What I am doing:
1. connecting to WiFi AP
2. trying to access any internet site.
What is strange:
1. Internet Explorer, HTC weather and Stock works perfect
2. BUT Opera, Youtube and QuickGPS does not work
3. Intra-network works perfect either from Opera or IE.
Windows config:
1. I set DNS, WINS and proxy with port
2. in connections profiles I have one "My work network" for both Work and Internet.
3. WiFi session connects to Work profile.
4. NO VPN or Modems in profile ...
5. Adapter connects to Work profile.
6. I have certificates installed to access WiFi net.
What I did to resolve the issue:
- I did MTTY and nothing changed;
- I did change of MTU - did not help;
- I've renamed proxy in settings from Symbolic representation to IP - did not help;
- I've tried both 6.1 and 6.5 WM versions and ROMs
- I've tried many combinations of different settings, but nothing helped.
Some times I saw that the issue disappeared on some ROMs after a number of settings changed during tries... but I did not get a logic of how it become working...
I appreciate any help from you and ready to make a testing...
Where are you, masters?

Got a weird problem. GPRS only seems to work upstream - not downstream. I can send MMS but not receive. I cannot download any web pages. checked SIM card in another XDA and GPRS works fine so it must be the phone, not the Mobile account.
Upgraded system ROM and Radio to latest:-
ROM : 1.40.00WWE
Radio : 1.12.00
Ext ROM : 1.31.920 WWE
Tried taking out all the add-on applications from extended ROM in case of conflict - but no luck.
Can't find any way to get GPRS download to work. System is logging on as it can pick up an IP address. Just that no data flows down to the device.
Any suggestions?
MMS has different settings to http. Go to you connections manager and copy the details from the other xda which you tested it on
Thanks - but tried that. Copies all settings exactly but still no luck. Loaded IP Dashboard so I can check network settings. Looks like I am getting an IP address from the network - I can ping the default gateway, but no data ever seems to make it through to the browser. That is what made me think it might be an application conflict - hence removing everything from the extended rom - but still no luck. All very strange.

Hi.
I am new in this forum.
I have the same problem as yours since the old ROM then 1.31 and now 1.40+1.12 Radio.
I can connected to the GPRS network but downloading of a page even a mobile site take forever.even download o2 connect also forever.
I have tried my sim card to a mini and all OK no problem but the it only happend on my 2s.
But if I use the CSD connection it seems OK. WHY?
Any workaround, need some expert help here. ???????
Thanks.
Hi All,
Am sure there are many threads - did a search but came up with nothing like mine. O2 Branded XDA Orbit with Vodafone SIM.
Upgraded from Default ROM to WM6 Bepe version - everything seems fine except my GPRS Connection.
CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3)
Rom 3.4.207.1 WWE
4/18/07
Radio 2.49.90
Protocol 4.1.13.25
Model ARTE200
I have tried connecting to GPRS using my VODA SIM - which I know for a fact IS enabled for it as I was using it on my XDA-IIs - Now I just cannot connect to the GPRS to access my gmail or anything whatsoever.
I entered all the details for Voda-GPRS manually and also from CAB from this site and still cannot connect - it starts to connect and says the "connection was disconected" check settings...!!!
I am at my wits end on what the problem is !
Any ideas?

