forward to your 6.5 build. Have you decided if you are going to include footprints or not? From what I can see, Iolite / Footprint is asking a lot of our humble Trinities. Previous Manila version has better performance maybe?

Hello
It's done in my threat , 2 versions : Full with Footprint components and Lite without .
Footprint is a great soft for great traveller as me , i use it daily in work , don't need Manila for it so it don't use more ram if you don't launch .
@BigE
Super lite in wm 6.5 is not very good because some short cut and little softs are necessary for use .
not for this thread but anyways
have just flashed Chanvi's 3/8 Wm6.5 lite rom. I will report my testing on his thread, as this one is for PDAViet rom.
See you there in few hours I guess.

a lot of these roms have problems with a program called activesync-killer (or askiller or askilla or something like that) running in the background and conflicting with quickGPS
IIRC some of the roms had a problem with activesync constantly running and taking over processes so askiller was installed into the roms to stop this happening but it then stopped quickGPS running properly.
dont know if this rom has the same thing because i haven't tried it yet, but it might be worth you searching the forum for something like that
I don't know for the battery, free memory after boot with Tflo is 12mb and 19mb without.
But the most important change is the start menu, the most faster than i see on all rom 6.5 tested before.
Nice work, Thanks DEVELOPER
Hi guys, what is the camera version for this rom???
Thanks in advance
thanks guys, camera version and storage space?
ok, i'm beginning to like this rom after my initial disappointment with ram.
IE is a new build as it has the latest version of zoom.
the camera is the old camera though.
A good new version of Diamond's dialler.
i've selected a new background for my today screen and switched off Touchflo 2D. Battery performing well.
the honeycomb takes some getting used to but all essental programs have been included.
Icons are lovely.
CoPilot Gps runs ok so far.
this one could be a keeper...
Ty for this rom
Ty men its realy nice work i think best 6.5 beta what i have tested its so good i not change this rome for next time in notes 3+ or -2 imuss test few days
@cooker:footprints not work withe manila , manila will not start withe footprints.
-New 6.13 camera where cool in next update.

Love the ROM, By far the best & the fastest WM6.5, Quick GPS working fine as well. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Easily the best WM 6.5 ROM out there. And yes, Camera 6.13 would be welcome
Favorties
Excellent Cook !
How can i make to have Favorites.
I switch off TouchFlo,
But i would have to have Favorites number.

I guess there is a yet lot work to do with 6.5 rom.
It still realy slow for everyday use.
But good work.
WM 6.5 looks great! but is it faster than 6.1? I'm currently using Schap's WM6.1 and looking forwarding to an OS upgrade if it provides better speed performance. In addition, which ROM will provide a minimum of 20mb program after load. Thank you for the input
ive used the 6.1 roms for a long time decided to change to a 6.5 rom but i had problems with it such as memory shortage and i didnt like a lot of programs on it. i didnt find it any quicker so have changed back to a 6.1 rom which i prefer. as for choosing a good rom your going to have to flash and look through lots of different roms to find one you like or cook one your self.
Have fun
The core of the 6.5 system is faster than of 6.1 - the problem is how many of those various additions are cooked in. If too many, or badly cooked ROM - as a whole it's slower - but if unnecessary things are removed it's a faster system. The RAM is more problematic - it needs more of it, but after removing some elements and reediting others you can get 25 to even 29 MB of free RAM on 6.5
WM6.5 vs 6

As far as i understand Schaps 4.31 is based on WM version 6 not 6.1 so damikey question should be restated. I havent tried 6.5, maybe when becomes official, so cant answer your question, but I have read in this forum that version 6 core is faster than 6.1... WM6.5 vs 6

No! Absolutely not.
WM6.1 is the most fast and responsive ROM right now, while WM5 was the worst one. WM6 was way better than WM5, but it's slower and less stable than 6.1.
Wm6.5? It depends, as I said before... its core is faster than 6.1 - but UI is just bigger and more resources-hungry.

Do you think using that dll in dev and hacking forum we can increase the speed? maybe with that... we could edit all the icons in dlls and Theme to make it faster than the hell... but i cant figured out how to use it... cause we must to sacrifice a little megabytes of storage.
utak3r rigth...didnt know that, thanks. I have read months ago about unstability problems in 6.1 but maybe the threads were just outdated or google trick me into thinking that. I havent tried myself, just know rigth now about WM5 and 6. So I which a lite stripped down version of 6.5 even without Titanium if were possible just with honey like programs menu to make trials and see how it feels in day to day use and not only by benchmark results... something like that exists rigth now or is in development?
Maybe you or +Que PPC or other chef can do it !!!!!????? would be awesome

Still with doubts I did a quick search and the thread wasnt that old. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496318 some people disagree with the fact that 6.1 is faster. I saw the benchmarks for hermes (dont have the link rigth now) for different cooked ROMs and results were similar between WM6 and 6.1 with the same pagepool.
IMHO maybe as you say the 6.1 CORE could be faster (!?) but some other issues (like only 64mb RAM in Hermes) could make some people FEEL like its slower with their configurations and stick to WM6 or make a jump al the way to 6.5. Its just a thought. damikey only concern is performance and memory in his post, because he have Schaps which is a very stable ROM IMO, but stability, now that you mentioned it, would be another issue (not offtopic). I know you have lot of more experience than me and as I have the same doubt as damikey would be interesting to know about this a little more. I need my tytn as a phone so dont want to flash every week. Thanks again.

there seems to be some progress with the Manilla 2.5 port for the Diamond.
http://www.everythingdiamond.info/showthread.php?t=381
This one is CDMA only and has a few bugs as well as a lot of resizing to be done. But its that little bit closer to the real deal.
gsm port please!!
Manila 2.5 need alots of RAM to runs smooth so its not a good idea to port to a Diamond !!!!!!!!!!!
