Yes, I've finally gotten around to looking into this whole cab making malarkey and while this is an existing one customised to fit my needs, it's a good learning curve
It's the palm threaded SMS app and it just plain rocks - really
So anyway, I've tested this on WM6 (Black 4) and it really works. Everything is already set up in this for using with T-Mobile and MMS works too! It integrates nicely with the HTC homescreen and includes a custom alert tone (hope you like it! )
Just to make sure the install goes OK, please use the task manager to stop the messaging \ poutlook \ tmail processes before you run the cab as I believe this could cause problems.
You will lose your existing SMS and MMS messages in the standard messaging app so if you want to keep them, use PIMBackup first
It's a fantastic app and I recommend giving it ago and if you're on T-Mob, I've just made it a little easier for you
Cheers,
Smiffy.

EDIT 1: Fixed MMS settings

If you ever vist bristol I may be tempted to reward you. thanks.. a handy cab.
Any screen shots of threaded SMS? Also if i uninstall your cab, does everything go back to normal?
Thanks

Good point! Nice work on the cab Lord but some reassurance would be fantastic
Service provider?
Have installed it and its quality. I can't send mms though. In the settings its set to cingular. I've got the tmob settings bar the centre number any ideas?
screen shot
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/18/treo-750v-threaded-sms-mms-app-hacked-for-all/
looks like that
I'm looking at it now - I did test it on mine first but I think it probably kept the registry settings when I uninstalled it and re-installed it.
As for uninstalling...on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario II, it uninstalled perfectly and everything reverted to the standard messaging app...BUT, as with anything like this, please don't just take the poster's word for it - use PIMBackup and and back it all up first!! It will most likely work OK, but...sh*t happens ;-)
Smiffy.
Thanks man. Your word is always good enough
OK, there were 2 places in the registry where the MMS settings were stored and I only changed 1 but it's sorted now (tested 3 times ;-)
And no, my word isn't good enough ;-) Back it up!! :-D
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Fixed and fantastic
Think this will quite possibly be the first cab i'll install after future flashes. Intelligent fuctionality.
Cheers Lordsmiff nice work
Forgot to say that when i uninstalled first version my old sms and mms were still there. When i reinstalled the new ones reappeared. Like lordsmiff says back up just in case but it didnt completely remove messages only temporarily when using the app.
You're right, it doesn't remove the old messages, it just uses a different message store but, at the risk of repeating myself ;-) back it up anyway
Which reminds me - if you want to reflash your device and then get all your threaded SMS messages back, you need to backup a file in the Windows folder called "PalmMsgV001" and also a folder in Windows called "MMS"
The file has all the text messages and stuff in and the folder has all the images etc from MMS messages in (I found that out the hard way )
Copy those two to your storage card and then back after a reflash to have everything back in threads
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Moved to rapidshare at mod's request
Anyone have any ideas where better to put it as I know some people (myself included) can't get them during working hours...damn those proxys
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Is it possible to install this threaded sms cab then alter the network settings by installing one of the available operator cabs or does the setting need to be entered manually?
Thanks.
i havent looked at lordsmiff's version... but if its anything like the ones i posted there is a possible issue of mms not working if you enter the settings manually... but his could be different...
There's not much chance of it being too different - it's based on your cab
If you want me to mod it for your provider, I can do that for you
Just PM me the connection details and I'll see what I can do
Cheers,
Smiffy.
i had another thought if you wanted to run with the idea.. i go back to work today so my time is going to be limited again.
The original version where based on the sprint connections, when i extracted all the files from the cingular treo rom and dumped the registry i compared them, i noticed all the reg settings were pretty much the same except for 2 lines and of course all the provider settings. But im thinking that if we left out the hard coded provider settings and allow the user to enter them manually that this may stop the "sometimes" apparent connection issues with MMS. So basically have a generic threaded cab with no provider settings hard coded at all... and if someone wanted to feel ambitious enough they could make cabs with just the hard coded reg settings for different providers (not the whole app)..
Hi!
Sounds great! Can it also be used for a other provider ? If yes; how do I know my settings ?
Does it show a alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I really love this app and would like to go back to it. MMS has always worked for me when using shogunmarks version but I think its limited to 300k.
Since your offering lord would you make one for AT&T?
I linked the settings I would have just posted them here but didn't want to miss something so I linked the main page for you.