A couple of months ago I had an HTC Beta of WW6 and had to wipe it as it would not connect, same as you. Afterwards, I found out that WW6 install resets varions Connections settings incorrectly (part of beta).
Go to Settings / GPRS settings and make sure you have CHAP selected
My install had PAP selected.
Jeff
Sounds to me like the rom you have used has a feature/setting that disconnects GPRS connections for whatever reason - possibly to stop programs from auto connecting with GPRS.
Have you checked with the creator of the ROM to see if anything like this was implemented in to it? It may be fixable with a registry tweak or setting.
Mine worked both Bepe and B&B V2 ok.
GPRS:
1. Click on Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections
2. Under the heading 'My Work Network', click on 'Add a new modem
connection'
3. The settings you require are:
4. Name = Vodafone MMS
5. Modem = Cellular Line (GPRS)
6. Click 'Next'
7. Access Point Name = wap.vodafone.co.uk
8. Click 'Next'
9. Username = wap
10. Password = wap
11. (leave the Domain field blank)
12. Click 'Finish'
Thanks Guys - Worked fine - Seems I was giving the APN wrong...
Well finally atleast it's working now...
Now only to get the Blackberry connect to work and I'm on cloud nine !!!
Hi I was trying to set my dad up with my old wizard.
He's on vodaphone and I've been able to get the GPRS working using the above settings (I also had to add a proxy server of 212.183.137 - type - HTTP port 8799) but IE is now browsing the internet.
However when I try to connect to a imap mail account it just says connecting, then says failed to connect, check settings.
Does anyone with a vodafone account know if you're able to connect to a personal mail server?
Are there any more specific proxy settings?
(start -> settings -> connections -> manage exsiting connections -> proxy settings ->advanced)
Or any advice from someone who's been able to get this working.
Cheers
Matt
All Carrier UK Settings
I downloaded this from the HTC Site - It has the settings for all carriers...Maybe this will help.
Thanks tried this, but it has an APN of internet and these settings always give me the
'answering modem has disconnected error'
I used to get the sae error and then I called up Vodafone and told them. They reset the SIM from their side and things started working fine.
OK thanks for that. I'll just hand it over to my dad with GPRS working and see if he can get his sim card reset.
Cheers
Matt
Hello,
I've upgraded my HTC P3300 with the htt://member.htc.com downloadable HTC_P3300_FRA_3.13.406.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe
The ROM updated like a charm.
Since done I can no more connect my P3300 to Internet through my PC while using ActiveSync (4.5).
This worked correctly with WM5, on standard settings.
The USB to PC "Enhanced network" setting is enabled, I tried to disable and enable it again with no change. All settings are by default.
My PC get a 169.254.2.2 IP adress and I can Ping 169.254.2.1
Trying to load a page in IE returns a warning window "Connection impossible, go to connections settings"
Thanks for any suggestion,
Jean-Jacques

Could you have it set to Automatic?
I had the same issue, solved it with this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321471
I was able to install Opera Mini 4 via usb cable with my computer onto my Dash phone and O.M. is a lot better than IE in my opinion. However, once I disconnect the usb cable, O.M. no longer is able to connect. When I use the usb cable again, it still won't connect. " Failed to connect to the Internet " is the message that'll appear on my phone. The only time it will connect is when I re-install O.M. while synced with the computer via usb cable. It seems like to be a one time deal only each time.
I'm just wondering if there is some sort of proxy hack for this and has O.M. 4 worked for anyone who is using the 5.99 t-zones proxy hack.
Thanks in advance !
Ok, my first post was edited. Ignore my 2nd one which is this.
I used the proxy hack and it works like a charm. Try restarting your phone and see if the proxy hack works with Opera (which it should work for sure).
Thanks for the reply, jdoggraz.
I have tried soft rebooting severals times and O.M. still doesn't connect. That same message ( Failed to connect to the Internet ) still appears.
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated !
I believe I had to go to menu/tools/settings and change the protocol from socket to http before it would work.
Well try to log into Internet Explorer first in order to start up "edge." Then give it a shot with Opera while it is connected to edge. Then once you get this going you can close IE up and just run Opera. This step is done in order to get edge to be "on."
Tried both of your guys' suggestions and it's still unable to connect. Will it work using the regular t-zones w/out the proxy hack?
Yes, it can work. I'm assuming your still using WM 6.0?
1. The problem is the java manager that ships with the Dash doesn't allow installed programs to use the proxy. You need to install a new java manager called jbed. Read this link for instructions on how to do it: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html
2. A 2nd (possible) option is to lose the proxy all together. T-Mobile has a new access point that doesn't require a proxy setting to access the internet, even on the $5.99 plan.
Go into your Data connection and use these settings:
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: epc.t-mobile.com
Leave the rest blank and it should work. I've been using this for almost two weeks without problem.

Still no success. Just curious though, what are your exact proxy settings?

Thanks for the link but the jbed file was invalid. I did a hard reboot and had my default settings for t-zones but still no luck. Now I want O.M. more than ever !

Did you try the new Access Point? The default AP is wap.voicestream.com. Change that to epc.t-mobile.com and see if that works.

Yeah and it still won't connect to the internet. I also did a soft reboot prior and attempted w/the new AP again but still the same result so now I had changed it back to it's default AP. Oh, and to answer your previous question, I have wm 6.
Here are my exact settings:
Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>
Internet Explorer: "Automatically detect settings" is unchecked.
Select Network: The Internet
Now I'm just wondering if any of those settings have to be tweaked for O.M. to work. Thanks again y'all for all the help.

