touchflo 3d - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Noob here...wondering if there is a way to get more icons on the touchflo 3d bar...ie..facebook...myspace..etc?

No, and here's why.
Basically, Touch Flo 3D is a nicer way to see all the informations in your phone, ie: calendar, sms, email and so on... (I'm not talking about stock, here, stock is an app itself...)
In order to add those icons you suggest, what many of us wish to do for so long, HTC would have to release an SDK for us to do so. But since they haven't, you're locked down to whatever tabs there are in the rom HTC provides.
Now, on the HD2, HTC has added HTC Peep, which is a Twitter client. And many of us wish the same as you do. I guess at some point in the future, HTC will implement those features.
There you go

week view in calendar

does anyone know how to see the week view?
Not possible in touchflo. Hopefully HTC will release the new windows phone rom with the enhanced touchflo 3d 2.5. There you will have a week view.
To get a weekview, add an icon of the calander in the start menu and start it.
(and if they do not give us touchFLO 3D 2.5, the chefs on this forum will probably build some custom roms with it)
thx,
then i have to wait.

when you think they'll release it?
Well the final WM 6.5 (or it's called 'windows phone' since a couple of days) is shipped this or the next week to the phone manufacturars. It was expected that in September there will be an update, but I'm not sure. (not even sure if there will be this update to touchflo 3d 2.5.
As for the custom roms,
It won't be long now till there is a HardSPL. And from that moment it will go fast. So I also think we will see the first custom roms in september. But ofcourse, this is just my gut feeling

WinMo 6.5 Advantages?

I am a current owner of a Verizon XV6800 and am searching the forums daily for news of Verizon's release of the Touch Pro 2.
With the improvements in the TouchFlo 3D interface, what are users going to find to be the biggest improvements with Windows Mobile 6.5? I'm not an expert, but it seems like TouchFlo 3D steals a lot of thunder from this upgrade. Other than the honeycomb screen (which I assume won't be utilized if using TF 3D) and access to the Windows Mobile store, I don't see anything earth shattering.
Thanks for any answers!
From my limited experience usinf wm6.5 (mostly from the old tmobile wing rom) I can't think of too much advantage of wm6.5 with touch pro2 either.
The biggest advantage of wm6.5 on wing was enlarged pop up menu and scrolling, which is already handled elegantly here with touchflo. So to me, wm6.5 upgrade is nice but certainly not necessary.
I'm anxiously awaiting my TP2 in the mail, but the biggest advantage I've found so far with WM6.5 on my current Tilt is the text messaging screen. Nothing is really different other than the icon next to each text showing if it has been replied to or not.
Pretty sure TF3D takes care of that in its own messaging window, though
One thing I really want out of WM6.5 in the newer builds is the new taskbar.
I'm seriously not a fan of the honeycomb start menu. I've just tried out one of the 6.5 ROMS, and it's a real turnoff. Don't understand why Micro$oft thinks anyone would want icons arranged in such a way. I've since flashed back to the latest stock HTC ROM...

What verson of Sense

I have a T-Mobile HTC TP2. What version of Sense do I have and how can I tell? I am confused also about the difference between Sense, Touch Flow 3d, and how they interact with WM. Assume that they are both from HTC and maybe Sense is the phone software and Touch FLow 3D is the fancy today screen?
Sense and touchflo3d and tf3d and manila are all the same thing. The names have come from different locations over the years. Sense is the new name for any version 2.5 and up I believe.
It is software that runs in windows mobile. It takes over the visual interaction of the phone with the user. It is a more convenient interface than the standards windows mobile home screen. Most importantly it is a customized piece of software that HTC uses to make its windows mobile offering different from other manufacturers. Windows mobile is very much right under the surface, and is not very hard to get to. Just pushing the on screen windows logo will get you there.
The phone would be capable of doing all the same things without the sense interface. The experience would be different. In many cases you would need additional programs to replicate the functions that sense/touchflo roll up into 1 consistent interface.
That all said there are some who hate it, and flash to get rid of it as soon as they get their phone. To each their own. The best part of windows mobile is that you have choices.

