Hi guys,
I am new here, so sorry if these two questions are obvious to everybody on this forum. I installed tt7 on my rhodium and modified BtSdkCE30.dll BtCoreIf.dll: no more bluetooth. Read the forum and figure out they need to be removed. Thus, I tried to delete, move and rename them to no avail. They are write protected and none I tried worked. So, please how do I remove them for good? Is there a way? Second question, when people are talking about hard reset on this forum they mean really reinstalling the OS?
Thanks
Max

Simple answer uninstall tomtom then restart the phone then you will still have the files but the good ones tomtom writes new ones that dont work with this phone so when your done installing tomtom install this one and you are all set
ttn7.916.9189_original_patched 4 tilt2 TouchPro2_1.cab
then check your bluetooth should be working
Hi
give them a other name works also.

A hard reset will reinstall the OS and wipe any of your registry changes, software installs and data stored in your internal memory. It's not the same as upgrading or installing a new OS though.

Yes but they will still be there taking up space that can be used for other files

and as for the hard reset to much time and trouble for something that can be deleted. or removed easily
The two .dll's are write protected on my tp2 !!!
Actually, I had to do a hard reset. No way I could remove or rename those two files. After the hard reset, I restored a previous backup - done before I installed tomtom. Finally, I modified the tt7 .cab file with WinCE CAB manager to remove the two nasty .dll's and reinstalled. Now, everything works ok.
Thanks
Max
I got the same problem.
I installed the WinCE Cab Manager and try to modify the TT7.cab file.
How to do it? I didn't see the 2 files!
Please help!!

My most new annoying experience...
Everytime I delete some files from ExtROM that I don't want to install in the event of an hardreset, they reappear again after a softreseting the device.
Even powering the device down, and waitting more than 10secs, as several times suggested in this forum.
Maybe a silly question, but any ideas to overcome this?
Don't tell me the only way is to coock a new .nbf Extended ROM!?
It is? :?
have you try formatting the extended storage? i used resco file explorer to format it after unlock the extended rom storage.
No I didn't format, as I wanted to delete just some files.
Should I Format?
And then?
- reflash the ExtROM .nbf, and delete unwanted files?
or
- just copy the ones I want to keep?
Also realized that extra files copied into, disappear after softreset
This thing seems to have own life...
Nothing of these behaviours were happening with previous ExtROM form Qtek (1.13.151 WWE).
Is it a different philosophy between Qtek and i-mate, for ExtROM?
Why these different behaviours?

Thanks for the hint. It worked!
Finally I think that I got the complete picture.
All difficulties to unlock Ext ROM on this new i-mate ROM, and a comment at another thread, made me think that once unlocked, it wouldn't be needed to repeat it again after further Hardresets. Changing the Reg settings accordingly, would be enough (WRONG!).
Silly conclusion... in fact Ext ROM was visible, but still protected.
The mommentary ability to delete and add files, leaded o a false confirmation that every thing was ok.
Now I can delete and add files to Ext ROM without problems!
Thanks all, the moved me to the rigth track.
Well after a hard reset this time I did not run the un-locker cab again, just changed the registry values. I have deleted a number of cabs, and installed two programs to the space freed by deleting the cabs. I've turned my device off for a couple of hours, and did a soft reset. So far this time my ExtROM is still there, as are my programs.
Granted this is not what I expected to occur.

Realy strange...
That were also these comments which caused my confusion before. Now I don't know what to think anymore :?
But will follow only the procedure that works for me.
Unlocking ExtROM on this ROM, turnned to be a really tricky procedure.
For me it only works if I enter the Reg settings manually...
Any attempt to insert them with a Cab file turns into failure to unlock ExtROM. Independent if I run the unlock tool before or after, followed by a softreset
You have to edit the "Config" file.
Hi everyone.
I just installed the new rom off of the i-mate ftp, installed it and have run across a major issue. When I try to install some of my basic programs like Agile Messenger or even Total Commander I get a message back saying: "The installation of <filename>.CAB was not successful." Nothing more then that. To get around this I tried installing the default_signed_disablesecurity.cab, but that will not install either. I'm stumped. Anyone here know what the problem is? Oh, i am installing these programs straight from .cab files, not through activesync.
I had a similar problem on previous upgrades when installing to SD card, when the same program was already present. Had to resolve by deleting from the card first.
Could be related.
Nope, just trying to install straight to the device. Don't have an SD card in anyway. I originally tried to install these files from my ext rom, then just from copying the cabs to 'my documents' and running them from there.
The only file I have in my ext rom that I added in that will install is the extrom_unlocker.cab.
*shrug*
try a hard reset (reset + fn1 + fn2) and reset before it start installing the extended rom customization. See if it solves the problem
Imate sp3i
- I have tryed the hard reset on my device but now i can not open it anymore it got stuck I can not open it in Windows or Return to the old modes..
what do i do now ? ( no connection to ActivSync either)
is there any way of installing or patching so it will recover it again !>?