One thing everyone should know when using this app is if you use any kind of app that closes programs like HTC Task Manager for example you need to add the Palm Threaded app to the exclusive list so it does NOT close when pressing x.
What happens a lot of times is most people write their txt msg and just click the x but with the threaded you have to wait until the msg is actually sent.
So the app should be running most of the time..
Hi,
What about the new sms notify; does it show an alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

Can anyone point me 3G Dialer OEM package (I personally prefer Diamond style Phone Canvas) which behave normally in QVGA?
I've been trying for some time to build my own ROM for Trinity with only the basic stuff included.
What I miss the most (after the Camera which I recently found) is proper 3G dialer. I've tried doesens and doesens of dialers, but noone is working graphically or functionally proper.
Some dialers are behaving great, but they all have the same problem: after pressing the power button to wake the device they gain the focus and displayed onscreen. Some of them even begin dialing the last number after resume by pressing the power button. If there is no other proper working dialer ... can someone tell me how to fix this bug ?
And please don't tell me how to search the forum ... I've almost read it all article by article
P.S. Why all the cookers "protect" their ROM's from dumping? Why is this necessary? What can I steal ... isn't it all "free"?

sorry ... there's no way ... not at least if you're not familiar with engineering.. it's all about phcanrc.dll ... this file is responsible for layout of the dialer and the button config i guess - i replaced this file a couple of times ... if we could patch this file to work correctly on trinity we would be done...
sorrily theres no else 3g dialer that works than the one tomme45i already posted - i have tried tons of dialers with my rom - i know it
if you want it manilla style you need to replace graphics yourself ..

maybe it's not in phcanhtc.dll (main) or phcanrc.dll (resource) but somewhere in XIP/OEM. That would explain why opal's dialer works in some Hermes ROMs...
Guys, I don't know if this helps, but I've been using 3G dialer from Schen, originally made to Hermes but fully functional with Trinity (I didn't detect any major problems so far). The only minor problem I found is with battery icon; this dialer package replaces your current icon. As for the rest, very stable and functional (I'm unable to test video dialer, though; so I can't say it works, although it tries to make the call and warns about lack of 3G network).

There are two version of this dialer. One of them goes to Windows folder and does not work either the cab or the oem.
The second version goes to a folder named Dialers. It works ... appart from the part that it is not in the windows folder and it has some minor graphical bugs. I am trying to fix it ... but without any success at the moment.
However there is another dialer that actually works: "Dialer_Touch_3G__v_2_02_By_Duronmarcel" (Attached). Converting this cab to oem does not work for me ... for unknown reasons.
"NiAx Trinity 6.1.70 BlueAngel" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437735) uses this dialer but unfortunately NiAx is still not responding to my question.

Unfortunately that's the old well known kaiser-style dialer with an opal-like skin, not the true dialer...
Anyway it's the closest dialer one can have in trinity for now!

I know, true opal dialer works on trinity with our oem dll, but don't have videocall. A lot of dialer works with trinity but don't have some feature...
Netdrg have made a great work
Ciao
@nosedive
@g77
The package attached is working on Trinity.
It contains 3G (ie. video dialing functionality) but it is not active when installed (as a matter of fact I think that this is Diamond dialer but rewritten by HTC for QVGA Jade). At first I thought that it would work with Diamond Video Telephony pack ... but no luck.
There are some lines in the rgu file which contains valuable information ... maybe
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\ContextMenus\AppView\MSCdial\{1AD110A1-B3E6-4CB9-AC0F-69E059AFBFEF}]
@="DPadMenu.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DialParser]
"DLL-OEM"="ddcall.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]
"ext"="\\windows\\phcanhtc.dll"
Because diamond does not have video dial button it has an option in the context menu. I think that what we are facing here is some dependancies being responsible for the lack of the video call option.
Please ... tell me what you think about that.
P.S.
This dialer always shows after resume and sometimes dials last number ... this is issue yet to be solved.
I've tried a solution posted somewhere in the forum ... something about "ShowTitleBarClock" in the registry ... don't work at all.
I've created clean ROM (nothing but the dialer) ... the same story ... this made me sure that this is not some cross-application problem.