boufa pretty much summed it all up there...Sense/TF3D/Manila are all referring to the shell interface that HTC built on top of plain 'ol WM. Manila is the name HTC uses for all of them, TF3D and Sense are just versions (kinda like generations) of Manila. The first Sense version was 2.0 technically, but you'll more often see 2.1 and 2.5. TF3D's last version was 2.1, which existed and was distributed at the same time as Sense 2.1 (not on the same model devices though lol)
You're running a stock ROM from Tmobile, right? And, have you upgraded the ROM at all since you bought the phone?

You probably have 6.1 if you are using stock Jan 2010 firmware. The way to tell between 2.1 and 2.5 is that 2.5 has shortcut icons below the clock; 2.1 does not.

Yeah, the odds are you have winmo 6.5, with Sense 2.1......unless you bought the phone before Jan or so, and never upgraded winmo after you bought it. In that case, you have winmo 6.1, with TF3D 2.1 (a manila version before sense)
Bought the HTC TP2 about one month ago. WM 6.1 Prof. I have not upgraded it to 6.5. Plan on doing it but I have loaded so much software in the last month, it will take me a weekend to put it all back on.

Gotcha, yes then what you have on there is TouchFLO3D (TF3D) 2.1, the last version of manila before sense. It looks very much like sense 2.1 in a lot of ways, but there are key differences going on behind the scenes that cause very few visual tweaks and adjustments to be compatible with both versions... but the good news is that pretty much any apps or tweaks you find on this site that say they apply to WM6.1/TF3D 2.1 should also work ok on your phone, even if they're for a different HTC model (the ones that don't will usually say so). There's less and less new TF3D stuff available in the TP2 forums now that every model has a 6.5 upgrade avialable, so you may find more stuff looking in the general windows area of the forums. But, keep an eye here too...beyond sense modifications there's still a ton of great stuff (apps, etc) that you can use on WM 6.1
when apply the t-mobile i upgrade to WM 6.5, will I get Manila, Sense 2.5?

Nope, 2.1 It still gives you a lot more options than TF3D, but it's nowhere near as versatile as 2.5.
Now, just be prepared for the fact that as you move up in manila versions (TF3D-sense 2.1-sense 2.5), you're likely to notice the phone slow down more. Each version is more "complex" than the last, and therefore more taxing on system resources.
so how do you get sense 2.5 with the tp2, or is that only for the hd2?
Install a custom ROM. If you've even slightly competent and are capable of following instructions carefully, there is basically no risk in installing a custom ROM. You can even revert back to the default ROM if you choose to later on. I don't think you can get rid of HardSPL, unfortunately, but I'm not sure. If you can't then I'm sure you'd probably void your warranty with a custom ROM should the phone encounter some unrelated hardware error later on.

I am slightly compenten and I can follow instructions. But what is HardSPL. And you can only get Sense 6.5 through a customer ROM??

Take a look at the ROM development forum, all questions can be answered in the first several topics.

Windows 6.5 for Evo? Does anyone know if i can install Windows 6.5 on this phone?

windows 6.5 for Evo?
Why would you want to? And this from a prior touch pro custom rom flasher....
You currently can't. It's probably possible but I'd be very surprised to see anyone putting any effort into it.
Yuck, just wait and see if someone get's Windows Phone 7 for it.
WM6.5 is junk compared to Android and even WP7.
Anyways, I don't foresee it with full drivers anytime soon, we're having enough issues w/ Froyo which Froyo itself is open source.
There are no 4G drivers for Windows Mobile anyway so you might as well just get an HD2.
why would you want to take a perfectly good phone and make it garbage?
WinMo 6.5.3 has a very slick contact management app built in. The ability to quickly switch from Exchange to Gmail to Yahoo to SMS inboxes simply by clicking <right arrow> or swiping to the right is also very slick. There are a lot of well-built MS tools available for 6.5 such as Livemesh Mobile, Word, Excel, OneNote etc. If you have a Windows computer and you work at a company that has all windows servers WinMo 6.5 is not a bad enterprise oriented OS. Facebook + social media apps and games? CRAP but for MS Geeks, it's quite nice.
Full disclosure, I have previously owned TP2, TP, SCH-i760, Treo 700w, SCH-i700 so I'm a little partial to the OS.
Windows mobile has it's perks. I still have an HD2 and I like it, but having an android OS takes all of the guess work out of using the phone. I will say though that having CHTEditor for sense UI is great. I wish the dev who created it for winmo would do that for the evo.

