i installed palring in opera mobile then used memmaid to install the .cab and it will work just fine at first, but when i go back to it, the error msg says it is not a valid Pocket PC application. why is this?
also, none of the FM radio programs that i've found in these forums work on my phone... the program runs, but i don't hear anything at all.
is there something that i am missing?
i don't run any rom downloads, i've only installed .cabs... it was suggested to me that i get mighty rom?

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend.
He's got an XDA IIs with no mods/upgrades done, and has Activesync installed (whichever version cam with the device). When connected he can sync and browse the device but can't install any software. Every time the install program tries to communicate with the device a window appears (tall thin window) then disappears immediately with no error.
This happens with everything he tries to install. We've tried removing and re-instaling activesync but it's made no difference.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
Cheers,
Matt
Have you tried creating a new partnership with the device through activesync and hardresetting the device?
Does re-installing Activesync not create a new partnership anyway?
I think he's a bit dubious about hard-resetting it, but I'll mention it.
Could it be anything else?
I have this problem too. MDA III with imate 1.40rom and 1.12 radio. Reinstalled activesync and even reflashed rom but the add/remove window just flashes on screen for a second then disappears. I hope someone here knows how to fix this. I'ts been driving me nuts!
sorry but......bump!
Could it be Firewall problem?! Get off Internet connection, disable Firewall and connect...
Good luck (just saw the light today having simular problem)

ooh I have same problem the Programs wont get removed is just says ( the program is not completly removed) and the program wont get deleted????
any ideas???
Cab files!?
What about installing the programs by putting the *.cab files directly onto the BA and running them there?
Most installers will install the cabs to the Microsoft Activesync/App name, or Program Files/App Name folder if there is no PDA connected - ready to try installing next time! Just copy them and put them on manually.
Or you could try Universal Extractor to open the *.exe's and get to the cabs.
Not a solution, as such, I know but, it at least gets your apps onto the BA in question until you find the solution!!

Searched for this and couldn't find an answer. Just upgraded my 8525 to the LVSW ROM, and everything works great, but I can't get XStreamXM to work.
The error I get is "cannot play any items in the playlist. For additional information, on the now playing screen, select an item, and then press menu, error details".
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Works like a charm for me. Same config as you, however I did install the cingular cab file.
what cab? the data settings cab? if you mean that one, I did install that and im able to get online fine.
Yes, thats the one. Have you tried various stations? I recall seeing that error message before.
I did a soft reset, and tried it again and it worked.
Will try again later and see if it's still working.
This newest ROM from HTC includes Esmertec Java Jeodek 20070425.1.1 built in as part of the ROM.
I have successfully installed Opera Mini and have it working through this version of Java as well as via a shortcut (28#"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s0_) and it launches Opera just fine.
I am having two issues:
1) I cannot get the selector.utf to work to disable or suppress the two connection warnings from Opera
I've tried a hex editor changing
domain=untrusted, \
to
domain=tckmax , \
domain=trusted , \
to no avail. I even tried a fix.exe application which was specifically written to change the domain=untrusted, \ entry properly. It just doesn't work and I am starting to think that it has something to do with the Esmertec Java Jeodek being in the ROM from HTC.
... so
2) I tried to install Cloudyfa_EsmertecJbed, but it won't install ... I get an error message "installation of Cloudyfa_EsmertecJbed.cab was unsuccessful.
im running the cloudfa java on the new rom and it installed perfectly. i couldnt get the shortcut to work though and i havent tried to change the selector.utf file yet

Could you elaborate a bit on anything that you might have done, which would have enabled the successful install of the cloudyfa java?
I have tried SurrealNetworksAppUnlock & SDA Application Unlock and still can't get it to install.
Basically, I load the 1.33 ROM (the one from December, 2007 - we are talking about the same ROM, correct?) and immediately, without doing anything else to the phone, I try to install cloudyfa java and it fails, then I tried after installing the two unlockers I mentioned ... still get the same error.
I don't have any trouble getting other software to install ... very unusual.
i didnt even install the app unlock programs. and yes im using the same rom. did you try installing on the device instead of storage card? or vice versa?

