[APP]Working Rmvb Plugin for WM6.1/6.5 - Windows Mobile Software Development

Not sure it's been posted already or not but I found a working Real Video plugin for our phones. After install it, you will be able to play rmvb/rm files in your WMP, drag to time point is supported!!! I'd like to share it with everyone here.
Files are extracted from the Meizu M8, a Win CE based phone which supports Rmvb formats very well.
How to Install:
Extract the zip file, you will get two folders: 1 and 2.
Copy the four files in folder 1 named:
amc_video_renderer.ax
RADecoderFilter.dll
RealParserFilter.dll
RVDecoderFilter.dll
into "Windows" folder on your phone.
Import the rmvb.reg (in folder 1 as well) into registry then do a soft-rest. This is IMPORTANT, DO it!
After the soft-rest, install the cab file called M8_RMVB_Feit.cab in folder 2, then do a soft-rest again. After that Your WMP will be able to play rmvb and rm files!
I have test it on my touch HD with LIA 13.1 WM 6.5 ROM. I tried a 100mb RV40 file with 848*480 res. 23.98fps 512kbps and AAC2 44.1khz audio. It played ok, a bit lag but watchable, I assume it will be very fast with a lower res rmvb (640*480) and with a wm6.1 ROM. Drag works really fast, the video will jump to the time point almost immediately.
So enjoy it. I have no credit to the thing. All credit goes to guy who made it! Original source: http://club.dopod.com/bbs/showtopic-22101.aspx

thanks you!! i'm trying it.

great! gonna try it too.

Not working very well for the VBR files that I have. But I guess it might be better than nothing for some people. Anyway.. to make the process of adding the registry easier I packed the files for step 1 as well as the Registry Changes into this CAB file. So you can install this cab, reset.. then the M8 CAB

Wow.. there's actually a graphedit like application for Windows Mobile
http://www.gdcl.co.uk/mobile/index.htm
With that I confirmed that.. for VBR files the parser is unable to read the proper framerate. It was reading 6.5fps for the file I was testing it with. Which means it was actually doing a GREAT JOB at decoding the file, just that it was doing it at the wrong framerate.

i got two questions.
1st. can we make one cab of both and install.
2nd. will they work whwen cooked in kitchen or is it mandatory to install them as cabs only??

I think it can be cooked in, just need to covert the cab into OEM.

I wouldn't know. From what I understand about how DirectShow works, I'm guessing that the RMVB parser is unable to figure out the correct framerate of a VBR file and thus is giving out the faulty value. The only way would be to.. get a better parser?

you need to use the "open a file" function in your MWP to allocate the rmvb file

sadly the video and audio does not sync
therefore not usable
tried several different videos on Touch Pro2

what is the res. of your video..I tried one with 848*480, a bit laggy.. I thought I would be better with a lower res file..
however, the best way is still to covert videos to 800*480 mp4 and use HTC album to play it (for newer devices such as your Pro2)

I always thought that all WinMo phones played rmvb out of the box (my Omnia did). Speed is not impressive though...
I did a small MortScript to associate rmvb files with WMP (so you can launch them by clicking them using a file manager).

I tried that already...the video part doesn't work at all...just display black all the time....i can here the sound though

how come that it worked on mine...very strange...
maybe your file is too large? I don't know, just guess.

works fine on my SE X1 ... just that the video lags most likely its taking a punch from processing the VBR audio

VGA vs AKU_3.2 (jwrightmcps)

Hey all,
Can somebody confirm that they have had the Uni working with the AKU_3.2 VGA files in the ftp site and jwright's 3.2 ROM?
I've been running the i-mate default ROM on VGA for almost a year now and decided to switch over to the new 3.2 ROM a few days ago. I don't use ozVGA but use the registry hack straight up with the VGA files and VGA system apps.
But for some reason, I can't get all my icons displaying. I've run sdkcerts countless times, hit the power button waiting for 5 seconds before soft resetting, done multiple reboots changing up the order of sdkcerts and vga file copying... I just can't seem to get it to display all the icons correctly.
I know that I'm missing my volume and my cel reception indicator on the top bar at the very least. I CAN see my wifi icons, clock and magic button icons. On another post I found somebody whose screenshot matched mine and the suggestion was to install the AKU_3.2 VGA files again. I've done that alot.
Any ideas would be appreciated. The Uni is significantly better at VGA.
Thanks.
Hmmmm, something strange is definitely going on... I've installed the original ozVGA cab now and even that has not worked. Same problem, it's not loading the top bar icons.... just like if I had not installed those 96dpi resource files into the Windows directory.
Can anybody confirm or deny that ozVGA works with the AKU 3.2 rom?
And mvrTrueVGA is the winner. Why it seemed to work and the other didn't is beyond me...
So I've compared all the files that mvrTrueVGA installs to the VGA files that are supplied in the AKU_2 zip. Essentially, they are all different (which honestly doesn't say much) but there are some interesting additions.
There are new files.
mismde.96.dll
trares0407.96.dll
Plus two interesting things. First off, I was using Total commander to search for all files that were *.96.*
It found two other files which had some interesting properties...
rires.96.dll -- this file I can see on my pocket pc but can't see it through activesync explorer
shellresapps.96.dll -- this file I can't copy from the PPC to look at it. Activesync complains that it cannot convert it.
Just some interesting info in my investigations.
Hi,
I wanted to try out VGA myself. Would it be too much to ask for a step by step instruction list for "beginers"? Attached files would also make it wonderful.
Thanks very much.
Me too wanna try vga with AKU 3.2 if it's totally safe .