Are you using SPB Pocket plus software??
If so, un-install it and then install the applications wich you need to install first and then install SPB Pocket Plus at the end.

Just conncet your device to the computer, and re-flash the rom to the device, don't mind if the computer does not recognize the device, just reflash.... I hope it will work.

You're not understanding me. There's nothing to "uninstall." I can't install anything so far. I have everything in .cab format so i could theoretically dump it into my extrom for automatic install. It seems like there's a new security/registry entry that's killing my ability to install unsigned cab files.

Sorry for the missunderstanding, I would suggest for you to reflash the ROM again to your device as the installed ROM might be corrupted.
I would suggest also that after reflashing the rom again to your device you should un-install the anti-virus program if you don't need it.

Hi all, i have problem with extrom. I cant find solution for long time. I would like use extrom as normal disk, that means i would like to install programs on it and modify files on it.
I normaly do it, but big problem is after reset, when my files are replaced by original files from ext rom.
I tried many roms a same like dopod 900 aku 2.6 dont do it(after reset my files staied ext rom). I dont know where is the problem, mayby somehere in registry.
I dont know, where is original files backup. because i delete all files from extrom and tried find some of them in windows directory,no was there. But after soft reset original files are still here.
Please help
I would like to second the motion for this request. I do so with the full understanding that this question is already discussed in the forum. However, the threads are soooo long and contain information that is often conflicting. I have already followed along and tried several different methods of effecting this exact result. In the end, I have the EXT ROM area visible, but I cannot rid it of the O2 files and open it for use like the iPAQ File Store I used to have in my previous device.
Again, I apologize for requesting this information that already exists, but a definitive How To would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration...and more importantly, all of the hard work put into the site!
you need to both UNHIDE (make it visable) and UNLOCK it...that is you need 2 cabs to do this
Thank you; I understand that I need to both unhide and unlock this area. I have attempted this several times in several ways with several tools/executables...
good, now is ok. Before i used only extunhider. Now i run ext rom unlocker and it is ok
Hello all, best wishes for all of you.
I am new on this forum and read many stuff here allready. However i didn't find a real solution yet for my problem to get cab-files installed, f.e.:
I'd like to install Gyrator 2 on my HTC Touch HD (UK) (And other software)
When i try this i get this error:
"The file "gyrator" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file".
The same message occures when i try to do this with other cab-files. GSen was going fine and even CabInstaller did. Net Compact Framework 3.5. installed and ROM version: 1.14.401.3
I copied the cab-files from PC to PPC by dragging it into the Storage Card.
I would really appreciate your help, because im goin' nuts!!!
Tia ....
Hello.
try this:
- make a soft reset and try again to install from the SD card
- make a soft reset, copy the .cab file with activesync to the phone memory (not on the SD card) and try again to install
when this also won´t work I´m afraid you will have to hard reset your phone..
i had same problem
why dont you just use Gsen, same thing, works great! its definately here

Problem solved! The way i used CabInstaller was wrong. Instead of open the CaBinstaller first and then adding the cab-file and destination path, i double clicked on the cab-files first and then it won't work, because i gave CabInstaller permission to take over the control of installing cab-files
Thank you anyway for thinking with me ..
Great to hear you solved your problem!

Hi, my bluetooth does not seem to work on the device. If I reset it i get the error message on start up saying 'BTTRAYCE' is not a vlaid Pocket PC application. Is my unit faulty. I have thought about doing a hard reset on the device but wanted to check with you guys if there is a simple fix, the unit needs replacing? or if the hard reset would work. If I was to do the hard reset what can I use to backup all my contacts with there facebook links etc and will the facebook links still exist?