I really appreciate the follow-up and the post. Your response got me thinking about more about my install process, as opposed to some type of incompatability.
Turns out, the CAB file had gotten corrupted in the transfer from my pc to the phone. I deleted the file on the microSD card, copied it over again and it installed perfectly fine; as you indicated it would.
Posting from my dash, using (full-screen) Opera-mini, under the new HTC ROM & cloudyfa Java.
Thanks for the help!

yes, perfectly ! Java starts up and runs Opera-Mini, unprompted. I also got the selector.utf mod to permit connecting without warning/prompt.
cool stuff, to be sure
Anyone know a way to get rid of the 2 connection security question when opera mini starts? in beta it worked to set untrusted to tckmax, but it doesnt work anymore.

With the java included on the DASH, I was not able to get tckmax to work. If I use a different java, one that I have installed, it works ... at least for me.
Have you tried it with a version of java that you installed, as opposed to the java included with the ROM?
I just installed wm6 thanks to you guys! (WOO HOO!!) So far soo good...
Except I installed Esmertec Jbed and Jeodek but sadly they do not work when I click on the little red icon! (installed via cab)
I get the error:
The file 'jbed' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
Anyone know a fix? I really wanna get gmail working on here! My friend has a blackberry and I want to 'put out his fire'
Additionally, from 100%, I took the new WM6 off the charger today for about 15 minutes and it went down to 94% (wifi was on...) This seems like a very fast battery drain NO? Is there any reason for concern?
Thirdly, I notice even on lower volumes when I play some music, the speaker making cracking sounds...??
There is no native ppc Gmail client? I need the jvm version? Same by Opera?
Any really fun games anyone recommends also ?
*update* Got an error trying to install Windows Live! PPC displayed: "unsuccessful" for the cab... WHY!?! ahhh
I had the same problem installing windows live yesterday. But after a soft reset the program installed successfully.

I have the same error with wm6 and x50v - anybody can point to resolution?
I have the same error message while starting jbed on my IPAQ hx4700 WM6.1.
Is there a solution out there?

it works!
Hi. I just recently purchased an HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile running WinMo 6.5. That being said, I have not been able to open any cab files on the device to install some software. Basically I'll transfer the cab to the device and attempt to open it. I get one of three messages depending on the app I guess. the most basic is "Installation was unsuccessful" to "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting...not digitally signed...trusted certificate" (this was from MobileFTPClient). Installing Opera Mini 5 gives a simple: "Installation of mini5wm.cab was unsuccessful".
Ok, so being a software developer for 10 years I've been looking into some registry values and can't seem to find what I need to get anything to install. If I download from the Windows Marketplace that's all good, but nothing else.
What do I need to do to be able to install cab flils directly? Honestly if I can't get this to work this phone is going back. I moved from an iPhone to this phone specifically so I can install apps and monkey around with the device, but so far I'm done before I started.
Thanks for any info you can give me.
its in one of your phone/device settings to let u download and install apps or cabs not digitally signed. thats all, i believe. just find it and check it off. or look for advanced config cab if u can find it and install that. it has an option in there also to let u download/install whatever..

The cab I have attached may help you...it's some SDK certificates that will allow installation of certain unsigned apps, but I don't know if this is what the ones you're running are requiring and missing. It won't harm anything to try this one, and you can easily uninstall it if it doesn't do the trick
Thanks guys. Sirphunkee - that cab actually installed, but I'm having the same problem. Another forum has suggested that I take the device back to T-Mobile, but it just seems like there's a setting that's not right in the OS. Demandarin - I've looked for various security permissions in the UI with no luck. I've mucked around with some Policy values in the registry per some threads on this forum, but still nothing.
I'll keep trying, and thanks.
So...weird; Opera Mini and Weather Bug (well known apps) wouldn't install, but an SMS notification disable cab installed (from the xda site) as did Evernote (evernote.com). I have no clue what the deal is, but it's getting beyond stupid that I can't install just any cab file.

Have you already installed .Net 3.5? It's a framework that many other programs use (and need) to install, and it's not on the TP2 by default...it's the only other think I could think of that would keep you from installing stuff. Cab is attached, if you don't have it already.
Got it. I installed the Device Security Manager PowerToy and was able to change the configuration there. Opera Mini 5 just installed.
Never would have thought the phone would come that locked down, but so far so good. Thanks for all of the ideas.

Well yeah what's weird is that I never had to use that to get any of those apps installed