seems safe to me.
Been using it for a while.this is literally just a cab install, it even puts a toggle link in start>programs

Thanks very much. I did not even notice those. Keep the suggestions coming. VGA seems better now even though it is still small.
I copied the files: power, backlight, and microphone mui's to my SD card ran them and got a nice looking files without distortion, I copied the files as suggested to the /Windows folder and did a soft reset. But if I access the power, backlight, and microphone through the Settings Tab, I still get the old distorted image. Is this the way it should be? Am I doing something wrong?

Did you run the .0409.mui exe first? Then copy to Windows? Then remove the trailing .exe from the .0409.exe files? It worked perfectly for me.

Custom Animated Startup Screens

I know that this has been discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't see anything in the Hermes forum.
For those of you with devices that support animated startup screens, you may be interested in this. I have been looking at making custom startup animations and have decided to post the two that I have made so far.
If you like them, let me know as I will probably do some more.
Instructions
Copy the file you want to use (all of mine will be called htcsplashani.gif for simplicity if you wish to change it) to the \Windows directory.
Use a registry editor to change the following value
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation\GIFFile
To: \Windows\htcsplashani.gif
You can use Resco Explorer, PHM Regedit etc for this. Personally I use Pocket Commander Pro on my PC which lets you edit the mobile registry from your PC. If you need help with this, please search elsewhere in the forum.
Soft-reset and watch!
The files are:
HTC Black - HTC Black animated logo
HTC WM White - HTC & Windows Mobile logos animated
Please note: I haven't changed the startup sound, but I may do some sort of theme thing later.
Thanks! That's great!
I can do it with my own gif files.
Looking good, thanks!
I am waiting for more...
Question
Burns nice job,
I had a question for you, do you have to have the same size file .gif, and do you have to have the same size .wav file, if you wanted to use your own personal .gif, and .wav files?
my gif files are different filesizes (they are just in the normal filesystem not replacing the ROM) but they have to be 240x320px - i used 7ms delay on each frame

What about the .wav file, and out of curiosity can that be changed to .mp3 format?
am just looking at that at the moment - i don't think you can change it to an mp3. I am having trouble with wav files. It seems that it must be an uncompressed wave file set at 44.1KHz, 16bit stereo. If you use 44.1KHz 16bit mono it plays double speed. So it looks like it doesn't even check the header, it just regards the file as this format.

yup just tested this - has to be that exact format!
I see, what about the size of the .wav file? The at&t startup's are about .793 kb's in size. Can we go beyond that threshold?
going over that :s mien was 258kb and worked fine. so therefore I assume a bigger size would work - something to look into. why you got something in mind?
I was just curious regarding how long we could create a .wav file for, without causing the startup of the device to crash, or adding more time to the startup. My kids love Naruto, and I must say I enjoy watching it with them, so I was thinking of creating something with that kind of theme.
i didnt notice it taking longer as it plays the sound at the same time as the animation and the animation is longer than the sound. i suppose if the sound was longer, the animation would just freeze until it stopped playing - without checking that is
Ok, I'm going to play with this, but before I start let me just get a few things straight the .gif files must be 240 x 320, and you used a 7ms delay. What prog did you use to create the .gif file?
Once I'm done, I will post what I come up with.
Great work Thanks BRO !!

If you have a WM6 ROM based on the Official Core, your phone will not support animated screens.
LCARS - One for all you Star Trek fans
Now I know there must be some Star Trek fans on here lol
I came up with this last night. In my opinion, the best one I've made so far.
Great job, especially the white htc animation!