You can use a program called Sprite Backup, although its not free. That will backup a lot of things, but to be honest, its probably best to start from scratch as it backs up all registry changes too, which could be the problem for you.
My bluetooth works fine, what part are you having trouble with?
Bluetooth Issues
I am having the same problem.
I have narrowed it down to tomtom installation (no bluetooth issues until tomtom is installed)
I have tried with TT7 910 9185 as well as TT7 445 and after the reboot the same error occurs.
I have also tried installing it on the memory card, and hard resetting it, however, the TomTom doesn't appear to talk to any Satellites.
I installed Tomtom 7.910.9185 and it says "Unable to start. Not enough memory" or similar. I installed it from cab on my 8GB Storage Card in the same way that worked perfectly on my Raphael.
The point of telling you that is my bluetooth is still working perfectly.
As for you Bladesharp, surely if you Activesync all the relevant links and details will remain with your contacts? I'd say a hard reset will determine if it's a hardware issue.

I'm on 7.915 for TomTom and don't have the issue.
Links to Facebook won't transfer with Active Sync, they are stored somewhere seperately on the phone and are not part of the Contacts program in pOutlook.exe, they are part of Manila which is not transferable. Not sure where it is stored, have been looking now for about 2 months
I came across something similar to this last week after installing TomTom from a CAB, and found this post on a related issue...
http://www.noeman.org/gsm/trash-section/65951-tomtom-7-bluetooth-problems-sorted.html
I deleted the two bluetooth files (BtSdKCE30.dll & BtCoreIF.dll) from the TomTom CAB as described, did a hard reset and reinstalled, and haven't had the problem since. Could be the same issue?
Could someone who has not installed TomTom please post the dates of their BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll? Mine are both 04/24/08 20:10.
Does anyone know if it is possible to revert to the ROM version of these files WITHOUT doing a hard reset?
If some kind person was able to provide me with the ROM version, can I just overwrite the ones in RAM?
R
These came from my device's \Windows directory, and are dated 14th May. I think they are unaffected by this problem, certainly I don't get the boot delay or BTTray boot crash that seem to be the possible symptoms of this. (Use caution, of course; backup what you can before tinkering in case of disaster.)
Sounds the same as my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373
someone already tried the above files? will it correct the problem?
Thanks for the files.
I am happy to confirm that installing the two DLLs gets BTTrayCE.exe working again.
I just renamed the 04/24/08 versions to .was and use Total Commander to copy the files from my storage card to \Windows and rebooted the phone... ActiveSync wouldn't let me copy them directly from my PC as it said there was already a 05/14/09 version there and it was read-only!
As it rebooted, it complained that BtCoreIf.dll was from an unknown supplier but I just OK'd that and everything is fine. Bluetooth & TTN working.
R.
PS Didn't need to copy BTTrayCE.exe as this had not been overwritted.
Ah, thanks for letting me know. I wasn't sure if the exe was also needed, I only included it since one of the symptoms I was getting was that this wasn't a valid executable; but I guess that was just caused by the corruption of the dll's.
I don't think the DLLs are corrupted, just an earlier version.
Just like the bad old days of Windows 3.1 where installing one package would break others due the installing of different versions common DLLs. Gosh, I feel old!

Ah yes; that makes more sense! I still had a boot delay even with the files from the most recent TomTom version I could find.
Hi there,
i had the same Problem with TT. In my case I also copyed the BTTrayCE.exe. Now I dont get any error anymore but the Bluetooth can still not be started. Can somebody please upload the Original BTTrayCE.exe. Thank you
I did a reset of my Swisscom German Device. Copyed the 3 BT Files and installed the TT7 v7.910.9185 again. After restart of my Device the same BT Error. I replayced the 3 Files with my Original ones and restarted again. New Error comes up "Bluetooth Stack can not be started"

Thanking you very much kind sir. I unzipped these files directly to my storage card in USB mode and just double clicked the exe file and it fixed my bluetooth up for me. (good job as I am a technical biff when things get registry level)
EDIT sorry I thought it did but it didn't just fix it by double clicking the exe. I've hard reset now as I don't really know what I am doing
As said in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373&page=4
There is no need to replace the two files.
Just delete them and soft reset. They will be replaced with the two right ones.

I had the same and here's what I just discovered and what worked:
I removed the files and expected them to be replaced upon restart. When I checked I noticed a file in the \Windows directory named BtSdKCE50.dll - I had not noticed this before. I (re)moved this, rebooted again and now Bluetooth and FM Radio (!) are working, yay!
hth,
TA2
This fixed my problem. Couldnt delete the old files but copied the replacements over the top and that sorted it. My version of Tom Tom wont work stil but it is 7.5 I think.
I've had exactly the same problem I've tried overwriting the dll's with the files provided in this thread,
Now whilst I don't get the error message, when I try and enable bluetooth, I get "cannot start bluetooth stack" error
Any ideas peeps?
