New to flashing - need help - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Oke, first of all I'll appologize 'cause I can imagine this same question has been asked several times within the forums ...
However, I've been reading quite a lot about HardSPL flashing an flashing cooked roms, but still I have some questions.
1. If I flash the HardSPL, and something goes wrong during the process, can the phone still be recovered ?
2. Apparently a couple of different versions are available for the TP2. I live in Belgium, and I don't really know which one to use (CDMA, GSM, ...)
I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance
Nick

Welcome aboard
To know if you have a TP2 GSM or CDMA is very easy:
If you have a SIM card most likely you have a GSM
If your TP2 does not need a SIM card most likely you have a CDMA
Here all models:

And here a flashing GSM guide:

Good luck,

Thanks a lot orb3000 !
This sure will help me on my way!

Upgrade Cingular 8525....

Hi guys...
I have cingular 8525. I think it's has been unlocked from the store where I bought it, because I can use it in my country using local network.
The question is If I want to upgrade my ROM can I use custom any ROM that has been posted here?
Thanks all for the help
sim unlock is good but you should hard spl your device to prevent bricking it. there are many threads about this and xda wiki is pretty filled with this stuff so i'd say do your reading/studying and u'll be fine. i'm pretty sure all your questions have been answered, just a matter of reading which does you no harm.

NOOB Needs Help

Hey guys,
I am a frequent XDA user in the RAPHAEL and KAISER forums, but my work requires that I use a Sprint Touch Diamond phone which is based on a CDMA network.
I did a search of the site and read the flashing tutorial, but none of it applied to CDMA.
My question is this: Can I follow the tutorial and HARDSPL a CDMA Diamond and then flash it to any rom in the forum? Or do I need a special CDMA form of HARDSPL, and a CDMA rom?
Any clarification on the matter is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Daniel
For CDMA device, you should probably go to ppcgeeks forum, there's a lot of Sprint users and a lot of CDMA roms. xda-dev is more GSM oriented.
Thanks for the advice, Ill check it out, but I feel that XDA always has more to offer.

Verizon Rhodium "newbie" quesiton please help (unlocking). I have unlocked the SIM

Verizon Rhodium "newbie" quesiton please help (unlocking). I have unlocked the SIM
Sorry if my question is too stupid but here it is:
I own a verizon branded HTC touch pro 2. (Rhodium) I ask verizon for the sim unlock code and they provide me with one. Im now able to put in my at&t card and use it, it works..
My question is: does this mean my phone is fully unlocked?.
can I know install all this great roms I see around, worry free?
or is there something else that has to be done in order to install the cooked roms.
if can install the roms and you can provide me with first time steps as well it would be greatly appriciated.
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure unlocking the SIM is separate from unlocking the phone (HardSPL and allowing unsigned firmware).
if this is correct could someone please explain or post a link as to what HardSPL is . and perhaps where there is a step by step guide on what I need to do in order to install roms
thanks a bunch.
I don't think there's a HardSPL for CDMA phones yet (don't hold me to that), but the ROM development sub-forum is where you want to go. Read the stickies there.

HardSPL for CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) is not out yet.
You can not flash ROMs at this time. Well, you can try... and end up with a bricked phone, but that's totally your call.
thanks everyone.

Chef can't cook?

OK I'm a noob. I've just downloaded Gen.Y_D2_R5.3-WWE.7z for my HTC Touch Diamond P3700. (On Australia's 3G Network)
Now how do I go about installing it in my phone / flashing it? I've read a few posts but obviously it hasn't sunk in my brain. What do I need, is there additional software I need to complete the flashing. I've read a lot of stuff about cooking etc but have no clue.
Cheers, all help would be appreciated.

Well, you're gonna need your reading glasses, lol...this is a good point to start:

and this one is also very usefull:

Anywayz first of all your phone needs HardSPL to be able to flash other roms then the one that came with your device.
I'm sure you'll figure it out, cuz this noob did that too .
O and consider edtiting the subject of your topic cuz this has nothing to do with cooking (= creating a rom) but more with unlocking and flashing custom roms.
Good luck and have fun re inventing your Diamond!