If your ROM support it yes. I did see a CAB file to install animated startup - but I don't know what devices are supported or if it is the same thing to be honest, so you would have to try it if you can find it.

my spare time is very limited but I'll try.
I cant program, so I can only help on the images...
Wouldn't it be easier to get a working VGA game, since StarCraft runs in VGA natively? And if you want to make it WVGA, you would stretch the aspect ratio of the game?
Normally I prefer to have correct aspect before full-screen, but perhaps it's different on such a small screen.
Anyway, StarCraft would be the NUMBER ONE GAME I'd like to have on PPC, bar none. And, I do have a Diamond - so I'm quite biased towards the VGA version...
Amazing! Can't wait to see it, I really hope you bring it to VGA. If you need someone to help test it on a VGA device, my Touch Pro is at your disposal.

using duttys 2.6 i can no longer change my background on the today screen anyone know why?
ive looked around but cant find how to set my device to view my hotmail account? any answers?
ive got a bunch of avi files on my computer which are mainly movies and music video clips, but they wont play using the windows media playeror divx player
i tried core as well but it didnt seem to work, i must be doing something wrong?
i love the keyboad but its too small for my fat fingers, can i make the keys bigger? they dont seem to get bigger even in landscape?
can i have more things on the today screen? like text msgs and stuff? when i click the sms tab i have to scroll through each individual text msg? is there a new page i can look at them all?
are there any modifications to make the sms page better?
what other modifications are there to make it more user friendly and can i modify the files in the device at all? get rid of any? add more?
programs im after:
a good media player for avi files
a good music player
some good games that use the graphics like teeter? some games like on iphone such as idracular? possible?
cheers guys..

Yes it is. You need to convert your files to .wav format and copy them into Windows folder. After that, they will be available to pick when selecting ring tones for any event.

Best performance for divx files can be achieved by using Core player. If you feel like recoding, it's recommended to use FLV container, with xvid codec. This seems to get best results. Depending on the movie, it's also possible to enjoy standard torrent divx rips directly via Core player, without recoding.

Touch Flo 3D Today screen is rather stiff. You can have more appointments by sliding the clock upwards, to make it smaller. However, there's no way to get messages display there. However, recently there has been some development here on XDA, allowing users to have a special tab for standard Windows Mobile Home screen - and you can install bunch of other apps for this, so you might find what you want after all.
are there any modifications to make the sms page better?
what other modifications are there to make it more user friendly and can i modify the files in the device at all? get rid of any? add more?

Better in what way? As far as I know, you can only change text size, and that's only when you open up the message. Also, if you click on the message body when previewed in Messages tab, it will open up new Rhodium style messaging (not the default WinMo, like when you click on "All messages").

Standard HTC album seems to be best for normal AVI, since it uses hardware acceleration. You need to check your avi files, they're probably not properly coded.

the same folder Muilimedia is have: WMedia, album, camera, TCPMP....
folder Utilies is have rastart, comcomander....
How do it? thanks
Do u have any idea of what SYS, XIP and OEM folders are for???
If u have, then it´s easy, just edit the proper rgu or provxml files u want.
If u don´t, then u have a lot of reading to do, and u have 2 outstanding tools for that, WIKI and the search button, it seems that lately none likes these 2, but they will prevent u, or anyone else, to ask less smart questions and fill the forum with garbage.
Cheers.

ok guys few questions
so i have kitchen and i want to remove and add some apps
so i guess key is EXT folder and i delete folders(names of apps) of which apps i want toremove but how to add files??
the easiest way is if you put your files in oem\subfolder or sys\subfolder.
when cooking/flashing, the files autom. went to windows-folder.
but no links in startmenu ... make it manually with cecmd on your ppc.
not easy way but easy enough ... download packages... look for needed application and cook/flash.
now the cook-way: its your turn ... cab or oem-files.
both takes time to prepare correctly.
both ways needed utilities.
look film for minimum needed and how-to it.
but i say to with respect:: if you dont understand this or film than you have to read/study a little bit more.
keywords are: cabtooem, yapi, registry - rgu - p*xml, packages
... and will you provide us the video codec you used to produce the avi? It's called tscc (TechSmith Screen Capture Codec) and is not very common. Please provide just the codec and not the whole screencapture application. Thanks.
cheers

change avi to flash. try next time kmplayer or download codec.
the tscc is free and to find with google and download takes 2 minutes of your life.
BUT THE FILM IS ONLY FOR LOOKING AND GENERALL UNDERSTANDING ABOUT COOKING. THE SPEED INSIDE FILM TAKES ME IN LIFE SIX SEVEN MONTH BY UNDERSTANDING COOKING.
it shows all parts of cooking but not talking inside and not detail-love but short-love.