Those settings are not the problem, the java manager is. If you want to use OM over the proxy you need the esmertec jbed manager. I did a search and found a couple threads that still have different versions of it.

You could also upgrade your OS to WM6.1. Both Kavana and Rickwyatt's Roms have it preinstalled.
Just make sure you're ready to do a hard reset if things don't go well!
Thanks Aaron, my O.M. finally is able to connect to the internet now ! For some reason, I clicked on the 2nd link first and was able to install the cab file but there was some sort of error opening it up. The first link (Cloudyfa EsmertecJbed cab file), however, worked great and I was stoked to see O.M. up and functioning now .
I tried googling for answers but found none. This site is really awesome with some really cool and helpful folks and info. Thanks again y'all and Aaron, you the MAN !

AARON YTMND!
So, here it goes.
My goal is to connect to a network using certain MAC address. Wanted network is marked with "open" and I know that it allows access only to certain devices (according to MAC) on which the administrator have gave a permission to. Once your MAC passes the verification, device gets connected to the network and then I'm asked to enter username and password through WEB browser (well known for me, because it is a procedure that I do on my other device, as well as all my colleagues do).
For example, I was allowed to provide one personal MAC address to administrator to connect to this network. I would like to set the MAC address of my other personal device and set it on my I9195 so that I can access the same network.
So, what have I done so far: I9195 is rooted, it has Android 4.2.2 on it and Busybox installed. I have changed MAC on it using following apps: MacChanger (blue WIFI logo), MAC Address Ghost (green ghost logo), using Android Terminal Emulator commands and via MAC Spoofer (black circle with green text logo). What can I conclude: As soon as superuser has granted the access to these apps, all of them manage to change the MAC. I've done the verification using Terminal Emulator. I also have to add that the MAC remains original if viewed from WIFI advanced menu BUT this shouldn't be an issue because:
1.) Colleague of mine is using his S4 (rooted etc.), while using MAC Address Ghost that does not change the original address (viewed from WIFI advanced menu) but he manages to make a spoof (verified from the Android Terminal Emulator, as all of this apps actually do) and he manages to connect without any problems in the same way as I connect with another device that I have!
2.) I had time to make a small test at home which put a light on the idea that the problem should be focused on the Samsung (and not on the router, especially because I am unable to modify anything on the router on this facility, not even restarting it). My home network works in a similar way as the network that we are discussing about. My S4 Mini has been included in it with his original MAC and it connects to the network without any problems. My other device is also included to the network using its MAC (the one that I am using for spoofing). My other device is turned OFF, router has been reset and I am normally accessing the network with S4 Mini. Then I run the MAC Address Ghost to spoof the MAC on my S4 Mini. In that moment, I have lost the connection that I had which means that the MAC spoofer actually did something. I tried to reconnect to the network but then I am asked to enter the password for my network. I have checked and re-checked it many times, tried to forget the network and doing it all over again but it does not accept the CORRECT password. Changing my MAC back to the original one connects S4 Mini back to the network, while accepting the password immediately.
Problem is represented in a way that it either says “saved” and does not connect to the network or every few times displays a message “Authentication error occurred”.
I have tried I would say every possibility that I’ve seen over the internet. That includes:
1.) Installing WiFi Connection Manager (it provided some info regarding the network that I wish to connect to: IEEE 802.11g standard, 54 Mb link and CH:11). I’ve used its function to fix the WIFI (advanced fix (root required)) but it didn’t help.
2.) All sorts of staying close to the rooter, while enabling and disabling the Power save mode (accessed via *#0011# command) or while having GSM signal.
3.) Browsing through system, data etc. folders to try to find the file that contains the MAC address information (like it did on older android versions in the nvram file). I’ve been unable to find this file or any sort of file that displays my MAC for the purpose to modify it.
I have a plan to upgrade Android to version 4.4.2 later today and make a test.
Please, feel free to suggest anything else! If I do not succeed, I will have to replace my S4 Mini with something else.
Kind regards,
QUICK REPLY: After installing CyanoGEN MOD 4.4.2, the problem remains!
I think there could be a shorter solution! On Sony Xperia Acro S with 4.1.2 Android it was just a matter of changing the MAC address within the file data/etc/wifi/fw! One minute modification...
So, please, if somebody knows the path to the file that contains MAC on CyanoGEN MOD 4.4.2 or on Android 4.2.2, PLEASE HELP!
Kind regards!