windows mobile is nice for some things, but android is so much better.
this has been gone over way too many times and people need to search.
Example of a huge android fail for such a basic want. I want 7 full screen widgets and just one folder. Is the only place you can put folders on the main screens?
I don't see why it couldn't be done as this phone is similar to the hd2 but i doubt you would get a dev to port it and honestly android is 10x better!
I'll believe it's 10x better if you can tell me how I can have 7 full screen widgets and just one folder. In winmo the start screen holds apps and folders. You can also put folders in the links on the today screen and that little row of links can open up to multiple pages up to about 80 links I think.
In android you could put 112 folders on the main screens, but nothing else. Those screens would be maxed out. Sounds like android wins, but think of it this way.
You can add all the apps you want to android (all apps screen) or winmo (start screen) limited only by memory. In winmo that goes for folders also. Not so in android.
Let's compare further. Let's say I'm using sense in android so I have 7 screens instead of 5 and have 7 full screen widgets and I compare it to sense in winmo...no that's not fair since in winmo it comes with about 15 fullscreen widgets. Ok, let's say in winmo I don't have sense and use UL and make 7 screens so it's like android and put full screen widgets (lots of free ones out there) on them.
Now I want some folders. In winmo I create them in my start page. What do I do in android? Is there an app out there that holds folders? That would be a good option. Just go to the all apps screen and open that app to see my folders.
ok, so I have no opinion on the major topic of this post, but as a suggestion, I mean, you could just use multiple scenes. Then you would have 7 screens for each scene, and to switch you just do like 3 clicks and you have 7 more screens.
Obviously it is a little more work, because you will have to save the scene when you modify, but its some form of accommodation for what you are looking for.
I also think there is something called launcher pro or something on the market that allows you to add more than 7 screens. I am not sure and have never used it.
Sorry if this suggestion in no way accommodates you, just ignore if so.
Well,...It's an option. A little bit of a pain in the ass, but I kind of like that. You can expand quite a bit that way. Still a little overcomplicated compared to winmo though, but in effect I guess you're not limited to just seven screens. How many scenes can you create? Is that a memory hog?
you should really try something like adw.launcher from the market just to see if you like it. You can have 7 screens but you can change it to have up to 7x7 grid on each screen. It is highly customizable
But I am pretty sure you can have a bunch of scenes, shouldn't affect memory since its only loading one scene at a time.
Well, it looks like Windows 95 has now been ported to Android. Why not Winmo? I'm betting some one will do it just because so many say it won't happen, just for the bragging rights.

Did all 4 of the WinMo threads needed to be bumped just for this?

Request - Today Screen Plugin for HTC Messaging App

Hello all!
So, despite the fact that I have an HD2, with it's massive screen and awesome internals, I haven't liked using anything other than the really old-school Today Plugins. Sense bugs the crap out of me, and I'm still not convinced on Titanium.
I use most all of the standard Today Plugins that come with WinMo, but if I'm using HTC Messaging (which I would like to stay with), it doesn't come up in the usual 'Messaging' plugin. Would it be possible for someone to throw together a plugin that fits in with the other standard ones, and just works with HTC Messaging? Or if anyone could point me to some helpful links, I'll give it a shot.
Thanks!
Or, here's another idea. I use Windows Live exclusively on my device, and as you can see in the screenshot, I use the Windows Live plugin for my email. Would it be possible to mod the existing Messaging plugin to show results and link to the HTC Messaging app? Seems like that would make life easier.