I know about this problem on some dialers, but in my case, the problem was a wrong dll files in dialer. Maybe the problem is somewhere else?

Which was the wrong DLL ?
Another update
I've managed to pop up the "Video call" option of the Opal canvas by adding the DPadMenu.dll from HTC Diamond. Video call is still not workign but I'll test tonight with the Diamond Video Telephony pack.
The dialer is still popping for no reason

Are you saying you got opal dialer working with a dll replacement in original package? If so that's amazing man! Please try to remember which dll was
I'm loving NFSFAN's new Bell ROM, but i'm not crazy about the slide to answer on the phone canvas.
I'm looking for a way to replace the slide to answer / ignore with buttons instead of a slider while keeping everything else the same.
I've researched different skins for this dialer (there are some cool looking ones out there!!) but none of these change the slider.
Any help would be appreciated.
This one works for me; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429179. There is also a black version somewhere Google 'Black Minimal Dialer'
I've now been using NFSFAN's ROM for a few days now.
Must say i've gotten quite used to the dialer. I like all of the other features. Especially the "in call curtain". While i'm still not in love with slide to answer I understand the concept of why it was created. If I want to press a button that's what the hardware key is for!!
I wasn't really looking for a new dialer, but i've learnt the slide is an integral part of the package.
Thanks for the response anyways. You were the only one to do so. (everyone else was probably busy shaking their heads!!!)
now mine might sound like a really stupid question, but can I install the opal's slide to answer dialer on my sprint htc vogue ? are all the ## codes working for you on your phone ?
Yes, everything works (911 etc)
In NFSFAN's words, the data connection is not active during a call, it just breaks the data errors.
The dialer is included in his ROM, i'm not really sure if the same one is found anywhere in CAB format. A quick google search for "opal slide to answer CDMA" should yield some results for you.

thanks jmitr for your patient answer and the links to the solutions.. really really appreciate your patience and yes I just installed it and working fine now.. love the new dialer...
i spoke too sooon... i installed the complete cab by mbarvian and then tried juggaloo's cab but it was for VGA graphics, i tried mbarvian and conflippers cab but that messed up everything...
just mbarvians cab - didn't display the incall screen properly.... it was all greyed out...
now i can't find a single good cab which displays everything like it should... i don't want to do any more trial and error and find out... please help me on this ...
i dont mind not having the canvas - atleast i get a bigger picture on caller screen and thats all i want right now...
I know s2u2 has a large picture to answer the phone with.
I don't use it anymore, I found it drained my battery too fast. With NFSFAN's rom and the opal dialer it isn't really needed anyways.
Sorry none of the links led to anything fruitful, my only experience with this dialer is in the custom ROM. Must say it has grown on me though!!

I had trouble getting the dialer to work initially also. It seemed to be tied to the rom build that something changed after the 20XXX rom build was released. If I used anything earlier it wouldn't work. If your on a stock rom that may be part of the issue. Not sure, but just my experience in fixing the issue.
It is tied to a shell component.

Hey thanks for the reply NFSFAN, the slide to answer was the only part of your ROM that I didn't really like......at first. I couldn't imagine going back to the old dialer now.
It is good to learn what's possible and what's not though, thanks again for the answer.

Codes don't work for me on the verizon beta rom. Is it just me or do you have to use the folder rather than the dialer?
I just flashed stock R3A010 rom mostly because of speed and battery life, I was using Valkyrie before, but now I miss some things like rhodium dialer and better camera (especially flash working as a flash, and not always lighting).
So if anyone can point me in the directions of rhodium dialer and latest camera for stock roms ,in a CAB format, I would appreciate it.
Search didn`t help me cause dialer was on rapid share and link is too old.
Thanks in advance.
